I was super excited to eat here & a drive across town to treat my boyfriend because he love fried fish sandwiches. The visit started off great, the hush puppies and shrimp were good.. we realized my bf's fish was inedible. The whiting that they served tasted old and refried. As if it had been sitting and then it was recooked. We we asked for new fish, management said no. I guess because my boyfriend ate a piece of bread and a half piece of fish. We had already paid and tipped the nice server however the character of management is why I'd never return. The manager didn't even address us, look at our food or attempt to resolve the issue. The fish was visibly dry. I was truly disappointed and my bf ended up leaving hungry.

After seeing the pics online I had to drive from Gwinnett for a fish sammich and it did not disappoint!! The staff was friendly, the food took a minute but I really didn't mind, the place was clean and security directed us to the parking spot. I'll be back to checkout the rooftop and get another fish sammich!! And a Killer Mike sighting what beats that??

First time here at Bankhead Seafood. They are a little slow. No Drinks or tea this day just lemonade and kool-aid. Not sure if you can get free water but they had their own branded water for 3 bucks a bottle. We went before the late crowd. Parking is very limited. The food was worth the wait though. Best Fish Sandwich I have had in years.

Salmon Philly, fries and water....pretty good!! The staff was pleasant and polite. The decor was modern and pretty chic. The sandwich roll was nice and soft, complimented the salmon well. The sauce was a little spicy but Im not a fan of anything spicy, so it's probably just my wimpy tastebuds. I did however expect more dressing on the sub, lettuce, mayo, and pickles but it still hit the spot. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy but due to the fact that we didn't want the special seasoning they were pretty bland. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd definitely go back!

Iykyk world famous made famous by a shout-out on Goodie Mob Soul Food song back in the day! I used to come here when Mama Helen Harden had this place on lock with the $5.50 fish plate with hush puppies before she passed and the new ownership by Ti and Killer Mike. I used to happily wait in line for 15 - 20 minutes with no complaints. This is my first time visiting the new building on 5-15-2026. They did a great job with the new building and the customer service is top tier. I got the delicious big ass fish sandwich it's huge combo with seasoned fries and the grape koolaid. I got my mom a order to go also she got whiting and shrimp and hush puppies. On our way out of the door some guys were taking a picture with Killer Mike. I waited until they finish and gave Killer Mike a what's up and congratulations on the Granny's and told him that I rocked out at The Tabernacle and One Music Festival with him he dapped me and nephew up. Great experience. Definitely worth the trip not a disappointment. Pull up and check them out for yourself!

Bankhead Seafood was a good experience. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and came out hot. You can definitely tell they take pride in the quality of their seafood. The restaurant itself was clean and had a comfortable atmosphere, which made the visit even better. The bartender was attentive, polite, and made sure everything was taken care of without us having to ask. Overall, good food, good service, and a clean environment. I'll definitely be back.

The service and vibe was immaculate. Its so hard to find a spot in Atlanta that has good customer service. The food was good. Some pros and cons. Below is the details: *Crab Claws : the garlic butter was great. Some of the crabs where perfect and soft and most if the crab tasted over cooked and harder the chew and eat. 5/10 *Mac & Cheese : flavorful, and baked perfectly. 10/10 *Fish Sandwich: crunchy, big serving and fresh! The only con was the old fries served w/ it. 7/10 * Peach Glazed Salmon: the salmon and glaze was bomb! The mashed potatoes were flat and also seemed old. The green beans w/ turkey neck was BOMB! 8/10 May come back and this time will try the fried fish basket, it seems to me the most liked meal on the menu.

Oh my is this place hitting! We came here decades ago when the line was wrapped around the parking lot and you could not sit inside. The food was a lot of fish with fries for about $3. Now, Ti and Killer Mike have bought the place. It is an upscale Bankhead Seafood with the fixin's. We sat down inside and ordered 2-piece fried Catfish, 6-piece shrimp, 2 hush puppies, fries and Cole slaw. I could not finish it all. When I tell you they did their thang, they did their thang! Way come back to where I first fell in love with Atlanta, the AUC and soul food eating! You can not beat their great customer service. The soothe sways of R & B playing in the background is a perfect trendy atmosphere. True Atlanta feels. Check them out. It will not disappoint. C'Lena the server took really good care of us. She is the bomb!!!

