I'm so glad we booked with big bear vacations! Our cabin was Awesome getaway cabin 1152. My husband and I had an amazing time here from start to finish. It was a great deal and our cabin was exactly how the pictures were on their website. Cozy and comfortable. They allowed us to check in early and were so friendly and accommodating. When we arrived at our cabin, the door was open so it's was really creepy walking in. I thought we were gonna run into a axe killer or something but it was the cleaning crew whom forgot to lock the door. Our whole cabin was gorgeous. The fireplace, kitchen with a fridge and stove, outdoor BBQ. It was cozy and huge. Seriously it was a great deal. Thanks BBV for making my vacation so awesome! read more

My experience with Big Bear Vacations was exceptional. This was my second time using this company. The first time the rental was so so. Very small and not the cleanest place. This time I decided to speak with one of the agents rather than just go by the information on the website. Her name is Stephanie. She was so professional and took her time to send me several specific rentals in the area that I wanted. The house we rented ended up being perfect. Very close to Bear Mountain ski resort. It was clean and had a very well stocked kitchen. It had a wonderful hot tub. Just a great rental. Stephanie personally emailed me to make sure we were happy with the house. First of all I LOVE Big Bear! Unfortunately my family's stay was not up to par. To begin I paid a little over $500 for an amazing beautiful cabin for a weekend, and was not told my location was changed when we arrived. Once we realized this wasn't what we paid for, they told us that they are subject to changing your location without notice. I still can't find that in anything I signed...hmmm. Apartment is NOT what we paid for. I did NOT spend a little over $500 to give my son a sponge bath due to the water never reaching a warm enough temperature. We had to boil water just to clean ourselves. The smoke detector would not stop going off all night due to the boiling water. BOILING WATER? Really? Come on now.. The pots and pans included didn't have handles which was dangerous for obvious reasons. Ouch! You can not open one cabinet all the way, it hits a light fixture. There are two troubled drawers. One that won't close, and one that pushes up the entire counter when you open it. Yes, the counter comes off!!! I can't make this stiff up. There was a huge red stain on one of the provided blankets. I am glad we brought our own linens. I don't want to know what that stain could be. Not sure if the linens are washed. Very unsanitary. The sink stopper in one of the bathrooms comes out completely, leaving you unable to fill the sink. The table provided was very loose, wobbly, and squeaky. It almost fell while we tried to eat dinner. Luckily my husband just so happened to have a screwdriver to tighten that bad boy up some. The decor on the wall was covering up a horrible patch job and had many open holes in the wall. Which could easily expose my family and I to the potential of mesothelioma. I'm being dramatic on the mesothelioma part, but holes in the wall? Come on guys. There was trash left under the bed from the previous guests. (Cheetos, Chapstick, Gum, a Sock) The only things that I could compliment are the thermostat worked well, all lights turned on, and the dishwasher worked without a problem. I mean if they are going to switch it up on us without notice, at least make the secondary location functionable. But if you guys decide to go with Big Bear Vacations make sure they don't swap your room or cabin. GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! read more

Shady and unethical business practices! I booked the Swiss Haus in early August after signing a lengthy contract with a ton of terms that only benefited Big Bear Vacations. I received the attached email on 9/22 that the house has been sold and is no longer a vacation rental. Per their contract, they can offer alternatives or provide a full refund if a home is no longer available for a reason that's beyond Big Bear Vacation's control. If the house was sold and was no longer a rental, then yes it would be beyond their control. The homes they provided as an alternative were much smaller with less rooms and with less parking spaces so none of the ones they initially provided us met our needs. I spoke with a gentlemen from BBV who said he would look for other accommodations. He said any other cabin would be thousands more in additional payment. You can tell he just wanted me to cancel the reservation. Lo and behold, the Swiss Haus continues to be listed as a rental on their website and Airbnb but now the rental price has doubled. So from what I can Infer from what has happened, they wanted me to cancel the reservation by saying the home was sold in order to up the rental amount and re-rent it. How unethical and unlawful since there was a contract in place!! I would never book again at this company and others shouldn't either. So shady!! read more

