They say an honest mechanic is worth their weight in gold. My wife and I went to Big O in north Fort Collins, and could not have been more impressed with their integrity. We had a low tire that wouldn't hold air, and hoped to have it patched. We fully expected we would need to replace the tire, if not all 4. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they were able to patch the tire. But what shocked me is they didn't charge me anything for fixing the tire! My truck blew a tire. Auto Club/AAA guy put the spare on (A+ service). I gave BigO a call to let them know that I was on my way. While I didn't officially have an appointment, they welcomed me. I bought the tires through Tire Rack, but installed at this BigO. The blown tire had a hole in it and a screw. They fixed both AT NO CHARGE!!!!! They were super polite and professional. Bought 4 Big O tires awhile back at this location and have been very happy with my purchase. I have also been impressed with the service anytime I bring my car back, even if it is a free service like tire rotation and balance. Oftentimes I deal with Brad who is friendly and professional. Many auto shops have a reputation for treating women poorly but I always feel very comfortable here. Lastly, my loyalty to Big O goes back to my first positive experience...I was driving cross country when I got a flat on the highway. I limped to the nearest store on a donut and they fixed my tire for free within an hour. They are a great company! read more

To say I was unhappy is an understatement. I originally walked in to Big O to see if I could just get my car checked for any damage because I had run over some cones late at night. They told me they couldn't see me and to make an appointment. I made the appointment with them and sat in the waiting area. Two hours after my scheduled appointment, I realized they hadn't even moved my car or looked at it once. I decided to just take my keys and leave. I made an appointment for a reason and expected them to at least look at my car within 30 minutes of giving them the keys, but they failed to do so. The front desk person was understanding and nice, but I am pretty frustrated and don't know why I even made an appointment. They are were so accommodating and helpful I had a flat tire and needed a repair so when I walked in they repaired my old tire and put it on for a very good price. I called yesterday knowing what kind of tires I wanted, so I ordered them and made an appointment for today. However, when I arrived at my scheduled time, they couldn't find me in the system and the attitude of the 3 guys working at the register was pretty unwelcoming - like I was an inconvenience. They said their computers are old and sometimes orders don't save properly. That's not a great business model, but ok. I would've gotten past it had they been friendlier and more apologetic - after all, I did drive across town and plan my day around the scheduled appointment. Rather than start from scratch and give them my business, I went to Discount Tires down the road. There I was greeted warmly and the guy helping me shook my hand & introduced himself, totally different vibe! So for a few more dollars it's worth it. Absolutely the worst possible service experience I have had. First, they lied about giving me run-flat tires, then when I needed 2 tires replaced, they replaced all 4. When I had them fix that issue, they returned the car with the new tires over-pressure and the other tires under-pressure. I doubt they bothered to balance anything. I came to this shop after going to get my check engine light scanned FOR FREE and was informed that I needed a new O2 Sensor. When I arrived at Big O tires I had the code, but was told that they will check it out themselves, not knowing I was going to get charged 50 dollars for diagnosing the problem. After they said I would need a new O2 sensor (which I already knew) and they said it would be an hour wait and about 134 dollars for the part. I agreed and went to some places near by to pass the time While I was out, I got two separate calls telling me that I needed all my spark plugged replaced, and a new vapor canister vent. I agreed to both. He said it would only be another hour wait. I came back to the shop and waited there for ANOTHER 4 HOURS. I asked repeatedly how much long and they said they were waiting on a part. Finally I was informed that the part had come and turns out that they ordered the wrong part. Not only did I wait there an extra 3 hours, in the end I was charged 210.53 dollars for labor and 153.66 for parts, bringing my total to 414.19. All they offered me was a 30 dollar discount and said that if I want to come in again on another day, they would replace the vapor canister vent for 60 dollars because that was the price of the part. I was later informed from my old mechanic that he already replaced my vapor canister vent and I looked up the part, which is only 34 dollars. Not only did they waste 6.5 hours of my day, I felt taken advantage of since I was never informed on the labor costs, even though I asked repeatedly what the total cost would be. Disappointed. I had four new tires installed last Tuesday but BigO didn't adjust the vehicle's computer for the new size of tires. The next day a message on the dash alerted me that 3 tires needed their pressure checked. I called BigO Wednesday and they said to bring it in on Thursday. Thursday I was told that it would take 30 minutes. After waiting for almost an hour before they took the vehicle in I had to leave. I called BigO Saturday afternoon if they could look at it. No, they're too busy, but I was told to bring it in Monday. Monday at 9AM I brought the vehicle back and I was told that it would take an hour. The vehicle sat in the parking lot for 50 minutes when I asked when they'd get to it. The employee asks me if I have an appointment? Yes, I was told Saturday afternoon to bring it in on Monday morning. Why bother having an appointment? Why couldn't they finish the job the first time that I was there? Why tell a customer that it will take an hour, but then an hour later they haven't even looked at it? read more

