    Mac n Cheese and Coleslaw
    La H.

This review is based solely on the takeout that was brought to me, so I'm focusing strictly on the food. I had the Fried Whiting, Mac n Cheese, Coleslaw, and Hushpuppies. The fish was cooked well with a nice crunch, but it lacked seasoning and tasted like a standard store bought fish fry mix. I was hoping for a more distinctive flavor that would make it stand out. The Mac n cheese was good, but not unique. It had a flavor similar to Kraft or Velveeta cheese. The hushpuppies had corn kernels in them, and tasted the most homemade and authentic out of everything I tried. Unfortunately, the coleslaw didn't work for me at all. It had a very bitter and sour taste, and it seemed to be missing the creamy balance I usually expect. It was not good at all. Overall, the food was OK, but other than the hushpuppies, it all tasted like it leaned on pre-made or familiar ingredients rather than a distinct memorable flavor.

After seeing the pics online I had to drive from Gwinnett for a fish sammich and it did not disappoint!! The staff was friendly, the food took a minute but I really didn't mind, the place was clean and security directed us to the parking spot. I'll be back to checkout the rooftop and get another fish sammich!! And a Killer Mike sighting what beats that??

First time here at Bankhead Seafood. They are a little slow. No Drinks or tea this day just lemonade and kool-aid. Not sure if you can get free water but they had their own branded water for 3 bucks a bottle. We went before the late crowd. Parking is very limited. The food was worth the wait though. Best Fish Sandwich I have had in years.

Salmon Philly, fries and water....pretty good!! The staff was pleasant and polite. The decor was modern and pretty chic. The sandwich roll was nice and soft, complimented the salmon well. The sauce was a little spicy but Im not a fan of anything spicy, so it's probably just my wimpy tastebuds. I did however expect more dressing on the sub, lettuce, mayo, and pickles but it still hit the spot. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy but due to the fact that we didn't want the special seasoning they were pretty bland. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely go back!

Iykyk world famous made famous by a shout-out on Goodie Mob Soul Food song back in the day! I used to come here when Mama Helen Harden had this place on lock with the $5.50 fish plate with hush puppies before she passed and the new ownership by Ti and Killer Mike. I used to happily wait in line for 15 - 20 minutes with no complaints. This is my first time visiting the new building on 5-15-2026. They did a great job with the new building and the customer service is top tier. I got the delicious big ass fish sandwich it's huge combo with seasoned fries and the grape koolaid. I got my mom a order to go also she got whiting and shrimp and hush puppies. On our way out of the door some guys were taking a picture with Killer Mike. I waited until they finish and gave Killer Mike a what's up and congratulations on the Granny's and told him that I rocked out at The Tabernacle and One Music Festival with him he dapped me and nephew up. Great experience. Definitely worth the trip not a disappointment. Pull up and check them out for yourself!

Bankhead Seafood was a good experience. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and came out hot. You can definitely tell they take pride in the quality of their seafood. The restaurant itself was clean and had a comfortable atmosphere, which made the visit even better. The bartender was attentive, polite, and made sure everything was taken care of without us having to ask. Overall, good food, good service, and a clean environment. I'll definitely be back.

The service and vibe was immaculate. Its so hard to find a spot in Atlanta that has good customer service. The food was good. Some pros and cons. Below is the details: *Crab Claws : the garlic butter was great. Some of the crabs where perfect and soft and most if the crab tasted over cooked and harder the chew and eat. 5/10 *Mac & Cheese : flavorful, and baked perfectly. 10/10 *Fish Sandwich: crunchy, big serving and fresh! The only con was the old fries served w/ it. 7/10 * Peach Glazed Salmon: the salmon and glaze was bomb! The mashed potatoes were flat and also seemed old. The green beans w/ turkey neck was BOMB! 8/10 May come back and this time will try the fried fish basket, it seems to me the most liked meal on the menu.

Oh my is this place hitting! We came here decades ago when the line was wrapped around the parking lot and you could not sit inside. The food was a lot of fish with fries for about $3. Now, Ti and Killer Mike have bought the place. It is an upscale Bankhead Seafood with the fixin's. We sat down inside and ordered 2-piece fried Catfish, 6-piece shrimp, 2 hush puppies, fries and Cole slaw. I could not finish it all. When I tell you they did their thang, they did their thang! Way come back to where I first fell in love with Atlanta, the AUC and soul food eating! You can not beat their great customer service. The soothe sways of R & B playing in the background is a perfect trendy atmosphere. True Atlanta feels. Check them out. It will not disappoint. C'Lena the server took really good care of us. She is the bomb!!!

