My family and I have been coming to these guys for a number of years now, and I have to say that the team at BigO Tires in Pleasanton is absolutely amazing. Every time we go there, without fail, they have been super helpful in getting us what we need, quickly and at a great price. We have been going here for years for tires for both our family cars and some older hot rods, and the team have always been super accommodating in helping us get the right parts to suit our needs. But these guys do more than just tires. Very recently I took our Rugby Club equipment trailer in for service. It hadn't been looked at in who knows how long and was riding very rough. In no time at all, the trailer came back fully serviced and riding like new. And the way they looked after us was outstanding - their support for local community is simply awesome. Josh Cherry and his crew are amazing. I should mention that I have a different big O tire shop about 500 feet from my house that I went to for years, but it seemed they were always trying to sell me something. Not so at Cherrys Big O store in Pleasanton, the one I'm reviewing here. I drive about 20 minutes to his shop to have my car worked on. We take all of our cars to Josh. They do great job with tires but they also do a great job on all maintenance for your car and diagnosis of any problems you might be having with your car. They work on the thing you ask them to work on and they do not try to upsell. They are trustworthy, on time, diligent, and clearly experts when it comes to cars. If I lived far away, I would come here to have my cars worked on anyway. That's how much I value the job they do. read more

Big O mistake that they overlooked. READ ON. I had some squealing noises coming from my car and had my car there over the weekend so they could inspect it. Keep in mind, my car's screaming in the way to their place so the sound is easy to replicate. After 2 days of not being able to replicate the noises, they never bothered to call me to give me an update. I had to call them multiple times to see if there's any issues or updates. At least an update of, "we tested it, but there wasn't any noise." Would have sufficed but no- I had to do ALL the calling. They said (after I called them) that my brakes were fine and nothing else had any issues so I could if I wanted to...pick up my car or leave it there longer so they can look at it. I obviously got my car and guess what-the second I started my car and started backing up, there it was, the squealing noise. I told them if they heard that and their response was, "oh you tap your brakes to stop your car? We never heard that." How else would you stop a car?!?! Angrily I took drove my car away realizing that there's a NEW sound that they did (probably due to them inspecting my brakes) and took my car to another technician and wouldn't you know it, they immediately found the issue. Also. The folks at Big O left my lights on. That coulda ruined my batteries. Good job guys... so this was what my new technician immediately found. The rear brakes were bent AND ALL FOUR STRUTS WERE SEVERELY LEAKING. That's kind of a big thing to overlook guys. I hope you are reading this and making sure you don't make this mistake again. I could not believe you inspected my car and said it was okay to drive with those broken parts. That's.....clearly unprofessional. Please learn from this big mistake and put it in your books to your future customer. I for one, am never trusting my car with you ever again. read more

I've had brake work and bearing packing done twice over the years at this location. One of the few shops that I've found that will work on larger 5th wheel RV's. Very polite and professional... and were able to schedule us for the next day. We have aftermarket hydraulic disc brakes installed.... they were familiar with the system and did great work for us. I bought new tires there on my truck so I waited for them to install them. I could set in the waiting room and watch them work on my truck. They kept moving and looking at the drivers side tire moving it back and forth. They brought someone else to look at it so I waited and watch to see if they were going to tell me about it. Then he put the new tire on and I waited to see if they would see if that tire still moved. But they never did or never informed me about it. So I went home and checked it myself. I came here for years and was super happy with the service until about a 12-18 month ago. It started with over tightening the lugs on my wife's Honda (needed a 6 ft breaker bar to remove and was so tight I thought the studs would break). I called and told them. Then it happened again 6 months later, same vehicle, other pair of tires. Come on guys ... this is a huge safety issue. Don't know about you, but I don't carry a steel pipe around unless I'm passing through Detroit. Excellent mechanics! I took my car in for an oil change, and mentioned that the car had problems accelerating. They found a cracked half shaft, replaced it, saw that the problem didn't go away, and eventually replaced my wheel bearing. Kept my car for 2 days and gave me a ride both ways. Automatically gave me a 10% online coupon. Plus 2 carnations. Now my 12 year-old Honda Pilot is running like a brand new car again. I can't imagine how much it would have cost at the Honda dealer. Couldn't be happier. On top of that, these guys always support the local school programs. I went to Bog O Tires because their oil change included free tire rotation per their website. When I went there I was told that they include tire rotation only if my tires were bought from them. I mentioned that the website did not mention that at all and that I came here specifically because that's included. I was about to leave when they decided to waive the tire rotation fee. I decided to stay since I was already there but now I don't trust them. They completed the services in about 45 minutes. Still, It would have been a more pleasant experience if they were a little more welcoming. When I went into the store I felt like an intruder. No one even looked me in the eye. The other annoying issue is that they didn't mark when the due date and/or mileage for the next oil change service should be. It's just a basic thing to do. Needless to say, I won't be going there again and I don't believe they want me to use their services either :-)) Its a win-win! read more

