I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place because I've been going here for over 10 years. On the outside, Daveport's is deceiving. You would never know it's a family owned restaurant with so many from scratch dishes. Everything from their homemade chicken orzo soup to their amazing Ceasar salad, warm rolls, perfectly plated lobster tacos, baked cod, are consistently great. I can't forget to mention the dessert, a great selection from the Sysco Bakery. I've been for lunch and dinner and the service is fantastic. Every waitress is friendly, attentive and doesn't rush you out. Don't be fooled by the ratings. I'm very picky and if you want great service and consistent food quality, this is the place! read more

Davenport's is one of my family's go-to's. The service is usually really good, although it was difficult to get a hold of our waitress this last visit, but it was Mother's Day after all. The ambiance is hometown restaurant and that's exactly what it is! It can be for a nice occasion or something more casual. I've been for both! They have great seafood chowder- highly recommend. Regular white chowder is available on Wednesdays and Fridays I believe. I also really like their pizza. My family is obsessed with their sweet potato black bean burger, they will go with the intention of ordering something else but will always end up ordering the black bean burger. I also LOVE their bread rolls that they serve. So yum. read more

Ordered the chicken family style. Comes with Chicken piece, fries, choice of pasta, and soup or salad. I ordered the Portuguese kale soup which was amazing. The only complaint I had was the pasta sauce on the spaghetti but I am usually picky with my sauce. Every thing was cooked well and the staff was very attentive. It was busy on Easter Sunday but there are plenty of booths, tables and even bar seats. Would like to come back to try something different in the menu. read more

Classic corn beef Ruben and a large baked seafood platter makes me very happy. The service here makes sure to appease my grandparents every so specific and unrealistic request. They are fast and reliable and make sure good bread is in my mouth. The food is insanely good. My grandmother complains at every single meal we have ever eaten out in my entire life except for here. That clearly means they are just the best. The ambience is really cool. This place has good ambience but it's a bit too dark in some spots. That's ok I'm focused on asking market price so I can devour the food. Cleanest bathrooms on the planet. This is real you can go see for yourself. I order out about once a week at Davenport's, Cumberland. Tonight we ordered the Chicken Pot Pie with Chicken Orzo soup. Both items were so over-salted, it was hardly edible. I find many of your meals are exceedingly oversalted, and I am sensitive to it. Please tell the chefs to ease up on the shaker. read more

I was very impressed with this Davensport's location specifically because of how nice and accommodating they were to one of my elderly family members. The staff were incredibly friendly, prompt and very knowledgeable on the menu offerings. The restaurant is very spacious and clean with a variety of seating options. They also have a decent sized bar and a spacious banquet room for large events. The menu was comparable to other local restaurants. 3/20/26 - Was seated near the bar and heard the people behind us complain to the waitress that a bug had flown into their food. They noticed small flies on the walls, the waitress offered to move them to a table away from the wall. I then noticed small flies dotted all along the walls. We got up and left immediately. Don't come here on a Monday night around 8:15 pm. No one at the front desk to greet you or seat you as they were all in the kitchen, and they were all kids. After 5 minutes someone came out from the kitchen, showed us the tables and gave us menus. It was supposed to be 1/2 price apps. We'll they had the sampler tray on the app page so we assumed it was 1/2 price also. We ordered and waited about 25 minutes. Considering it is all frozen pop in the micro food and, at most, there were 6 customers in the whole place that's seems long. Got all done the bill came and the waitress forgot to put the bill thru as 1/2 off. She went back to correct it the sampler was not 1/2 off but the chicken wings were. We asked why and she said that is considered as an entrée, but no notation on the menu to tell you that. She said there was a sign in front at the desk. The wings were OK, the calamari sucked as did the chicken fingers. The rest was subpar. It's a restaurant .... you should make sure your customers, at least, think you care ... even a little. First time there. What a disappointment. I wanted a New England style lobster roll, which was on the menu. I ordered it and asked for veggies in place of fries. Plate served came with fries and no ordered squash. They then brought me a dish of sweet, cinnamon-laced puree of pumpkin; In other words, the pumpkin filling for a pumpkin pie. Lobster roll was not on a toasted hot dog bun, as is traditional, and had a leaf of lettuce inserted. Again, not a traditional lobster roll feature. I was born and raised in Rhode Island. Service was nothing great, as Waitress tried to take away food before I was finished! waitress assistant brought out incorrect order at our table. When told it was incorrect she told me I had ordered it and left. Waitress came over to see and realized order incorrect Her name was Trinity. She told me that she could order the correct one for me and I said no I would just accept it the way it was five minutes later came back to the table and slid the other half of my sandwich over to me saying here's your other half and left. The food was cold. It was not cooked properly and I was very disappointed my mother who is 92 years old had a roll that lobster was not fresh. It was salty. It was old and it was awful. I do not recommend this restaurant. They sent an assistant manager over to find out what the problem was when I told her she only offered to my uneaten sandwich and took the sandwich away. Went there for dinner and it reminded me of a Chelo's or Gregg's. A family based local chain. You can see a nice dessert display near the cash register and a large menu to choose from. I got the steak tips and I was pleasantly surprise. The meat was tender, well seasoned and just delicious. The house salad was also very fresh, all vegetables were crisp and good tasting. I went there for lunch. Our server was excellent and very attentive. Our drinks were at the table in five minutes. Our food came to the table in roughly 12 minutes. Just had to share poor service on a Tuesday night with a pathetic group of staff stacking around doing nothing. Sitting at the bar, you'd expect great service. We felt like a different staff had taken over; a fun, attentive group is usually there... I came with a friend for a late lunch after a flight. This was just what I wanted to hit the spot for soup. I ended up also getting the chicken pot pie which was excellent. Very filling light flaky crust. The server was excellent and had a lot of jokes on hand. This is a well-staffed restaurant. Someone even greeted me at the door. I was seated immediately in the bar area. The menu is varied, and I initially considered seafood but decided on steak tips. It came with a choice of soup or salad and I chose seafood chowder. The chowder was super creamy and had a nice flavor. The only problem is belching into your mask later in the evening. #tmi The steak tips came out lickety split and were super tender. Fries were fresh- very hot. These are a lot like the stuffies I enjoyed as a collegian on drunk nights at the local Cranston bar. So I've found something Davenport's does right! I have eaten here a few times and found it to be consistently good. We recently stopped for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was busy but there was no wait, since it was a little later than usual. We were ushered to a comfy booth. The atmosphere is somewhat noisy and family friendly. Our server was a delightful young lady named Kristina and she took very good care of us. I had the fish tacos, which were a special for the evening. They were absolutely delicious and served with tator tots, which was a nice change of pace. The mild fish (cod) was fried perfectly with a nice crunchy batter. Three soft taco shells were filled with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes and drizzled with a just-spicy-enough chipotle sauce. The tots were crispy and amazing. After much consideration, my date chose the Shepherd's Pie. He thought the $17.99 price was a bit over the top. However, it came with a salad, two pieces of garlic toast and a side of gravy. The serving was enormous and he couldn't finish it. I have been going to Davenport's for years. It is great for variety family restauarant - but it can be loud, especially when there are uncontrolled children there. That said, Davenport's food is consistently good, the menu has a wide variety and great specials, waitstaff are nice and on top of things, and the restaurant is organized in its operations. They have handled the takeout/pick up side of things great in the pandemic. And of course - they consistanly have great maragarita's. So if you're not going there because of one missing bartender -get over yourself! read more

