This is a great business and they are capable of solving issues, my experience I bought all four tires for my wife's car and the next day one of them just let all air out while driving then I brought the car back, they make it seems like they don't like people bringing back something they already did, you don't feel the same attentions as the first day service, but yes, they did a good job replacing the broken tire with a brand new one, I expect to see the difference on the brand new tire than the rest, so because the service was not as a great I asked them to show me the bad tire that they removed, the guy went in there and find it that's good, but he is came out and just throw it in front of me on a bad mood I will say, I just say thank you I appreciate it and went to my car. Then I turned on my car and saw the TPMS light on my car but there's no way I'm going back in there. So I took a picture of my dashboard and then just left. Service was completed but man do they try to get over on you- especially if you are a woman. Over the phone , one price was quoted and in person , that same day, it went up by $200! I had to haggle to bring it down and I'm sure it was still over priced. Then they call me and tell me I need breaks to be replaced as well, ASAP because they are at 0%. Quoted be 1K! LOL okay, no thanks. I don't recommend this place if you are a woman. I won't be returning. Service was performed within the time frame they said it would get done, man who assisted was friendly , and so far the service they provided was okay. However it was such a distasteful experience when they do the old bate and switch with the price, gaslight you, and then try and charge 1K for breaks. Cmon read more

5 gold stars!! The Big O Tires shop in Richmond did 2 great jobs on my Camry this week. I got a routine service at the usually excellent dealer. Dealer found a tiny puncture in one tire while rotating tires and needed a couple of hours and extra $$$ to patch it. Big O is excellent at quick, inexpensive tire patches/plugs for 1/2 that price, so I went to Big O instead for the tire repair. Next day, tires felt rough at freeway speed. Back to Big O, where I agreed to pay for an alignment. In 1/2 the expected wait time, car was ready. Alignment was fine, but front tires were unbalanced (dealer's rotation?) . Manager asked me to test drive it and report back. Next day, I returned after freeway test to report wheels are now fine, and to pay the agreed price. He said 'No charge, because it didn't need the alignment and rebalancing was a quick fix". Amazing!! I've heard all the horror stories about bad Big O shops, but I'm here to tell you this is a good, honest shop that knows how to troubleshoot, and does the necessary work quickly and correctly. Super pissed off at this place. My tire sensor was out and I'd decided to live with it because I'd heard it was $700 to fix it. I went here to get new tires and the guy said they could fix it. When I said I didn't want to spend $700, he said "No, it'll only cost you $125." So I said cool, let's do it. A month or two later, the warning light went off again. when I called Big O, they said "Oh yeah, if one sensor is bad, the other 3 are probably bad too. You gotta fix them all at once." I pointed out that that's NOT what the guy told me when he took my money for it--I would have said (as I TOLD him) that I don't want to spend that much and I would have continued living with the problem (without it wasting $100). Now they're just saying too bad--they'll give you a deal on fixing the other 3. If the guy had told me up front that it would indeed cost $700 to really fix the issue, I wouldn't have wasted that $100. Bad job, Big O. I won't be back here again. read more

I have had a wonderful trusting experience with this Big O for over two decades but something is new at this location. Perhaps new management or style. Nevertheless, I purchased tires two years ago for well over $1,000 and suddenly a month ago discovered I had a slow leak. I found a screw head in the tread and took it to Big O for 'free' repair, (as I have often done in the last 20 years). They kept my car for 2 hours and called to tell me that I needed a new low pressure sensor for $167. I told them to just fix the leak for now and I picked up the car when it was ready. I discovered in the next few days that the tire was still leaking and that the screw was STILL in the tire tread. Also, the tire sensor was working fine, (dash board light went out when I filled the tire and come back on when it reached a low pressure threshold). I took it back and showed him the screw and that the sensor light was working fine. He said the screw was too close to the edge for them to fix and said I would need a new tire. I left and took the car down the street to another tire shop which took out the screw and patched the tire for $35. Even though I have purchased many sets of tires from this Big O for my Subaru, truck, trailer, and Odyssey over the years, I will never shop here again and I suggest you don't either unless you want to be ripped off. read more

