The only reason that I am giving this spot one star is because their food is good. Let me just cut to the chase, the service is atrocious. No one should have to wait 15 minutes to be greeted by their waiter/ waitress and/or wait another 15 minutes for water. This spot was a favorite for breakfast/brunch, but it has drastically gone downhill on service. Before I wrote this review, I waited because I thought our previous experiences were one-off flukes. No such thing. The service is terrible and the wait times for drinks and food are long. In some instances either drink or food orders from my party were forgotten. In other instances, the appetizers came after the main food orders. Not sure what drove the shift on this spot. However, what I don't like is terrible service and having 18% gratuity added to the bill. I will happily pay that when a waiter/waitress takes care of their customer. However, I don't believe their is any incentive for the servers at Big Pink to improve. Hopefully, they address the problem soon. No ma'am. No sir. My buddy had told me *for months* that I had to eat here... that I wasn't truly a Miamian without having a late night meal here. Okay. Let's try it. Well... the first time I walked through the door, the place reeked of hot garbage. I'm not kidding. It upset my stomach. I put our names down and wait in queue with everyone else. About twenty minutes into our wait two guys waltz in, kiss the hostess and grab a booth -- not a two top. A booth. Without waiting. When there's a line. Oh. Hay-ell. Naw. Not having it, I take my turn to waltz up to the hostess and [explain why what just happened was an unfortunate thing to do to a queue of waiting customers].* Three minutes later, we have a two top. Nope. Not good enough. I.want.a.booth. Usually, I wouldn't have been so adamant but I was incredulous about what just happened. Butt in seat, we ordered some beers and nachos. Beer and nachos are always a good combo and these were decent. A bit salty, but decent. Feeling better about how the evening was going, I prepare for the main dish: the turkey burger. I mean, who can screw up a burger, right? Big Pink. Big Pink can screw up a burger. I was served a mealy slab of salt. The consistency of the patty was... unpleasant. It was mushy, despite having a crispy crust. The overwhelming flavor, despite the vegetables and condiments, was salt. Not only was it unenjoyable to eat, it was physically hard to eat given its size and mass. Unfortunately, given the first impression I had, the egregious line situation, overuse of salt, and mealy gummy mess that should have been a turkey burger patty, I can't recommend eating at Big Pink. 4.5 stars! On Friday night, after seeing De La Soul put on a great performance, we decided to have some of those "before you cross the bridge" munchies. This place gets a lot of mixed reviews, but I will tell you this, I actually LIKED and ENJOYED my food! And you know what, I've never really had a BAD experience here. Ya service might be a tad slow, but hey, it's Big Pink... So we ordered the Corn Beef Hash, French Toast, and a bucket of Sweet Potato Fries. YUMMMM! All of it was quite tasty. The Corn Beef Hash came with eggs and toast, which was the bf's meal. It was very good, and I had to fight with him to get a couple of bites! The bucket-o-fries was just delicious! Served with ranch dressing for dipping, we totally devoured those sweet potato slices of heaven! My french toast ROCKED! Nice and fluffy, super moist, and just mmmm mmmm good! I was deciding between Waffles & Fresh Toast took recommendation from server & ordered the French Toast. I had to get up and get my own syrup bcs he didn't return once the kitchen brought our plates. Because they were so thick, they were cold & soggy on the inside. I ate 1/2 of one French toast and left the rest (6 1/2 pieces) of my plate. The server finally came back and asked me, "how's everything?" I explained. I didn't enjoy them at all. He said, "oh, that's too bad" and gave me the bill. Overall, I find Big Pink to be a bit hit or miss. Some days the service is better than others, they do some dishes better than others, but here are my overall impressions: - Most days there is a line to get in; at least a 20 minute wait if you come during peak breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner time, especially on weekends. - Even when they're not busy, it seems to take much longer than it should for your order to be delivered. - The menu is quite large and extensive, so most anyone who comes here will find something to suit their tastes. - The portion sizes are quite large, so think twice before ordering an appetizer or you'll risk leaving this restaurant bloated and stuffed, or leaving lots of food behind. - In my experience, most