The bbq we got was really good and the staff was lovely. Took out the food and really enjoyed our meal when we got home.

Seated quickly, order taken quickly, The food was very good, my table got the gumbo & megs wings for appetizer , excellent. They served bread with some kind of garlic herb butter which by the way ; My only suggestion would be that they serve the bread hot or even just warm, The herb butter would have complimented the bread immensely ( on the other hand if the bread was hot I would have eaten it all so....) We had full rack of ribs with cheddar GARLIC mashed potatoes ( awesome!) , Blackened chicken Cesar salad -to die for , best we ever had ! And also some kind of seafood pasta gumbo . All 3 dishes were delicious. Dessert was a pecan pie ( waitress put a candle in it & came out singing happy birthday. ( very sweet , we didn't ask so kudos Missy for taking the initiative) and the bananas foster also , a MUST HAVE . We had a lot of food . We all left with doggie bags & the prices were reasonable all things considered . Went for Sunday Brunch and was not disappointed. Reservations were easy enough but parking is still a bit shoddy. The brunch menu appears somewhat limited but they allow a few options from the dinner menu as well. We tried a lot for Apps. Almost everything . The standout were the wings and the clams casino. The alligator was a bit dry, the ribs were tasty but the bark was tough. For entrees.... All of us that had grits were in heaven. I had the blackened catfish on grits. YUMMMMM.... It was spicy though- and I can take a lot of spice- and very tasty. Great for a group meal (there were 6 of us) because the menu is varied enough for even the pickiest eater to find something. Back in the days (mid 90s) my ex lived on this block so I would pass Big Daddy's all the time. Despite all the time I would spend near it I never actually went, but meeting up with my ex recently I thought it was good time to finally try it and she agreed. My personal trip back in time made me realize BD has been in existence for nearly 30 years making it a Long Island Classic restaurant! It is a classic and survived this long for good reason - really delicious food! Besides that it has a cool vibe, Cajun/New Orleans style decor that an True Blood (TV show) fan would recognize. This place could have been the set. We started off giving the gator app a try because really how many places serve Alligator? It tasted like overcooked chicken really (Tastes like chicken - I love that cliche' XD ) so glad I tried, but no real need to get it again. I got the Jambalaya as my main and damn this was spicy, but really seasoned in a way where it grows on you giving your whole body a warming sensation without being overpowering. Filled with delicious Andouille, smoked turkey, Tasso ham, shrimp & crawfish. The portion was generous so I brought some home for lunch the next day. I tried the Seafood Étouffée over habanero goat cheese grits so fantastically good. I stole more than one bite of this. For dessert my friend and I shared the peanut butter and jelly pie which seemingly has been on the menu since they first opened. Very rich and satisfying - it was a good share. My family and I went to Big Daddy's on a Tuesday, which was surprisingly crowded! So I will be honest, service was a bit slow and messy but it wasn't anything where I wouldn't come back again. I think that it's possible they were overwhelmed, plus we were a party of 7. We ordered appetizers but plates weren't provided. We asked and it was kind of an after thought to the staff. We had to make due with the plates that the appetizers themselves were served on. Again, I really don't care about that but the people I was with had an issue with it. Food took a while to get to us while tables that came in after us were served their entrees before us. The waitress chalked it up to the kitchen being backed up. I got a cup of gumbo as a starter. I have never gumbo so I don't have anything to compare it to but it was okay. It was spicy and had different meats in it. But I couldn't really distinguish what meat was what. Regardless, I think it was pretty good. I got the pulled pork po boy and I really liked it. The sauce was definitely spicy but I really enjoyed it. If you don't like spicy food, I would try to order something else. All in all, I would like to go back when it's calmer. The atmosphere inside is very at home and cozy with a semi southern vibe. I live in Queens and my friend lives up state. We went way out of the way for Big Daddy's and it's worth it. I came for the Billy Carter. It is so special. I will periodically go out of my way to taste it again & again. It has unshelled crawfish in abundance. Served over their rice. The peanut sauce on it is what makes it amazing. It was just the right amount of spices and peanut flavor combined. I really can't say enough about it. Everything we ordered was delicious. The steak special was seasoned & cooked to a perfect medium rare. I actually lost all My senses except for taste for a minute with that 1st bite of my food. It was that good! My wife had a meeting in the area so I looked for BBQ places (Her favorite) and Big Daddy's came up. I made a few mistakes, first off "Big Daddy" is not a BBQ place. Daddy is making Creole