I am still here reluctantly when doing this post (arrived yesterday, fri oct 9 and here until mon the 12th) at Suite Lakefront 1342. I paid 550 (3 nights) a night for a cabin that looks wonderful on thier site. I paid for a "luxury"cabin thinking that's what we would get. VERY disappointed in not only the cleanliness but the beds are very uncomfortable. There is nothing luxury about the place except maybe the tile and the counter tops! The windows up high are dirty with spider webs...the return vents for the heater are covered with dirt...the carpet is DISCUSTING! There are stains everywhere and something stuck on the carpet that resembles dog poop but I'm not about to check it out close up. I have not taken my shoes off once since being here and wont! The beds are terrible and the master bedroom is downstairs under the jacuzzi which is constantly running to circulate so when your trying to sleep there is a constant humming noise that makes you feel like your in a government holding room and they are doing it to make you talk or lose your mind, hah! Also the master bed has one side of it that is lower than the other so you can only sleep on one side. Couldnt sleep the first night so tonight we will be playing musical beds to see if something fits better and my 72 yr old mother is sleeping on the couch because she says thats more comfortable. Even my 18 year old daughter and her bf complained and usually they can sleep anywhere! The kitchen is not stocked well as far as cooking a solid meal and the guestbath downstairs appears to have urine splatters on the wall around the toliet. If BBV is charging a 250 cleaning fee they are not getting thier monies worth! The cabin itself is beautiful and so is the view but once inside...it feels dirty! I picked it because it said it was built in 2012. I didn't want an old cabin. I paid 2000.00 for 3 nights. I won't be back to this place. Its not worth the money unless you don't care about anything I've said. To add to it my daughter stepped on a dirty piece of glass and cut her toe open the first night while going to the car right inside the garage from the house. I found myself running to the store for a first aid kit and peroxide at 10pm. Thank god she had a tetanus shot about two years ago. Also maybe BBV should update the photos online. They showed a charcoal round grill so I buy and lug up there with me - charcoal, matches, lighter fluid etc to find a propane bbq when I get there which was nice but I wish i knew this ahead of time. BBV it would be helpful if you had reviews under each cabin listed on your website for better choice and where is the quality control? Im feeling blindsided and robbed and there's nothing worse than feeling like your money was taken and it was a lot of money for this single mom who just wanted to take her family on a nice vacation. This place is totally misrepresented! Update 10/11: We left on Sunday the 11th although the cabin was booked until the 12th. Couldnt stay one more night. We were all sleep deprived with aching backs! Update 10/13, 9:14pm, I called BBV on the 12th at about 1:00pm and asked for a manager or someone in that capacity to call me about my stay and I have not received a call back. Update 10/14, 12:58pm. I called back again and spoke to destiny who refunded me one night of the 3...that is all I asked for. Im hoping things get rectified before someone else goes in which is this weekend I believe. The best part of our stay was checking in at the office. It was a warm, clean spot and after waiting a while in a 5+ people line, the associate checked us in pretty quickly and handed us the key. We rented "Brett's Retreat" (and from here on out the review is going to be extremely negative and long winded) which is a 2 bedroom (1 queen bed, 1 twin bed, and one trundle) cabin less than 1/2 mile away from Bear Mountain. The bedrooms were downstairs and the living room was upstairs. (We found out the heater didn't reach the bedrooms and were freezing cold, but I'll get to that later. :(. ) Upon arrival, ALL the beds had the dingy comforters, knitted blankets, fitted sheets, and flat sheets balled up and thrown onto each bed (see pics). There was almost NO toilet paper and NO towels. I called the front desk and luckily "James, the general manager" answered and helped me. He was shocked when he saw the pics (I sent via email while venting to him.) and offered me $125 return on my cleaning fee. He sent out the property manager, Bo/Beau/(?) who was sympathetic but wasn't helpful. She left us a bag of towels, and a few clean sheets and was on her way. My husband and I kicked off the crumpled balls of used sheets/blankets and tried to make the beds with what we were given by Bo/Beau. My 3 sons (9, 5, and almost 4) fell asleep huddled up with what Bo/Beau had brought. It was around 3am we figured out the heater didn't reach the bedrooms and we all ran up to the living room and curled up on the dirty couches. The next morning I called the front desk again and vented about virtually everything said here in review and asked that they give us what's due. Freaking blankets and clean, made beds. They sent housekeeping who made the beds with new sheets but used the old crumpled up knitted blankets and same comforters (I know they do that at regular hotels too but seeing it first hand just shatters the glass on the idea of cleanliness!!). When we slept the second night, I couldn't help but feel itchy underneath the dirty blankets :(. It was probably in my mind but still. My husband and I are by NO means rich b$&@£ snobs who only frequent the Ritz-Carlton (or whatever is fancy nowadays!!). With 3 boys, I've seen and (not by choice) touched some dirty stuff. But THIS cabin was utterly DISGUSTING, antiquated, and run down/broken. Details below (and more pics :).): -broken microwave (I just wanted me some Cup O'Noodle, darn it! After putting it into it for 3 minutes when the timer went "DING!" I pulled it out and it was ICE COLD! WTF?! I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, the appliance seemed like it was from the 70's, just like the old, musty wall paper. -super old and scant kitchen items I had to use BBQ tongs for the spaghetti because there wasn't a strainer. -exposed nail in antiquated and DIRTY recliner I kept snagging it on my sweater. Thank goodness the boys didn't poke their eyes out!! -cheap,dirty, and old blinds that didn't work The across the street neighbors could see everything (not that we are exciting people or anything but still...) -NO drapes/curtains on the huge sliding glass doors upstairs -every room had a "smell" which even the kids noticed :/ -(sorry to repeat but...) the heater worked for the upstairs only, so the bedrooms were ICE cold It sucks more when you are given NO blankets upon arrival (yeah, I'm still bitter about that). To sum up, this place was NOT OK. So gross. Next time, maybe they will let us crash in the lobby of their clean, warm office where we received our keys. read more

