We moved to Louisville about 2 years ago and I had a wonderful relationship with my Service center in South Florida, Tires Plus. So my initial inclination was to go to tires plus right down the street from our house. Well that was the biggest mistake that I made. They "saw me coming" and basically fleeced me for $2,000 only to tell me my Explorer couldn't be fixed. I was leery about starting with another tire place, but I gave Big O on Taylorsville Rd. and try and was very satisfied. THey did my normal maintenance and did a find job at it. When I needed a head light replaced they went out of the way to find the right part. But to show their true colors took until this week. My power seat wasn't going back and forth, so I called one Nissan dealer who told me the could see me at the end of July -- 4 weeks away. THe other deaier in town said they could take in the car, but let me know that I would need to pay nearly $200 in diagnostic charges before they would do any service because it was Non-Standard service that I was bringing the car in for. SO I called Big O and they said to bring in the car. I left it there the other afternoon and within an hour I got a call from them telling me that they would need to remove the seat to figure out what was wrong and that may run up 1-2 hours... was I OK with that. I had no issue, as I knew that would need to be done. THe next morning I got a call saying my car was ready, When they took the seat off they found debris in the track that was blocking the seat. My total charge was for one hour of labor and about half of what the "diagnostic fee" woudl have been from the dealer. They could have easily taken me for a ride for several hundred dollars, but that's not their style. The level of honesty that these guys show is incredible. Needless to say, Big O on Taylorsville Rd. are the only ones that are going to do any work on either of my cars from here on in. read more

Used to be really good people who didn't rip or scam people. In the past year or two they constantly try to tell my family and I things need to be replaced or try to not give us warranty prices for tires. Ripped my mom off on brakes, try to make my dad pay full price for warranty tires, and told me my "timing belt" needed to be replaced for 2k (i have a timing chain) just bc of leaky oil. read more

Ok that is a complete lie. They didn't offer to replace any of them. And it was more than normal wear and tear. The technicians were careless. All they did was wipe them down with an oily rag. Made them look better for couple weeks. Once it rained, the were rusty again. Im going to make sure I don't do business with any of your stores. I walked in this store at 5pm sharp. The hours posted indicate 6pm. Two supervisors were leaning on their elbows at the counter. The waiting area is empty. I asked if this was the calm after the storm, to which one replied that this is the calm after that I'm not taking in anything else..great sense of welcome huh? I explained that I had a fault on a tire pressure sensor. He said pull over to the free air station out front. I backed up to the station and when I got out of my vehicle, there was one technician sitting in the alignment area on his phone, another walking around picking up stuff, a 3rd in the tire bay drinking a soda. They each made eye contact with me, and exited the shop, now 5:05.pm I waited and after about 5 minutes I got back in my truck to leave. Suddenly a tech appears , asks which tire, and proceeded to add air. He was done. I told him it's not the pressure, the sensor is fault. He shook his shoulders indicating he didn't understand That was it. The tech were back sitting and standing around again. 5:15pm I drive off leaving them to lounge the remains 45 minutes of their Friday as I drove off , to Shively, with the sensor in fault. They take appointments, but do not honor appointments. I showed up before my appointment, but they said it would be three hours because they took walk-ins over my appointment. That is a dishonest and deceitful practice to do that when I schedule that well ahead of time and they approve it. You know that perilous feeling when you drive to work, knowing you've got a tire that's low on air, and hoping to find it inflated enough to make it to an air pump in time when you leave? Yea, that's been me all week because a slow leak in one of my tires. After three days of that I decided to do something about it on my way home and I drive by this Big O Tires location almost every day. I called and talked to Brandon and asked him if I needed an appointment for a tire repair and if they had anything else going. Luckily he said no appointment necessary, just stop by, and there were currently 2 other tire repairs going on. By the time I got there I think they had already wrapped up the other two and they took my car in immediately. When I walked in Brandon greeted me, took some information, and took my car back while I hung around the lobby (sales floor?). I unlocked my phone to do ... you know ... phone things, when Brandon and the other gentleman behind the counter (whose name I didn't get) started talking to me -- in fact actually engaged me in conversation -- and we watched some videos on his cell phone. It was BY FAR the most engaging, interactive wait for service I've ever experienced. The guys were friendly, funny, a genuinely nice. So often the waiting room experience is a very solo event, but these guys made it anything but that...and, in fact, raised the bar that I'll measure the rest by. A THANK YOU to the guys behind the counter that day! I wasn't even 15 minutes before I had my car and was on my way. *BAM* Nailed it (actually it was a screw in the tire but "screwed it" in this context brings on an entirely different meaning) and the tire was back on the road. Thanks and my hat's off to the manger, Shannon Duncan, and his crew. They run a tight ship, they take the worry and the high cost out of tire repair, and they do it all with PERSONALITY. I always take my vehicles to this location when it comes to my tire needs. No matter the problem whether its buying tires or simply plugging a tire because of a nail, I know they have the best expertise like no other. This time I have noted a few things that happened that has never happened before. As I was sitting in the waiting room, I saw them pull my vehicle onto the rack inside. After the employee got out of the car, I noticed the headlights left on while they made necessary repairs on the tire. The vehicle was turned off, thus using battery power. Not knowing how long it would take to do the repairs, I decided to go inside and turn the lights off. I waited a few minutes before doing this hoping an employee would turn them off, but they didn't and I didn't want it to drain my battery. When I got in the car, I noticed they turned my vehicle off in drive. Not a good thing. I was always taught to put a vehicle in Park before shutting it off. So, I put the car in Park, turned the lights off and went back in to wait for the service to be completed. After the Job was completed, they pulled the car out front. When I got in the car to leave, I noticed the tire pressure on the tire I just repaired had 38 psi. The recommended psi is 50 not 38. This was the psi I had when I came in to repair a tire that was loosing air! I was taken back a bit thinking why didnt they add air to the right recommended psi the manufacturer recommends? Then, when I got home I looked at the tire and noticed they didn't put my valve stem cap back on. I notice I always get charged $ for those silly caps only to loose it at a tire center..lol...Anyway, I got the air compressor out and put air in the tire, for the last time I hope. So far the pressure is holding so they did a great job plugging my tire. The manager was nice and very professional as usual. Even though I had a few issues, I will gladly come back again and again to Big O for my tire needs. I know they have a very hard job to do, I really appreciate them for what they do. read more