food! I was on the website and saw the "The Big Pig Out" Platter with all yummy BBQ items. Sounds like a homerun so I'm heading out to Big Daddy's. My wife & I walk into a nice looking bar. There are folks setting up instruments in the corner. To the left is a dining area that's decorated with pictures of New Orleans and tin ceilings. Fun! I order a New Orleans Beer and we order The Big Pig-Out: Smoked pulled pork, BBQ beef brisket, BBQ chicken, St. Louis style spare ribs & Andouille sausage. Mmmm mm! Let me break down the BBQ: Smoked pulled pork and BBQ chicken: They perfected both dishes. The pulled pork was incredibly juicy and they did it without drenching the pulled pork in sauce. Andouille sausage links: I loved them! Made with Jalapenos, the links had some kick! My wife isn't a fan of anything kicking so she passed on them. BBQ beef brisket, SMDH. This was a hot, BBQ mess. The brisket was sliced thin like bacon?? Dry and sauced up, this was an epic fail of BBQ brisket. The ribs were also a dried out, spicy rub and sauce?! Another hot BBQ mess. Daddy makes some amazing "Cajun" food like blacked alligator, gumbo and shrimp and grits. My favorite! However, I came for BBQ which is my wifes favorite. Daddy let me down on the brisket. I had to try the beignets for dessert. Plump little pockets of New Orleans love, it comes with a chocolate dipping sauce. Yummy! If your looking for Cajun food, Big daddy delivers. Thanks Big Daddy's for having a heated outdoor tent available ! Bon G and I were in the area and hunkered for some Cajun fixins so we called BD's and inquired if they were open for lunch and fortunately they were. The tent was moved from the front to the side and had about 7 tables in it. They turned on the propane heater and it got toasty warm quickly .. Service was excellent considering outside location and they had a limited menu. The smoker was not in so no Ribs available. We had a great time and will try to make it back there soon. At one time, Big Daddy's was one of my favorite Long Island restaurants. The combination of Cajun delights and interesting specials made checking the posted menu a regular Fri/Sat event. Recently though, most of those specials have been seafood related. I'm just not much of a fish eater, so it's been awhile since we visited. Last night, the menu looked interesting... so a return to Big Daddy's was called for! Bottom line? My wife still likes the place. Me? Not so much. Her Billy Carter's crawfish was a hit, while I tried the meatloaf special. It was dry, and while a lot more of the pan gravy may have helped, with only one of us having a couple of Abita beers, the $100 tab just wasn't justified. Really? Iced tea refills are charged? During our Long Island trip to visit my nephew and his lovely family, we stopped here to eat. It all started on a Friday afternoon; we were driving on Sunrise Highway, we stopped at a traffic light and my wife looked to her left and saw a sign that said "Big Daddy's New Orleans Cuisine". We were immediately intrigued and interested. We made the decision to eat there that evening. Later in the evening we called to make reservations, Juliette told us they don't take reservations and it will be a 30-40 minute wait, but she was kind enough to take my name & number down so that she can call me when ready. We waited outside parked, it wasn't a long wait when we got the go ahead to enter the restaurant. As soon as you step inside you get a Happy and Festive vibe. The staff are very friendly and cordial. My wife got us a dozen Oysters and their Gumbo for appetizers. The Oysters tasted fresh, the Gumbo was hearty and bursting with flavor. For entrees, she ordered the Louisiana Shrimp and Grits, it was Superb!! I opted for the Jambalaya, Oh WOW! What a delicious and delightful Jambalaya! Full of meat and shrimp. Both our meals were huge portions, enough for us to take back home and eat twice more. I am so glad that wifey looked to her left that Friday and noticed this fantastic Cajun restaurant. This is the first time that I have ever done a review. I have been going to Big Daddy's for over 7 years. Every meal that I ever had has been great. Today I ordered the prime rib and it was excellent. However, the service was HORRIBLE. The server was the worst. All she could do was smile. The person that I had dinner with ordered the prime rib like I did. The prime rib came with a free hurricane drink. Since we didn't want the hurricane drink, we asked if we could substitute for what we were drinking. She said no. So, I asked if she could speak to someone. She walked away and came back without asking anyone. When she brought the check, she asked if everything was okay. I told her no and that I was going to write a critical review. She just stood there and at one point asked her to leave. She just stood there and would not leave. She said she only works 1 day a week. Hopefully, you never get this person. I used to go to the Bayou and know that someone from there opened Bid daddy's years ago. I was visiting my family in NY and decided to try this place for lunch with my son and grandson. I had a cup of gumbo which was just OK. I shared a crab cake with my son and it was just ok also. My grandson had the asian cajun ribs and they were tasty but too well done. I keep trying to find REAL CAESAR SALAD but while this was a big portion it was just lots of wilted lettuce with caesar dressing poured over it and some shaved parmesan. Not worth it read more

