Had what I thought was a leaking washer. Called Big H & A at 10am and they were able to send someone out same day. Hayk arrived right on time this afternoon and was great. Very honest and kind. He took his time diagnosing and explaining things to me. We discovered that the leak was actually related to the dryer and simply due to the condenser door seal that was slightly loose. He adjusted the seal, ran some tests and the leak was gone. The visit fee was very reasonable and the customer service was excellent. Highly recommend! read more

I called Big H&A for a furnace that I installed 13 yrs ago when I bought my older home. It is a Lennox and works flawlessly, but didn't kick in one morning as it was scheduled to. The company that installed it couldn't get here until the middle of the following week. I saw Big H&A was nearby and had good reviews. It was a Saturday and an appt was available within a few hours. Art arrived as scheduled--but in the meantime, the heater had kicked in (typical, right?) and he still looked at things. Nothing immediately wrong--a relay that looked like it might have problems down the road, but still seemingly functioning, as he did a few tests. He cleaned a few things and closed the unit back up and told me to let him know if anything changes. The following morning (Sunday) the same thing happened, and after numerous attempts with the programmable thermostat, I still couldn't get the heat to turn on. I called--expecting to leave a message for a follow up appt for Monday or Tuesday. Amazingly, Art answered and was at another call and would be here in just over an hour--which he was. Of course, the heat had come on again after I called, but opening things up on the unit when he got here, found nothing different. But, he did a quick adjustment to one of the wires on the board, which now--on Monday, has continued to work flawlessly. I got an estimate on the cost from Big H&A to replace the circuit board to resolve this problem--which will need to be ordered, if (or when) this happens again. In the meantime, we'll see how long this quick fix lasts--which I sincerely appreciate Art doing. He clearly knows how these units work. Through this, I am now a loyal customer and soooo appreciate the quick response and follow-up. A good solid and dependable company. read more

My dryer was having issues, making a grinding/squeaking noise that was progressively getting worse. Adding insult to injury, I had just gotten it serviced by another appliance repairman. So, I decided to give Big H&A a try. I'm so glad I did. Big H&A was professional, friendly and displayed a high amount of expertise. Once he opened up the dryer, he immediately found the issue. There was a large amount of lint that had built up and jammed up one of the wheels that drove the drum, to the point that one side of the wheel had been worn almost flat from the drum scraping against it. He quickly replaced the pieces, and then spent extra time servicing the rest of the dryer, cleaning all the nooks and crannies, and making sure everything was reassembled perfectly. He also took time to clean all around the laundry room. I wish my prior appliance person had taken all this care. Plus the cost was cheaper than the other repairmen I've used. In conclusion, I give Big H&A the highest recommendation. If you are need of appliance repair, do not hesitate to contact them! If I have any issues with washers, dryers, fridges, stoves, etc., I will be using Big H&A! read more

UPDATE: 33 days after they came, i had the same issue again. They had texted me saying if there were any issues to text them and they would come back over. Our dishwasher was flooding again. He showed up on time and was nice, but was here for less than 45 minutes and is charging us $180 to run the garbage disposal. The company won't budge and I won't be returning. Which sucks because the technician is nice. But charging $200 the first time and $180 barely a month over is highway robbery. Lol. They said only 30 day warranty. But alas minus the weekends and holidays it's under the 30 days. Even if you include Saturdays it's still under 30. So i guess good luck with that. Do not recommend. One star for cleaning it the first time. One star for the technician being nice. ORIGINAL: They were on time, addressed the issue quickly, and fixed our dishwasher very quickly! When my eight-year-old washing machine's latch broke, and locked all my toddler's clothes inside mid-cycle, I called Big H & A and they were able to come out the next day. They were able to get the washing machine open for me immediately so I could rescue all her clothes, and a couple of days later (after ordering a part) they were back out here to fix the washing machine and do maintenance on my washing machine and dryer. Mark, the technician, was prompt and professional, and did a great job getting everything back in working order. The manager, Mike, was helpful and happy to give me advice on which brands they thought were the best, in case we needed to buy a new set. Overall I was happy with the service, and will be calling them for regular maintenance to keep our machines in working order for years to come. read more

Abysmal business with even worse communication and abilities. I hired them to buy me a new window AC unit, and properly install it with the trim it came with in the premade hole. They came and measured, and gave me 2 AC units to choose from. So I assumed they did their research and gave me their best recs. I chose one and we got to work right away. Points for efficiency. But then when it came time to do the job, these guys were terrible. First they were unclear with when they would show. Then, they were late. They called to give us a new ETA AND THEY WERE STILL LATE FOR THAT. By the time they got here, they looked like they were in a mad dash and did things as quick as possible. And the final result is the picture you see here. I was told that they couldn't plug my AC in to the adapter here because it was the wrong one. Small issue, but I would have liked to have known that ahead of time. But the biggest issue is the MASSIVE gap you see here. The trim didn't work for the hole THEY MEASURED, and then they just walked away leaving all the trash scattered in my bedroom. I was the one who tidied it all up. You see that light above the unit? Thats the outside. These guys left my room out to the elements and I still can't sleep in my room cause its too hot. And what do they say to this? "Get a handyman." I can't believe a business like this is running and I really question the authenticity of the positive reviews here. No empathy from these guys from a mess up of their own accord. I wouldn't trust them to screw in a light bulb at this point. I will be fair. I was refunded HALF the labor costs. Still charged me a couple hundred for this terrible job that will cost me likely even more to finish the job! But honestly its worth it to not have to deal with these guys anymore. So all in all, stay far away. Do not use these guys. Theres a lot of HVAC/appliance repair companies out there, this is one of the bad ones. My experience was terrible and I hope no one has to deal with the nightmare I have dealt with. EDIT/UPDATE: I will give credit where credit is due. Since this review, I have spoken to the company and they have since given me a new/updated AC unit, and properly filled in the hole. The boss called and told me the mechanic who came gave me the wrong advice, recommended the wrong things, didn't know about XYZ, and he can fix it and make it right. Felt a little harsh throwing his own guy under the bus like that. I will also say that they were nice enough to switch/update my outlet for me without me asking for it. Though at first he asked for the money he refunded me back, and tried haggling some of it back. So, do what you will with all this information. I initially gave them a 1 star, I give them a 2 star for at least doing the job correctly. Albeit with loads of headache and frustration along the way. read more

STORY OF 30 MINUTES ... After I placed request for service thru YELP, I received multiple calls. I selected BIG H&A because of the urgency shown by them to fix our erratic Rheem Furnace. After the appointment, technician Art was quick in establishing communication with me thu texting. Time window of 3-5 was promised however Art was on the job by 3PM. He performed diagnostics and found "an intentional fault" created by someone unauthorized. And told me that there is nothing else wrong with the furnace. Folks, this is what knocked my socks off. Art easily could have pretended to troulbeshoot "something else" and charged me an exoberant amount. But he did not. AND IT ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 30 MUNUTES.
