The green beans were a little unusual in that they had a spicy finish, but I liked that. Hubby thought the beans were good and I liked the Mac n cheese. Hubby enjoyed the sweet potatoes and thought they were sweet, but not too sweet. I love the fact that they have a full bar! It's supposed to be one of the best BBQ restaurants in Missouri When we travel cross country, we always stop at the Garth Nature Area - there's great walking trails and a dog park, and Big Daddys is just a few blocks away. Somehow, I'm always in Columbia on Sunday or Monday when Big Daddys is closed, but this time, I made sure to be there on a Wednesday. I'm so glad we stopped in. I had chicken, which was good. Hubby had brisket, which was amazing. As soon as I saw the smoke-ring on the brisket, I knew he had won the day. For sides, we had baked beans and greens beans. I personally like a spicier BBQ (over, say, a vinegar or sugar BBQ), so this was a little sweet for my taste. That said, the meat was amazing! I stopped in while traveling through Columbia. The place is an old fast food joint and works well. I got the rib sandwich. It was supposed to be three bones, but the gave me 4. I thought it was odd that I was charged a few dollars more for my son's kids meal than advertised. I had the pulled pork sandwich with bbq beans & my wife had the brisket sandwich with cabbage & the entire time we were eating we couldn't stop smiling! The cabbage side was AMAZING! This place has the best bbq, not just in Columbia, not just in Boone County, but in all of Mid-Missouri. I'm willing to stake out a claim and say that. The restaurant itself is very humble looking, workers serving meat buffet style behind glass with an old looking coke machine just out of sight. The floors are old tile and there's wood paneling and it's very very tight! Definitely nothing fancy, but that's because these people are focused on BBQ AND NOTHING ELSE! The homemade Big Daddy's bbq sauce is sweet without being goopy or thick and smokey without tasting like somebody had an accident at the liquid smoke factory. I order something that some folks call a "horseshoe" but I've never referred to it that way and it isn't on the menu. But it's Big Daddy's pulled pork nachos on a bed of fries instead of chips, with no beans. I wish I had a picture but it never lasts long enough for that. Also did I mention it's reasonably priced? We had been to Big Daddys barbecue on the Business Loop a couple years ago and I wasn't overly impressed. We decided to give it another shot at this new location. I called ahead and ordered a brisket dinner with two sides. When I went to pick it up about 15 minutes later, they had not made it and it was busy so I stood there and waited while about 10 people went in front of me not a huge deal when I got up to pay it was $20 and I thought "wow they raised their prices!". I took it home and opened it and it was a sandwich, so I had a brisket sandwich, beans and coleslaw and a soda for $20. I checked their menu online and it turns out I was completely overcharged. I had eaten Big Daddy's food as part of a company event. Delicious! Today we tried their restaurant on Paris Rd, have to say we were severely disappointed. My husband does not like pork, but most BBQ places have other options. I really wanted brisket, but the person in front of me got the pulled pork nachos, looked so good. My husband ordered the brisket, they were out, ordered the pulled chicken, out. So against his better judgement got the nachos. For 2 pulled pork nachos and 2 drinks was $34. My first bite was good, their slaw is very good, the pulled pork was ok, but I got no sauce. My husband got ready to eat his and had no meat at all on his plate, but got sauce. I went back through the line to get his pork. I tried his pork to see how it tasted with sauce, didn't like it as well. He was very disappointed. He did not eat even a quarter of his meal. I did not finish my meal either. We left, came home and he ate cold pizza from the night before. Unfortunately we will not be coming back. Today was a beautiful day to eat on a patio. We arrived at about 2 and there was a line to order. That is now you know this food is going to be great! We both ordered the smoked wings. It didn't take long to get our order. We opened it up and the smoked wings were huge! Man oh man, they were delicious. Juicy and full of smoked flavor. We had the fries and potato salad, both were wonderful. I had the homemade lemonade and that was delicious as well. There is no inside seating, it's patio only.