Our daughter spent the first few minutes waving at the staff, and they genuinely lit up every time -- such a warm, welcoming vibe right from the jump. Starters We kicked things off with the she‑crab soup, and that's when we knew the meal was going to be special. Tons of rich crab flavor and chunks of crab. The crispy shrimp toast was another hit -- crunchy, savory, and a great pairing with the soup. We also ordered the Baker's Dozen oysters, chef's selection. All 13 were fresh, clean, and briny in the best way. Next up: the Spanish octopus, and honestly... top five octopus dish we've had. Cooked perfectly -- tender, melt‑in‑your‑mouth texture. The salsa macha added just the right amount of heat, and the marcona almonds brought a great crunch with the cilantro, lime, and mint brightening everything up. What a beautifully composed dish. We finished with the Halibut and Lady peas. The Halibut was topped with lobster and served with a lobster butter sauce, chives, and capers. Rich, buttery, flaky, and perfectly cooked. The lady peas (fava beans, asparagus, and a generous mound of blue crab) were another standout. So much flavor, but everything complemented each other instead of competing. One of those sides you keep looking for more of when it's gone. --- Overall Every dish was thoughtful, balanced, and executed at a high level. Service was warm and genuinely kind -- especially with our little one. 10/10 would recommend

Over the years we've seen things decrease especially at the optimist. The hosts were great and they always give us great service but the food had been the lacking the last couple of services where the she crab soup lacked crab, the swordfish over cooked multiple times. This time in particular we ordered the whole lobster and was offered to have it taken out of the shell for us. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. When we got the lobster we got a full tail but one claw and no knuckles. When we addressed with the server, she argued with us that that's how a lobster is and that there could be more meat hidden on the plate. It felt like she thought we were there to just get more food by saying "so what do you want, more meat" but if we had it in the shell we would have received our full portion. The manager on duty tried to make it up to us by comping the lobster but it was more than that. After going back and forth with the server we just wanted the check to leave. The manager on duty insisted to give us the lobster and take it home. The server wasn't very polite and argued with us about the lobster. I wish I remembered the servers name With that said, the amount of money we have spent there over the years, it's unfortunate that that will be our last time going to the Optimist.

For our 4-Days trip, we ate here for two days!! Trust me - their Lobster Bisque is a must get. Unlike many restaurants where "lobster bisque" is more like "lobster flavored heavy crème"... Steamhoise Lounge's Lobster Bisque is loaded with lobster meat and perfectly flavored soup, and not too salty. (Yes; saltiness is my pet peeve as many restaurants masks their flavorless food with loads of salt) The oysters in their raw bar are "fatty" with a hint of ocean saltiness. Their peel and eat shrimp is fresh and crunchy... oh so good!! And finally - I love their Fisherman's Stew.., again, the dish is perfectly seasoned with super fresh seafood. SO GOOD!!!! A must try spot for your visit to ATL.

I walked here, so I can't speak on the parking situation, but it didn't look too busy outside (around 7 PM). Vibes inside were pretty nice and casual. FOOD: The Wednesday special is a great deal, where a dozen raw oysters are $15 and a half dozen char-grilled oysters are $10. Raw Oysters (4.5/5) - I have to preface by saying that I am not usually a fan of raw oysters; however, I thoroughly enjoyed the ones here. They were mild in flavor and tasted fresh. There are plenty of hot sauces available at the table to dress up your oysters. The platter of oysters also comes with horseradish and cocktail sauce. I must say I really enjoyed the oyster and horseradish combo. Char-Grilled Oysters (4/5) - Grilled with a garlic parmesan coating. It was nice, but I actually preferred the raw oysters! Not overcooked. Lobster Bisque (3.25/5) - Creamy and pleasant, but I don't think I could eat a lot of it. I'm glad I only got a cup of it to share. Claimed to be "Atlanta's BEST for 25 years," so I had to try. First experience eating a lobster bisque, but the chunks tasted more like imitation crab? Probably would skip if I returned here. SERVICE: Service was pleasant, but not super fast. Getting your order taken took a hot minute, but once that was out of the way, you got your food pretty fast. TLDR// I would come here every Wednesday if I lived in Atlanta because the oyster specials are such great deals. Can't speak on any other menu item, but you can't beat the price on Wednesdays.