0 stars. Stayed at the Shore Acres Lodge. This is no air bnb... just an old run down hotel cabin set. Had to drive to another location just for a parking pass, which my girlfriend had to sign a 5 page document for. Had to hunt for our parking space, which was hidden and unmarked behind the cabin, and had to drive through a mud pit to reach it. They lied about check out extension possibility, which one can only request b/t 8-10am the day of check out, due to cleaning times... which they charge $80 for... but don't do at all. The carpet was filthy when we arrived and seemed not to have been vacuumed in months. They required us to take out our trash to the community dumpster, which they gave no location on and was about 200 yards away, as well as ask us to clean the dishes. Are you kidding me? So my question is what the hell are they actually cleaning for $80 and how long does it take to do no cleaning at all, that they couldn't let us check out at 11am at least? They charged $275 for a view. Ohh and no coffee or bottled water. All of their requirements should be listed under amenities so I could've known the extent of accommodation. I shouldn't have to do 10 minutes of research to know if I'd like to stay. All of their limitations should be listed and discoverable within 20 seconds of viewing the listing. If this is representative of AIR BNB, I question their values. Speaking of which, the value of this stay was more like $150 after taxes and fees. The only thing that made our stay decent was the positive, humorous, and tolerant attitude of my girlfriend and I. WON'T EVER STAY HERE AGAIN & NEITHER SHOULD YOU. Have been a long time customer and I am not sure what happened to them. We had a reservation, the main check-in was closed and the 2 staff members that were operating a store(You must walk-thru store to get to reception desk) was suppose to assist clients. They never informed us as we walked thru that the reception area was closed. After almost 5 minutes of nobody helping us at the reception, I went back to the store. I was informed it would be a few minutes. Another family had been there over 45 minutes waiting. The staff completely ignored us for 20 more minutes until I got a little vocal about being ignored. The staff then rudely assisted us if we were inconveniencing them and it was clear that customer service was not important. I guess this may be why so many of the homes we have rented in the past have switched to the Air B&B service and no longer offer them thru Big Bear Vacations. Additionally, the refrigerator didn't work (In a large lakefront home). We had hundreds of dollars worth of perishable food at risk. We had to purchase 6 bags of ice to ensure it did not spoil. read more

Bad neighborhood, industrial businesses on the same st, airport behind the houses. 1. The Old wall heater was a huge disappointment! wouldn't shut off, then you have to use something to manually reset it so it would turn back on. used the metal butter knife as the reset button is recessed behind the vents of heater! 2. The beds were a issue they used the wrong size flat sheets that didn't fit. the king quilt was stained, we tossed it off. see pics 2b. queen bed felt like sleeping on the hard box springs. King wasn't much better. 3. the BBQ grill wasn't clean! per their cleaning list they cleaned it. see pics 4. water faucet in kitchen missing hot water knob. hart to turn on n off. see pics 5. kitchen trashcan filthy! see pics 6. kitchen exhaust hood filthy! missing one light. see pics 7. bath towels old n rough, ordered new ones that were much better ie newer. 8. Front room TV didn't have remote, had to manually turn it on once we found out how to turn it on. not a huge issue. 9. some of the dishes were dirty in cabinets. 10, one of the recliner chairs was broken. the couch has seen better days. animal hair on it also. used extra sheets to cover couch n chairs. 11. bathroom not up to silver level rating. We called the first night about the BBQ n tv. they sent out two Men to clan BBQ n check out the tv. These guys were Professional, Courteous, Helpful and Friendly read more