When a tire blew out on the way to work, I needed to get fresh rubber in a hurry. I have an unusually sized tire that I was worried would not be in stock. I was right. However, as with other Big O Tires, they were able to order and receive the right size, then install before 1 p.m. My only issue is that I am a little particular about my tires. They were not able to get one that matched the make/model of the other three. I understand that and chose a different tire from those in stock at the warehouse. However, when I came back to pick up my car, I was told that I had been "upgraded" without charge to a different tire than the one I had selected. This is probably fine for most people, but I would have appreciated a call to ask as I wouldn't have selected the more expensive, but harder, tire. read more

Hands-down the worst experience I have ever had with a tire shop. I came in with a spare on my car after getting a flat and was told they didn't have the tire I needed, but could order it and it would arrive the next day. I was totally fine with that. Next day goes by, I don't hear from anyone, so I call. No tire yet. The next day goes by I still don't hear anything so I called them yet again just to be told they still don't have the tire. Finally on the third day I called and was told the tire still had not arrived but they would put a temporary tire on. So I brought my car up to have a temp out on it and they completely destroyed my rim. I brought the car back to them to show the owner, and he told me that they did not do it, and because I pushed back, he then told me that I needed to go somewhere else to get the tire replaced, even though the replacement I originally ordered had finally arrived. So now I'm waiting even longer for a tire and going to be stuck, paying for the damaged rim out of my own pocket. What a joke-- customer service was horrible and I can only imagine the owner was talking to me like I'm an idiot because I'm a female. I'll make sure to share this experience wherever I can. ETA: even the managers response to my review was a joke. Suggesting that they were "older" curb marks is rather insulting considering myself and multiple others confirmed The wheels were in perfect condition before my car was taken back to have the tire replaced. This Big O tires is an absolute joke. There is a lack of business ethic, integrity and professionalism. I dropped my car off for knock sensors problem and I was promised that it will be fix the same day though it can take between 30 minutes to 3 hours depending of the location of sensors. To make a long story short, I had to get my car back three days later without any work being done on it. I called multiple times and I was told that my car was next to be work on, but they never did. They lied about ordered the wrong parts and had to take it back. It is a buddy, buddy place and probably some bias factored in. The whole team or people working in the office seem very disorganized. Everyone is working on his own project or his buddy car to be fixed next instead of those who waited for days for their vehicles to be fixed. And visibly some of the employees were high on some substances while at work which is indicative of poor management. I wouldn't recommend this Big O tires on Taylorsville Road to anyone. The place is utterly disorganized, lot of dishonesty and lack of business ethic. read more

