Super BBQ and more on the menu. Local IPA's, bottles, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages available. This is a great "hole in the wall" BBQ joint, so come casual off the hiking trail or ski slopes. I enjoyed the local Melvin IPA and the hubs had a Pacifico. Perusing the menu, we settled on 1-lb of "burnt ends" (the crunchy / meaty bark off smoked meat), side of shoestring fries, side salad and the Cuban sandwich & side of slaw. First off, my IPA was super hoppy and refreshing! It paired well with my HUGE Cuban & slaw. Lots of fresh shredded smoked pork, sliced ham, BACON, pickles and a great toasted roll. The slaw was tangy and not overly "mayonnaised" ... just the way I like it The hubs Burnt Ends...Holy crispy, pork tenders! These burnt ends had just enough juicy pork meat attached to make this a shareable meal...yes, hubby shared a few bites but he was all over that crispy pork bits! Add the perfectly crisp shoestring fries and his side salad (beautiful and fresh) and we were VERY happy! Our server, Zach, was hip, quick witted and not over bearing checking in on us. Disappointed with experience at this location of Big Hole BBQ, had much better results with their Victor location. Had long wait before being served even though it was not the busy time of the day. Do not eat here. I know it's Covid but they just can't handle to much business. Oh and another thing they don't bother to tell you until after you order and pay for it that you are not allowed to eat it on the premises not even outside. You can order drinks and have them on the outside tables but not your food? They need to have signs all over the place saying to go only you cannot eat on the premises, not even outside if they want to be fair to their customers. I really don't understand why this is called a barbecue place because there's only four items that are barbecue. Why they call it BBQ is beyond me. The food is awful. My wife and I are here on a Saturday night. The place was pretty full, and there wasn't a sign to either seat yourself or wait for a hostess, so we did stand kind of awkwardly unsure of what to do. We were then told to seat ourselves, and once seated, we waited awkwardly again for a few minutes waiting for service. As other reviews, the service was sub-par, HOWEVER, boy oh boy did the food warrant a five star review. We ordered way too much food, but everything sounded so good. We wound up ordering the smoked wings, buffalo style, which were some of the best wings I've ever had. Wings had a great crunch to them, an amazing buffalo sauce, and a big ol cup of ranch! My wife ordered the Mac & cheese with brisket, which was absolutely delicious. Brisket was cooked perfectly, and the Mac was pretty good--definitely get this with brisket or a meat though. We shared the burnt ends, which my wife (who isn't a big fan of fattier meats) didn't love these because they are a little fatty. For those who like tender, juicy, fattier meats, these things are exceptional! I loved the way they were cooked and so satisfying with each bite. The Big Hole fries were also so good. The fries are loaded with cheese, chives, and brisket. As far as the atmosphere, it's definitely a bar with plenty of sports on, a fairly loud in a fun way. We also got a few rounds of drinks here, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out drinks are very reasonably priced here given the area. We waited for ever to order the food was kinda cold the food was not good if you are from the south don't expect the BBQ to be what you will normally have and the margaritas are lack luster and the backed beans are not good either but if you want to watch a game or something like that the bar seems nice it is loud though and my sandwich was flipped up with coleslaw when I asked for none of it. Decided to try this place as we were starving. The service was a bit weak and the server seemed like he wasn't quite with it. We had a bit of everything as we had a party of 12. The rib tips were delicious. The Mac and cheese lacked flavor. I added salt and pepper and it tasted much better. My husband liked the ribs and the beans. I had the burger with pulled pork. This place is good. I had the brisket and ribs combo plate and really enjoyed it. For me, the spicy BBQ tasted a little too much like Tabasco sauce, which is fine if you like the Tabasco flavor. The fries were plentiful as was the fried okra. Beer options and other drinks were good. I was surprised at how much food was on the plate when it landed on the table. Just walked into this restaurant with a party of 12. Instead of the waitress Greg's she rolled her eyes and sent us to the corner with haste. She said just take two tables and the restaurant was almost completely empty. We are a Mexican American family wondering if maybe some racism was involved. It was really chill when we came around 12 or 12:30 on a Sunday. The waitress was the only one there and was working her butt off and was super nice. If you are in the mood for bbq, look no further! Came in for a work lunch and had to come back the day after. I enjoyed the "Burnt Ends" brisket along with the coleslaw. The brisket and bbq sauce is about as good as it gets. Tender, melt in your mouth. The slaw as well. Nice balance of sweet and tangy that not many places can pull off correctly. Delicious!! This joint happened to be a thirty second walk from our motel, the Modern Mountain Motel. It was one of the few places opened for dinner because most restaurants in Jackson Hole close for a few weeks in late fall (regardless of Covid). This occurs between the summer and the winter tourist months in mid to late November. My wife and I enjoyed a very filling dinner here. I ordered a half rack of ribs, a soup of the day, and side of macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately my ribs were super dry and even lathering them in the barbecue sauce couldn't rehydrate them. My soup tasted bland, but the macaroni and cheese stole the show. Probably the best mac and cheese I've ever had. She ordered fish and chips which were "okay". They piled on so many french fries she was unable to finish them. We drank some pints of local beers, but I can't remember the names. When we were done, I was told their Internet was down so no debit or credit cards were accepted. Luckily, our motel had an ATM outside. So I ran there and back to pay cash. For 2 pints, and 2 entrees we paid $51.28. They serve a lot of food here, but it is only average. However, I highly recommend the macaroni and cheese. read more