I guess I'm fortunate enough to have had a wonderful experience booking, checking in, and checking out! This is based on my experience in March of 2012 using a groupon deal. I was the planner for this trip for 9 people including myself.. therefore, there were always so many questions! Every time I called BBV, they gladly answered them. I never thought that anyone was rude or unhelpful. I was put on hold once for over an hour (I timed it!) but I knew it was because the groupon deal was hot at the time and everyone was booking. Checking in was easy! I got a little re-usable bag (which I still use today!) with stuff in it like coffee, creamer, sugar, deck of cards. The front desk staff was very friendly, smiling, and helpful. They continued to answer my many questions! The day we checked in, they had a mini bake sale to raise money for one of their coworkers who was ill (or their family member was?) which I thought was sweet. Our cabin (Kelly's Kabin) was adorable! 2 stories, master bedroom downstairs with a king size bed that shares the fireplace with the living room, 1 bedroom upstairs with 3 twin size beds, and an open room with no door with a queen bed (or might be full). The kitchen was basic. We brought our own utensils, plates and cups which I think everyone should do just in case instead of complaining about dirtiness/greasiness/lack of utensils/etc. We did use pots, pans, spatulas, knives without any problems. There's a jacuzzi on the front deck which worked fine. No complaints of dirtiness anywhere! The bathrooms were well kept. There are 2 bathrooms - 1 with a shower, and the master bedroom bathroom with just a sink and toilet. The cabin overall was really cozy! The only minor problems we encountered were: -The living room area was kind of dark. We hung out at the table to play cards, drink, etc which was under a light that would have lit things up if it worked! But an easy fix was to move the main standing lamp over closer to the table (but don't forget to put it back! There are fees for leaving furniture out of place!!) -My friends who slept in the 3 twin size beds said it was slightly uncomfortable. There was a small dip in the middle of the beds. -5 people slept upstairs and said it was cold at night, even with the heater on. (downstairs was quite warm though!) -Nothing was really walking distance at this location. Boo! Checking out: You have to throw your own trash away in a dumpster. Upon checking in, you receive a list of dumpster locations. I thought that kind of sucked and felt like it should be included in the $100+ cleaning fee. We had to go out of our way to the dumpster as well as out of our way again to drop off the keys to the main office. It would be nice to be able to leave our trash bags outside for the cleaners to take as well as leaving our keys in the cabin. Overall, booking thru Big Bear Vacations was a breeze and it made for a very memorable trip for my friends and I. We still talk and laugh about our trip! I am booking with them again currently. I called once to begin the planning/booking process and the person on the phone was EXTREMELY helpful! I couldn't find a drop down menu on the website that was right in front of my face.. she waited until I could find it, stayed on the phone with me until I found everything on the site that I was looking for, and again, answered all my questions! We stayed in Eagle Point in what seemed like a nice cabin. The pots and pans were a mess, utensils were broken and the floors were disgusting. Like many other people have said the cleanliness was to be desired. The downstairs bathroom was covered in urine. the toilet bowl and floor had yellow stains all over. We found screws laying in the carpet by the pool table after a toddler stepped on one. We called and asked to speak to a manager and were told to send an email with all the information and attached pictures. They mentioned we would be contacted monday and nothing. we called today and they said they have no recollection or evidence of a complaint. Stay away from this company. To the owners of these properties you guys can and do deserve better. read more

