Disclaimer: I don't eat chicken so no comment on that but others in our party did like the chicken very much. As a non-chicken eater, I ordered salad, hush puppies and the catfish sliders. I was also excited that they had a number of local beers on draft. The salad was pretty average and underwhelming. The hush puppies were also just okay. The catfish sliders were the tastiest of the three but I did find a small piece of bone in one. We chose this restaurant because it was close to an event we were attending later in the evening. Since the chicken was well received, I might come back with other chicken enthusiasts, but unlikely I'd check back here myself. Service was pretty speedy but although we requested separate checks at the start of the meal we still got a combined check and had to ask again for the split. Ambience is nice with a bit of a bistro flair and cute chicken themes. The process of making a reservation here is awkward. You have to request the reservation and then they email you later to confirm it. Would be much more convenient if they did Open Table or Resy. Limited parking too. Their lot is small and we had to park on a side road, which was not a big deal as the road seems to be in an industrial area and was not busy.
Back again! My client and I chose a variety of plates to share. Chicken tenders,fried Okra, corn bread, curly fries. Sweet potato tots. As always so good. The waitstaff was friendly and quick, the seating comfortable and busy. There was a large party of people who were very loud, in a good way, which made conversations a little hard.
The chicken was good but definitely not as great as others say. The corn was very good. It seemed like it was out in a blender since the pieces were very small.
I went to honeybird for the second time! It is so good! I am a pescetarian but knew that their menu had options for me. The first time I went I did a plate of fried tofu with all the sides and Texas toast. The cornbread and tots were great. My friend and I split the fried green tomatoes. This time I asked about their secret menu (sssshhh) and had their fish and chips! It was so good. It came on Texas toast and came with a side of slaw. The fries were seasoned curly fries. My friend did chicken tenders and they let her pick three different flavorings for her plate! The cocktail menu is great too, super creative!
I love that it's set in an old garage and I love vibe of the restaurant, very laid back and the music isn't overly loud. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I loved the fritters but only with the butter otherwise it was a bland. The creamed corn wasn't what I expected but it was very good. I loved the plating, but I found the chicken a bit dry and the corn bread no flavor at all. I would go back but would most likely try something else, the chicken sandwiches looked juicy.
My friend picked this location to have lunch. I had never been but it was delicious. The decor matches the theme. The waitress was helpful with any questions. We got the pimento cheese appetizer and chicken sandwiches. A few minutes after we arrived we were lucky to have James Murray from Impractical Jokers eating at the establishment as well. He was kind to take pictures with guests at end of his meal. He was here to do a comedy show right down the street. After our lunch, I suggested seeing Mrs. Skipper one of the 5 Thomas Dambo trolls we have in RI. It was a great restaurant and visit. There is plenty of parking here too.
The Honeybird Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich is the perfect fried chicken sandwich in my opinion. The Nashville hot sauce is the perfect mix of spicy, just enough you feel it but not so spicy it ruins the rest of your day. The standard sandwich also only comes with pickles, which is my preferred way to have it. You can upgrade to deluxe & get cheese & tomato added. The curly fries were also pretty good but had a little too much garlic Parmesan for my taste. The maple butter corn bread was perfect, no notes. The service sitting at the bar was great. Quick & the bar tender was highly helpful & friendly. The building is an old gas station adding a cool factor.

