Maybe it's the nostalgia but I love Big Boy. The atmosphere is always the same. It's like walking into a time warp, down to the wait staff! Let's be clear, the food will never be amazing but it's good! Since I was a kid I've always gotten the veal parmesan. I know...I know...veal parm at Big Boy? Just try it, it's delicious. Going to Big Boy just feels like a warm hug.

Those from the West Coast especially in So Calremember Bob's Big Boy. On the East Coast it used to Be Elijah's Big Boy, but now it's just Big Boys. This quintessential place was the creation of what we now know as a Big Mac. This is the ultimate old-school burger place. But after 30 years the menu has grown and it is much more than burgers. However the quintessential Burger is what I was there for. And it did not disappoint. The Bobs Big Boys was in Southfield Michigan. We went for a late lunch around 2:30 so the place was pretty empty so the service was great. I forgot how yummy their onion rings are. They're breaded not battered. I wish I could give you five stars but the place was a bit dirty. The menus weren't clean the floors were dirty. Overall I am absolutely delighted to have dined at your location.

I haven't been to a Big Boy since I was 6 years old! We just had to stop there for breakfast. It was just as I remembered it. The ambiance was familiar and comforting. The interior looked as if it hadn't been updated since the the mid-1980s. That goes for the menu as well. My better half and I had their famous pancakes, which tasted good. The coffee was meh, but expected and weirdly I enjoyed the blandness of their coffee? Prices were still reasonable, which made the experience even better. Nothing fancy about this place, but then again, it's only breakfast! Again, exactly like I remembered it 30 years ago. Oh and the service was great!

A private lot just off a busy road next to a large strip mall complex. The signs are slightly broken. Inside is a traditional Michigan Big Boy. Red brick, and tables and booths. Slightly classier version of diner food. Good service. Other customers appear to have been going there a long time and call back and forth to each other. Not sure how long this chain will survive, so worth a visit to see a Big Boy before they die off.

For anyone who grew up in the Metro Detroit area, Big Boy was the place you went to for a casual dining experience. While originating in California, the chain is currently headquartered in Warren, MI. It really is a uniquely Michigan thing with a much smaller presence in other states. There are far less of them now than when I was a child, but when I went I either got their fish & chips or the double decker burger named appropriately the "Big Boy". The best way to describe it is a slightly refined Big Mac, which makes sense since the sauce they use in it is practically an imitation of the McDonald's equivalent. I haven't been here in years and I only ordered this for nostalgia purposes. It tasted good enough, but I wonder if the burger only tasted great because I was a kid and didn't know better, or because the quality is just not what it used to be. I have no regrets at all, but the place is stuck in the past and the dining room is evidence of this as well. The newer generation will never understand the appeal of such restaurants, but if I had to judge it based on today's merits it is really just good at best.

Today's lunch was the "Super Big Boy Classic" hamburger. All the fixins of the original Big Boy hamburger but with 50% more meat and twice the cheese. Two all beef patties special sauce lettuce pickle cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun and French fries. For an added bonus I ordered a Greek salad and a strawberry shake, it was the perfect drink for this hot day in Southfield, Michigan. The toasted bun on the hamburger added just the right amount of crunch combined with the other ingredients was one yummy bite after the other. The fries were golden, thin and slightly crunchy. Rowla our waitress was energetic and friendly, she was attentive and very pleasant. There was a huge salad bar area with several types of salad options. Overall, the food and service was awesome!

My matcha latte was pretty mid -- not a coffee shop so I wouldn't necessarily expect anything incredible but it could have been hotter, at least. The frittata was very good and a generous portion -- I took part of it home for later. The pistachio pesto sauce really adds to it. I'd return to try more of their brunch menu (or others) without complaint -- why not!?

