Ordered a cold Shiner Bock, some bone-in wings with lemon pepper, and a catfish dinner. The wings were perfect; hot and steamy, with enough crunch and seasoning for my taste. The catfish dinner was even better. The catfish fillet was big and thick; the side order of Cajun dirty rice and slaw was spot on. I was pleased.

The menu is one of the largest I've seen around here, with lots of choices and very fair prices. I stopped in because it had been years since I'd seen Liver and Onions on a menu anywhere. It was excellent and brought back some classic comfort-food nostalgia. My wife ordered the Blackened Chicken Alfredo, and she said the sauce was the creamiest she's ever had. The biggest endorsement? For the first time ever, I saw my wife ask to take a menu home. That tells me someone in that kitchen is definitely doing things right. If you're in the area, stop in and give Benny's a try. They recently located to downtown Conroe in the struggling Theater District, near various other microbreweries and Restaurants, it's a whole different place. They are running a comedy club in the upstairs, A bar upstairs and a restaurant downstairs. The food's okay less Tex-Mex now, more high end. I gotta say it isnt cheap eats, a lot of 40 dollar entres now. The drinks were okay again, probably a tad overpriced. Service was okay. The beer came in koozies that still said Willis, Texas. The sign over the bar, still said dock sidebar. But that WAS its charm. I would come to this restaurant for a special event like the comedy club, But it would not be Top of my list for a Mexican restaurant (or whatever it is now) in Conroe.

There were only about 12 patrons sitting at the bar, and our booth was in plain sight, yet no one ever acknowledged us. Since we never received any service, we never had the opportunity to try the food or drinks. Eventually, we decided to leave. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Blue Lion Pub and do not plan to return. With so many other restaurants and pubs in The Woodlands that value their customers' patronage, there's simply no reason for me to waste mine here.
