The Hartford Artisans Weaving Center held its annual Open House yesterday and we were there…read more We were overwhelmed at the display of colorful creative craftsmanship we saw everywhere. Blankets, toys, towels, cloths, scarves, wraps and sweaters were everywhere, and it seemed that each one was more gorgeous than the one before it. We also toured the weaving room where these beauties are crafted and their weaving classes are held. The whole vibe of the Hartford Artisans Weaving Center is beautiful- a community based venture dedicated to "preserving, promoting, and teaching the craft of hand-weaving". They hold "classes for all ages, curate exhibits and sales, and run a unique artisan program (that) teaches weaving to the blind and visually-impaired, and anyone 55 and older". How's that for community service? Want to get some gorgeous and cool Holiday gifts? Go support the good people at the HAWC and you surely will. Just a heads up on their hours -they are limited, just 10:00 am - 4:00 pm from Monday to Thursday and 10:00 am - 3:00 pm on Friday. Looks like they aren't open on the weekends except for the Open Hose yesterday and other special events.
