Big horn BBQ is sort of like the McDonald's of barbecue in the sense that you're going to get a pretty standardized product, nothing great, but nothing bad either. Out of all the products that I've had here, I would say the best is their brisket. Yes, it is not the most tender, but it is flavorable and juicy. The value for what you get is a little bit less than I would like,but the prices are not as exorbitant as some of the other barbecue establishments in our area. I lean towards the 2 meat combos. The BBQ beans are good. Although the salad is a little light on ingredients. Their potato salad is passable. The pulled pork sandwich is a little dry for my taste even when paired their decent BBQ sauce. Service is efficient and it is usually crowded so plan ahead. The bread pudding is only soso and I notice they don't use any kind of rum sauce. The peach cobbler is actually quite good particularly when paired with the little tiny vanilla ice cream from Blue Bell. 2nd time this has happened!! If you are going to serve the scrap pieces of meat then you should charge scrap prices ! The rib quality is never good. Sides are dried out and old. Last time I ordered greens beans the juice was all in the Mac & cheese, which made it soupy. Just trash service & quality. The GM told me I should have requested middle pieces or drive the ribs back to the restaurant to be replaced. SMH, as a manager myself, I can see why the workers don't care. First time trying this location. I had the two meat plate with chicken and jalapeño sausage and my husband had the extra large sliced brisket plate. For our sides we tried the twice baked mashed potatoes, potato salad, jalapeño pinto beans and macaroni & cheese. We also purchased two of the truffles to take home. All of the barbecue was delicious. We really did like it all and all of the sides were amazing, with the exception of the macaroni and cheese. It wasn't hot and it was overcooked with no flavor. I ordered a 2 meat plate and it was awful. The brisket was very fatty and the parts that wasn't was dry. Seemed like it was old or not freshly made. The ribs were a little dry as well. The loaded mashed potatoes were pretty good. I didn't like the jalapeño bread and when I came in for dessert and asked for a regular piece of bread because I didn't like other, I was appalled when I was asked to bring in the other bread or pay .50 for a regular piece. So I'm curious to know what they planned to do with the bread they wanted me to bring in. Also all of the staff standing around looking at me like there was a big problem with the slice of bread made me feel very uncomfortable. A slice of bread should be a courtesy. Every time I come to this establishment, I'm never completely satisfied so this will be my last. The reviews reflect changes are needed. read more

I always want to love a bbq joint but this one really was just ok. I had the 3 meat plate with brisket, chicken, and turkey. The sides were broccoli salad and green beans. Let's start with the inside was really nice, you have the convenience of gas station and bbq joint in one, for those days that you don't really know what you want. Typical smoke house decor, simple and outdoorsy. Off to the food, The brisket was seasoned nicely but too dry to really enjoy. The chicken was lightly seasoned and needed a bit more smoke. It was tender and overall not bad. The turkey was the best of the three but just as the chicken, it needed a bit more smoke. The green beans which are hard to mess up had all the right ingredients except they went overboard with the onions which over powered the taste of the beans and bacon. A failure by green bean standards. The broccoli salad was a bit too sweet but definitely enjoyable. The bbq sauce was just bad, way too sweet with only a slight molasses note on the end. It needs a reboot for sure. Overall it is a nice place to grab a quick bite. Nothing spectacular but it will do in a pinch. read more

I don't understand the inability to put up a piece of paper on the line that says we don't have any more nachos today. The manager offered zero remedies. On FM 1764 in Santa Fe, TX. I ordered a brisket breakfast biscuit. I received a burn biscuit. I showed it to the worker at the drive-in window. He said he would get the manager, but never came back. I left because i had an appointment. Today, I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich and got more fat than meat and threw away a 10 dollar sandwich rather than waste time. I want to thank Big Horn for opening up and serving hot food ASAP. We came on Tuesday the day after the winter artic freeze. We were so thankful they were open for their drive thru & dine in after a night of no power and still had no power for a few days. Wished we took pictures of our food but we were hungry and happy to find warm food. It reminds me of Rudys with the gas station + bbq joint. But Big Horn menu have more options accommodating little ones. For $35 bucks fed 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids and I shared the combo meal chicken fried steak tender + chicken tenders with crinkle fries & gravy. I ordered a side of onion rings, plenty to share. The loaded mash looked so good so I order a small side of it and it was really good, that my toddler ate majority of it too. My husband ordered the half chicken with two sides. It also came with a drink, not sure which meal came with it. I would be back, for dine in one day. read more