Brandon and Shane have taken care of me multiple times on separate occasions with my ~20 year old Lexus convertible. I am getting more life out of my tires than I have in the past. Most importantly, these folks are very honest people. Only necessary repairs will be recommended and performed and at a reasonable price. I needed a new battery for my car, I came in and they fit me in to get it done and an oil change. Took some time but I was expecting longer with how the battery sits in the car. I left and after driving for awhile my car started to act up. It was something with the computer in the car was reading to the transmission or something like that. I called then, I was kind of freaking out because I couldn't go over 11mph and cars kept almost hitting me even with my hazards on. I finally got back to the store, even though there was people ahead of me they immediately started working on my car and test drove it many times to make sure it wouldn't happen to me again. They were incredibly nice and so professional. I have been going to Big O in Jeffersontown for many years purchasing tires and servicing them. Their quality control in the balance and rotate department continues to drop. I generally watch their work so that I can make corrections for their work. At my recent visit the balancing went as usual. They removed weights, spun the wheel, then reinstalled new weights. As usuall they never check the tire for correct balance after the new weights are installed. Today I noticed that they reinstalled the tires and did not manually torque them. This is a new problem at this location. Upon mentioning this they went to the parking lot and did torque the wheels. It is not possible to tell if they had already been over tightened which could warp the rioters. On the drive home, I noticed the car was riding exceptionally hard. It was fine when I arrived. I checked the amount of air in each tire and found them all to be at 40lbs or higher. I lowered the pressure to the Manufacturer recommendations on the door frame to 30 to 32lbs. I do wish their service was dependable but will cautiously continue to service my current tires there since I have already invested in their free balancing and rotation when I purchased there. I can't comment on their other service as I avoid going there for anything else since this minor service is so poor. read more

Paying for tires on my car is one of those necessary evils that make my heart sink. But when I must, I will take my car to this Big O. Not only did I find their prices comparable or lower than other tire places. I also find that they are willing to tell me the most important thing: you do NOT always have to buy a new pair or set of tires when a patch will do. When there was a leak on one of hubby's rear tires, they let us know that since the front pair were newer, then we only have to replace the rear, older pair of tires. This is such a refreshing change from some of my other encounters when they push me to buy a whole new set of tires no matter what. The guys here are more no-nonsense than smile-and-sell. They are also spot on with their estimated cost and time. This is what I want when it comes to my cars. I will be back when I have tire related problems. read more