I recently spent 4 days in Big Bear and rented a cabin. I had shopped on VRBO and Air BnB, but the prices were outrageous with numerous fees. Big Bear Vacations gave a significant discount and a great value. We stayed at the 1120-Dreams of Summit which was conveniently located off of Big Bear Blvd. The cabin had 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, pool table and Jacuzzi. It was relatively clean and beautiful. I rented a house through Big Bear Vacations for a weekend with my whole family for my birthday. The advertising of the home we stayed in was truly deceiving. First off, the home itself was portrayed on their website to have 4 bedrooms, there were only three. Another problem was how small and how little living space there was for all of us. It was advertised to comfortably fit 11 people, yet 7 of us were crammed into such a claustrophobic space, we could not even sit as a family in the living room, there was only room for about 4 people in the living room space to sit comfortably. The kitchen was a mess there were stains in the oven and crap in the sink. There were stains on the curtains and mounds of dog hair to the point that my mother and I both had allergic reactions. The bathroom was barely cleaned, we had to clean everything ourselves from the toilet to the sinks and the floors. The heater was not consistent whatsoever my room was freezing cold and the rest of the home was boiling. There was also an underwear tag on the floor of my room along with a pile of fuzzy blankets with god knows what on them. My husband and I go up to Big Bear a few times a year (Summer and Winter) and have stayed at hotels, cabins, etc. Of all the rental companies we have used, Big Bear Vacations has been the nicest and easiest to deal with. Are the cabins brand new and perfect? No. But for the location, price, and having so many pet friendly options, we are always happy with what we get. We had a cabin this year that the Hot Tub wasn't working when we arrived. I texted and they had someone out there in under an hour and it was fixed right away. This is not a "sour grapes" review, but this is my honest feedback. This company is really backward, I would avoid them and rent elsewhere or just go via AirBnB maybe. They are not at all set up for you as the customer. Almost no amenities, this is a bare-bones rental company and I wish I had read the reviews ahead of time, yikes! Basically they "manage" cabins for individual owners, meaning they just rent them out and collect the money, and avoid providing anything but the most basic things like a single roll of toilet paper. They do the absolute minimum in terms of maintenance and cleaning, and if you read the fine print it says that each owner determines what is done or provided, so really it's a huge catch-clause -- and they make you sign a huge legal document that looks like about 10 lawyers wrote it, with tons and tons of disclaimers and legal jargon, so you can tell they are really all about protecting themselves and the owner only, not you. Check-in is a hassle, you have to drive to their offices in town, and go through the process as if you were at a conventional hotel. Every bit of it could be done online, they need to modernize! (Even AirBnB would have been a better choice). I think the only reason they want you to come there is so that you will buy all their over-priced amenities like soap and firewood and booze, which you will need because these cabins have Zero amenities!! And oh, by the way, they gave me the wrong street address for the cabin, which made it super frustrating when we got to the location and had to hunt around and call them in order to be sure we were at the right place. How dumb! About the rental cabin: The cabin itself, Daisy Lazy Bear #1504, was okay inside, nice location near the lake like they say but really it's just a huge fresh-water marsh, no water access whatsover so it's kind of dishonest. Cute little one-bedroom with old furniture. However outside was a disaster, broken front steps, huge chunks of concrete at the base of the driveway steps, dirt and mud everywhere at the entrance, and a huge water rut that you can trip in. Wow, are you kidding me?? They provide a small outside grill, it was clean, so at least you have that. Amenities: Almost none! The basic dishes and coffee maker are there, also blankets and pillows -- but that is it! No trash bags - no dish drainer (but you have to wash the dishes, hmmmmm) -- no courtesy items whatsoever! The cabin is really, really stark, so you have to go right to the store to get even the most basic stuff, like trash bags and some paper towels. Cleaning: So frustrating, they didn't provide a broom and pan, and the vacuum was a piece of junk, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years, gross! But, you get charged $25 for "excessive cleaning" if needed. Huh?? How am I supposed to clean without any cleaning supplies? I contacted the front desk and they had a broom dropped off, but wow that's so basic, even if they do the cleaning you have to at least be able to sweep the darn floor, right??. Overall as I said above, go elsewhere, I won't rent from this company again, I would hate to be an owner and see my cabin go downhill like this. read more

I would leave a zero start review if I could. Lets start with arriving in Big Bear at night in 17 degree weather. The front door of the cabin didn't open ... when I called they said it would be a while for maintenance... I informed them that I had a newborn child and couldn't leave her in the cold... they told me that wasn't thier concern. After waiting 30 minutes I drove to thier office and was able to obtain another key. That key did not work as well.... finally after another 10 minutes the maintenance guy showed up. So the total wait was an hour. They lock was never fixed or replaced so when I left the cabin it remained unlocked and unsecure. When I contacted the front desk I was told that someone would contact me regarding this. No one did. 2 weeks later I had a mystery charge for 75.00 on my credit card. I contacted Big Bear Vacations and was informed that a manager named brandi would call me. She never did. Instead sent an email stating that the charge was for small bags of trash. (Grocery bag sized bags) Apparently they expect you to take your trash with you.... never in my life have I heard of that and its conveniently placed in the contract thats several pages long. That's something that the front desk shoukd tell you.... not just say "oh its in the contract" Further they show no concern for the fact that they had a maintenance issue and a baby was left in the snow and cold. All they care about is thier 75.00 trash fee. Because the ONLY reason that they contacted me was because of that. Brandi is rude and lies about trying to call. Then the front desk lies and says she's not in when she obviously is. I would suggest looking elsewhere for your cabins. This place is deceitful and rude. read more