Crooks and Liars. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! I purchased a set of tires a little over a year ago from these guys. One tire went bad almost immediately. When I took it back to them they refused to just replace the one tire and would not honor the warranty on the other three tires. Before I had them replace the tires I had them check my suspension to ensure nothing was wrong. They assured me everything was fine. However, after I got my vehicle back I noticed some serious alignment issues. I immediately brought my vehicle back only to learn they never actually checked my suspension and I did need several parts replaced. This caused me to have to get financed twice in two days. This weekend I brought my car back to them to have a tire repaired after getting a nail in it and to have my tires rotated and balanced. After leaving their shop my vehicle now has extreme alignment issues. Every single time I've brought a vehicle to Big O Tires on north college they have royally messed something up or straight up lied to me about the services they performed. I'll give them one more chance to fix my alignment before I get lawyers involved. These are the absolute worst mechanics/ tire guys I have ever had to deal with! read more

I was in the Big O by College and Harmony a few weeks ago with a flat tire. They were calling everyone's name when their car was done, they didn't tell me though, so I was in there for 2 hours. I know they weren't busy because 4 of the employees were in the lobby watching Armageddon and talking about Ben Afleck. Then they charged me 20 bucks for filing in the flat, a service ALL other tire stores offer for free. NOW it is 3 weeks later and I woke up to the same tire being flat. I was polite in greeting them on my return visit, but when I told the man behind the counter about my previous experience he just gave me a dirty look and began acting extremely rude. The employees here do not care about your time or your car and they can't even fix a flat tire. Save yourself a lot of stress and find a different tire store. I have purchased Big O Big Foot Tires for many (5 or more) 4 wheel drive vehicles over 30 years. While I have never been really happy with their wear, I returned as a loyal customer...BUT NOT ANY MORE. Yesterday I brought a flat in for repair, I think the 4th time for this tire. Big O said it was leaking at the bead due to gravel in the tire bead at the rim. Second time I've been told that....it is clearly a defective tire. No problem with the wheel! They rubber cemented the tire bead, but would not give me an adjustment to purchase a new tire, even though this set of tires is down to 3 or 4/32 tread depth after less than 40K miles on a warranty for 65K miles. Offered a meager allowance if I would buy a new full set of tires. Said I could buy a different brand....so I did, but from the competitor right next door! I will NOT return to Big O. The manager at this location did not support me as a regular customer...so NOW I AM NOT A CUSTOMER! Get a better quality tire elsewhere! read more

Big O both lied to me and took my money. I paid for them to install 4 new high quality tires as well as do an alignment. After leaving the shop my truck still drifted horribly. I went back to have them fix the alignment that they had supposedly done, and they still didn't get it aligned. 5000 miles later my brand new front tires were both bald on the outside edge. After going to another shop to have the alignment checked I was informed that there is no way an alignment had been done because my tie rod adjusting sleeves were seized to the tie rods. Big O ripped me off for at least $350 considering that their " alignment" destroyed my tires. Don't trust this place. read more

