Best BBQ in Columbia, hands down! I have tried several of "the other guys" in town and Big Daddy's is it. Several groups of people i have taken here have said it was the best brisket they have ever had (and they are pretty particular bbq folks). I always order pulled pork. Usually at other places i hardly touch the sides... but here, they are too good to be left behind. Meat is very flavorful and smoky... and the sauce! Woo! I stopped by there at the last minute last week. I had never been there before but have heard pretty good things about it. You have to order outside at the window, but no big deal. They take credit, debit and cash. Prices I thought were fair, menu had your basic bbq fare with a pretty good selection of sides. I ordered a pork steak sandwich and chips as I'm not a big bbq sides person. The pork steak was served open face on two pieces of white bread, I believe it came with a couple of pickles as well. The chips were Lay's plain chips. I thought it was pretty good. The pork steak was very tender, not too smoky and had plenty of bbq sauce. The sauce was pretty non-descript, not too sweet, not smoky and not sour. Just a good basic please everyone kind of sauce. They do serve fries on Friday and Saturday's. It's very clean, the clerks are very nice and friendly. They have a nice little patio with comfy patio chairs to sit in and wait for your order or you can eat at the tables they provide as well. They do sell soda, it comes in cans and is in a trough of ice by the order and pick up windows. I can't wait to go back and try the brisket! read more

I've waited 20 years for Lloyd and Fontella to serve their amazing BBQ again. I brought some back to KC (okay, BBQ capital!) for my son a couple of months ago, and now he asks me to bring back the brisket every time I am back in CoMo! I love the rib tip sandwich, which is what I got at Lloyd's back in the day. None finer!! If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out!!!! No Frills, Just Flavor--Best BBQ in Columbia I haven't made my way through the whole menu yet, but I'm working on it, happily. Love the pulled pork and the slaw dog. Can't get enough of the baked beans. Everything is reasonably priced. Big Daddy's might have the most genuinely friendly service I've ever had. Saw this on Yelp on our way through Columbia and I love BBQ, so a 4 star rating was worth a shot. I ordered the brisket and my daughter ordered the chicken. Both were very good. Loved the sauce. Just so you know, it's an outside location or takeout only. The sides were good but pretty small. The baked beans were just like I make them... And they were great. The coleslaw was nothing special. I'd rate it 3.5 stars but since I can't, I'll bump it up to the next rating. Very good though. read more

Am SO glad we decided to eat here, since seeing it on Facebook. I moved back to this area from K.C., Mo.....which we all know is the BBQ capital....well, Big Daddy's BBQ is right up there with the best of them....I had the pork rib dinner....the ribs were the best....perfect bite, but tender, not too smoky, and love the bbq sauce....not too sweet, not to vinegary. The potato salad is the mashed potato type, good flavor and the baked beans were wonderful!! My son and daughter-in-law got the BBQ Nachoes, they had me sample them and the were delish....my son and daughter-in-law really were impressed by them.....they also got the ribs to take home....except my son couldn't wait, he started eating them before we left, but they had plenty to take home....If I lived in CoMo, I would be going here probably about three times a week....but I WILL be going back.....and soon!! This is hands down the best bbq in Columbia. Highly recommended the rib tips. It's located off of the business loop, tucked behind a Payless Shoe Source. But don't be fooled by its humble digs. Service was quick and friendly. Prices were good for the amount of food you got. Brisket was tender and well seasoned. Only criticism is the spices used in what I think is the rub? It has the aftertaste of a bowl of chili not bbq, and the coleslaw was a little bland. My bf loved their beans, and pulled pork. read more

Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. My boyfriend and I got pulled pork sandwiches the first time we went there and though it was the best meat we've ever had. We then tried the nachos and ever since then have gone back at least once a week to get some. This place is so good and the people who work there are some of the friendliest people. read more

I was unimpressed by this joint. The people were very friendly, but the ribs (while plentiful), were tough and many went uneaten. The beans seemed straight from the Campbell's can. The pulled pork was the best part of our meal, but even then, it wasn't GREAT. Maybe 3 of 5 stars for pork only. I was disappointed in the ribs and really wanted to like this place. The small sides basically came in large condiment cups and were $2/each. That seemed pricey IMO. read more

Amazing flavor on the bbq meat and sides. My critique is that the meat is fairly tough to chew and the portion size of the side dishes needs to be bigger. Tenderize your meat and put out a bit more on the sides and I'll give you 5 stars. read more

I've eaten barbecue all over the the state of Missouri and in a few other states. I was raised on the Hickory Stick in Carrollton, MO and would call myself a student of the KC flavor after making the rounds in Kansas City countless times. Missouri is full of good barbecue and Big Daddy's brisket is among the best I've eaten. It's tender and moist, but not too fatty and not chewy at all. The pulled pork is no slouch either, but i think the true test is always the brisket. It's much more difficult to get right. Big Daddy's gets it right. The signature homemade sauce is unique and authentic. A good barbecue meal is about more than just the meat and Big Daddy's beans deserve high marks too. This place is a gem and the owners and employees could not be nicer people. read more

Found this great little BBQ spot on our road trip from Oregon to North Carolina. Met the friendliest lady taking orders and also talked with Big Daddy. They were the coolest people - so down to earth and welcoming. I had the rib open face sandwich and my nephew got the brisket sandwich. Both were delicious.