I went today for my second time and arrived at 12:30 with no trouble finding a table. Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing and answered every question we had about the menu. It's predominantly fried chicken but there are some small bites you can order as well. The main menu has a variety of chicken, flavor, and sauce options to choose from. Today I opted for the plain blue plate with the Honeybird sauce. My sides were the dill pickle potato salad and grits. In the past I've had the pimento Mac and cheese and creamed corn as well. The chicken was perfectly crunchy and large- these are some big birds they're cooking. The grits had a perfect flavor and were nice and cheesy. The potato salad was also a stand out with the creamy potatoes and sharpness from the pickles. Everyone who came with me today enjoyed their meals and their food has been consistently great. My arteries may not be happy with me but I highly recommend this cheat day meal!
We went in as a party of four on a Saturday night with reservations at 6:00. The service was excellent, the space is small, updated and very clean. My favorites were the Nashville Hot Chicken Bao Buns, the North Carolina Pulled Pork Pierogies, and the spicy chicken tenders that were in the Bucket of 10 pieces. My favorite sides were the Collard greens, dill pickle potato salad, buttermilk ranch slaw, and the pimento Mac + Cheese. The baked beans were good, but I could taste BBQ sauce/ketchup based in the beans that were messing with my pallette. I would skip the bucket next time and just get the tenders. The skin wasn't crispy enough for me under all of that batter, but the tenders were unbelievable.
RI Food Fight-Lord of the Wings Review 2025: First time at Honeybirds. Made a reservation online. Modern, hip hop blaring (yes!) We were seated next to a garage door. Cool for the nice weather, not for January. It was cold! Nice waitress (thanks Gianna.) 1. Wings: Honey Chalula I like the sauce a lot! But the wings were a little soggy. 2.Cornbread: Ok. Like the extra flavor brought in my honey or syrup? 3.Cheesey grits: Bland 4.Chicken sandwich: Super fresh! Cooked to crispy perfection. Great vibe.
Wow! Doing one thing and doing it right! Great fried chicken!! They offer several styles and dips. I had the two piece dark meat meal with two sides and cornbread. It was perfect! I selected greens, and yummy real mashed potatoes with brown gravy, both delicious!! Also the two tenders meal was huge, moist and crispy! Not your cookie-cutter chicken tenders! But bring your own honey mustard sauce. Their sauces leave something to be desired, especially the mustard, it's whole grain and vinegary, not sweet or satisfying. Their blue cheese dip was whipped and airy, the spicy sauce was thin and strange. I love dipping sauces, but these all missed the mark for me. Pleasant wait staff and a clean atmosphere, and good service. Doing the honey-bird up right.

Wow wow woww this place is the real deal. The restaurant itself is very small but we were able to get a seat at the bar. For 4 of us, we got 4 sides to share as pictured. It was plenty as the portions are very good. Everything was well seasoned. I'd highly recommend the potato salad if you like dill & the tater tots which were perfectly crispy. You can order your sandwich with a sauce but honestly it didn't even need it. The chicken had just the right amount of breading & was super flavorful! My friends enjoyed their wings as well. read more
So good, so darn good. The collard greens are tender and not too salty or vinegar-y. Solid. Chicken has a great crispy crunch while staying tender and juicy. I didn't need the dipping sauces. Mac and cheese is thickkkkk. I love a meal with leftovers - made for the best lunch and dinner this past Saturday. Our server was lovely. Drive the bridge. It's worth it. We love coming to Honeybird, food usually hits. Love that there is ample parking in the lot right next to it, and usually we have been able to get seated. They do take reservations though so if you're worried about not getting a spot, would definitely make a reservation in advance. Food, wise, I typically get the tenders, which are huge by the way! an average person can probably eat 2 to 3 of their tenders because of how large they are! I really love the garlic Parmesan and honey cholula flavors. Pro tip, you can get the blue plate and swap it out for three tenders if you want to get a great deal on tenders and sides. not all the time, but occasionally when I've been, the chicken has been on the drier side. Side wise, the mashed potatoes, onion rings, mac & cheese are good. Didn't really love the collard greens as much. Drinks wise, I love that they have mocktail options because I don't drink much alcohol. Some of the mocktails are on the sweeter side, though, so just beware. Overall, honey bird has something for everybody, and when if I come back when craving this! read more

Cocktails, food, service - all top notch. I wanted to try one of everything on the menu. What I did have was excellent. Service was very good, and the drink menu was one of the most impressive I've seen in a while. I love the industrial vibe (the restaurant is a repurposed auto shop it appears) with large windows. Hip hop music on the speakers and decorating the bathroom. Very cool all around. read more
Rating: 4.5 Decided to try the place for lunch. It's a restaurant/bar focused on fried chickens. Place is relatively small and has limited parking/seatings. Good place to hangout with friends. or The place was busy but was able to be seated relatively quickly. We ordered Nashville hot bao buns to start and shared Fried chicken bucket with side of mac and cheese, collard greens, fries and sweet potato tots. The food was excellent. Well seasoned and great flavors. I particularly liked the bao buns and drumstick/wings. We had ordered spicy and honey with truffle mayo. I liked the spicy flavor and truffle mayo combo. Sides were okay. I liked the curly fries but nothing out of the ordinary or i have had better ones elsewhere. The portion was large and we could barely finish half with 2 of us. Probably was mean't for 4 people. Service was good and relatively attentive considering how busy they were. Overall, the place was good. Solid fried chicken place that can compete with other good options in RI. They are mainly fried food so it's heavy so I would not go often but a good place to go time to time. read more