Don't get your alignment done here very poor results after $80 vehicle still drifted to right the same way as when I brought it into them. They said it was in "specs" and that was all they could do. TL;DR: This location preys on women and laymen. BEWARE! This location LIES TO WOMEN. How do I know? I was a professional mechanic for almost a decade, three years of which I was a shop supervisor performing quality assurance checks on my employee's work daily. I had my girlfriend bring her car in to have the tires balanced after I noticed it vibrating at highway speeds this morning. Imagine my surprise when the multi-point checklist from Big-O comes home with all the tires marked on the checklist as having 3/32" of tread or less, which means it's time to buy new tires. This was astounding because I just had BRAND NEW tires installed a few thousand miles ago. LIE NUMBER ONE. They also told her she needed to buy new shocks and that her "original shocks" were going out. LIE NUMBER TWO - I installed brand new aftermarket shocks on her car last fall. This kind of business practice is absolutely unacceptable and I can't believe this kind of stuff still actually happens to women. If you're a woman or man who is not mechanically savvy I would definitely take your car elsewhere. The MO here seems to be "upsell as much as you think you can get away with". read more

My son is a student at CSU, and he got a piece of metal in his tire from all of the construction going on in Fort Collins. We dropped the tire off at Big O on North College Ave and went to lunch. They called to let us know it was ready. When went to pay, they told us there was no charge! They not only didn't charge for the repair, they put the time back on the car, put the spare back in the trunk and stowed away all of the tire changing tools in their proper place. I went into Big O with a tire that was leaking and a set of tires with about 5,000-10,000 miles left on them. I told them that I expected that I would at least have to replace the leaking tire, possibly the whole set. They were able to repair the tire and didn't even charge me anything for the repair. Got two new tires from this location 4500 miles ago so I went back today for the other two. I was the only one there and Monty was quick on the draw and got me in fast. Then he came over to let me know that I had two broken studs on one of the tires and they had just broken a third so they needed to be replaced at my expense. They didn't tell me there were two broken the last time so I thought this was interesting. Told Monty to move forward with replacing and he ordered the part and told me it would be another hour. About 45 minutes later I asked Monty about my car and he went to check on it. He grabbed the studs off the counter that were sitting there for twenty minutes as I saw them delivered. He came back and told me it would be another hour. Well that made me mad and I even told Monty that I was mad and he didn't seem to care. He told me pay for it and take it and I'm only human. No empathy accomodation or respect for my time. Needless to say I left without the studs being changed and spending quite a bit of time at this location. A little empathy or accommodation would have kept me happy and in the location to finish the work. Sad customer service at this location and surprised to see how Monty dealt with a unhappy customer as I believe he is the manage. Needless to say I'll be doing my business elsewhere and you should to. read more

I am never taking my truck to these guys again! I would strongly advise any and everyone who cares about the safety of their vehicle or those travelling in it, to do the same. I bought a set of tires from them last year. Developed a slow leak in one of them. First time in for repair, told me it was fixed, sent me on my way. Flat the next day. Second time in, put the tire on the front and told me to "drive safe". Tire was flat when I got home. THIRD and final time I will ever go in there, they tell me it's fixed. I go out to parking lot and I can see and hear air still leaking!!! Point it out to them, service tech is all pissed about actually having to plug tire. They give me my keys and truck back with the tire over inflated by 40psi!!!! Thank God I checked before leaving! Perhaps they should drug test their tire techs! read more