Haven't been here in a while. My wife and I were driving by here and noticed that they had renovated and had outdoor seating. So we decided to give Davenport's a try. We were greeted by two friendly hostesses who sat us down quickly. Our waitress quickly came over with the menu. They have revamped the menu to be a much healthier menu than before. We ordered the Salmon Special (I was shocked to see they served Salmon) and Davenport's Supreme. The Salmon was delicious and cooked to perfection. This is your typical All-American sit-down restaurant. What distinguishes this place from most others is their hearty and well-cooked meals. As it is usually a family affair for me on these visits, I can say, the staff have an immense patience for the older folk's jokes, stories, and quips that are thrown around here with ease and frequency. Don't know how he does it, but my dad somehow conjures up a joke regarding the 'Specials for the Night' from the time he walks from the board listing them to our booth. . . never fail. This past visit, I shared a Meat Trio Pizza with my brother. . . a melt-in-your-mouth combination of Italian ham, sausage, pepperoni, and blended cheeses. Plenty for two people. . . My parents on the other hand got Turkey Dinners complete with a stack of sliced turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, and cranberry sauce. These are the kind of meals that make you warm inside, before fullness sets in. Plenty of weekly specials including steak, chicken, and seafood options. If this is a place you plan on frequenting, a Frequent Friends Club card is a great deal. You rack up points for every dollar you spent, in return there are $10 gift certificates for every set number of points you earn. Check it out! You won't be disappointed! Had dinner with the family (8 of us). Scallops were cooked perfectly; but, over seasoned with salt and only 7 served for dinner (small portion for the price in my opinion). Wife's chicken parm was spot-on. My brother's pot roast had seen better days (the roast was chewy). The pumpkin ravioli was excellent; and, the kids liked their sandwiches. Servers were attentive and friendly. Salads and soups were average. Regardless, will go back... Update: we had a return visit on the day after Thanksgiving; sea scallops were excellent (8 in the dish this time and not too salty). The side dish (squash) was cold and the service rather lame (waitress seemed bothered - we were a table of 7 this time and she only came by once during the whole meal to check on us. Split into 2 tables and in our own little room, so we could be as loud and rambunctious as we wanted without bothering other patrons. The waitstaff was quite pleasant and was willing to accommodate our requests, even being nice enough to take a group photo. I was in the mood for a sandwich, so I ordered the prime rib. After being asked for a doneness, I asked for it rare and noticing that curly fries were one of the side options, I happily made those my side. Can't go wrong with curly fries! While we were waiting for our entrees to appear, dinner rolls were provided. This could have been a four star review, but there's one little (well, not so little) thing that bugged me. If you're going to ask for a meat doneness, I expect my food to come as ordered. Not a little bit of rare and a lot of medium to well done. Yes, the prime rib looked rare on the plate from my viewing angle, but I took the top off to check and there was quite a bit of brown on the thing. Can't blame the waitstaff for this, as it was definitely rung in correctly per my receipt. The curly fries saved this meal from losing another star. Davenport's has nice staff, but the food is decidedly average. Food might not come out at the doneness you ordered and that makes me a bit upset, but curly fries help to ease the pain.