The ambiance and vibe in this place is elite! The food was so good that I forgot to take photos. We had the 2 piece catfish and 6 shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. The trap lemonade was my favorite! I will be back next time I am in the A!

My sister in Baltimore put the idea of fish in head this morning while wishing her a Happy Birthday. I had errands to run. All were on the Westside. So I thought I'd give this a try. While I've loved the old place for years. This is not it. I ordered the Bankhead platter with pollock and shrimp. First off the shrimp was definitely not fried long enough and the pollock was fried way to hard. The flavor was there. The cooking was not. The fries were very soggy too. I told my waitress and got a "sorry about that". They only have corona and one other beer. Nice bar setup. I have to say I'll be looking elsewhere for a fish dinner. So $35 later I went to McDonald's for something quick after I left. I will say the staff seemed very nice.

The disappointment on my face after paying $12 for some fish that taste like NOTHING

Very good table service made extra points with making a birthday a special one. Music is good and at a volume level where conversation remains the primary focus. For me, this is a special occasion only spot, b/c the prices are a bit steep (especially since their sushi, oysters, and lobster roll are more expensive than they are in Boston). I think the logistics of getting fresh seafood makes it more expensive in Atlanta for certain selections? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that one. Also would have appreciated an oyster being taken off the bill when I informed the server it was a bad one. All in all ok, knowing that's a known risk with eating them.

This had been on our list of steakhouses to try for quite some time, so we came in with high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of them. I started with a $20 smoked Old Fashioned, a cocktail I order regularly at steakhouses. When it arrived, it was nearly clear in color and tasted either heavily watered down or extremely light on bourbon. After I mentioned it, the bartender kindly offered to remake it. While I appreciated the gesture, the replacement took roughly 10 minutes to arrive and ultimately seemed to go in the opposite direction--essentially bourbon and bitters with no noticeable sweetness from sugar or simple syrup. Neither drink felt remotely worth the price, and by the time the second one arrived, much of the meal had already progressed. Things continued downhill when our $35 Crab Louis Salad arrived. The portion of crab was surprisingly small, but more concerning was the fact that multiple gnats or fruit flies were hovering around and landing on the salad while we were trying to eat it. To make matters worse, during the meal I looked down and noticed what appeared to be an old piece of bread and a French fry on the floor beneath our table, seemingly left over from a previous service. It raised questions about the overall attention to cleanliness and detail. What should have been a memorable celebration turned into a disappointing experience. Between the poorly executed cocktails, insects around the food, delayed service, and cleanliness concerns, this visit was a major letdown. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but for the prices being charged, the experience simply did not match the expectations.

As someone who genuinely enjoys supporting Black woman-owned businesses, I was especially excited to visit for the Juneteenth fish fry. The restaurant advertised the special heavily on Instagram and encouraged guests to make reservations through OpenTable, which we did. Given both the holiday and the promotion surrounding the event, it was reasonable to expect a larger crowd and prepare accordingly. The Juneteenth special was priced at $18.65 and included your choice of fish with fries, grits, or spaghetti, along with a roll and coleslaw. For the price, the amount of food was certainly fair, and I appreciate the effort to create a special menu for the holiday. Unfortunately, this visit reminded me why it had been some time since my first experience here. Once seated, service became very inconsistent. Our server was pleasant whenever we saw her, but we only saw her a couple of times throughout the meal. Refills, check-ins, and updates on the food were limited, and the overall pace of service felt very slow. The food itself was mixed. The collard green roll was easily the standout item and was the one thing I truly enjoyed. The fish had an interesting flavor profile that seemed to include curry or turmeric, which I did not mind, but it was heavily salted and overly seasoned for my taste. The coleslaw portion was extremely small, amounting to little more than a spoonful. What stood out most was the inconsistency. Portions varied around the table, and several people in our party did not finish their meals. We also noticed multiple surrounding tables leaving food behind and openly discussing the lengthy wait times and service issues with one another. I understand that holidays can bring larger crowds, especially when people intentionally seek out Black-owned businesses to support on Juneteenth. However, because reservations were accepted and encouraged, the restaurant appeared unprepared for the volume of guests it anticipated. I truly wanted to enjoy this experience, and I will always support Black-owned businesses when I can. The staff members we encountered were kind, but the execution, service, and consistency simply did not match the occasion this time around.