Omg what an amazing restaurant! Between the food, drinks, & service...5 stars all the way! Located in Massapequa, there is limited parking in the area. They have outdoor tables and a tent set up which takes up the majority of the parking lot. There is street parking close by. Inside, there is a large bar, and tables scattered throughout. They take reservations on Opentable. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted at the door and seated. I loved the decor and theme of the restaurant. The prices are wonderful. Drinks range from $10-$13. Food is reasonably priced and the portions are HUGE! Even desserts weren't a killer on the wallet. The service was top notch. Our server Lindsay was super friendly and attentive. We were given a carafe of water for the table which was refilled often. She also gave soda refills and offered other drink refills. She kept checking on the table. The ticket times were awesome. All of the food came out at a steady pace. The drinks were delicious. I had a Bloody Mary which wasn't overly spicy, but the Choking Doberman was extremely spicy (which I enjoyed). The Hurricane drink was delicious! 5 out of 5 stars on all of the drinks. & Free soda refills. The food was so good! If your a fan of spicy flavorful foods, this place is for you! Some of the dishes weren't spicy, but the majority of them were (which I loved). The portions were great. Everything came out hot & fresh! Make sure to bring your appetite for this behemoth. The rub was a little spicy and packed with flavor. The collard greens were some of the best I've ever had. 5 out of 5 stars -PB&J Pie: No wonder this is famous! This was so delicious. Tale of the tape: Creole Jambalaya Andouille, smoked turkey, tasso ham, shrimp, crawfish, spicy creole tomato sauce & rice.. When in an authentic Louisiana creole restaurant, order a signature creole dish! I had my doubts, especially given that the waitress said it was spicy, but it wasn't, at least to my taste. I even added the hot sauce to the dish to jazz it up a bit. This was excellent jambalaya, no doubt about it . . . ! If you order nothing else when you come here give it a try, you will not be disappointed! Jefferson Parish Blackened Gator Spicy blackened gator tail meat, with a pineapple habanero sauce. I was always curious about gator meat, and I had to give it a shot. The meat was firm but tender, with a flavor all its own. The pineapple habanero sauce was not hot, mitigated by the sweetness of the pineapple. With or without the sauce, it was good! Live Music "note": yes, Big Daddy's has live music, set up in the right hand corner when you walk in the front door. Unfortunately it's rather too loud, to the point that conversation is seriously curtailed during your time there. If possible, get a table as far away from the stage corner if you want half a chance to converse with your dining companion(s). Conclusion While Big Daddy's doesn't have an extensive menu, the tempting choices they do offer may have you decision deadlocked on what to order. Haven't been here in a few years, but was dying for some shrimp and grits. They did not disappoint!! First we had grilled oysters that were delicious. Then onto the shrimp and grits. So many shrimp in one order they could have fed 2 people. The grits were creamy, cheesy and so satisfying. The cocktails were also killer. I will admit that I had my apprehensions about how my visit was going to pan out at a local New Orleans style restaurant with Mardi Gras and DixieLand paraphernalia. I have to tell you guys I throughly enjoyed the food here. My crab cakes were plump crab meat combined with filling that was deep fried and topped with a perfectly spiced cream sauce. The rest of my family and friends enjoyed the stuff shrimp, shrimp and grits and cheeseburgers for the simple tastebuds. The staff was so friendly, attentive and accommodating to our party of approximately 30 people. There was also live music to enjoy. I would recommend this restaurant for large groups. We're suckers for apple flavoring and their seasonal mule (which is my go to everywhere I go) was apple cider. AMAZING I'm craving it again this very moment. Our app was baked clams and they were delicious. Nothing too special about them but I love ordering clams. You also get bread and butter when you sit down and the butter was oddly flavorful. Odd in the best way- it reminded me of veggie cream cheese, but it was butter. So..take that as you please. Our waitress was very sweet and extremely helpful in helping us decide on our choices. I knew I wanted the pasta jambalaya but she explained that the crawfish was going to be very strong with the peanut butter taste (so keep that in mind peanut butter lovers!!) but he was so happy with that dish once he took his first bite. The pasta. jambalaya. I am so happy. I'm currently eating my incredible leftovers. Everything about it just made my taste buds dance. There's a kick to it and that's my favorite thing when it comes to pasta. The spicier the better. Their portions are BIG, the prices are fair. I'm already itching for another visit.
