This guy butchered my beard. I came to his shop for the first time to have a beard line up and shape done. He only uses a pair of trimmers. Any real barber knows that lineups on beards is traditionally done with a straight razor or straight blade. He made a mistake on my lineup and made me very uneven. When I returned to his shop the next day, I requested that he use a straight blade to even me out then he went right back to his trimmers. He even butchered my neck line making my beard look very thin where it was thick before coming in. Now I have to regrow it back out because this person who claims he has 50 years of experience cutting hair butchered me like it was his first day on the job. I guess he felt at the moment I came in, he wanted to destroy something that was beautiful. Dan may be great at cutting kids hair but is absolutely horrible at doing a simple lineup and shape on a beard. It very well seems like he cuts hair as a job and not as a passionate artist. It only took him 10 mins when he was done with me where a passionate artist in this field usually takes 30 minutes to complete the job. Pretty much in my opinion makes him a half a** barber. I am very well convinced that he did this on purpose. I strongly suggest that if you value your beard, Do Not Come To This Person! Thanks Dan for F*cking me up. I even tipped this guy the exact amount he charged me and this is the thanks I get. I hope you lose your barber license. read more

Tuesday July 30th I walked in the barber shop asked if they can do a low fade with a zero he looked at me up and down I had a tank top with tattoos and he told me to go to a different shop where they're Latinos. I also noticed that because my cleaners are next door, he always has Americans, and never Mexicans, this is the second time that I walk into the barbershop to ask for haircut and he tells me to go somewhere else. I was respectful, I told him that I was going to give him a Yelp review, and he told me f*** off started yelling at me . he's a racist and I don't recommend him. This place is a Class act! Went in for a haircut and a pedicure and let me tell you the atmosphere in there is one of a kind. They even offered a refreshing modelo while I was getting my 5 star pedicure. Such a welcoming and at "home" vibe. I will definitely call this place my new home. I got a pedicure here over the weekend and it was fabulous! Christine, the technician, was super accommodating and did a fantastic job. The pedicure started with a nice soak in the copper bowls and one of the owners, Dan, brought me a beverage to enjoy while I relaxed. It was super clean, private, and quiet. Dan and Marta are great barbers. I've been going to Marta for I'm thinking nearly 40 years, or since I moved here to CA. She is just excellent. Both Dan and she do a great job, whether you've been going there forever, or whether you walk in. I also get them to do a beard trim for me, and they do a great job for me with what I do then as well. Highly recommend them. I travel up from Orange now, but had been coming from Irvine before we moved. They've got a helper dog that puts on an appearance from time to time as well. read more

Best barber shop around. I used to live a mile away but I moved. I am now 35 miles away and I still drive here to get my haircut by Dan and Marta! The shop is awesome. It's like being at "Cheers" or on an episode of Friends when you are there. Every time you go in and get in the chair, there are fun discussions going on and everyone is laughing. Two TV's are on with various sports to keep you entertained. And there is even a massage chair in the corner that you can use to work out the kinks in your neck. I highly recommend this place. My oh my! I've stumbled across this place 2 and a half years ago after some barber at a shop in santa ana messed up my hair and I got my hair fixed here. Then they showed me a new hair style to me with confidence. I would always want a 2 with a fade until Marta told me to let her try something out and if I don't like it I don't have to pay and there's still enough hair to get the cut I want. And I was not disappointed! She is so skilled as you would hope since her and her husband Dan have been cutting hair for over 31 years. They had an employee who took advantage of Dan and Marta that even messed up my hair but bringing up the situation to the both of them right away told me that it was not acceptable. He had messed up other people's hair. Again Marta and Dan to the rescue and fixed my hair lol! They removed that employee known as the "fat guy." This is the type of shop you grow up in. They have cut children's hair who later became adults and began getting their OWN kids hair cut here at big daddys. Big daddys barbershop deserves a 4 and a half stars to 5! I just have to say I've been going here for about a year or so and this Yelp review was been long over due. Marta and Dan are just a lovely couple that love cutting people's hair, and they do a good at it to. They're very welcoming and genuine to all their customers. Also Sophia is fast and efficient and does great work at cutting hair. The barber shop doesn't fall into the whole appointment making scheme that doesn't sit right with me. They keep it real only allowing walk ins. Some fad barber shops have appointment systems up meaning that they charge you an extra fee just for making an appointment and if you try going in for a walk in be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes to an hour just for a mediocre hair cut. At Big Daddy's Family Barbers they keep it in a classic Barber shop formula that is so refreshing and so rare to find these days. read more