Making reservations was incredibly easy through OpenTable, and I was pleasantly surprised by the convenient valet service for only $3. It was an effortless start to what turned out to be an exceptional dining experience. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the host and promptly escorted to our table without any wait. Our waiter, Kevin, was phenomenal. He did an excellent job explaining the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations, and making sure everyone's needs were attended to throughout the afternoon. The service was attentive without being overbearing--truly excellent and unforgettable hospitality. We started with the Chargrilled Oysters, Oysters Rockefeller, and Calamari. Everything was satisfying, but the calamari was the standout for me. It had the perfect crunch and was quite literally fried to perfection. I would absolutely order it again. These appetizers are true staples and a great way to start the meal. We also enjoyed several rounds of cocktails. The bartender was able to execute a few off-menu, custom cocktails perfectly, and there were absolutely no complaints from our table. Everything was well-balanced and thoughtfully prepared. For my entrée, I ordered the Blackened Branzino with lemon-herb beurre blanc, paired with whipped potatoes and Vichy carrots. By far, this is one of the best seafood entrées I've had in Atlanta. I've had branzino at plenty of other restaurants, but this one? It clears the competition and has officially claimed the #1 spot on my list. The fish was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the sauce and sides. The rest of our party had equally impressive meals. I had the opportunity to sample the 12 oz. Prime NY Strip, Blackened Salmon, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Brussels Sprouts, Green Beans, and Clam Chowder, and everything was amazing. There wasn't a single dish that disappointed. Overall, this was truly an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. Great food, phenomenal hospitality, attentive service, and an atmosphere that made celebrating my mother's birthday feel special. I'm already looking forward to returning--and next time, I definitely want to check out the patio! A true standout for seafood in Atlanta. Highly recommend.

We decided to check this out for lunch on our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised! IMO - this…read moreplace is really under-rated on here. Their lunch menu is really affordable with $6 apps and only $30 for TWO lobster rolls?? WILD. All in including margaritas was just over $50 and honestly that's a price you're not getting anywhere else. Especially considering the quality of both the food (those mussels are EPIC) and the service (shout out to Mars!) Would recommend? 100% Would return?? Definitely!

For a Bankhead neighborhood fast food place that is not fancy in any way, I love the food. It's…read morebasic seafood, wings and other things, but it's consistently cooked to order and tastes great. My favorites are catfish, whiting, wings and shrimp. My favorite side is the always crispy fried okra. Others regularly order their favorite crab legs and seafood boils. Not much ambiance as it's meant as a 'hood takeout joint. Best advice: order ahead to avoid having to wait during peak evenings and weekends.

First thing I want to mention is the customer service -- the cashier had a beautiful spirit. She greeted everyone who walked in, was very kind, and made the experience welcoming. That alone goes a long way. As for the food, I ordered the turkey necks with corn, potatoes, and broccoli. They were okay -- not bad, but not something I would rush back for. We also tried the fried shrimp and fries, and I could tell I came later in the evening because the fried food didn't taste as fresh. The grease seemed old, which affected the flavor. That said, I'm trying to be fair. I came toward the end of the night, so I don't want to judge the place completely off that visit. I plan to come back earlier in the day when they first open to see if the food quality is different, because fresh grease and fresh batches definitely matter. I'm from the Westside and I really want to support places in my area. This visit just wasn't my favorite, but I can see how others may enjoy it -- especially if they come at the right time. I'll update my review after I give it another try.
