Came here multiple times for their beef noodles. Perfect spot to visit on cold, winter days and it always reminds me of my northern Chinese grandma's homemade dishes. Similar to other hand-pulled beef noodles places in town, the menu is simple and you get to pick the soup base and the thickness of the noodles. I am not a big fan of spicy food therefore I always go for the classic beef noodles. The hand pulled thin noodles were chewy and flavourful. The portion was generous; even the small/regular size was very filling in my opinion. The service was a bit slow but was reasonable knowing that the noodles were hand-pulled. We really missed this place ever since the location at Yonge and Byng closed down last year but we went to this location and left very happy. We ordered a large bowl of their pickled beef hand pulled noodles to share with side orders of lamb skewers and fried soup dumplings. The beef noodle was fantastic with deep bold flavors with a nice sour crunch texture coming from the pickled cabbage. Adding chili oil to the broth took it to the next level though! This is a typical Chinese restaurant. Large bowls of noodles, watered-down tea, and use of simple ingredients. There's only like 4 types of noodle bowls to choose from, along with a variety of noodle thickness. Then they also offer a bunch of little appetizers like corn with cheese, "complicated cow", and Jian Bao (which seems to be a popular order here). I got the classic noodle. For a small bowl, that is a LOT of noodle. The big and small bowl is only difference of a dollar. I chose the flat thick noodles, and they are so long! It's basically eating half lasagna sheets. The beef was okay, tender slices with some tendon/fat. I forgot to tell them to omit the coriander. Nice surprise of white radish though (I think it's radish!). The soup is flavourful though I think if you drink the whole bowl, you would need to wash down the salt with another glass of water or tea. The meat sauce noodle was okay. Always saw this cute little storefront while passing by on Kennedy Rd. And finally decided to give it a try! The employees were very kind and attentive, giving us recommendations on the menu and helping us decide how thick we wanted our noodles to be. I Got the spicy beef with medium thickness noodle, while my friend got the medium flat ones. The noodles I got were much thicker than I expected! It was very tasty, had a good amount of beef and scallions/ green onions, and there was a great abundance of noodles. However, it did get a little chunky and the noodles were stuck together, and the round noodles seemed to be better (in terms of easiness to eat and slurp up!) Overall though, a great place to eat! The only downside for the minced pork one was that it was quite dry. The sauce wasn't enough to make the noodles go down well. The tables can be moved around pretty easily to fit parties of any size. If you come as a large group during peak times, do expect to wait a bit while they get the seats ready. The menu is pretty simple as it should be for a place like this. You have 8 main bowls of noodles to choose from. When you choose your bowl of noodles, you will be asked what type of noodle and thickness you want. There's a couple of sides you can order to round out the menu but let's be honest, the noodles are why you're here. Big Beef Bowl does a very good bowl of beef noodle. If you're a fan of beef noodle this is definitely a go to for you. The noodles are pulled fresh and you can taste it. The noodles always had good bite to them at their old location and this new location keeps the tradition going. The broth is also pretty solid. I think they've have toned down the spiciness of the broth though. I remember it being much more spicier. Still, they have chili oil at all the tables if you need it more spicier. For me, parking at the shopping plaza Big Beef is located at is always tough during peak hours. There are a lot of spaces, but it's shared by so many business and restaurants that there seems to never be enough spots. Service during my visit was phenomenal. We've tried this type of hand pulled noodle restaurant in LA and Vegas, and if you are coming here for the ambience or on a date to impress, well forget about it, yah! Food and quality of beef: ligament and tendon was thick and too chewy. The shrimp flat noodle was good sans the hair. It's a tough 2/10 score for me. Helping size for large was wackcellent so 2 can share a large unless you are starving, so they score a 10/10 for size to price ratio. Our one expert waiter was really rude to start and then the other new waitress mixed our noodle order around so that was disappointing and to top it off we found hair in one of our dishes. So -10/10. The only othe positive