Dinner was great! None of us really like chicken on the bone that much so we each got orders of tenders and a bunch of sides to split. We also got the pickle cheddar spring rolls which were so good! I got 4 tenders (and then ate about half and ate the rest the next day for lunch). I tried plain (OG), spicy, and honey cholula. I liked them all tbh, I feel like the OG was perfect for satisfying that classic fried chicken craving but the sauced ones were also really good. We got the cornbread (outrageous), sweet potato tater tots (perfection), mashed potatoes and baked beans (also good but the first two were my faves). We all loved it and said we would definitely go back. To drink I tried the white peach sangria and regretfully forgot to eat my moonshine-soaked peach garnish at the end. Now that's all I can think about so I will DEF have to go back and get that drink and eat the peach. The parking situation isn't great. There are only about 5 actual parking spots, but people just make more unofficial spots in the small lot and park on the side street next to the restaurant. I do wish they would draw out a few more spots in the lot since there is enough room for them. But given their popularity there will still end up being lots of people who have to park on the street. read more
The other night I braved the #washingtonbridge and headed over to Honeybird for their entry in the RI Food Fights Lord of the Wings challenge. Now I had been here once before but I did not have their wings on that visit. The Honey Cholula sauce came recommended by the bartender (who provided excellent service!) so I ordered that. Honeybird does gourmet fried chicken and it is good. Their wings are battered making for a different experience. The wings were lightly sauced and that makes sense as the wings and the batter are flavorful on their own. The flavor is a nice addition without covering up their signature chicken. I was hoping for a bit more spice but they were good - I am learning I do like a honey-based sauce. Do yourself a favor and check out Honeybird (just be mindful of the horrible bridge traffic if you are coming from Providence). read more

Do yourself a favor and order some garlic Parmesan chicken with the black truffle mayo!! You will not be sorry. Pair it with sweet potato tots or their cornbread - so good! Their pork pierogis are also very good. Service is usually quick and they tend to get busy! They have a parking lot, it's small but doable. Also the atmosphere is cool, this used to be a gas station but now they serve delicious chicken from a local chef of Beat Bobby Flay fame. read more
Easily one THEE best wings in RI if not the best. Only 4 sauces but that's okay because they all ROCK. The sides were bomb, staff super courteous and friendly. Loved the decor and interior, was converted from an old garage love the doors and the ambiance. Definitely will be back people must come here when in the area. read more

