After passing Big G's multiple times over the past few years, I decided it was time to stop in and see what it was all about. There aren't a ton of NY style pizza places in the city and this one does not disappoint. Their garlic knots are super tender and tasty, enough garlic to leave you wanting more but not a disgusting breath after. The pizza itself was cooked well, not soft but not over crisped, was easily foldable which is key with NY style. Their blueberry lemon cookie sealed the deal with the meal. All in all a great place that I will definitely be ordering from again soon read more

I was on my way to yakzies to meet up with some friends on St. Paddys and I was like wow I need a snack. I just happened to be passing this place. It seemed unassuming and like it would be a quick fix for my impending hangery attitude. I was right! Big G's is a super underrated spot. The slices are big with a wide variety of toppings. They really have a unique selection like tortellini! I had stopped here for a slice on St. Paddys day weekend and even though the place was super busy the customer service was great and it was quick. Wow, the Yelp filter has been working overtime on this place. Fifteen reviews written and ten filtered...and maybe at least two more that should be. It takes balls to open a place just like Ian's less than half a mile up Clark Street FROM Ian's (or Dimo's as it is now called) but it takes even bigger balls to take them on head-to-head on their most famous item. Big G's advertises the best mac and cheese pizza in Chicago. Like, out of the two shops who now sell it? It's a battle royale. My contempt for this particular pizza topping is on the record, but otherwise I can get down with pizza toppings based on other popular foods. However, you can't succeed based strictly on a gimmick: the product still has to perform, which Big G's mostly does. First and foremost, Brandon A. is absolutely right--Big G's crust is probably the best around. I first had a pepperoni and mushroom triangle (walking home from Wrigley Field after my Phillies whaled on the Cubs 9-2 a couple of weeks back--boo yah) and was impressed by the superb crust and nice balance of the slice. My wife and I were disappointed that out of nine varieties either on the counter or coming out of the oven soon, there were no vegetable options. Technically two of the pizzas were vegetarian (based on pasta dishes) but we prefer vegetarian options with actual, you know, vegetables. That selection was improved on the occasion of my second visit, when they had a spinach/tomato/feta, and a mushroom/red pepper/feta. I enjoyed a slice of the latter, plus a slice of the barbecue pulled pork. The employee on duty (maybe an owner or manager?) offered to bake any type of pie that we wanted if we were willing to wait ten minutes. That was pretty cool. They were also sampling little squares outside on the sidewalk--mac and cheese and barbecue chicken, the latter of which I did nibble (for the sake of research). So overall I've tried four varieties and they were all very good. I particularly liked the mushroom/pepperoni and the mushroom/red pepper/feta, with the pulled pork and barbecue chicken coming in around the B/B+ range. So I'm going to give them a 3.5 because they do a better crust than Dimo's but overall I prefer the incumbent to the upstart on a couple of minor points such as variety of available slices and comfort of the dining area. But the service is good at Big G's and they are obviously trying to build customer relationships and carve out a healthy market share. So give them a try. When they reach 1000 likes on Facebook or 50 Yelp reviews, they will offer a $2 slice special to all customers. But I'm not sure if that is total reviews or unfiltered reviews, so 0/1 QMHs stay away. read more

Cant say I have ever been here after a night of drinking. Look for what it is worth, it's good. Cheap(ish) slices with different but great toppings late at night. The pizza is good, I think osmeo f them I might enjoy sober. Just know a few things before you go: 1. It's wrigleyville 2. There are going to be drunkin douche's there 3. You Will Burn the top of your mouth, it's just going to happen 4. Someone will do something you will laugh at 5. You will leave feeling good and had carbs to suck up the alcohol Service is good, workers are awesome for keeping their cool with the location they are at and drunkin idiots. read more

Wanted to get pizza before the Cubs game and found this hole in a wall pizza place. They had the typical simple pizzas like cheese, sausage, etc and they had some unique creations too. I tried the Philly cheese steak pizza and it was amazing. The pizza slice was large with a generous amount of toppings and cheese. I really liked the crust and pizza dough. It was cooked to perfection. They do offer pizza by the slice and their speciality prices were a little pricey around $4.75, but the pizza was really good. Hope to come back again soon! read more

My husband and son have been here twice and both of our experiences were great. The second time we came, we had our friends along and we had fun playing The Battle of the Sexes game (which they provide there, along with other games); that made waiting 15 min for a slice of pizza being made easier! I love the fact that you don't have to buy a whole pizza but you're able to try out new and exciting pizzas like the Mac and Cheese by the slice. My all time favorites is the BBQ steak and fries and the chicken Alfredo pizza (it's called a different name I believe). I also tried the Latin Lover, sloppy joe, burrito, and the buffalo chicken pizza. The only thing we didn't care for was the brownie.... it said it was a 40 year recipe which tasted like it was described. All in all, we love that place and will be back to try some more! read more

On my first trip to Chicago I wanted to see Wrigley Field and get some Chicago pizza. Although this place didn't have the traditional deep-dish pizza I was looking for, I was not at all disappointed by the creative and diverse variety of specialty pizza that was ready to eat immediately. I got a slice of Jack Daniel's pizza and slice of the buffalo chicken. The Jack Daniel's had onion rings on top of it and sweet and savory. The buffalo chicken had nice chunks of pizza with a custom wing sauce on it that was everything I could want from a buffalo chicken pizza. The crust was a nice thickness and had seasonings in it as well, so it made the perfect base for these creative pizza pies. Will make it a point to revisit this joint when I actually make it into Wrigley for a game. I wish they sold beer here, but I think you can BYOB. read more

I always go here to get a few slices to bring inside of Wrigley Field. Staff are awesome and the pizza is huge and delicious.

Friends and I enjoyed delivery by Big G's on NYE when it was way too cold to venture outside. Delivery was timely, and the person who delivered the 'za understand the directions of the apartment and found us pretty easily some A+ navigation skills for it being cold & windy! On to the pizza! Yes, yes we did have the delicious mac & cheese 'za - and it was AMAZING. The crust of the pizza really supported the weight of the mac and cheese so you can easily eat it on up without getting it all over yourself. Seriously - if you're going to try anything - this is the slice! We also enjoyed the Savage Pizza - chicken was tasty, bbq was a nice touch - overall good - but next time might venture onto other options on the menu. Would absolutely order from here again. The group was looking for a post-game bite to eat. When we first walked in, I didn't quite understand the depth of the menu and ordered a slice of something that was on display. Little did I know there was so much more! I ordered the bacon cheeseburger slice. This is one of those places that takes your (large) slice of pizza and throws it in the oven to "freshen it up". Well, let me tell you that process WORKS. The pizza was fresh and tasty. In hindsight, I should have just gotten the slice of "Mac N' Cheese", which they tout as "the greatest". I thought the sign outside said... "Best Mac & Cheese in the city" I thought it was a mac & cheese place. But it's PiZzA!!! So many interesting versions too. I had the fried chicken and waffle pizza slice on a crispy crust with a hint of maple syrup. I liked it... I thought it could have been a tad cheesier and perhaps hotter too. But, it was good. It's all ready to go for the busy Cubs crowd and they put it in the broiler/oven for a minute to heat it up. This place would be great after a night of partying. I thought the prices were decent.
