I only gave them 3 stars because the restaurant is really small so the seating is limited and the although the food is good for the price it was a little bland. Authentic NOLA food in a hole-in-the-wall. Their brunch is delicious, and if you wait until 11 (or is it 12?) you can order mimosas and bloody mary's. I recommend the breakfast po boy and anything with andouille sausage. Service is also wonderful; the wait staff is really friendly and, from what I saw with other customers, very patient. This place is amazing. Being from Pensacola and living in Atlanta, this brings a lot of the food I grew up on to Atlanta. If you like fried crab claws, these are every bit as good as you get down at the beach. They're red beans and rice are also the best I've ever had. Honestly, the food is ok. The PoBoy is super good but the actual Cajun/Creole food (jambalaya, red beans & rice, etc) is pretty underwhelming. The seasoning just isn't there but they try. The fried seafood is really great, especially the PoBoy. As far as the atmosphere, if you're a minority.... it will be uncomfortable to be quite honest. The staff is polite and nice; however, I really think it's the patrons. It seems that most of the customers are regulars to the bar and they aren't very welcoming (it's not their job to be though lol) and they kinda stare at you. I've only sat down to eat once and I actually only took a few bites before getting my food to go because I felt so uncomfortable with the stares. This place is underwhelming for various reasons. I went one time alone a couple months ago and realized I was a minority in the establishment. I have a thing where if I'm not greeted within a few of entering, I'll walk out. Additionally, kind of felt uncomfortable with the eyes on me upon walking in so I walked out. I decided to give it another try last Friday with a guy friend and it was the same uncomfortable feeling walking in. I made no comment on the feeling; instead he mentioned he felt uncomfortable.... which confirmed mine. This time I decided to eat and order jambalaya. It had little to no seasoning and there was a distinct white rice taste over powering the poorly-seasoned meat. The jambalaya doesn't have a soft texture. It reminded me of cooking it at home out of a box, but way less flavor and sodium (coming from a person that has a low sodium diet, I couldn't taste much seasoning). The broth used for the gumbo is very thin and doesn't reminds me of boxed products as well. The sausage is good though. Our waiter was very nice though, helping narrow down choices and strongly recommended the jambalaya. My guy friend enjoyed his meal but said he wouldn't go out his way to return because the food wasn't memorable nor remind him of NOLA. The booths are great to sit in, even with loud music & loud parties in other booths, it was still very easy to hear my friend speak with inside voices. ALSO: the beignets taste like bread baked with sugar sprinkled on top. Very little taste and not authentic, nor do justice to the city of NOLA unfortunately. We love this place! It's a go to spot and feels like our neighborhood secret even though they've been around forever- it takes us both back to the comforts of home. My husband and I come here about once a month when we are craving fried seafood. I have tried quite a few things on the menu but my favorite thing to always come back to is the fried crawfish basket. You can't beat the portion for the price compared to other restaurants that serve fried crawfish and when it's hot out of the grease it's DELICIOUS! I usually order the basket and get an extra side of fried crawfish for only $4 more. The bourbon bread pudding and the fried lobster claws are also my favorites. They have several New Orleans style mixed drinks that taste good but I find they usually give you way more ice than drink so I just order beer. I gave them 4 stars because they seem to always be slow on service when it's really busy and even when it isn't. I think they need more servers. read more

Decided to give this place a try. Placed an order to go & was honestly a bit disappointed. It took me a good 10-15 minutes to find parking. The area is very congested & I believe they share a parking lot with 1 or 2 other restaurants with like maybe 30 parking spots available (rough guess, could be 40-45 but definitely not enough space for the amount of customers these restaurants can bring in around dinner time). They also have valet at one of the restaurants so you are sharing this small lot with the valet & as we all know there's parking spots you just can't self park at bc it's for valet, what a pain. Due to the parking situation my food was semi cold. I'm also not too thrilled about the portion I received for $15 (see photo attached). The taste of the food is also pretty bland across the board & I got the combo basket (fried crawfish, shrimp, Cajun fries & 2 hushpuppies). The hot sauce definitely helps make it something you can enjoy. Also, the place is super dark inside so it throws you off completely if you're new. read more