Shout out to Big O Tires!! I had low tire pressure on my passenger rear tire. Took my car into Big O yesterday morning and they took a look at the tire and said that it had a nail in it, but because of where the nail was the tire needed to be replaced. Then they told me that I actually needed 2 new rear tires. They showed me the old tires and they were indeed shot! I ended up waiting for them to put the tires on. It only took an hour and 45 minutes. Not bad actually! I expected to be there all day. Lol... I didn't have my credit card with me, so I asked if I could pay them over the phone as soon as I got back home. They said sure, no problem! Now that is awesome customer service! I have been going exclusively to various Big O Tires locations in several bay area cities for almost 10 years now. And I usually get good service at a reasonable price. These guys however are more difficult to work with. Everywhere else when I take my car in for an oil change they also do an alignment check if I request them. These guys don't. They want me to make an appointment for alignment checks. You see, all Big O Tires locations offer free alignment check (not correction, just check) and these guys make it difficult for you to take advantage of that by requiring a separate appointment for that. And I have one major gripe about them. I have a Big O Preferred Customer card through my employer and these guys give me a ton of BS about it. They tell me they don't have to honor it and that they are doing me a favor by honoring it this time. And that they don't always do that. One guy even said "anybody could print anything they want". They act like I am defrauding them. And it makes no sense. Big O corporate signed up with my employer and issued a individualized card in my name and they are not obligated to honor it ? Then why call themselves Big O ? They should just change their name to Joe's auto shop or whatever. You see I like to save money, everybody does, but not if I have to deal with this BS every time. I might just drive to my favorite Big O in Fremont in the future. read more

When they saw everything was perfect they told you don't alignment everything is perfect we got the car without any charges finally the are trustable and professional. read more