They delivered clean linens to our rental that had dirty bedding but beyond that, failed completely as a rental company and took zero responsibility for the poor condition of their rental. Similar experience to other negative reviews, the house we rented looked really great in the VRBO listing but obviously had old, inaccurate pictures from when it was newly furnished and in better condition. Broken drawers, used dirty bedding, a broken chair and table leg that resulted in a toddler falling and breaking the glass, intermittent and non working wifi, a non working upstairs gas fireplace, missing blind slats and missing rods to open blinds, burned out light bulbs, an empty water cooler, a queen bed with a broken frame or a mattress with one side sunken several inches lower, a broken spa light... The thermostat was set to shut off after 2 hours. In 20 degree temps someone woke every few hours due to the cold to turn it back up, inside temp repeatedly dropped into the 40s. No paper towels in the kitchen, not enough cookware to prepare a meal and what was there was in such bad shape it was almost unusable. We brought food but ended up eating every meal out. We brought logs but there were no fireplace tools, no trash cans in either of the bathrooms. There wasn't an entry rug or mat or a place to put shoes so we ended up having to use bath towels for our boots, not helped by there not being enough hand towels or bath towels as it was so we had to do 2 loads of laundry for a 2 night stay just to have dry towels. Big Bear Vacations refunded $250 and offered us a discount on a return stay which we won't be using. Be sure you check the rental listing to see who manages the place you're looking at. Expensive lesson learned. :( read more

I visited Big Bear for the first time and stayed at the Bonita Cabin, which was within walking distance to the lake. My group bought a Living Social deal for 2 nights at a 2 bedroom cabin. The deal also came with 4 round trip ski lifts (it was too warm for snow, so we went on the lifts for the view). The cabin came with a full kitchen. There was an old TV and DVD player in the living room, a cozy fireplace, and wireless internet. The kitchen included utensils, pots and pans, and a coffee machine. There was a jacuzzi out front, but we didn't use it. I expected the cabin to be dirty, but aside from the couches it actually wasn't too bad. They provide several pillows, sheets, and blankets. The bathroom was small and old, but I managed to deal with it. I wasn't the one who booked the cabin, so I can't really comment on the staff and their customer service. Overall, it's not bad to stay at one of the lodges or cabins with Big Bear Vacations, but only with some sort of deal. read more

We recently spent 5 days / 4 nights at the Windsong Manor #906. We were able to easily book the home. Whenever we called the office with questions leading up to the trip, our calls were answered by friendly, helpful people. The check-in process once we arrived was quick and thorough. We were able to change credit cards easily at that point as well. We headed to the house which is absolutely gorgeous. It has four bedrooms and sleeps 8. Interesting decor - a film ready Predator costume on a mannequin on top of a "loft", old timey wooden rocking horse, a "sauvignon blanc" sign that looks like it came out of my moms kitchen... Odd combination, but we kind of appreciate that. At this point, I think the best thing for me to do is make a Pro - Con list. Pros: - Private home at the end of a cul-de-sac. - Gorgeous view of lake and mountains. - Fabulous wrap around porch. - Jacuzzi with perfect view of sunset. - Four bedrooms, the master of which is large and comfortable. - Large comfortable living room with floor to ceiling window, fireplace, large tv, old timey rocking horse. - Working cable and internet. - Game room w/ pool table, fuse ball table, dart board, bar, fireplace. - Large kitchen with GREAT stovetop and oven, large dining table that seats 8. - Washer / dryer Cons: - Broken toilet seat when we arrived. (They sent someone to fix that.) - All of the bar stools were broken. - Back blinds didn't lower and raise. - Dustpan, no broom. - Had handheld vacuum, but no battery in it. - Did NOT have a fitted sheet as the bottom sheet on the bed. Just a regular sheet whose edges barely met the edges of the bed, but did not tuck underneath. This was huge for me. - Toilet paper holder in bathroom broken. - Dart board and fuse ball table broken. - Lint tray in dryer looked like it hadn't been checked in a century. The house is not fully equipped with things like paper towels, toilet paper, etc., but I do think that it should at least have a broom. It should at least have fitted sheets on the bed. I have to admit, I was not fully confident that those sheets were clean. There was limited amount of towels. Had we not brought our own, we wouldn't have had enough. For the price we paid, $6000 (again, for 4 nights), one would expect those things to be better. I think that they should send one of their employees to do a house inspection with the renter when they check in. Here's the thing. If the house wasn't so gorgeous, and if we didn't have such a great time together, this rating would most likely be a 2 if you consider price to service. I feel wrong giving a low rating because my family and I did have a beautiful time together, but I do feel I have to be honest to prepare other renters, and to provide feedback to the rental company. We specifically used this company and paid this price because we wanted a great house, but unfortunately, key details were off. read more

