When we pulled in, I was worried they were closed. It was nearly 9AM and the parking lot was empty. We gave it a try and they were open - we were the only customers for 10 minutes or so - then people started trickling in. We were quickly greeted and seated. Coffee and water came quickly. We opted to give the breakfast buffet a try. The sausages and bacon were luke warm at best. I didn't try the waffles or pancakes - my wife tried a pancake with syrup and said it was also barely warm and chewy. The scrambled eggs, cheesy eggs, biscuits and gravy were warmer and tasted good. Some of the biscuits were softer than others - they tasted good smothered in sausage gravy. I also tried some of the pineapple, oranges and banana pudding - all were excellent. The fruit was fresh - I was expecting canned, so that was a nice surprise! The restaurant was clean, with the exception of the bathroom. It was very dim and smelled odd in there. The service was pretty good we were seated right away. They brought the wrong drinks to start out. They took our order then came back about 5 minutes later to tell us they couldn't make a Brawney Lad because they didn't have the onion. I got a crispy chicken wrap instead but it was just average. Think about a no thrills, low expectations, Coney Island service and then you won't be disappointed. For example, the server looked at the host station and said they must be out of crayons because she didn't see any. No effort to ask other staff. When I went to the bathroom I noticed a basket of crayons at a different server station so I helped myself. It's cheap food and fine for the low key life. I truly enjoyed my food. I would order it again! The fries were fresh and delicious! My partner got a breakfast item that came with biscuits. Apparently the kitchen attempted to make the biscuits twice but they came out too hard (according to staff) so they offered him toast. He accepted the offer but they never brought it to the table. This used to be our favorite restaurant - but not anymore. This is the third time we have gone there that the food was far from good. AWFUL Experience. Went here with my grandson today after a busy day at legoland. Came in here and was not greeted by any server and sat for 15 minutes without anyone approaching our table. Was told they were out of crayons For my grandson and when I asked for a waitress, I was told they only had one. We waited a total of 20 minutes, couldn't stand it anymore. Stopped in for lunch because my mother and I had been craving a with onion rings upon arriving. I placed my order and was then told that they no longer had any onion rings they were out, so I ordered french fries to replace and then I proceeded to order salad , they were out of garlic and oil dressing. How does a restaurant run out of two of the three items I'm going to order? Simple, bad management. On top of that with about 12 customers in total in the place, it took well over 45 minutes to get my order I the counter for nearly 10 minutes before anybody even approached me.... Let me start by saying this is not somewhere I would take my kid again...chef came out to speak with a guest...sounded like he was explaining himself...then stormed off in the back yelling and pounding things with anger....wanted to get my baby girl out of there asap! Stopped by here this morning to have breakfast before running some errands. Hoping for a little nostalgia with the breakfast buffet. The restaurant was run down and dirty. Sat at a booth near a window that hadn't been cleaned with bugs crawling around. Food at the buffet was either over cooked or soggy. Staff were not friendly upon arriving and seemed annoyed being there doing their jobs. It wouldn't surprise if this place shut down in the near future. Well me and a friend went to this Big Boy. It was pretty much empty and the hostess sat us then asked us what we wanted for our beverages said she'd be right back and she disappeared and we waited for about 10 minutes maybe a little more and she never came back so we seen people had come in and stood at the counter waiting to be seated and they never even acknowledge that they were there so they left so after about 15 minutes or so we just got up and left to, and there was nobody in the building except for two couples. As we were walking out the girl that seated us was making pies or something and looked right at us and didn't even say a word. So this is the 3rd time I've been there and the service sucked and the time I got food the Big Boy sandwich had barely any secret sauce on it and the other time the Slim Jim meat was over cooked. 3 strikes and I'm done. read more

My son and I went there, customer service was top notch. The majority of the waitresses seem to not have any teeth which gave vibes of a drug re-entry program etc. I ordered the farmers omelet and my son ordered the big boy burger. I have worked in the restaurant business for many years and I was highly disappointed in the quality and presentation of the food. My hash browns were literally brown and mixed in with new ones. with the old burnt ones over powering them. My sons burger was very dry like it was sitting out for a long time. His fries were burnt old and crispy. This is not the Big Boy I remember from childhood. I should have followed my 1st mind and went to a coney island. The Location on Baldwin road needs to be revamped by restaurant impossible. There was this boy there named Matthew who was just the sweetest, quite the conversationalist. Waited 15 mins after being sat to order food, I then lost patience and asked a different server if she could take my order, which she was happy to do so. I ordered the "Blockbuster" Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and was happy with the portion. The gravy was delicious, the scrambled eggs were fluffy. Paula, my server, was attentive to refilling my beverage and delivered everything including special requests the first time without having to write it down or needing to ask for anything. My only complaint and reason for not giving a 5-star review was the toast. I'm hoping the toast wasn't reused - there were 2 slices of bread cut when I was eating the first slice I noticed that there was grits (I think) on the toast. Went for the new bread bowl soups. Advertised 10 different soup offerings. However, at this location, they only had 4 of the 10 due to "low inventory". We wanted to try the Canadian Cheese, Loaded Baked Potato, and/or the Chicken Pot Pie. They have none of these. They had Cabbage, Chicken Tortilla, and two others that seemed unappealing to us. Got the Cajun Chicken Pasta instead. Mushy noodles, bland sauce...but the chicken was okay. The loaded hash browns side was nothing special and was one lump piece by the time I got to it. My fiance asked for hot water for tea twice only to have 2 different servers pass the buck then bring it. You Gotta Eat Here! My sister and I walked into this Big Boy starving, and hoping to have a good meal. We were greeted by our server (Bria) who smiled and seated us. She was so polite. We ordered our food and and when it arrived it was hot, And Delicious! We were so pleased with our selections. The salad and cold slaw was fresh, the Chicken Parmesan was perfectly prepared, and the french fries were an absolute treat! We were stuffed, yet decided the food was so good we couldn't go wrong with dessert. So we ordered the mini banana split. Oh Lord, dangerous! The strawberries were fresh and sweet, as well as the banana. Not to mention the chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and cherry on top. What a wonderful experience we had. We are currently dining in at this Big Boy location and there are only three staff members, a server, a hostess, and the cook. They ALL deserve a raise. They were handling it so well but you can tell they are stressed. Serving is stressful as is but being understaffed puts it at a whole other level. Food is great and service was AMAZING! read more
