Been wanting to try this restaurant for quite awhile, however, not five minutes in the door I realized that I had made a mistake. No greeting whatsoever, not even a "hi," or for that matter a smile, nonetheless I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and order. I ordered the lasagna which I must admit wasn't bad, a bit over cooked but still decent. While several of the staff walked by, not once did anyone ask how my meal was or if they could get me anything. Honestly, I felt like I was being a burden to this emotionless staff. While admittedly this restaurant would get high marks for cleanliness, the complete lack of manners and poor attitude by the staff gives enough reason to suggest you go elsewhere for your Italian food. read more

Value here is horrible. Portions here are larger than your other options in Key West, however you are paying more than what the portions are worth! Very greasy, and very pricey pizza, just not worth it. The lackluster customer service that you receive from the ladies working the counter doesn't make it a desirable place for me to recommend, or get my business. read more

I got the fettuccine with chicken to go. Came with a side salad and three garlic knots for a total of 17 bucks. Fettuccine was good, and there was a lot of it. Garlic knots were soft n buttery...great! Salad was pathetic. Just skip it. I ate two or three bites and went for the huge Fettuccine instead. I posted pics. Ordered the Margarita pizza, a Greek salad and tiramisu. Picked up my food and took it back to my room...should have just gone to Pizza Hut. The pizza was nothing special, they gave me a Caesar salad instead of the Greek. The tiramisu tasted like it could have come from the local Publix. Gave them 1 star by default since I was dumb to not check my order before leaving. They did offer to to bring me the correct salad but I figured my meal was already ruined and who knows what they would have done to it had I demanded the salad I ordered. I've always loved big johns but lately the food is just not the same! Everytime I order mozzarella sticks they are different! Yesterday 8/20 I ordered food. An hour later when my food arrived (understandable it was a Friday night) things were missing. I called back for the missing items and still needed them so they sent it out. Almost an hour goes by and still no food (mind you it was a cold chicken salad). I call back & they didn't even offer a discount or a credit or anything, all they said was "sorry it's busy he should be there soon!" Island Pizza I'm used to Chicago pizza so I think that may have tainted my taste buds. It is NOT BAD pizza at all. I just prefer a zestier tomato sauce. Mixed bag...One the positive the garlic rolls are very tasty. On the negative sometimes I've personally received items not fresh/with mold forming. The first time this happened was in a cup of tomato dip that came with the cheese sticks. The second time was tonight one of our side salads had a very soggy tomato with fuzz growing and white slime....pretty gross. The pizza when fresh is good, I guess just avoid the sides. My first time ordering but not my last. Staff was excellent, very friendly. Meatball Parm was outstanding. And I'm very picky because my family owns a few restaurants. Child's portion was huge, and the pizza a 10. Well I wish they used shredded mozzarella instead of sliced. Otherwise a great meal. Will definitely order again. Give it a try. The food is good, however customer service is lacking. The last few times we have ordered from Big Johns one price is quoted over the phone and upon delivery we are told it's a higher price without any notice. A phone call of the new price would be nice. What made this place awful was the service. The girl behind the counter was rude and impatient and seemed to take pride in being so. I suppose it was clear that we weren't locals and they seem to take pride in being "where the locals go" but we really found it off putting and it ruined our night. On top of that the food was just ok. The pasta was overlooked, the bolognese sauce sweet and the pizza sat like a brick in the stomach. I know there is not a lot of choice around here but places like this frustrate us, like they are taking advantage of people having very little choice. While stuck in our hotel room taking our boaters license test, we came across an ad for this pizza place, 'where the locals go'. Offered a large range of food from appetizers and pasta to pizzas and dessert. Free delivery to our hotel room and arrived within 20 minutes ! Staying for one night and got delivery. Gourmet white pizza and chicken parm pizza. Dough is good on both, but I hope you loooove garlic!! Chicken parm was def better..the white pizza hits you in the face with garlic to the point it's not enjoyable. It's not a regular white sauce. And there is only one tomato per slice. Whoa!!! I never expected gourmet pizza in Key West. Super tasty pizza by the slice. I had a slice of prosciutto/fig and a slice of buffalo chicken ranch. The prosciutto/fig pizza was a perfect balance of salty and sweet with a nice proportion of mozzarella cheese. I could have eaten two more! The buffalo chicken pizza was drizzled with ranch dressing to cool down the slight spicy kick. The crust reminded me of home (NYC). Next on my list to truism the pesto/bacon slice .... I have tried this place time and time again and it's always awful. I only keep going back because my kids ask to go. It is expensive and horrible quality. I believe we've been near 8 times and have NEVER gotten what we ordered. They usually put it in wrong or forget it all together. The expensive caprese salad is served with a cheap head of lettuce. I usually pay for the larger size, but they try to get by with bringing out a small one. I once ordered Sauvignon Blanc, and ended up with Cabernet Sauvignon. read more

We were looking for a pizza place away from downtown. This place fit the bill, being situated in a strip mall there was plenty of hassle free and free parking. We ordered a gourmet slice and a pie both came out in a very reasonable amount of time. Hubby wanted pizza tonight so he decided on Big Johns. As a local, I REALLY hate that it's so hit and miss with Big Johns. When it's good, it's reeaaallly good. But when it's bad.. It's bad! Ordering process was a breeze. The girl taking the order kept things flowing. He ordered a large half cheese half buffalo chicken ranch pizza, a Caesar salad, and fried shrimp. Girl said it would be about 40 minutes, it was more like an hour. Delivery guy was friendly. Pizza was paper thin and super greasy. On their best days the pizza is hot, crispy, and topped perfectly. Not tonight. The Caeser salad tasted like soap. I don't if it was the dressing or what but neither of us could eat it. This is the first time that's happened to us. Fried shrimp were OK.