We stayed at the Lakeview cabin. The cabin itself had some updates like new floors on the first floor which we appreciated. However, there were so many negatives that outweighed the positives. All faucets, kitchen sink, bathroom sinks and shower/bath handles are filthy, old and rusty. I felt horrible bathing my small children in either of those bathtubs. The upstairs shower leaks onto the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom, I can guarantee you there is mold between the floors. The upstairs bathroom sink leaks a steady stream of water even when both hot and cold handles are completely closed. They also need to have the owner repair the wooden door to the backyard, it was sharp and pointy broken pieces of wood that we were afraid to get near with our kids. We did not use the backyard due to its terrible condition: the owner or company needs a gardener to rake and you need to make sure its SAFE back there. The DVD player had a missing cord and we were unable to play our kids movies. Screen doors would be a good addition to the front sliding doors to prevent bugs from entering the home. The maintenance men from the company were nice but need to look and act more professional. They showed up in regular clothes and no masks. There was a note from the housekeeper saying she was there and cleaned, however there was dust and sticky residue on absolutely everything. This company needs to schedule deep cleaning after EVERY visit, especially during this pandemic. The tv and ceiling fans were covered in dust, insides of any and all drawers were disgusting and we didn't use. I was disappointed with the price we paid for a place that had this many problems. We expect cabins to be a bit shabby and have no problem with that, but there were so many safety and plumbing issues. The backyard was completely unusable. I had a horrible experience with Big Bear Vacations. My rental cabin was very disappointing. 1. There was dried up puke ALL over the couch and floor of the game room. Someone in my group stepped in it while starting a game of pool. We had HUGE concerns as this relates to COVID-19. Housekeeping wasn't available to come to clean this up until the next morning. 2. The house is advertised as having a usable hot tub. The first night, the hot tub didn't work. We found ourselves once again sitting around waiting on maintenance to come out and fix it. When they finally took a look, it was realized that they would need a new part. They didn't fix the hot tub until early Saturday afternoon. 3. There were large piles of dog poop all over the backyard for the entire weekend. We did not have a dog, it was apparent that no one had actually inspected this home properly before our arrival. 4. The overall upkeep of this house was not worth the amount of money. All of the rooms had broken closet doors, there was dried up pee in most of the bathrooms. While they give you a heads up to bring paper towels and some additional supplies - nowhere is it mentioned that they provide 3 rolls of toilet paper for a 12-person house. 5. Post our stay, we reached out to work with the cabin rental company. We were told that it would take 5-7 days to process our complaints. They immediately gave us $150 dollar refund and charged the card on file. There was no working with us on this horrible experience. There are many houses in Big Bear, I would put this one at the BOTTOM of your list. Extremely disappointing. If you are concerned with COVID-19 during your travels, I would run away from this property/rental company. read more

I wish I could give this place NEGATIVE stars. Our stay at one of their cabins was so awful that we only lasted 13 hours before leaving. We were supposed to stay for the long weekend but had to leave as a result of the following: -GROSS LARGE BUGS- I grew up in the woods but I have never seen so many bugs inside of a cabin. Clearly the Cabin has not been cleaned not had it been treated for the big issue. -FREEZING COLD- When we arrived the Cabin was at 55 degrees. We put the heat one but it only got up to 60 and the heat did not transfer to the bedroom or the bathroom. We had to sleep on the couch in the living room to be close to the heater and wore 4 layers of clothing. We barely slept it was so cold. -DIRTY- every nook and cranny of this place was disgusting! I will post photos and have sent them to the Better Business Bureau as well. I am not a picky person and usually stay at 2 1/2 star hotels but this was a whole new level of dirty! Do they even clean between guests? -AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE- I have spent nearly 3,hours of my time making over 8 phone calls and writing emails to their "Management" team. After many attempts to reach Destiny on the phone, I went to her boss (Julie) who listened to my issues and promised to call me back within 3 days to follow-up. I have followed up with her twice and she has yet to call or email me. She ghosted me. I guess she cared even less than Destiny. Terrible Business run by Terrible People. Do not give them your money. There are plenty of locally run places that you can stay at that are nicer and care about your experience. What a rip off Big Bear Vacations is- I wish I had done more research because everyone says that this company is a total money scam. Now I know and so do you! read more