VALUABLE STOLEN WHILE SERVICED HERE I dropped my car off at Big O Richmond Wed 11/27 to have a blown out tire replaced and alignment done. When I got the flat the evening before, several of the lug nuts were stuck, and my gold wedding ring (on left ring finger) was painfully digging into my finger as I pulled hard on the wrench to loosen the stuck lug nuts. It really hurt, so I removed the ring and put it into the change compartment to the left of the steering wheel, where I ALWAYS place it when I've had to remove my ring while in the car (always in the same spot to be safe). In the past, I have ALWAYS removed valuables from the car when getting it serviced. However, this was the ONE time I forgot. When I remembered Thursday (Thanksgiving) morning and ran out to my car to get my wedding ring (the car was locked in our driveway up in the hills), the ring was gone. The only time that the ring could have been stolen was when it was getting serviced at Big O Richmond. I am kicking myself for forgetting it was still in the car - the one time I forget to remove valuables when getting my car serviced, and sure enough, my ring was stolen. I called first thing Friday, and the person who I talked to took my number and said the manager would get back to me, but nobody has responded. I'll call again tomorrow and will GLADLY update this review if they handle it well. UPDATES: 1. I did click the Big O link posted in reply to my Google Review, completed the form, and have not heard back anything 3 days later. So disappointing. 2. I did hear back from the store's manager, who said they are not responsible for lost items. He also said he asked the workers who serviced the car and they said they didn't see a ring. So that settles it?! I will add that I noticed from across the street where I was working that several workers were standing around my car at one point, which I later realized was because they couldn't get the cable down to put my spare tire back under the car. So that's another possibility of times someone could have taken it. All I know is I know exactly where I put the ring and that's really the only time it could have been taken. I'm so disappointed and after being a Big O customer for 25 years, spending untold tens of thousands of dollars there, not a single Big O will ever get a dime of my money ever again. read more

The service in Pinole was excellent. They explained everything to me. The one in Richmond is very poor. They never told me about my tires and an alignment and I just had an oil change and tires rotated at the richmond Big O , when I got to work at 2:30 am I had a flat tire, called AAA went to the Pinole Big O and it was so much better they explained everything and took their time to make sure I got what I needed and understood. Thank you for your service Big O in Pinole!!! The price was good too, about what I expected. I got 4 new tires and an alignment, which was desperately needed on everything. EDIT: When I received my car back, I was informed I didn't need to pay anything extra which was appreciated. Perhaps due to the longer than anticipated wait. Regardless, I was very grateful! I got my oil change here, and I purchased a Groupon which made it more affordable. But they still charged me an additional 12$ which wasn't specified in the Groupon deal. As, well they told me it would take 45 minutes. I come back after 1.5 hrs and see that my car hasn't even been moved. Once they see me return, they take the car to get serviced. I wish they could be upfront about how long it will take. I do appreciate that they do a free inspection, but I don't appreciate how utterly long it takes. I came here only for an oil change and tire rotation. When they looked at my car, they said it needed new control arm assemblies and an alignment, which would cost $700. I had this looked at by a mechanic I trust recently, and she specifically told me that this work does not need to be done. They also quoted me $500 to replace my rear brakes. I had my front brakes replaced a month ago by a mechanic I trust, and he told me the rear brakes still have life on them. I'm very uncomfortable with coming in for an oil change and tire rotation and leaving with an estimate for $1,200 of work that two mechanics I know and trust told me I do not need. read more

Apparently if you use the "CHEAP" coupon of Groupon you do not get the same value as a "REGULAR" priced one. None of that was mentioned when coupon was used, that way I could have decided if I wanted to do the alignment with them or not. They didn't do it right the first time so I had to come right back after the next day because they did a bad quick job the first time. I went back within the year warranty (6 months) and was denied because they did the cheap one apparently . What a joke ! read more

Andy and Jose were top notch! I was driving on the highway on the way back from school and my wiper blades flew off and collided with one another. They were proactive and tightened the blades down quickly while also putting them on for me while it was pouring down rain. This is what customer service is all about! read more

Dishonest, technicians are not trained especially for wheel alignments and unprofessional management

I hit a pothole on the freeway that put a pretty nasty gash in my tire. Luckily, it was a runflat tire, so I was able to make it home and set up an appt to get it replaced. I have been going to the Big O in Pinole for years and thought that was where I made my appointment when I did it online. Turns out, I scheduled for the one in Richmond. For some reason, the website set my home location to Richmond. Watch where they set the shop if you try to book online. I wanted to go with Michelin Pilots for replacements, so they had to be ordered. After I placed the order and scheduled the appt online, I received a courtesy call to confirm that I ordered the right tires and to confirm universal size (some models of my car are offset). I also want to note that I reached out to four other local tire shops, and Big O in Richmond was the first to contact me back. A couple of the shops never even called back. Drove the car in the next morning at 8 and they had the tires mounted balanced and a front & rear alignment done by 11. Great! Tires also had a double rebate. One from Michelin and one from Big O, so even better! The parking lot can be a little dicey to get to if you are heading south on San Pablo but easy to get into if you are on the northbound side. Not sure why this location has such bad reviews but my experience here was great. I would recommend this tire shop and will return again. read more