Based on their décor and claim of "New Orleans Style" food, I figured that it would be the perfect place to watch Saints games on a regular basis...until I took the first bite of my gumbo. It didn't taste like any part of New Orleans I've ever been to. It didn't look anything like the version served to Daniel B either, which looks pretty delicious. It was waterier and flavorless, as if they'd tried to stretch the pot to serve a few more people. Maybe they had an off day? I'll never know because I won't return. I live around the corner from the "Big Easy". They've been around for almost 5 years and have been a great addition to the hood. I'm a big fan of the po' boys. Their bread is fresh. I've heard baked and delivered daily. The bread reminds me of the old "French Quarter" on Peachtree. The Voodoo shrimp rocks the house. I hate to compare but it's somewhat like the BBQ shrimp at "Parish", but better and not twenty bucks. It's nonsmoking and you don't have to pay $5 for a beer (unlike the bar next door, "Fox and Hound"). They have Abita and Dale's on tap. No one has Dale's on tap in Atlanta. It's a non-pretentious kind of place, friendly and good place to grab a great bite at a reasonable price. read more

The food was okay and had an array of your traditional fried everything. Shots are cheap on certain days! I've lived around the corner for years now, but tonight was my first visit to the Big Easy. I'd heard good things from a few people - particularly about the voodoo shrimp, but mostly the parking situation and the smell of Fox and Hounds has kept me away. I'd wanted to try a new place, so tonight was the big easy night. I arranged to meet a friend and proceeded to belly up to the bar to wait on her. I was immediately struck by the beer selection - I guess you can't be a cajun place without Abita, but not everyone thinks about things like that. The staff was friendly and eager to please - asking me several times if I wanted food while I was waiting on my friend. The place was filled with friendly locals. And even though it was my first visit, I definitely felt comfortably at home. As I was waiting, I noticed plate after plate of crab legs go by. When we grabbed a booth to eat our dinner, we learned that it was the special and the reason that most people were there. Rachel and I opted for the crab bisque instead - it was good, but more of a chowder than a bisque, with large chunks of corn, peppers, and crab. I had the voodoo shrimp po-boy with my bisque. It was deliciously spicy without setting my mouth on fire. Rachel had the blackened chicken salad - it was huge! And it had two full chicken breasts on it. So my friend convinced me to visit this place a second time after I wasn't impressed with the first visit. She likes the catfish and bread pudding. Ok the wings weren't bad the last time. I'll just wings. We ordered a full order of wings as an appetizer. The waiter never returned to take our order. When she walks over to the table closest to us, i let her know that we are ready to order. She sends a different waiter to take our with no sense of urgency. We place our order and wait 30 to 40 minutes. No food. The rude, could care less waiter funally returns to advise us that they ran out of catfish, which is what we ordered. We shrimp or chicken. Would you like either. We reply no. Ok ill just take it off. And walk away. Never an apology what can I do to accommodate you for inconvenience or anything. Mind you my friend and don't look like the majority of their customers. So my friend began to complain to the other waitress. I interject. Whats the use. They clearly didn't care that we were inconvenienced. The waiter acted as if she did us a favor by allowing us to dine there. Funny how all of the other costumers received their catfish orders that ordered after us. Its simple if my appearance or ethnicity is a problem please be open and honest. U can assure you, I will not dine at your establishment. If it was one of their Caucasian customers I am certain that she would have handled the situation a lot different. I heard you loud and clear. went here on a lovely, warm , Sunday afternoon. Never even knew it was here. the staff was nice and friendly and sparked my interested enough to return soon. I didn't have a main entree but we tried lots of different apps. Personally my favorite were the alligator bites. seasonings were great! My coworker introduced me to the Big Easy Grille today, and I enjoyed my food very much. The prices were decent and the food that I had was delicious. I had the oyster po'boy with cajun fries, a cup of seafood gumbo, and bread pudding for dessert. The oyster po'boy was delicious, although I would recommend asking for extra creole mayo since they do not put enough on the sandwich for my liking. The creole mayo has a wonderful flavor and the oysters are fried nicely. It was a really good sandwich and one of the best po'boys I have had in town. The seafood gumbo was decent. I lived in New Orleans for a minute and was spoiled by some amazing gumbo so I am a little picky. It was full of rice, okra, and had big chunks of crawfish in it. It wasn't bad. I definitely had to add a little hot sauce to mine to give it a nice kick, but overall, I don't have any complaints. The bread pudding was also pretty good. It wasn't the best that I have ever had, but the cream sauce over the top of the bread pudding was super delicious and I would order it again. However, after seeing the beignets, I actually think that they may have been the way to go for dessert. I will try them next time.
