me and my friends stopped by here for a quick bite and ended up eating the best sandwich i've ever tasted. i got myself a ham & cheese croissant to be simple but my friend got a sandwich with lettuce, pickles, the works basically. it smelled so delicious with the bacon & avocado. to be honest i didn't expect much because the customers were kind of creeping me out. there were 3 of us girls and one guy so it just was kind of off-putting. but they were customers so we decided not to eat inside. best customer service though! 5 stars for the buisness itself, can't blame creepy men for recognizing good food i suppose. read more

My dad took me whenever we were in the area - which was often since the P.O. Box was nearby. This was the genesis of my apple fritter love simply because they were the biggest "donuts" in the cases although they were priced the same as the much smaller and actual donuts; my dad saw and took advantage of this bargain! Flash-forward to this date, and it has been more than a decade since I last visited for whatever myriad of reasons. Would this return visit bring back those fond childhood memories!?: THE "APPLE FRITTER IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD TOUR" CONTINUED... Apple Fritter ($1.55) - Not that I was an apple fritter snob - eff it...yes I was! - but there was a certain way I liked mine. First, the price was on par with other comparable ones I've eaten. Second, it had girth and nearly the size of my face (an ode to the great Goldstar Donuts in Van Nuys) or at the very least a saucer. Third, there were a ton of apple bits in each bite. Fourth, the overall darker brown color with several lovely slightly burnt ends, and highly-thick glaze was cracking everywhere! A no-frills kind of placed which was fine with me. Some "riff-raff" hung around which I wasn't keen about. I live very close to this place and yet I've never stopped in until today. I was looking for a buttery breakfast treat, but not mentally prepared to battle the Sunday rush at Porto's so I swung into Jim's. Upon entry I noticed it had a neighborhood hangout vibe, and it also sells lottery tickets... Okay so it's a little bizarre. But when a croissant runs you $1.65 and is the size of your head you can't really complain. It was buttery, and delicious, and definitely satisfied my croissant craving. The seniors are always happy with donuts. They sell lotto tickets. I buy scratchers and I have won a few 1,000. They have a high volume of players their and that brings up the luck factor. The employees are alway courteous and helpful and super busy with the gambling and selling donuts and fresh coffee. Night time Doughnuts are stale and awful. This is super close to my house so I've been many times and the doughnuts and employees attitude suck!! (like you're bothering them and he's doing you a favor).the dude that works there doesn't wear gloves when prepping food. Family owned business which is great but.... I love this place so much. Probably my favorite restaurant because of the sweet ladies that work there it feels like I'm at my aunties house. They make delicious breakfast sandwiches and they just got a new cool espresso machine that has hot chocolate :). I come here at least 2 times a week I love it. Big Jim, I don't know how you do it, but your donuts are quite delectable. There are so many people every time I pass by, and today, I experienced why that is. After having a very bad run-in with a horrible donut shop near my house, I have decided to drive down to Glendale for your donuts, and boy, was the trip worth it. Parking was a bit difficult and I had to park in a 7-11 spot, so you should look into that. Just the right amount of moisture and the texture of the donut was perfect.