Never again! I came in here because I had a flat tired and needed a patch or a replacement. I was desperate to get to work so I came to the nearest place that can fix my wheel for me. I called in and the representative says if I can get there within the next 30 min, he can replace the tire for me. And so I did. Little did I know I'd just waste my next hour here. At first, I was greeted kindly and was treated so nicely until they drove my car into the garage to check the damage on my wheel. They told me the location of the hole on my tire was not safe to patch up and that I should get a new wheel. Fair; I can understand that much. But it was the upselling and the condescending comments I couldn't take. I came in knowing I only needed 1 tire fixed/replaced, but he looked at my tires and said they all needed to be replaced. I understand trying to sell me tires, but surely 4 brand new Michelin tires should not cost me 1100$, and it wasn't even the top of the line Michelin tires too. I told him that this tire is fairly new and that it should be under warranty but he boasted that he's worked here for a long time and no warranty will cover that damage where the puncture was at. I asked if they had any other options and or if I can just buy a used one for now just to get me through the day and he said "no" because the Michelin's were the only ones they had in stock. As I start getting nervous because I really just wanted to get to work, I took a few minutes to think about it and told myself no. I don't have 1100$ to spend like that, despite how desperate I was. I went back inside and said no thank you. The rep was still trying to upsell me telling me that the mechanic has already started replacing my wheels and that there was a fee if the mechanic has already started putting on the tires. I took a deep breath and said I just want my car back and tell the mechanic to stop. At this point, I just wanted to leave and call in sick. He step away from his desk briefly to go to the garage and came back. He told me that the mechanic is just putting my wheels back but it'll take him about 20 mins. I said fine and waited on the chair next to the door. As I waited, he called me over saying the mechanic was able to find another set of tires. it's not as reputable as the Michellin but it will work; yea, I'm not paying 800 for those either; especially since you can get a set of 4 Michelin tires at Costco for about 550$. No, thank you. I walked outside to check on my car to see the progress. The mechanic was really kind to me. He talked me through the process of what I was doing because I was curious. He told me that he checked my tires and doesn't think I need new tires immediately but should look into buying new ones in another 5000 miles. He also was kind enough to try to patch my tire and add air so I would be able to drive to my apartment. He told me the air won't hold longer than an hour and to plan accordingly. God bless this man! Because of him, I was able to make it back to my apartment and look into the warranty coverages for my punctured tire. Turns out my warranty does cover the damage! I would just have to pay for service charges of replacement. Thank you so much to Mr. Mechanic man for being so kind to me. No thank you to the businessman for trying to con me. read more

I took my car yesterday for a couple of tires change, first they gave me and estimate over the phone and when I got there they gave me another price a little bit more expensive. When I call I asked if they could install some TPMS sensor that I had willing to pay extra for the rear ones and the agent said no problem since they already taking the tires apart. For my surprise at the shop they said that they can not do it because they are my own sensors and I said that they did it last time but their answer was they have a new policy because they have a new owner which I thought is weird since they are a corporation and have many stores. I ended up paying somewhere else 100 dollars just to install the TPMS sensors. Why would the agents say one thing over the phone and the mechanics something different. I have been coming here for 10 years and since I recently moved to Pinole I decided to give the Big O tire location a try. Stay away from Big O tires in Pinole, they are terrible there! They tried replacing my daughter's front brake pads and rotors when they were just recently replaced three months ago. I had originally went to the Richmond location where their customer service was great, we only because they had a black out due to the heavy rain. The block was out of power. But next time I've learned my lesson to just wait and come back to the Richmond location. read more