I usually go to the South store in Fort Collins (and I have always had a good experience), but I moved to the North side of town - so this was my closest option. I could not believe the disrespect. In January (2014), I had spent hundreds of dollars to replace my rear rotors and calipers and everything, which I knew was needed. It is now only November (2014) and I went in yesterday to get some squeaking (coming from my right rear brakes) checked out. They had told me that I need all new pads, both rear rotors, calipers, and they were going to go ahead and do it. I agreed at first. Then, I called back and said that I would like to come in before they do anything, because I would like them to show me exactly what is going on, as I had JUST replaced all of those parts just MONTHS ago! I couldn't believe how rude they were - not only did they treat me like I was an idiot, but they were very disrespectful in the manner in which they spoke to me. After I had asked for them to stop doing what they were doing (they hadn't started yet), I asked them to go in my glove box and get the receipt from January that states my services that I had received that day - they said they would get it (I believe it was Eli who was on the phone at this point). He told me he would get it and figure it out. I then called again, this time speaking with a different employee (I believe his name started with a "J") and asked him what the progress was. He then proceeded to say, "Clearly you aren't getting what we're telling you. There is obviously a disconnect with what we're saying and what you're hearing! It's that simple, you need rear calipers, rotors, and pads and I can only explain it so many times!" Excuse me? I started tearing up. A grown man being disrespectful to a 19-year-old girl to the point where she is getting emotional is the definition of UNPROFESSIONALISM. I may be younger, but I am not an idiot, and I am smart enough to know when I'm going to get ripped off. He then proceeded to keep explaining what "metal to metal" means (as if I don't already know from the first 3 times he said it), as I am trying to just get a word in! I finally get to tell him through the tears that I had just replaced them and there's no way I need them. He kept on explaining!!! I had to interrupt to ask, "How long do rotors, calipers, and pads usually last?" He replied with, "About 45-50,000 miles with the pads being replaced as needed." My car doesn't even HAVE 50,000 miles on it! I told him this and he asked when the last time I got them replaced was. I told him that he should have my receipt. He said they didn't get it because they didn't want to let my car down to get in the glove compartment. Pathetic. After he apparently, "Took the time to jump up in my car and interrupt all the mechanics," he found my receipt and realized that the ONLY problem was that one of my calipers failed, and that ALL OF THIS was under warranty! WHAT! He said that all I needed to do was go back to the South store and get them to fix it. I can assure you that I will NOT be returning to this location, and sticking with the South store, as they have always been extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and respectful to me. When I returned to pick my car up, he handed me my key and said to me very snidely, "I'm so glad I found your receipt, without me, you would have spent so much money!" Could not believe it. If I could give them negative ratings, I would. My advice, DO NOT go to Big O Tires on North College. They're just a bunch of unprofessional idiots. read more

I started with stumbling upon this place because I walked into the wrong tire shop. As I was leaving the Manager told me he would get me a cheaper price then the other tire store etc. so it did sound appealing. I did end up getting a set and they put them on that instant that evening as when I did arrive it was near the closing hour. The next day my TPMS light came on and I was hearing something. I went to my brothers house and they could hear my tire sensor broken off and rolling in my tire. Also he found a loose lug nut on my rear tire that he took off with his hand and noticed my rear locking lug was missing. I have a child this was so dangerous. How could they send me off driving this way. Not a happy customer. Yes they ended up rectifying but no discount or credit or anything was given. read more

Everyone was wonderful until after I bought a set of 4 tires. Evidently, they were mounted incorrectly and I kept losing air in two of them. Every time I took them in to find the problem, I was told it would take hours to accomplish the check. I do not have that kind of time, so they would only add air to the tires and send me on my way. Finally, I had a complete failure in one of the tires and took it to them. They could not find a suitable used tire to match up to the rest, but they evidently did find the problem with the other one and fixed it. Finally, after a week I went back to insist that they get a replacement tire for me, which they finally did. Two weeks later I had another complete failure, on one of the tires, in the middle of the night on a dark remote road. I took the tire back the next day and they again told me they did not have a suitable replacement. Being fed up by now, I asked how much they would give me to give all of them back. Because of the improper wear, they were not going to give me anything reasonable. I WILL NEVER USE BIG O AGAIN AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I CAN ABOUT THE TREATMENT I RECEIVED. read more

I've done business with Big O Tires on North College four times: two simple puncture repairs, a set of four new tires and (most recently) the replacement of a tire with sidewall damage. Customer service was outstanding every time. The puncture repairs were done free of charge, even before I was a paying customer. When I bought new tires, the staff found the optimal features/price combination. They inspected my brakes, reported some wear, but did not push me to get new brakes. When I came in with a damaged tire, Brad checked my account and saw that I had road-damage coverage (which he had recommended). Thanks to the coverage, a new tire was installed and put under the same coverage for about 1/4 of what a new tire alone would have cost me otherwise. 75% savings. For me, there's just no other tire store in Fort Collins. I'm a customer for life and will be going back to have a full brake job and tire rotation before winter. read more