of the items on their menu tend to be a bit bland and lacking in flavor vs. the description and the flavor you might experience when ordering the same foods at other restaruants. It seems that perhaps Big Pink has a huge menu, but doesn't do some of the items particularly well, or maybe pre-cooks or uses frozen ingredients in an effort to try and offer so many choices. I've been coming to BP for years but since it is at the beach, i don't come often. My favorite dishes there are the Vietnamese steak wraps and the Argentinian steak salad. The salad can easily feed 2 and the wraps are a pretty good size portion for either a starving 1 or for a light lunch for 2. The smoothies are also very good, they do fill you up though so be careful because everything on the menu is portion heavy! I always end up with a doggie-bag! Big Pink is obviously an iconic South Beach restaurant and, while I have enjoyed a couple decent meals here, my experience yesterday put me over the edge. Our group of five was seated promptly as it wasn't very crowded in the middle of a Wednesday afternoon. That caused confusion as to why it took about 20 minutes for a server to even come talk to us, after asking passerby after passerby who should be taking our orders. The second he started to ask what we wanted to drink I knew that we were in for a long meal. We had already been there about 30 minutes before we even got waters and by minute 50 we finally had our food. The second the food came we knew we needed to ask for our check because who knows how long that was going to take. The food is decent but you can bet the fact they were out of my beloved sweet potato fries did not add to the already disappointing experience. As part of my high school reunion we took a bus tour of South Beach . The busload of us stopped for lunch at Big Pink. Since lunch was part of the tour we were offered a limited selection of lunch items. Clyde and I ordered cheddar burgers which came with lettuce, tomato, onion, and fries. The burger was large but the taste was just okay. I had asked for mine to be cooked medium but it was more well done. The fries were tasty. The people sitting across from us had a salad with salmon. It looked good. Service was not so good. I know we were a large group but there were several servers taking care of our two long tables. My burger was served to someone else. After helping herself to a few of my fries the person realized she got the wrong order. Instead of getting a new plate I got the one with a few fries missing. No apology from our server. Now I'm not shy about sending food back, but we had to eat before the bus boarded to bring us back. One of the people at our table moved to sit near a friend. She asked me to tell the server she was at the end of the next table. When her food came I told the server where she moved to. The server shrugged, muttered something, and put the plate down in front of the empty chair. My husband was nice enough to bring it to the next table. Our burgers were supposed to come with pickles. I love this diner! Cheap food, huge portions, and you can't go wrong with pink everywhere! I have to admit this is a random spot for this place, not on Ocean Drive, but also not in the heart of South Beach. Either way you cannot miss this place. The whole building is PINK. Their pink delivery car is even parked right out front. There are a decent amount of tables in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk. Inside, there's lots of tables and a bar. It's definitely a 50s diner feel in there. They have a huge menu that includes all different types of smoothies. I ended up ordering the waffle plate with a side of eggs and bacon. Amazingly this plate came on 2 plates with waffles on one and eggs and bacon covering the other plate. All of the food was pretty solid. Also ordered a coffee (no soy milk available) and it came in a huge mug. Loved that CNN was playing and I got to read the Wall Street Journal at the bar. Fast service, good food, good prices. I came here with a friend this past Friday the 14th. Parking was not easy, even on a motorcycle, and this is something that is worth mentioning right off the bat. Located across from the Story nightclub and close to the South Pointe park and pier, this eatery attracts some celebrities, one of which we were told is a rapper named Birdman (I don't know who he is, but this gives them some bragging rights, I suppose). Though the location may be hard to get to for some, it makes sense to have it close to several hostels and a night club, all of which are on this stretch of Collins, as Big Pink stays open late (till 5 a.m. on weekends), and the food is not overpriced. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and the menu is pretty much all over the place. A bit overwhelming for me. My friend said their burgers are pretty much spot-on, so I decided to order a mushroom Swiss burger. I asked for it medium, but it was more medium rare. Not wanting to be bothered and frustrated by the somewhat loud people at the table (it's cafeteria-style seating with long tables), I closed my eyes and just ate it. By the way, these burgers are huge, and I don't care how big of a mouth you have, there is no way you can fit it in. So, I cut it in half, pressed it down, and tried my best to eat it while trying not to embarrass myself in front of my friend. It was okay, I was not blown away. I'd say the Rok Brgr burgers are more flavorful. I like my meat to have some sort of flavor: either smoked seasoning, some type of condiment/sauce (other than A-1 or Tabasco), or the taste of charcoal. This had none of those. There weren't too many mushrooms either. I'd say it's comparable in flavor (though not quality/quantity) to the Denny's mushroom swiss burger. With options such as Umami Burger, Burger & Beer Joint, Top Burger and BurgerFi, I am not sure how much of an edge Big Pink may have over them. Though I have yet to try the aforementioned burger restaurants (and others I am sure I am forgetting at this time), the things that Big Pink has going for it in comparison to other local restaurants are affordability in terms of South Beach eating, the convenience of staying open late, and the ratio of quantity (of food) in accordance to pricing. Also, the fries are fresh, they are crunchy and retain their skin, so at least they don't appear to have come out of a Sysco frozen fries bag, and you get a decent amount (as well as decent service and refills from the staff). read more

Our server sounded very unexcited about us being there, but he took our drink orders and food orders (2 pizzas) anyway. He came back to give our drinks and never saw him again for 40 minutes. 40 freaking minutes?! We didn't expect a fast food meal, but 40 minutes of not seeing our server or getting our food is unacceptable! We finally flagged another server and asked how long it's gonna take and his reply was "everything we make is fresh so it takes time". I replied that we just want to know how much longer because we have been waiting for a long time for our pizza. All he said was that the pizza took the longest... Really? We got our food and it was not even that great! Could have gotten better pizza at little Cesar's. Throughout all this we saw our server outside crossing the street back to the restaurant. They have the most delicious salads. I love the Spicy Vietnamese Beef salad personally. The veggie burger is extremely fresh and the fries are crispy. I prefer the sweet potato fries, myself. If you like fish, I highly recommend the sesame crusted yellowfin tuna sandwich. It's served on a brioche bun (yum) with wasabi mayo, a soy glaze and pickled ginger. Big Pink is the kinda place that wants to take simple delicious diner food and take it to the next level. You know the place. They take a burger and want to be creative or that sandwich and want to wow you with colors. Big Pink just cannot execute. The food looks pretty coming to the table. Great plate presentation, but the taste is very simple. I have found none of their dishes are a wow. Case in point a burger. I have ordered various burgers from time to time. I have yet to get one that was juicy, tasty and medium. I have gotten dry, more dry and drier. Now the plate looks great. Toppings look yummy, but when you take that first bite the flavors, texture, the messy juiciness of a burger just not there. They cook burgers the Cuban Way, well done. I found this in most SoBe restaurants. To be fair the fries are very good when hot. I must emphasis when hot. Now people come down here in droves. Always busy. You get the day time beach goers, tourist, club kids, Yankees from the north, etc. Just don't get it. Must be because it is 247. Location helps. Service is OK. Nothing great. If you get to sit outside on a beautiful day enjoy. Service will probably be decent. Now if it is hot "forgetdaaboutit". Servers just don't want to go out. They service their tables through the windows to see what your needs are. It is comical looking at them look at you through the windows. I give it 3 stars because it is open 247. It is convenient to the area of the beach that I go to. I usually find daytime meter parking. Parking in this area at night may be non existent. Big Pink reminds me of a college date. Looks good but tastes OK. Could do better. read more

It was very cute. The food was freakin AWESOME!!! It was my first time in SOUTH BEACH and I had a ball. I ordered the Salmon Salad and it was phenomenal! I had some left over the next day and it was still BOMB!!! read more