I wish I could give 3.5. Ambience: 2 Bar service: 3 (4 for the bartender was very friendly, 2 for the pickle drink). Wings: 5 SO good. Honey hot was great. Sides: individual ones of slaw and onion rings were not good. Served in paper boats, slaw soaks through. Just not appetizing. Sides: with the blue plate. Smaller portions served in proper containers. The beans with pulled pork were next level. Blue plate: drumstick I ate in house and was dry but deff double fried because there was some raw batter in between layers. Thigh reheated well the next day no complaints. Overall I'll go back for wings and the beans. Not a top 5 choice. I was disappointed after following this place on social media for a while and seeing their execution. read more
Note that few RI restaurants specialize in chicken (exclude Popeye's and KFC) but this one is a winner. I am going to whine a bit about a few specifics but my review is RECOMMENDED. We unwisely did not make reservations on a Friday night but somehow a table for 2 opened within 15 minutes. A number of folks (tables of 4) were told "1 hour+" and left. So tip one - reserve. The easy positives - a very good crew, lots of parking next door, and a cozy spot (feels good but a bit tight with seating for about 50 in what appears to be a small space). The menu headings - "snacks", "appetizers", and "chicken". The first two have a lot of options. We opted for the hush puppies from "snacks" - good size portion (enough to split) and tasty. My quibble was the onion butter that overwhelmed the dish; salted butter would have worked better. Also as the "chicken" portions are large, think it would be hard to manage an "appetizer" as they appear to be "entrees". We started out with cocktails - that menu is strong. Having lived in TX for many years where the whole Topo Chico and then ranch water boom started about 10 years ago, I ordered their ranch water. A real winner. "Chicken" - my dining companion ordered 4 chicken nuggets with OG "coating" and a side. VERY tasty and huge - took 2 home. I ordered the "blue plate" - a drumstick and breast - both large, tasty, and mild (although I ordered spicy). Sides were mashed potatoes (the real loser of the night - lumpy, almost "cafeteria" quality) and the potato salad (needed a bit more pepper or hot sauce). My final quibbles - understand why one would want a sauce with nuggets or wings. But why with the blue plate? Is one going to dip a battered drumstick in blue cheese? Also the chicken came on a drenched piece of toast ("TX toast"?). They could eliminate that... OVERALL a good experience and we'll be back. Damages with tip was $90. Checked out Honeybird on a Friday night once where we have reservations as this place gets pretty packed. It's busy and somewhat loud but it's jam packed with great food. Their chef has won a James Beard award for chicken in the northeast so he has to know what he's doing right? Sure did! We split an order of the Catfish Sliders for an app. Perfectly fried and breaded and the cherry pepper tartar sauce made it unique from others, the actual sandwich would be a welcomed addition to the regular menu. I got the fried chicken sandwich which appeared to be a breast instead of a thigh, with pickles and of course on a Martins potato roll, perfect blend of delicious, wish they could turn up the heat a little on the sandwich. I had gotten the Nashville sauce as they said it was more packed more punch than the spicy. My wife for the 4 tender meal, nice of them to allow a different flavor for each tender. The hot honey and the garlic Parmesan stood out for me, I may have liked them better than my sandwich. We got a side of mac and cheese and seasoned fries as well, they were curly fries, loved them. Mac and cheese was creamy and stood out on its own as well. Will absolutely be back! read more
Impressed by the juicy insides and crunch outer of the savory chicken. The interior is relatively small, so if you come as a group, be patient. It feels a bit tight of you find yourself in the middle seats. The Nashville boa were delicious! Best item on the menu! So hot, fresh, crispy and the buns very soft~ the pickles really add to the flavor~ also ordered the bucket that can with a choice of 4 different sides. Sweet potato tater tots were sweet with light salt. The seasoned fries were average. The collar greens were so good and a need for a heavy fried meal to feel a bit better about the meal. For the bucket, we didn't think it was going to have large pieces of chicken! Each piece was good and honestly a meal for up to 4 people~ we had so much take home in take out containers afterwards. We ordered the bucket with a mix of spicy and honey Cholula ~ each very unique and wonderful to try~ I ordered a drink way too late into my meal~ the waitress placed my order and let us know that it can be in a take-out version container if I couldn't finish it~ absolutely very thoughtful of her because it was my own mistake with ordering too late into my meal. We made reservations for 2 on a Friday night which I was thankful for. The inside space is small but I didn't feel cramped like other places when they put too many tables into a small space. I love the garage doors and the high ceilings. We were so hungry, we got catfish sliders for an app, and for dinner I got 4 tenders which I was able to pick in 4 different flavors! How cool. My husband got the chicken sandwich. The hottest option was not very hot. Our sides were Mac and cheese and curly fries. Our meal was great! I have to say the catfish sliders were a stand out and I hope they add that as a regular dinner sandwich option in a larger size. All of our food was super crispy and came out hot, clearly not sitting around at all! Their ranch was good too. We didn't get a cocktail this time but they had a lot of options, mocktails too. We live nearby and drive by this once abandon gas station frequently and watched it be transformed into this very cool space over time. After seeing the parking lot full and the restaurant packed with people night after night we decided to check it out. We couldn't decide where to begin, since everything sounded great, so we ordered the Party Fowl - which is a platter of chicken, accompanied by pickles, Texas toast, all dipping sauces, and every side on the menu. This was way too much food for our party of four, so we got to bring home leftovers too and we weren't mad about that. This place is small (28 seats in the restaurant and another 10 seats at the bar) so be sure to reserve a table online to snag a table. On nice days, they roll up the garage doors and put out a few high top tables outside as well. The restaurant can get super loud, so go early in the evening or place a to go order if you want to enjoy your meal at home. read more

Is there anything vegetarian on the menu? It looks like there are some things that could be (like the mac and cheese or hush puppies), but I want to know if those are made with vegetarian ingredients or have bacon grease in them or something.
