situation, and I am extremely disappointed with the way Big O Tires in Napa handled our concerns. We brought our 2007 Toyota Prius in for front brake service. Before the repair, the vehicle was not pulling to one side, and there was no smoke coming from the wheel wells. Immediately after the work was completed, the car began pulling to one side while driving. After driving for a while, we also noticed smoke coming from the front wheel wells--first from one side, and later from both sides. Because these problems appeared immediately after the brake service, we returned to the shop and asked them to inspect the vehicle. We were genuinely concerned that something in the braking system might be overheating and that the vehicle might not be safe to drive. Instead of taking the situation seriously and thoroughly investigating what had changed after their repair, the employees simply told us they couldn't see any smoke and that everything was fine. They denied that the problem could be related to their work, even though the vehicle had neither pulled to one side nor produced any smoke before the repair. read more

Just when I thought I found a good oil change shop, my opinion quickly changed. I arrived at 8:05 for my 8:15 appt. It's now 8:50 and they are finally taking my car in to the shop. Only after I asked the front desk if my car was done or not even started. I asked because I grew bored of watching 3 employees standing around and talking for a good10 minutes. Then I got to listen and watch as every employee on site came in to sign about their new handbook. Seems like paperwork could be done when customers aren't waiting a half hour past their appointment time. Then there's the obvious question...what's the point of making an appointment if your staff can't handle the work load? It's 9 now and they've finally started draining the old oil out! read more

1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing Experience at Big O Tires in Napa I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Big O Tires in Napa. I brought my 2007 Toyota Prius to this location for front brake service. According to my paperwork, the shop replaced the front brake pads and both front brake rotors, performed the brake labor, and completed an oil change. We paid hundreds of dollars expecting professional workmanship and a safe vehicle. Before the service, my vehicle did not pull to either side, and there was absolutely no smoke coming from the wheel wells. Immediately after the brake service, the vehicle began pulling to one side while driving. After driving and the brakes became hot, we also began noticing smoke coming from the front wheel wells. Eventually, smoke was visible from both sides. Because these problems appeared immediately after the brake work, we returned to the shop with serious safety concerns. Unfortunately, instead of thoroughly investigating the issue, we were simply told that nothing was smoking, everything was fine, and the problem was not related to their work. The fact that smoke was not visible during the short time the vehicle was inspected does not mean the problem does not occur after the car has been driven and the brakes become hot. Smoke coming from the front wheel wells after brake service is a serious safety concern and should not simply be dismissed. What made the situation even more frustrating was that, instead of first determining why the vehicle suddenly began pulling to one side after the brake repair, we were offered a wheel alignment for an additional charge. The vehicle did not have this pulling problem before the brake service. I asked for an explanation of what was inspected and how they determined that the new symptoms were unrelated to their work, but I was not given a clear explanation or a detailed written inspection report. To be clear, I cannot say with absolute certainty what caused the problem because the shop did not properly investigate it. However, I can say what happened: before the service, the car did not pull to one side and there was no smoke from the wheels. Immediately after the service, both problems began. I expected the shop to take these safety concerns seriously, thoroughly inspect the vehicle, and determine whether something related to the brake work could be causing the new symptoms. Instead, I felt that my concerns were dismissed and that the focus shifted toward selling additional services. Based on this experience, I no longer trust this location. If you have work performed here and experience new problems immediately afterward, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before paying for additional repairs. Customers deserve a repair shop that takes safety concerns seriously, investigates new problems after performing repairs, and stands behind its work. I hadn't been to Big O Tires in ten years but had a flat tire. I knew they would be able to help. Tom was so friendly and helpful. My tire could't be fixed and it was time for a new set anyways. I got a great deal and Tom was especially welcoming. Because of him and his service, I will now buy all my tires from the Napa Big O tires and I pay for alot of cars in the family! Had a 10am "reservation" for a simple oil change. I waited to watch my car not get pulled into the service bay until 11am. At that point I simply should have told them to forget the service - my bad. . At 11:30 I started to give the front desk grief. Told me it was basically done just some quick finishing. 11;50 my car was done. Seriously, find somewhere else. Given the time I wasted, I could have driven the Fairfield BMW, had them do it for free, and driven back to Napa. read more