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! If you need an alignment don't go here!!!!!!! I prepaid for their 3 year alignment for 2 of my vehicles and the 5 year for my SUV. What a scam! I began bringing in my vehicles and noticed that the staff would give me back my keys a copy and a copy of the alignment like everything was fine, but I noticed that the specs were not all in green, for instance the camber was red on my SUV and my Prius's alignment was also off and red, when I asked why I was told by Gerald that " there was no adjustment per the manufacturer" for these specs that were off. The next time I came in my Prius's alignment was even more off and "not adjustable" per Gerald and he stated "that I must have hit something and the alignment was permanently damaged" but that it would be very expensive to fix it. I brought my Prius in to Toyota Albany and told them I damaged the alignment of the car, they checked my vehicle and said nothing was wrong with it and performed an alignment(that I had to pay for) and gave me my Prius back. I immediately called Big O and eventually got a call back from the manager T, yes his name is T, I came in and showed him the receipt and the alignment which looked nothing like Big O's, he admitted it was different and gave me a refund. I came back the next day and gave him my SUV to check the alignment and he gave it back with a supposed "perfect" alignment all specs in the green, I began noticing the tires on my SUV were wearing unevenly eventhough I kept getting alignments at Big O Pinole, by 28k my tires looked bald at the edge! So now I had to replace the tires, $1,000 later I came back to Big O to use my 5 year alignment again and like usual the camber was in the red and I was given back my keys and told my alignment was fine. Not wanting to pay for tires again with only 30k on them, I went to the Toyota dealer for an alignment and of course the specs were off! .16 off on the toe!! I'd been driving all this time trusting Big O to align my tires and they never did! I called T and he could care less, he told me he would give me my money back for my alignment and " call it even"! I asked what about the $1,000 I had to pay for new tires because my tires went bald at the edges from the toe being .16 off and he replied that "anything" could have caused that. I'm really disappointed on the customer service I received on 1/23/21. I took in my truck because I had a flat tire( note I recently purchased brand new tires from Big O Tires less than a month) the associate in the front didn't seem to put much interest and said let's go take a look.. he mentioned it only need air because they are new tires. He put air and said I'll be good this was at 3:20pm. At night when I was headed to work my dashboard indicated flat tire. I was stuck on the freeway at 1am Sunday. The person that "helped" me didn't even take a look at the tire because it's "new." Please do not go with Gary! Update on the service on this tire store #5008, today Monday 1/25/21, I came in to tell them about the negligence from the Gary Bragg. I was thankful I found the manager "T" on duty. He was very polite and helpful he apologized for the terrible customer service I received on Saturday. I suffered through a hit and run and there severe tire damage to my car. I bring in the car and 2 days later i get a call from the supervisor saying there is nothing wrong and one of his guys checked it out and found nothing. Red flag #1. I only came here because I am a caregiver and use my car for family emergencies. I talk with the supervisor and he decides to look at the damaged tire and area and this time he agrees and we set up payment info w my insurance co. Another week passes by and I get the car back but it is still not right. Another call w the supervisor and ok another appointment (it's raining and they dont offer a temp car so I can get to work- no biggie) so the sup says oh it's this part on the opposite side where they hit your car- and I was like yes I told you and explained what occurred-remember? Ok so finally I get the car back a month and a half and it's drivable but I said at this point I'll take the loss. Really abhorrent and sad customer service from a so called supervisor. They said they would come back and pay on Tuesday. I am 68 years old and have never heard anything like that when I take my car in for work. After hitting an infamous Bay Area pothole, my wife's SUV needed a tire. Her car is AWD, so it's recommended that we replace all four. The tire size is not very popular (275/40/R21), so after searching all over town with no luck, I ordered a set on 9/9/23 as the Salesman (Mike) was extremely helpful and assured me that the tires would arrive on 9/11/23. I scheduled to drop off the vehicle for the morning of 9/11/23 and took the morning off work, but when I arrived, I was told the tires had not arrived and that I should come back on 9/12/23. The next day, I took the morning off work and returned and was told the tires had not arrived and to return on 9/13/23. I returned the next day, and the tires had not come again. I was reassured that they would be there on 9/14/23. I could tell Mike was just as frustrated as me and that this was beyond his control, but luckily, the tires were installed on 9/14/23, and they aligned the vehicle at no charge for our troubles. Fast forward to 9/23, and my family and I head into the City. I got a chance to drive my wife's car and realized that the alignment was completely off and unsafe. Holding the steering wheel straight would cause the vehicle to turn into the next lane. I contacted Big O and informed the employee, and he told me they were swamped and to bring the car in on Monday, 9/25. I felt unsafe driving the vehicle, so I returned home, and as I went by Big O, the place was empty with four hours left until closing. The mechanics were sitting around, and no cars were in the parking lot. I turned around, headed inside, and explained to Mike that the alignment was not done correctly, and they fixed it in 30 minutes. Last week, I took a flat tire to Big O Tires for repair. After waiting 1 1/2 hours, the store manager informed me that the rupture was so large that it could not be repaired. They put the flat back on the car and I drove home. I took the car to another tire repair shop and they showed me that the tire was not repairable any longer because the technician at Big O Tires had scraped the inside of the tire too deeply and exposed the steel wires. Hence, the patch did not work. This technician told me that the original rupture was easily repairable if it was done correctly. I had to buy a new tire. I took the original tire back to Big O Tires and was told that they do not guarantee their repairs and told me to write a formal complaint. I did so and was told the same by Mike Del Monte, District Manager of Big O Tires. In other words, if Big O Tire technicians ruin your tires by doing their repair work incorrectly, they have no obligation to reimburse you in any way. So before you go to Big O for tire repair, think twice as they feel they are under no obligation to do the work correctly. read more