I found this cabin on the Internet and was really excited that they had so many amenities for a family with a lot of children. On the website they listed swings, swimming pool, Hot tub, horse shoes, and ping-pong table. Once we got to our cabin we saw that the pool and hot tub were closed. I contacted the office and was told that pools were not open due to coronavirus. As my husband and I walked around we saw several other pools in the area that were open for both cabin use and hotel use. We felt like the office was being dishonest. We really felt like we had gone through a "bait and switch" in renting this place. Why do you have pictures on the Internet of a swimming pool and hot tub if no one can use them? That's false advertising, take down the pictures! Or include a message on your website about facilities not in use! Also the ping-pong table didn't have any balls so no one was able to use that either. Cable was out on the television so we weren't able to watch any movies or any cable or any TV. We were supposed to check in at 4 o'clock, the cabin was not ready until at least 4:15 PM. This was especially annoying since we had checked in with the main office at 1 o'clock and they knew we were waiting with our six kids. The check in process is completely ridiculous and outdated. The company makes you go to the main office to check in before you ever see your cabin. All of this paperwork could be done online. Our cabin had a lock box and we didn't even need to get a key from the main office, complete waste of a trip. read more

ABSOLUTELY FILTHY! NARCOTIC PILLS MY 2 YEAR OLD FOUND ON MASTER BATH FLOOR. Every bathroom leaks, every outside patio deck including second and third floor has broken boards, that my 2 yr old could easily fall through. Heath risk, life risk. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! ESPECIALLY if you have children. Big Bear Vacation takes no pride in maintaining inside or outside upkeep. The cleaning ladies have obviously no idea what they are doing or how to clean a house, my 2 year old would have done a better job. She is walking around this house "Fishermans Paradise" dating "EWWW" to almost everything. Of course I'm their 100 page contract, they have no liability. Claims to have this "great cleaning service". Yeah sure. Maybe if you were staying in a janky motel. We arrived at our 1,000$ a night house to find the "Property Manger" with NO MASK in the house, saying the carpets had dog hair still, so he needed to vacuum. Fast forward 30 minutes, two cleaning ladies show up, Liberty and Maria. Fast forward another hour (it is now an hour and half after the check in time) no word. Finally we are allowed in. After getting settled, we find CLUMPS of dog hair in multiple areas of this house. For 1,000$ we got a dirty carpet, an extremely late check in, an angry and starving 2 year old. To enjoy the 1,000$ a night view you have to walk around on the broken planks of the second and third floor patio, just to maybe sit on the patio furniture where every single chair is cheap, broken, pointy plastic. After unwinding from all of this chaos and unreasonable expectations Big Bear Rentals put on this house, THIS MORNING AS I WAS BRUSHING MY TEETH WITH MY TWO YEAR SHE FOUND AN VERY OLD LOOKING LARGE ROUND PILL ON THE GROUND WITH THE NUMBERS 54 543. IF YOU'RE UNAWARE OF WHAT THIS PILL IS, LIKE I WAS, I LOOKED IT UP, AND IT IS AN OXYCODONE PILL, AND EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE NARCOTIC, SIMILAR TO PERCOCET! THANK GOD I SAW HER WITH IT BEFORE SHE STUCK THIS (ALMOST IDENTICAL TO AN ALTOID) IN HER MOUTH, WHICH MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN HER TINY BODY TO OVERDOSE. I'm am to say the least extremely disgusted, disappointed, and livid with this company and they're false accusations to have "such a great cleaning service". I 100% would not book from these incompetent and careless people. I will never again, I will continue warning others against this company, and they will be hearing from me when I go back in. I am in utter disbelief that after unfortunately just now reading these other comments and reviews absolutely nothing has changed.