I asked for a medium fade and he missed a bunch of spots in the back of my head so I asked him to fix it and it was still bad after he was done. A couple barbers here can be considered friendly, and one lady could cut some hair. Reviews saying that Dan and Marta are really friendly and talented are either friends or wayyy too exaggerated. Marta is friendly, don't get me too wrong, but should could have conversation with you a little more than the other people sitting down and Dan. The other guy, Dan, though is really really rude. He does a sloppy job rushing your hair while talking to everyone around. Seriously man... I've had him cut my hair many times and he consistently does a pretty bad job. especially with his customer service. Sometimes I will try to talk about what Him and other customers are talking about, but he just ignores me and continues talking to the others. He did not even finish the back of my hair. And he did not show me what it looks like with a mirror (I wonder why). I went home to grab a mirror to check my bad and... lets just say I had my 15 year old sister try to fix it. I had the new lady cut my hair the time before this and she was okay. She took a little more time to make sure my hair was neatly cut. But she wasn't the friendliest barber you will go to. It seemed like she tried too hard and being friendly doesn't flow naturally. I came in on the guy that she replaced once, looked around, and he ended up saying to come back when Brenda gets there. I think this is the guy that everyone bags on in reviews so out of every I came, I made sure not to get my hair cut from him. I've had Brenda cut my hair a few times, and she has had the best customer service. She actually focuses on you and your hair. She isn't a bad barber either. I live a minute away and I always give this place a chance. Especially with the couple that owns it. Like I said, one person does a pretty good job, but the guys here, especially Dan who has cut my hair on multiple occasions, really ruin the experience. The first time I came here ever was because they were open at 9 and no one else was. Then I come when Brenda was working and it continued my pleasant experience. I came down to Anaheim to visit my mother and realized I needed to get a haircut before venturing out into the LA traffic. After a quick search on Yelp (as always) I found Big Daddy's. I was impressed. Very impressed. First, it's family owned. I didn't ask him this but I kind of figured it out after he called the lady in the back "wife" several times. Second, the interior decor is awesome. There are quaint artifacts creating an atmosphere of that of the 60's (not that I have ever lived during that time; just stereotyping). Very interesting posters and relics. Third, the price. $8 for a male haircut and $2 for the tip. I usually avoid places that charge less than $15 ever since a haircut disaster that made me wear a beanie for over two weeks. Damn cheap places... However, Big Daddy's is definitely an antagonist to the norm. Inexpensive but great service. So you might be wondering, "So what's up with only 4 stars?" Well, I think I've been too spoiled by my barber back in Portland. He takes time with my hair; it takes about 30 mins for him to finish. I used to have a barber that I go to for over 20+ years since I was a teenager in San Diego. After I moved to OC I continue to trek down to SD ever month just to get a haircut. When I had my son I, needed a place closer for him. After a bit of research and hearing how great Marta is with kids, I decided to check out Big Daddy. Marta was great with my boy. She even has candy for the kids. He warmed up to her instantly and she did an AWESOME job on his haircut. Since loyalty means quite a bit to me I continue to trek down to SD for the next few months. When life got busy (with a kid) and my schedule didn't allow me to easily go to SD as often, I decided to have Marta cut my hair as well. Boy did she not disappoint. She's very meticulous and know exactly what you want. At the end of each cut she always hold a mirror so I can see the back of my head but I tend to just wave it off because I always trust her judgment. I'm a bit sad that I had to leave my barber in SD after 20+ years but I'm glad that I found Big Daddy. I've been going to them for the last 8 years with my son. Big Daddy is a mom and pop barber shop gem that you can't find anywhere else. The walls are filled with sports memorabilia and the owners are like family. You can talk for hours just about anything. I've been coming here for a few years after a recommendation from a friend. After going to mainstream spots that overcharge, I decided that I was missing that old school personal feel. I can't speak for everyone else's hair. You have to remember haircuts are standardized and everybody has their own personal difference in hair. Dan and Marta are really good with my hair. They have another barber that has become my go-to for haircuts. Her name is Brenda. She is FANTASTIC. Before, I would make sure to schedule a weekend to go so I could catch Dan or Marta but now I don't have to stress too hard because Brenda works the weekdays (I may be mistaken).