thing were the dish prices (when converted to US). If price to value is what you care for and u don't care that you can't see the sous chef hand pulling the noodles like you can in Vegas, then by all means go. Otherwise it's a big skip for us. I've been here a few times so far, and it's our go to place with my group of friends! Recently, they opened a new location near their old location which was more spacious and modern, they even overhauled the menu - which I approve since it's simpler, less options and easier to read. One thing that I like about this place is they focus on a few things and do it pretty well! They have the classic beef noodle soup with various thicknesses of noodles and different styles! I usually get the regular noodles with the braised beef noodle ($10)! The larges here come with more soup and noodles, but not that much more meat. None the less, the portions here are quite filling and you don't need the large to get full! The noodles are cooked perfectly, they're tasty, fresh and have great perfect texture that really absorbs the broth and makes eating just the noodles pretty great! I like the braised beef, it's quite flavourful and tender, but lately the beef has had too much skin / tendon on it. I wished they gave more meat and veggies to balance out the noodles. I've also tried some of their appetizers which are nothing special, but definitely help add something different to the meal. There appetizers are a bit expensive and not worth it like the Shanghai Fried Buns. I've had the eggplant appetizer which is pretty cheap and decent! Wanted to try a new restaurant and were having trouble picking as we went to most of the nearby restaurants, but luckily and thankfully we found this place. The noodles soups were great and highly satisfying, without leaving your arteries feeling all clogged up. The hand crafted noodles were bouncy, and the soup and beef were rich and extremely succulent, but do NOT miss out on the pork belly. Overall, definitely a must go for a good bowl of noodles, but maybe do not go for the thick & flat noodles. The braised beef noodle soup had a hint of spiciness which I truly enjoyed, and even added some more of their delicious homemade house which made it even better. The beef brisket chunks needed very little pressure to break apart and the thick & flat noodles were REALLY chewy and bouncy in a good way, the only complaint would be because the noodles were so thick, the flavor couldn't penetrate the noodle as much, so maybe will go for the flat regular next time. Came here because of the above average review at the yonge and finch location. Came here on a Thursday rainy night around 7pm. No one was in there. But still decided to walk in. We both ordered large bowl of braised beef brisket noodles. You get to choose the noodles sizes. We got one with round large and one with round regular noodles. The menu says it's spicy but it's not spicy at all. Each bowl comes with 3-4 pieces of braised brisket, few slices of daikon, topped with some green onion. The broth is very clear and flavorful. But I'm not sure if it's beef soup or what. I quite enjoyed my round regular noodles al denote but the larger one is a bit under cooked. The beef I don't really care but it tastes ok. The large bowl really has a lot of noodles. And for now it's new opening so they offer 10% off; cash only. So your looking at $20 all in for two bowls of large noodles. First time coming here for a Sunday night dinner. They place have like 12 to 15 tables. Booth style tables on three sides of the place. It is located at the southwest corner of Kennedy and HWY 7. The place isn't huge but it is a decent size to accommodate. It wasn't crazy busy the night we went since it was after 9pm. Atmosphere 3.5/5 I really like their logo. It is very unique and memorable. Service 3.5/5 Fast and friendly service. Food 4/5 We really enjoyed our noodles. We ordered the classic beef and the braised beef brisket noodles. It really has the beefy soup taste, which I really like. Very tasty. We also ordered their spicy potato strips, I like that as well but not as much as I love their noodles. Tried this place last week when I went to visit some family and friends. Their hand pulled noodles are good and fresh. The experience is cool because people can choose which noodles they would want ( round thin, medium , large or flat thin...). I enjoyed the texture of the noodles but the beef broth wasn't anything special. The san ji bao were very good. Crispy on one side and had lots of flavour inside. I had trouble finding this place as it's in a big plaza and Google maps lead me further into the plaza. FYI it's right in the plaza by Kennedy st and it's damn it's good. We each ordered a large noodle soup