I had written a review previously after a couple of exproperiences, but let me say that Big Horn listened and made everything right. All my recent orders have been perfect! Try their onion rings with original batter. They have beer batter but the original is amazing. They even have sweet sourdough buns available for the burgers. It's soooo good. The burgers taste like they're cooked over a flame. They're substantial. You won't leave hungry. Worried about floppy bacon on your burger? Their bacon is crispy perfection. I haven't tried the barbecue except for their sausage and it was very good. Try their mashed potatoes too. It's kind of like a mashed baked potato. Unique and tasty. Big Horn has decent food, on occasion I will go for lunch and I always get the one meat plate, I always stick with the pulled pork, bbq beans, and coleslaw. I have tried the brisket and was not a fan, the chicken is ok and the ribs are subpar? The sweet tea is a must for me and the banana pudding is great. Stopped by this location on a bike ride, big mistake. We got in line placed a simple order, my wife's food came out by mine never did even after asking twice , the response we were got was "we will let you know when it comes out" .....really. But guess what after 30 min and is asking twice it came out but when I told the server I believe that's mine he was like " no this is not yours" I'm sure my initial order had gone to another table. I had to ask my wife to eat and not wait for me other wise her food would get cold and cold greasy food doesn't really taste all that good. Since I didn't get my food we left this place. It was not even busy, I had to ask them to refund my meal nothing further was offered even after my wife had to eat by herself .... That's very awkward to eat in front of someone while you are doing your best to not stare. The place is nice but the staff has a long way to go. I've been many times to the one on 288 never had a glitch of any nature but this location best to stay away until they figure it out. I did see my food go to another table of course the folks there did not reject the food. Even the server at the end said there was a confusion with your ticket .... No one there to oversee what's going on the floor where customers are dining and tables with plenty of dirty dishes, and I was in the view of the staff for them to see I was not eating but only my wife, and also to see that my dish came out and got delivered to another table. Drove by this place on our way to a store. I looked up what they had as reViews here and it seemed gooD so we gave them a try. Def did not disappoint. Nice and hot.. you will find your typical sides and different meats. They also had selections from burgers and salads. Good pLace to please everyone. The place was nice and clean. The bathroom was nice and clean. Only thing is one bathroom per woman and men so if it were to be busy you would have to wait hehe! Everyone was friendly. Def recommend. Okay, this is the first " cafeteria style" restaurant I have been to , other than when I was a student in my school cafeterias. The meat here is delicious and I had a friend order a cut of meat from a particular part of the cow and she said she always orders exactly what cut and how much and has never been disappointed. I am just not a fan of this style of place ...so if you are hungry and like a whole bunch of FREE stuff like pickles, salsa, onions, various sauces ( condiments bar) and do not mind seeing food that is pre-prepared and under a heat lamp , not too expensive and pretty large portions then you will most likely be back more than once or twice. Whatever you don't see under the lamps then you are given a number on a pole to place on any table of your choosing and this place has lots of booths. Someone will bring your order right yo your table. Also, you just eat and leave. Nobody here seems to clean up after. ‍ I also notice most do not leave tips. There is also a very nice candy counter with various , colorfully decorated chocolates right as you enter to get your tray and get in line with everyone else. Never have I indulged but maybe someday? I've visited this place before and truly enjoyed their BBQ. Today I decided to try one of their burgers displayed. I placed my order through the drive through for a cheeseburger (cut in half with extra pickles) and a cheesecake. Once I paid and drive off, I realized they gave me a chicken sandwich instead () Despite me running late for work I went back through the drive through I inform the cashier that she'd given me the wrong sandwich. She apologized and shortly afterwards returned with my burger. I took one bite and was highly disappointed! ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR! I had to bring my burger home and add salt/ pepper and extra pickles as requested. The sauce for the cheesecake was also old looking and had a film. Omg. This place is gorgeous! The interior is vast with amazing decir which kinda seem cluttered but in a good way lol. My review is based solely on pickup, but I honestly want to dine in and live the full experience. We placed an order of three entrees prior to our arrival and we waited a bit once we got to the restaurant but it wasn't a long wait, I'd say we waited 10 mins extra. Not a biggie since we ended up buying some dessert from the cold case - yum! It would've been cook if it was made there but it was good!! My food was so good, so delicious! I definitely recommend getting the ribs, it was very juicy and the meat just came off nicely. The sweet potato was my favorite! It was just steamed perfectly and had the right amount of cinnamon and sweetness to it. My meal - no complaint !!! When we were there, staff was very nice and energtic. I forgot the name of the kid that was assisting us with the sweets and order but he was very kind and helpful. Picked up a togo order last night. Brisket was delicious as was bbq sauce. Turkey was flavorful but a bit dry. Sausage was good. Mashed potatoes, baked beans, jalapeno bread were good. Mac & cheese had a chalky texture. Brownie and bread pudding were OK. Got 2 tacos in the AM on the way to work. Everything was good except the tortillas. Go to Big Horn on HWY6... order a cheeseburger and fries... order a fried chicken sandwich and fries ... two strawberry lemonades/no ice Get home and discover the fries are not just cold but also hard and stale... open the burger and find both buns sopping wet with enough mayonnaise to make a potato salad...mushy tomato, wilted lettuce, and a beef patty thats crumbly dry and rather burnt on one side... I won't even talk about the chicken sandwich... my lunch date said "it's chicken" This was a great reminder why I stopped going there... I won't make that mistake again. read more