So this is regarding Big O on Taylorsville Rd near J-Town. My main reason for 1 star: TRUST. I have no trust in this Big O. After a recent experience, I do not trust the person behind the counter I spoke with and the employee he had a "bait and switch" on a tire. I normally go to Big O on Lexington Rd. However, I had a rim for a spare tire I needed. I called and was told $45 "OTD" great; they had a Michelin and Continental Tire, when I got there,2 tires were brought out . I had my tire tread depth gauge with me. The Michelin was yellow/red depending on location measured and 8 years old. The Continental only had 1/3 tread used,was all green and only 2.5 years old( need to know DOT week and year many cust don't know. I naturally chose Continental (it had tire size written on tread & tire easy to ID ; it was placed in bay in my view from waiting room. When care was pulled in Continental tire that was sitting there was was then gone. I saw a tire mounted onto empty rim and then car pulled out 1/2 out of bay with engine running. Curiously, I looked for Continental name. They instead Mounted Michelin. I left car where it was( engine running) and confronted sales person. He blamed crew mixed up "not enough coffee" Waited for corrected tire to be Mounted but had to wait for Michelin to be removed. When I got home I looked at bill; ( over charge not the point ) I was charged a "tire disposal" fee even though metal rim had no tire on it. I called and spoke with person behind desk and ask about charge: " it was for disposing your old tire" REALLY???? I had a rim. "Oh I guess use to putting it on bill". I Didn't bother calling Big O corp. since all they do is probably Have store Mgr call me. Veracity starts at the top of any business. Buyer beware at this Taylorsville Rd Location. Draw your own conclusions. Update 6-30-17: I've provided the additional information kindly requested by Billy Saxton tagged to my review. Have heard nothing. I've gone here a couple of times here and there, both for tires and maintenance. I went twice this week, once for an oil change and tire rotation, and another for a pesky problem I've had for a while now. I kept hearing a squealing sound from my car, and I assumed it was a belt (I was right, it was loose). Mike was very nice and professional on both of my visits. He would follow up with me, thoroughly explain what we needed to do, and graciously gave me his schedule so we were able to follow up accordingly. I took my car to get the serpentine belt tighten. I was told they would check to see if anything else needed to be changed. They called me shortly after and was given an estimate of $ 555.28! They told me they needed to change the Serpentine Belt, Drive Belt and adjust the harmonic balance.... I just had the serpentine belt changed on my car last month... Even after I told them I knew it was changed a month ago, they stood their grounds and told me I had to get a new one because it got damaged by the harmonic balance. I took my car before I authorized the work to be done and took it elsewhere. It was done in less than an hour; all it needed was the serpentine belt to be tighten. I have been to this Big O Tires for my tires on two cars for several years... Very disappointed in them for trying to take advantage of my trust. I will not go back. read more

Since it's an AWD I've been told by several different auto places (including Honda and Costco) that I needed all 4 tires replaced so I don't ruin my transmission. Shannon measured the treads on all 4 of my tires and then went back into his shop to find a used tire with the exact measurement of tread that I needed. I went to Big Ol' Tires by recommendation; glad I did! Shannon Duncan, the manager, listened to my situation and was able to help me out by finding three gently used for a very very reasonable price. I almost started crying, I was so happy and thankful. The other gentlemen working at the time were also very sweet and created a welcoming environment. They told me itd take 45 minutes to an hour... it ended up taking only 40 minutes! Lack of communication about how long it would take to fix the car. Took an extra day but that information was not readily available. When asked why, thinking there was more to the issue than assumed, the answer given was "because we're busy". Well no shit I can see that. Had to call a couple times to check in instead of receiving a status update I was told I would receive. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom either. This was my first time at Big O and I will definitely be back from now on! I came today for an oil change. Shannon, the manager, was helping me figure out what all I needed to have done. I let him know that I needed the cheapest oil change available because I just happened to unexpectedly lose my job. Shannon was able to help me get the BEST deal. Another big plus when it comes to Big O is that a tire rotation is free with an oil change! I can't believe I've been wasting my money at other places. I would not recommen! This is a long review but foworth the read especially for women and those who take pride in their ride!! I took my 2020 Ridgeline truck in for 4 new tires. I had to request the advertised "Free Alignment" which says comes with all new sets of tires. After my alignment and balance the weights on the rims fell off immediately as I pulled out of the lot. I had to return my truck again and wait for it to be rebalanced and "a different type of weight" to be put on this time. I picked my truck up the second time only to discover 2 of my factory issued chrome with green trim valve stem caps had been taken and replaced with cheap plastic caps. In addition, my flawless rims had been damaged down to the aluminum! I called again and had to return to the shop a third time. They replaced all four valve stem caps with ugly plain chrome caps and took the remaining two factory caps! They denied they damaged my rims at all! I clearly showed them the damage and they refused to do anything at all about it!! I had had my truck detailed and asked my detailer if there was any damage just to be sure and she confirmed my knowledge that there was absolutely no damage to any of my rims! As a woman they tried to treat me as if I was stupid and condescendingky acted like it was old damage that had been painted! The factory coatings were clearly visible in pristine order through the gouged areas! Aluminum, primer black then charcoal powder coat enamel finish!! Literally damaged to the metal rim!! All they did was deny deny deny!! I clearly do not recommend this business to anyone who actually takes pride in their ride! read more