03/18/2020 I came to change my 4 tires. Apparently I had to change the brakes as well. I finally paid $1500 for all this. I would have been fine with that. But just leaving the shop and after a few miles lot of smokes and the back tire were super hot. I went back to the shop the next day where they told me they will fix it. Got the car back half a day later. I went to Santa Cruz the following day and after a few miles from my house, lot of smoke again and tires/brakes were burning hot. I went to a tire shop the closest on the road. They redid the brakes installation and told me it was not done properly, part were not cleaned and regreassed, leaving the brakes always blocking the wheels. This cost me an additional $250. I am going to the shop today to get reimbursed this extra work. Will see how it goes. 8/10/2020 So after 4 months of back and forth between the shop in Pleasanton, Big-O-Tire customer service (which BTW have to wait 45 minutes each time to speak with them), Big-O-Tire Sales Helpline, nobody has heard of my claim, that was originally submitted at the very shop by a representative of the Pleasanton team. The initial man i worked with was very nice. I dropped off my car at 8 am on Saturday as they are not open Sundays. I thought going right when it opened I would have a better chance of getting me car earlier because i had plans at 12pm. I was getting tire rotation and oil change for the record. But he said he could call me for my CC and leave my key in the car and not to forgot my spare so I could pick it up Saturday after hours or Sunday (anytime really which i thought was GREAT!) They called me at 12:30pm saying my car was ready. They asked for my cc. I gave it to them. They never went over the the other services my car may of needed. I reminded them to put the keys in the car along with invoice. I got dropped off on Sunday and the key was missing that i gave them. They were closed so i called to leave a message for when they opened on Monday. The phone just rang and rang they don't have an answering machine. I called Monday when they opened asking if they had my key and they did. I was just happy they had it and was very nice to the women who answered and she was pleasant as well. I walked in to pick up my key and was running late for work. They said i had to pay again. I explained he took my card over the phone. Which reminds me i need to check my account to make sure there is not two transactions. Anyway i had to go back out to my car and get my wallet as i thought i was just running in to get my key they forgot to leave in my car as they promised and i discussed with with them twice. I told them that i was annoyed with the customer service as this was my third time back and I was told my key would be in car and that my cc was charged. Nothing was done to correct there mistake or even offered but instead the manager starts screaming at me in the store. Saying they have been in business for 30 years (well how does that help me???) Then they should know how to proved good customer service don't you think? After the manager is done screaming at me I said that he shouldn't talk to customers that way. The lady at the front was very sweet and apologized. She said she would take care of me and felt bad for all the miscommunication. I feel bad she has a manger and or leader who would treat people that way. He should be leading by example. I will not go back to this place purely because they think it is okay to yell at customer. The man was probably in his 50'd yelling at a 30 year old women in the front of the store with customers around. I have been to San Ramon Big O's and never had a issue. The only reason I went to Pleasanton was because I recently moved. I will not be back and I encourage women not to go without a man because maybe he will think twice before screaming at a man as sad as that is especially with everything else going on today. read more

These guys are extremely friendly and efficient - my favorite combination. I was greeted promptly and opted to wait while my car was serviced. I was offered recommendations of nearby stores and restaurants, within walking distance, to visit while I waited. They finished up WELL before I had expected. Such an enjoyable experience in comparison to what I am normally subjected to at the Jeep dealership. Oh, and their prices are exceptionally reasonable in comparison as well! Josh repeatedly tried to explain to Jim many customers were ahead of him and the shop was not able to accept additional service. Jim berated Josh for not allowing oil change appointments and then shouted, 'I will go on Yelp and flame you!' An elderly women chimed in, "I think you are having a bad day and should not take it out on these people." Bless her heart, she was trying to help Jim understand the importance of manners, patience and common sense. It was wasted on Jim. Today I went to Big O Tires and had them swap out my old wheels that were on my truck with new wheels. I told them at 1:50 to please have my truck done by 4:15 because I had work at 4:30. The guy said he would have it done by then. I called at 3:40 asking for an update and the same guy told me they would have it done by 4:15. I arrived at 4 and paid for the work they did but my truck still was not ready. 10 minutes goes by, then 20, 30, 40, 50, and finally just shy of an hour after they said it would be finished I finally received my truck. I ended up being over 40 minutes late to work because of them. The icing on the cake is last time I had them change my tires I told them to have it done by certain time and they were nowhere close to finishing it by that time. They didn't even bother calling me to tell me my truck was finished I had to call them 2 hours after they were supposed to have it done to see if they had finish. The lady was like "Oh yeah it's done" casually as if it were not big deal that they missed the reasonable request of finishing it on time by 2 hours. I will not be coming back to this location. I gave them more then enough chances and they continue to fail. read more

