One of the things that set them apart from other appliance repair companies we used is the time it takes to get the parts needed for the repair. I called them on a Thursday, they came out to diagnose the problem that afternoon and while I was expecting to wait at least a week to get parts (which I have experienced before) they had the parts and repair done by that Saturday afternoon and they even came earlier than they initially told me they would. I even experienced a separate issue that I thought was apart of the initial repair and they came out quickly to take a look at it and took care of it. Also, I should mention, my washer works great! My dryer has been having issues for months now. Other technicians have come out to fix it, but kept braking down to the point where it would not work for more than a few minutes at a time. This morning, I requested a quote from Big H&A, and not only were they incredibly quick responding, they were able to get a technician out here within just a couple of hours. Mark was on time, incredibly thorough, kind, and had my dryer completely fixed in just under half an hour. I was so happy I could cry. The issue turned out to be the lint filter - it had not been cleaned properly since I moved into my place. Mark showed me exactly how the filter needs to look, but also cleaned out the other filters and vacuumed the entire dryer to make sure everything was cleaned out. The other techs who have come out have not once looked at that filter, have never cleaned the machine, or have even taken the time to explain the issue. I am so glad it was a quick fix, but I will never, ever contact another technician to repair any of my appliances. Big H&A is the way to go. They are kind, patient, knowledgeable, and so accommodating. So grateful for their service this morning!!! read more

I contacted this company to fix my dryer. Firstly, scheduling the appointment became complicated because there was miscommunication among staff. Worked out in the end, but it was confusing andI had to drop everything. Eventually, a technician came and fixed my dryer. They said they had to replace 3 parts, clean out the vent, etc. Ended up paying what I thought was a little higher than reasonable but didn't mind since I didn't feel like I had a choice in the moment. When they left, it seemed like it was completely fixed, but later that night when one of my housemates noticed clothes were still coming out wet. I called the company and the technician came again. The technician was unsympathetic to the fact I had paid so much to get the machine fixed, but it wasn't to its original state. I was understanding to the fact that my dryer IS old so I understand if there's only so much they can do, but they kept blaming my load size, how much I use the dryer, etc. At one point he tried to blame that there was a tiny amount of lint in the lint collector? After agreeing to take the dryer apart again, he replaced another part and it seems to work a little better but it is not to the same as it was and they said there's nothing they can do. Communication with this company was overall difficult and staff was unsympathetic to my situation. Dryer is fixed for now so I am slightly satisfied. I can't say enough good things about Big H & A. I initially reached out on Yelp for quotes from several companies as my Bosch dishwasher stopped working mid-cycle. Art from Big H &A got back to me almost instantaneously, and based on their reviews, their ability to come same-day and the offer of a complementary diagnostic (just for October), I decided to go with Big H & A. Mark the technician was at my house a few hours later (exactly when Art said he'd arrive) and was very thorough at diagnosing the issue (he basically took the dishwasher apart to examine all of the components, and don't worry, he immaculately cleaned up after himself afterwards). The dishwasher ended up needing a new control panel which needed to be ordered, and Art gave me a reasonable bid and offered excellent communication throughout. 48 hours after placing the order, the part arrived and Mark was able to return to my house to repair the dishwasher the same day the part arrived. The dishwasher is now working again, and Mark even gave me a container of dishwasher cleaner that he told me would leave the dishwasher sparkling clean and smelling nice. Overall I can't recommend this company more and will definitely reach out to them again the next time I need repairs in my home. read more