I do want to start with some thoughts before I give the highlights. We were charged a percent for using a credit card. I cannot speak to the in-person menu, but I combed the online menu and it did not mention that. We were also charged for ranch. Most places do not do that, and we were not informed there would be an upcharge. Most places allow you a sauce to go with fries. Also, for my meal, there is an image of an extra sauce which it did not come with, but we were charged for two small portions of ranch. Last, the server was just okay. I always enthusiastically ask questions to get to know more about a place. I asked if they had any other fruity drinks. She pointed to the drink menu and indicated just the Paloma. I said, but you have a full bar, this is the only fruity drink you make? She did not want to ask the bar, but I asked her to. The bar apparently only came up with one other drink idea, which I ended up getting two drinks listed on the menu (both very good) but it seemed like work for her to go out of her way to inquire. I also bet they could have made many fruity drinks, like maybe a Mai Tai, or some equivalent. Oh well. On the other hand, the Paloma was actually very good. It was a quality Paloma and I do recommend. Their other drink was seasonal with lavender, also a very nice drink. Most of the other places, like Honcho, I have no problem with getting a variety of drinks or inquiring about them, and the bar tender here did a great job. I came here because I was targeted by an ad on Instagram. This place was not on my radar, but since they created a meal (Steak-frites) very similar to Le Relais in Paris and New York, etc... I wanted to try it. It came with bottomless parm fries. The fries were crispy, savory, and delightful. The steak was super well cooked and was like butter. You did not even need a knife, it cut with a fork. Since I love next day leftovers, the steak was still super delicious and tender the next day. It was still like butter and cut with a fork. I would absolutely come back for that and bring the rest of my family. We also tried the tri-tip sandwich. We were told the bread was made fresh. I thought it was very good and very tender. My husband would have liked an au jus or horseradish sauce. He would try the hamburger next, but I would love another steak-frites, like right now! We were sad the coffee and pastry section closed early. In the past, at Honcho, we would get coffee and pastry after dinner since their coffee tends to be really good and quality. I would consider coming for brunch to try some. We talked to a gentleman who was part of the business as he was working hard. He was very kind and knowledgeable and took the time to hear our thoughts. I told him I was here for the steak. He thought I had a "but". I did not, it was great and I hope they can maintain that price point and the second serving of fries, because that was my main reason for visiting. He let us know the menu recently changed. I am not able to compare since this was my first time, but I liked that they had a steak dinner and pizza. If we come back my oldest loves this group's pizza, she gets it at Vinsetta, and this one looked very good.

The…read morequality and consistency are great, though I honestly think the meat would shine even more as a traditional 1/4 or 1/2 pound patty rather than a smash burger. A thicker cut would really let you taste the high-quality flavor of the beef. If you're going to order, here are a few pro tips: Get the sauce on the side: It's an excellent sauce, but you are much better off dipping. Otherwise, the burger will totally get drenched and lose the meat flavor profile. The bacon situation: They smash little bits of bacon directly into the patty. You can barely taste it this way, and it would be significantly better just served as traditional strips on top. So I would prob get it without next time. The Tallow Fries: These have huge potential, but unfortunately, mine arrived pretty soggy via delivery. I should have thrown them in the air fryer to crisp them back up, as I know they would be amazing fresh out of the fryer dripping in tallow. And they would have worked much better as larger almost steak cut fries to let the tallow flavor shine more. However as i ate them, i would still choose cajun 5 guys fries well done over them. My order for a burger and fries came to almost $40 (including tip) through their delivery service. Is it worth that price point for a delivery order? Probably not. However, the core ingredients are so good that I definitely plan to visit the restaurant in person so I can experience the food fresh and at its best.

My bf and I typically get one burger and one turkey sandwich and exchange halves. Today the turkey was awful and I threw it away uneaten. You changed everything that made it delicious. Today it was on the hard ciabatta roll. The turkey was just slices slapped on the bread when it used to be kind of shredded. There was no spicy giardenera.. The brie was just some sort of melted brie slices when before it was a brie fondue sauce. I wanted to cry. This is the quickest way to lose customers.. changing what's tried and true

It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it!