and had pickled veggies, chicken wings, taro chips, and cucumbers as apps. The bowls are huge!! We liked the chicken wings alot although they were insanely oily. The soup, though, was the star. The broth was perfectly savory. It tasted like it was simmering all day with beef bones, spices and herbs. The noodles were nice and chewy; although, they were very uneven in width. The atmosphere is clean and modern. They have cool wooden wall art of Bruce li making noodles on the walls. The food was mediocre but it came fast. The biggest issue is how terrible the service was. I'm not usually a person that cares too much about service but it was just awful. You don't have to be overly excited, but basic human decency should be expected... The store was not busy. There were tables available but the servers always had sour looks on their faces and yelled at us to wait, as if we had done something wrong against them. One of the best places in Markham to get beef bowl soup (not Vietnamese style of course). The alternative for this restaurant used to be Magic Noodle for me and I got sick of the high amounts of MSG they were putting in their broth. To be honest this place is not that much better in terms of sodium levels. I still feel super thirsty after eating a bowl of soup here but the taste is SO much better. The broth is usually clear and it tastes very beefy and light. They give you a decent portion of meat. And holy, they give you a lot of noodles. I recommend getting a size small and getting some of their appetizers along with your meal. My boyfriend got the large and they give you so much more noodles with it so it was super filling for him. He's got a big appetite and even he gets a size small now! I recommend steering clear of the beef brisket, it's a hit or miss. Some days the meat is full of fatty pieces or some really good pieces of beef! Their other types of beef bowls are great though and are usually consistent. If you haven't been here, check it out! You are in and out relatively quick and it does keep you full for a long time. Facing Kennedy inside the plaza of New Kennedy Square, the restaurant atmosphere seemed a little run down. I don't know if they were going for a rustic theme for old streets in China or if the place just wasn't well kept. We had ordered the Beef Brisket Noodle ($9.99 for a large, $8.99 for a small), the Meat Sauce Noodle ($8.99 large, $7.99 small), and Beef Noodle ($8.99 large, $7.99 small). Of the three, my favourite was the clear broth beef noodle. It wasn't too heavy and a small actually had a large portion, coming with large blue chinese bowls. The meat sauce noodle came as a close second favourite. There was no soup and the noodles were served with a heaping scoop of meat and cucumbers. I wished there had been more cucumbers to cut the saltiness of the meat sauce that was served, but still fairly good. The beef brisket noodle claimed to be a spicy soup base, but it was not spicy at all!! They had a lot of beef tendon but barely any brisket, which was a bit disappointing. The good thing about Big Beef Noodle is that you get to choose your noodle type: round or flat; thick, regular, or thin. My preference is the round regular. All I can recall from my experience here was spicy, spicy aaaaannnndddd more spicy! I was here with a friend awhile back but boy was I not prepared to be hit with that much spicy in soooo long! I mean I can handle spice but still! The intensity was REAL! We came here for dinner and at the time we came it was already fairly busy (about 5:30pm/6pm), a good 3/4s of the place was filled. Mind you, their restaurant isn't actually that big so don't expect to be seated quick if it's busy. Luckily we got here just before the dinner rush hour so we were seated and then the crowd started coming. Service wasn't bad and the waiters were nice. I ended up getting the Beef with Pickled Mustard and Shitake Mushrooms with flat regular noodles while my friend got the Braised Beef Brisket with thin round noodles. I also was craving some spicy cucumbers so got that as well. Now...as you can see from the menu pictures both orders of noodle soups were spicy BUT I KID YOU NOT, mine was WAAAAY spicier than my friend's! Even he said so as well and we BOTH tasted each other's orders! What happened?!?!??! On top of that, I barely got any "shitake mushrooms" as indicated in the order...that was a bit disappointing...did they mix up orders? We will never know. In any case, everything else tasted fine and I was craving some spicy food so I managed to finish it WITH my mouth feeling like it was on fire. I'm surprised it didn't swell up like those shows/movies where you get a sausage mouth LOL! Aside from that sad part, my overall experience of the place was good.
