Ribs - they were awesome and don't even need anything on them Pulled pork - the perfect taste and not to wet Brisket - great bark and smoke ring! Smashed potatoes - I want the recipe for these! They were great! The perfect blend of smashed and not smashed potatoes piping hot and super tasty! Collard Greens - OMG!!!!! Why have I never tried collard greens before!?!?!? They were amazing and tender and had a great taste to them. My new favorite side! Black Eye Peas - Another side that I have never tried before and they awesome with nice blend of smashed and not smashed peas Mac and Cheese - moist and more on the cheesy side than creamy side with a good texture to them. Not soggy at all! Corn Bread - It's just awesome! moist and just plain old great taste. I really do love this place. I'm always greeted with a smile from this family run business and they are always so pleasant to chat with. I love the vibe of the place as it just seems like a cool place to hang out and relax and and eat the great food that they have. I can't wait to taste the nachos! We went to Mike's on a whim; we have been looking for good barbecue for YEARS here and were so excited when this place opened!! The chopped brisket was delicious and the potato salad was perfect, not super goopy or mayonnaise-y! My husband got greens and black-eyed peas and loved both. Service was great, too. We were there early (like 11:30 am) so the black-eyed peas took a little bit, but seriously wasn't a big deal. We will definitely be back to try more! read more

Love the atmosphere very western saloon vibe. Food is delicious just like Becky's but the staff isn't given any direction they didn't have ribs at noon it was going to be another hour or so but no one knew that to tell me until the sandwich I ordered with my To go was ready. They then wanted to just make an even trade with a second sandwich in place of ribs and there was almost a $5 difference that they would owe me. I pointed it out and the cashier gave me $4 so I then pointed out her error. She reluctantly gave me the difference. I think I'll stick to Becky's for a while until they figure out what they are doing. But looking forward to seeing them iron out their wrinkles and try again. read more

I ordered some food for delivery through Grubhub. I got the 2 meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, a side of Mac, side of beans, and a side of coleslaw. Surprisingly the coleslaw was the only thing I would describe as good. Thr brisket had a good smoke flavor but was overcooked, the pulled pork was completely flavorless. The Mac was not very cheesy and the beans were just ok, a little sweeter than I would like. I think the biggest disappointment was that absolutely no bbq sauce was sent so I couldn't even add flavor the the pulled pork. I did not get any cornbread even though it is supposed to come with the plate combos. They also included no utensils even though I asked for them. Maybe better to visit in person but I won't be giving them a second chance. read more

Update: I called the restaurant back for a resolution for the missing food, and was addressed with "oh you're that guy who gave us a hard time" for asking why I was being charged more in my very first experience with them... then proceeded to argue with me about the situation instead of allowing me to inform her I never got the food. Then she hung up on me. The next person I spoke with misgendered me and when I corrected her she said "oh well I can't tell so idk what you want me to do". I hope I can report this to the owner but now I'm worried he'll be as bad. Never ever coming here again and I'll make sure my entire community avoids this business. The food is the reason the rating is higher. The food is very delicious but everything else has been a nightmare. I placed an order for the piglet meal (pulled chicken) and the 2 meat/2 sides combo. I came here after it was recommended to me from someone and as a black southerner, I was excited for the possibility for great food, but the experience was so bad I may never come back except for my refund. I arrived for pick up to a total $6 more than it should've been because of an upcharge for the fries- no where in the menu does it indicate a $6 upcharge. $1 for the difference of the cheaper sides sure but $6?? No. And nowhere does it say that fries would require an upcharge nor was it told to me when I placed the order. The staff who informed me of this (a group of female presenting individuals) said "you should've checked the website". I have never been here before; why would I need to evaluate the website to be informed of that?? I told this person that Apple Maps defaults to yelp and she doubled down... when I got home with my food, not only are these overpriced French fries NOT IN MY BAG, but the cookie that the menu states comes with my piglet meal is ALSO not in my bag!!! So I've been insulted x 3 at this point and frankly I don't even want to eat this, I'm so pissed rn. I will be calling for my refund in the morning and I will not be coming back. They operate out of the Black Duck's old dining room. If you're at the Black Duck's bar you can walk over and order food which is what did. The Big Mikes employee brings the food over with no condiments or napkins. We had to walk back over to the other side to grab what we wanted. Why bring the food over when I had to go back over to the other side to get what I wanted made no sense to me. The onion rings were extremely greasy. The Mac and cheese were dry and tasteless. BBQ is off the hook & we loved the Big Mike's sauce. Easy to order combo plates priced right. Eat-in, take-out or grab a drink next door at the Black Duck bar while you wait. I highly recommend take-out option. The ambience for dinner inside was to be desired. But service was fast & friendly & we hit a rush after a show next door at Comedy Connection, but the line went fast & cleared quick. All while the girls kept smiling. Some of my suggestions. Relocate the sauce bar so people can find it. Ensure it is properly stocked at all times, Switch out the sauce vats for smaller containers & ensure properly marked to dispense & go. Everything was too big & bulky. The sauce/condiment area was a mess & I had to hunt down a plastic knife. Set up a trash receptacle for diners to self-serve & place trays on top if they eat in or provide a designated area for trays. Although the two very young ladies were very well behaved at the table next to us, they should have a babysitter & not be lying across the tabletops as I am sure they were bored out of their mind. A pet peeve of mine, especially if we are dining out without children. Again, well behaved, but killed the experience of eat-in for us. Big Mike's is brand new & I'm sure over time they will work out the kinks out so I certainly won't give up on them. The food is too good. Kudos to the chef!
