This was my first time here and it was on the day where proceeds went to the staff for a Christmas bonus. It was of course incredibly busy but it was worth the wait. This place is just an awesome local spot! If your wanting breakfast it's all good here If your wanting a good cheap quick lunch they got plenty of choices! From the chili dogs and hamburgers to their daily specials the food here is always top notch The service is very good they take your order at a window and the even have a drive thru. During covid things are a little different no inside dining but they do have some picnic tables to eat at I highly recommend this place for a quick cheap lunch! read more

Outstanding little drive-in. This place is pretty popular with the locals and there aren't many tables so either plan on getting take out or get there early (11, 11:30 am). You may even have to share your table if you are by yourself (like I was) sitting at a booth. I got a hot dog with chili, cheeseburger and tater tots. Their tater tots were of the "crispy crown/Chick Fil-A" variety, not the barrel shaped ones. The tater tots were good, actually better than they looked, but were undercooked to my liking (I like them crispy). I'll just specify that next time I order there. So while I was disappointed somewhat by the tater tots, the hot dog and more importantly, the cheeseburger were very good. They hand-form the patties for the burgers - they aren't the frozen, pre-formed discs you get at a lot of drive-ins and fast food places these days. They offer breakfast as well and I hope to be passing through sometime in the morning so I can try their biscuits. They aren't a quick trip off the interstate but they aren't that far either. Definitely worth driving ten minutes or so extra to avoid the typical garbage fast food options at the exit. They also don't take credit or debit cards. read more

Decided to try Yellow Jacket as we were driving through Calhoun based on other good reviews. It's small and clean and the staff just couldn't have been friendlier. Great burgers - made by hand not some frozen meat puck - and the fish sandwich got good reviews from my dad. So found this place near by our road trip destination per Yelp. This was amazing! Great burger awesome fries and hand spun milkshakes the vanilla milkshake was so thick and tasty I was heavenly. If you go definitely will need to get a burger, and a milkshake! Everyone was super nice we told the waitress we found them on Yelp and I guess he is the owner or manager came out to make sure our food was good and encouraged deserts! We LOVE LOVE LOVE the Yellow Jacket...as well as the owners and their staff. It is truly a staple to Calhoun and you will never be disapppointed there. It definitely has a reputation that follows it all over. Eating at the Yellow Jacket has become a staple for my parents to eat at EVERY time theyre in town from NY. We always have to make sure to fit in eating there at least once while theyre here. They both have as much love for everyone there, and for the delicious food, as everyone else does. My dad even bought a Yellow Jacket hat to show his support and wears it proudly so everyone can see his support whereve hes at. Keep up the great work Missy and Ben and everyone else there! They've got a legit chili dog that just will not quit. Plus they have tater tots. It's a combo made in heaven. This drive in has been here 50 + years. They've also got a double bacon cheese burger that had ruined more suppers than anything I ever ate. Eat one here and you won't want any supper. The chili dog is a simple creation. Bun is fresh off the grocery store shelf. Weenie is a good grade but most likely whatever was on sale at the same store. The chili is a a pack of chili o with about twice the hamburger the recipe calls for and onions. I take mine with chopped Bermuda's on top. Here they are freshly chopped, cold and ride the chili well. The chili is better Thursday than it is Monday. Don't try Friday. It might surprise you. It's the kind of chili dog you can eat in four bites riding a bicycle. There's a lot more on the menu here that I can't speak so as we never get past the burgers and chili dogs. But don't forget the tater tots. read more