Dave and Josh at Big O Tires in Pleasanton are great guys. Their staff at the counter is always great too. This is what attracted me to using them for my simple oil change/maintenance work early on. They also took great care of me with any and all tire work that I had need of. The problem with this company is that they try to do heavy mechanic work too. This is why they get a "Two Star" rating from me. On three separate occasions, I had three vehicles that needed major work. New radiator in one car, completely new cooling system in another and a rebuilt carburetor in another. First car cost me over $1000.00 to do. within months radiator failed while I was driving it. Car ruined. Second vehicle cost me $1500.00 for new cooling system. Took them over a month to do it. This fix was done correctly but as they handed me back the vehicle, their mechanic said "Your oil pan gasket is leaking. We will have to take a bunch of stuff off the vehicle to get to it and fix it". Why didn't they do this while motor was half torn apart as they replaced the entire cooling system!! Cost me another $1000.00 and as I write, guess what? The vehicle is now leaking oil from the oil pan gasket. Lastly, I spent over $1k with them attempting to fix an old Jeep that I had. I spent $400.00 on a carburetor rebuild on this vehicle alone with them, that once I actually had a jeep mechanic work on it, told me that whoever supposedly fixed the carburetor did nothing. Again, great people who work at Big O Tire in Pleasanton. I don't like writing negative reviews but every time I drive by their store I am reminded that I need to tell all future customers of theirs that doing business with them is great...if you need tires and an oil change. If your vehicle needs major work, be smart and take it to a mechanic that specializes in the specific issue that you are having. read more

I wasted my money here due to false promises, incompetence, and a bully at the counter. I asked if they had the proper equipment to reset the new tire pressure sensors I bought for my 2005 Corvette. Installing meant tire removal and balancing. They said it would take 1hr. Two hours later they were finished but couldn't reset the tire pressure sensors to sync with the car computer. I confronted the salesguy who said they could do the job, he walked off and asked the bully behind the counter to take care of me. I told them they didn't do what I asked, and they said they took the time to install the sensors and mount the tires, and tough luck, go away, that's a dealer item. Drove up the road to America's tire store, told them the story, and they grabbed their reset tool and reset my sensors for free! America's tire store is my store from now on. read more

I needed new tires for my Nissan Frontier and was also thinking of upgrading my rims. I went by Big O since they had a good selection of wheels in their front window. Jeff helped me out. We talked about options both wheels and tires. I gave him a list of wheels I liked and he said he would see what would fit on my truck. We went back and forth for a couple of weeks both researching. He was patient and did a bunch of work to find the best options. I finally picked a wheel and tire combination that looks absolutely amazing. I will not be back to this Big O tire dealer. EVER. They have finally flattened an eight year relationship. Last week, I took in a Big O Mesa tire for a road hazard repair. It was returned to me missing the air pressure sensor. The mechanic had broken it off. I was told that they would order a new one and would call me when it was in. Three days later I got the call. I asked if they would arrange to pick up and return the car. The dealer is 2 miles away. I was told that they had no one who could do that. I waited till I had some extra time, and got back to at the dealership this afternoon before game one of the World Series. I'm not much of a baseball fan. One hour later the tire was repaired. At no point during this visit was an apology ever offered. While I was sitting in the waiting room, "Phil" came in. He was upset because someone had come in and stolen their flat screen TV; and then he asked who the guy was in the corner with the Sharks hat. "We don't talk to people like that. I'm a Red Wings fan". I'm not much of a hockey fan. My daughter gave me the hat. "Phil" is the same counter rep that tried to up sell me when I attempted to purchase one tire for my vehicle. "I wanted another Mesa". 'But this and that is better'. "No "Phil". I want the Mesa". This when back and forth thru three sales attempts at three different tire packages. I purchased the Mesa I requested, and then had to show him the web price when he handed me a full list price invoice for the tire. Prior to this, we had another family vehicle serviced here. The fluid levels were missed along missing a corroded battery cable (which broke during a trip to Oregon two weeks later). On another occasion, Big O only returned 5 of the 6 lug nuts to each of the four wheels. It's doubly disappointing because I spoke to the owner when I discovered the lug nut problem. I really thought they'd listen. They probably won't miss three cars worth of business. But they do seem to miss the TV. read more