My washer was making a banging noise. I called three appliance repair companies and Big H&A was the most responsive. Mark came that afternoon, so I had a diagnosis and cost quote the same day and he came back the next day to complete the repair, before the other two companies had even returned my call! It was a few days before I used the machine, and although it was no longer making the banging noise, the spin cycle was generally louder than it had been before. I texted Big H&A a short video as an exemplar of the noise, and Mark came back the next day, tightened a loose part and told me to let him know after I had run a full load, since the weight would be needed to accurately judge the repair. He also told me he lives in Santa Monica, so it will be easy for him to come back if necessary. I was very happy with Big H&A's service. They always scheduled a narrow time frame for arrival, confirmed the appointment by text, texted again when en route, and arrived when expected. I inquired about getting my commercial refrigerator door hinge fixed/replaced and asked if it they can do it. They said it would be $70 diagnostic fee just to come out so I asked if I can send a photo to give them an idea of what the damage is. After sending the pictures, they responded saying they need to ask the technician if it can be fixed or replaced. They even asked for model number of the refrigerator which I gave. They said the technician can fix it but needs to come in person to do the diagnostics to give an exact estimate. Before agreeing I asked for a rough estimate just so that I don't end up paying the $70 diagnostic fee and then them giving me a an astronomical repair estimate. They said roughly $250-$350 but not exactly sure. I thought it was weird that they couldn't give me an exact estimate since they have the model number of the refrigerator and pictures of which part they needed to replace. However I agreed hoping the estimate would be in the ballpark of what he said. After the technician came to look at the refrigerator for just a few minutes, he left. I received a text requesting the $70 diagnostic fee. AFTER paying, I get a text saying it'll be $600 to fix the hinge. I asked why the big difference in price from what he initially told me and he says the part is very expensive. He should've already known how much the part was and didn't need to come out to "diagnose" the problem. Seems like they just wanted the $70 and up charge on the repair. I asked him to break down labor and parts cost. He says he's charging $150-$200 for labor and~$400 for parts. After doing a quick search on Amazon, I found the OEM part for the hinge for $35. After sending a screenshot of this to them, their response is that with tax and shipping the part costs over $400. They do not honest business. Please do not trust this company. read more

My first time calling Big H& A aplliance repair service at 1-747-234-5044 I felt I have known Art O. for the longest time, even though it was my first time speaking to him. He made me feel comfortable enough to have his service done and this was Sunday morning Wow! He sent his associate to take a look at my problem which turn out to be my controller board. Once dignosed with the main problem I was charged a service fee less than $100. This would go to my repair bill if I continued to have his service. Art O. shows up at my house 3-days later with parts and soldering iron to replace bad capacitor. What! I was blown away by his response, the manufacturer of your freezer don't make the part anymore and the used ones are way too expensive. So he desolders capacitor and several relays and puts everything back together in less than a hour of service. Wow!! I ask him what do I owe you and for the second time I was blown away by his generosity, it was less than what I was expecting. my final conclusion to this review, I would give him 5-star and an A+ on his scores. CHOOSE THIS COMPANY. After 6 months and at least 3 other companies, one of which never showed up, and the other, our usual repair company that has worked on the unit for years but literally sat dumbfounded in the middle of the kitchen for over 5 minutes staring blankly at our Thermidor Dual-Fuel Range, we left our Service Plan options and searched online. We found Art Tech listed online showing our manufacturer as one they service and the reviews were good. We called, and Art was able to fit us in at the end of the day, and gave us an approximate 1 hour time slot. We were told he would call us when he was on his way. We got the call when expected. Art arrived on time, clean, pleasant, and wearing a mask. We discussed the issues with the unit. It had been randomly not turning on at all after the last service to repair it last year. Our oven has not worked since Before Thanksgiving! Art came out and really looked into the issue. He asked questions, and gave us good info. After about 1 hour, he had discovered the issue. I can guarantee none of the other companies even thought to look at the actual problem area. It was related to the prior service calls, many, many, many service calls for this same unit, being pulled from the wall to check the issues. The unit's cord was getting pushed and pulled, and when the unit was put back to the wall, the cord was getting pushed in to the wall and outlet incorrectly. We now have to have the plug strengthened or replaced. Thank goodness he found that issue before we had a Real Problem, like a fire from the electrical. We are now aware not to allow the unit to go too far back. Thank you so much Art. Thank you for being so knowledgable, and interested to find the issue. Thank you for answering when we called, for showing up when you said, for being professional, clean, and very very polite. Broken refrigerator in the middle of this heat. Only a little over 3 years old. No ice and 10 lbs of frozen meat in a rapidly defrosting refrigerator. I put out a request on Yelp to Big H &A because of their reviews and they didn't disapppoint. They responded quickly and even moved things around schedule-wise so they could get to me earlier than the original time. I am SO GRATEFUL to Big H & A for their professionalism and their sensitivity to the urgency of our needs. Alex came and assessed the problem. We needed a new compressor. He ran numbers with us, and they offered to work out a reasonable fee after researching our compressor model and serial number. They later called and let us know that the manufacturer offered a 10-year warranty and that we should take them up on that instead. They didn't have to do that, but that's how great they are.