Be very careful getting an oil change here. I just bought a used older Subaru and brought it here to get a quick oil change since Subaru service isn't open on the weekends. After getting home, I wanted to check something under the hood and noticed the oil filter didn't look right, there were gauges all over the side. I decided to check my oil level and they had overfilled by almost half! Took it back and they promptly redid it but lesson learned, check things and don't assume it's done right. If I hadn't checked, I could have had lots of damage to the engine and would have not known the cause. read more

if I had not already paid for part of my tires when I walked into the store and saw old Christmas decorations covered in dust, I would have turned around and left. Custom wheels washed before I went to the store when they pulled the car out they were so covered in grime grease and I don't even know what I refuse to leave until they were clean so I could make sure that they were scratched. I still don't know why they went in test drove my car came back. The hood had been popped at some point on the test drive. Car door covered and dirty hand prints large scratch on the front quarter panel of my car. This is a very well-maintained car and they did not take care of it. The front office girl extremely friendly very nice person to work with. I would not recommend the store to anybody. Tried to call district manager. He has yet to return my phone calls. This place used to be my go to place for tires and service. My last two visits were poor at best. The service writer, a woman, said my tire repair, which I paid for, was out of the warranty period. I told her you had it repaired a year ago,same tire, but the repair did not take hold as it has been slowly leaking air weekly. She said it wasn't covered and that I would have to pay for the repair. I told her forget it, I'll fix it myself. I put in some tire sealer and hasn't leaked since. I will no longer bring my 3 vehicles here anymore. The facility has gone downhill the last 2 yrs. I recently visited Big O Tires in Napa Valley to purchase four new tires for my car. This morning, I returned because one of the tires had low pressure. Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience with an employee who appeared extremely stressed and was rude not only to me but also to the staff. He was a medium-height man with a long beard, who might have even been the owner of the establishment. Additionally, the other employees, despite it being early in the day, seemed to be scared. I really think the labor law authorities should pay a visit to this establishment to talk to the employees. This created a very uncomfortable situation. I chose this location because I had a positive experience before, but this time, the behavior of the staff was disappointing. I hope they can improve their customer service in the future. read more

Everything, I would start with the front desk, then go to the work that should have been done in a correct manner but was not. Do not use the word value. I was fortunate. I'm not a mechanic, but when I was driving my car something did not feel right. I found a mechanic in Sebastopol and had to get a Smog check anyway. So I asked him to check it out. The new oil pan that I had purchased from Big O, along with the labor etc. The oil was leaking where the gasket was supposedly connected. I took it back and had to leave it for a long time. Was it fixed, I will find it soon. The low oil light still comes on. The funny thing about this situation is the person that I was dealing with wanted me to do more business with Big O. I changed my mind really quick. No thank you and have a nice. Not that dense, but someone else is. I had a great experience with Big O . A while back. Eric the Manager is rude and unprofessional on so many levels . Bought tires and he doesn't back up the free alignments. He becomes a bully and angry when you ask for it. I finally had to go elsewhere to get an alignment. Thank you Les Swaab for helping me out. Eric insists on cash for work done and doesn't give receipts. I'm pretty sure he pockets the money and this is his side hustle. Off books from Big O tires, in fact I know it is I was told this from one of the employees. Despite the sunburnt big O tire sign outside making it look like they are unreliable in general, they are actually pretty good at what they do, so don't let that fool you. My experiences here have been exceptionally good, the well-charactered staff really take care of you good. Only once did I have to take it back due to an imbalance on my tires after a tire change, but they took care of it with all honestly, and it really made the difference. read more

Just an update. LES SCHWAB fixed the problem left by Big O Napa. LES SCHWAB DID NOT EVEN CHARGE ME. When my tires were done in Napa (by Big O) they only put 4 out of 5 lug nuts back on. The manager at Big O mentioned that possibly the bolt the lug nut goes into was stripped and that's why their technician did not put one lug nut on. WELL!!!! NOPE. Store opens at 8am, scheduled, the prior day, an appointment(oil change/tire rotation) for 8:30am. Upon arrival I was told it would take 2 hours (I selected to wait in store when making appointment reservation) and that there were three vehicle in front of me, with each vehicle taking about 30 mins...Simple math shows there should not have been an 8:30 slot "available". Requested $10 online coupon rate. When advisor handed me the estimate, although I had a quick glance at the total price, he quickly took it back and tossed it in the garbage stating he forgot to apply the discount. He reprinted and the next estimate he gave me was $4 more than the original. When questioned, he claimed he forgot to add the additional .5qts of oil to the first one, however he never stated that prior and would not let me take a closer look at the first estimate. He additionally rationalized that he was expediting my vehicle and moving it to the front of the line - while appreciated (although it still took well over an hour for service), this is not good rationale for hidden increased costs. This is the second store that has provide suspect service - For previous transgressions, I will not return to the Benicia, CA store and thought the Napa, CA store might be different. While the specific issues differ, it appears that there is a broader issue of ethics and sketchy business practices at Big O overall. read more

I had my strut replace here and it was replaced with a quick strut, something not suitable for a Toyota car. After talking to the manager of the store, he wasn't interested in doing anything to fix this issue. I had payed over $800 for this service and the replacements materials just to have to pay more money to fix and the replace the mistakes they made. They weren't interested in helping me and it was as if they didn't care about the customers. I'm disappointed in the outcome of this situation and I would highly recommend going elsewhere for services you may need for your car. read more
