We had 6pm reservations and were promptly seated on our arrival. We ordered cocktails (a ginger beer for me) and my spouse ordered a glass of wine. For dinner I ordered the blue cheese burger with a side of kale slaw. This was an amazing burger server perfectly medium on a homemade bun. The kale slaw was just sweet enough and complemented the savory flavors of the burger. @ roughly $14, this burger has to be on the short list of best burgers in STL. I ordered the Blackberry Lemon Crisp with vanilla ice cream for dessert and it did not disappoint. Service was attentive throughout the meal, which took about 75 minutes from start to finish. I enjoyed our time there. Big Sky is definitely worth repeat visits. read more

We were not impressed with cafe at all. The decor was probably the best thing about it. Standing in the foyer for several minutes in this non busy restaurant when the owner walked out and grabbed some menus to seat us. I had brought my cup in so I could take water with me when I left, the owner raised his eyebrows at it, snidely commenting that they had drinks here for sale. I assured him that we would order drinks and why I had brought it with me. The waitress was not friendly, shrugging her shoulders at me when I asked for a description of a menu item before begrudgingly providing a vague answer. The Bloody Mary was long on horseradish and a House mix but watery and disappointing. The menu listed it as 7.90 but we were charged 8.50. I ordered a Benedict sort of thing with what the waitress said was a spicy creole sauce with shrimp on a corn cake it came with potatoes which I asked to have cooked with onions. I was told they were always cooked with onions and peppers but when our plates came out, no onions or peppers in the potatoes, and mine had a longish hair in them. No apology, just removed my plate and assured me there when be another out soon. It came out within a few minutes and this time there was peppers and onions in the potatoes but I never did find any seafood in my sauce, which by the way was very bland and flavorless- not spicy as promised. The corn cake was completely blah also. About the only good thing I can say about it was the eggs were poached perfectly. The potatoes were also flavorless. It's like they never heard of salt. Needless to say, we won't go back. The bill total was $40+ before tip for 2 breakfasts, a drink and coffee. The restaurant boasts of using as many local foods as possible. Which is why I gave them a second star instead of the one that I wanted to. This is an important issue for me but I felt like they took amazing ingredients and managed to make them taste commonplace. We were wishing that we had chosen the restaurant across the street. Super disappointing but maybe lunch or dinner would be better. I edited this review to 1 star as I just learned from Known and Grown STL that they are not using local food sources after all. They had been on their list of Local purveyors but had to remove them as there is no evidence that they buy local. read more

Bookmarked forever. Finally dragged my work gals away from their desks for a well-deserved break to celebrate 2 birthdays. Wow! Yes we were hungry. Yes we may have over-ordered but everything on the menu looked sooo temptingly delicious and interesting! We ordered with the idea of sharing everything. We had such helpful ordering advice from our server-why can I never remember names?-he was great! So here is ALL that we ordered (no judgement on the quantity!): roasted cauliflower and butternut squash salad, pumpkin soup with smoked bacon and apples, grilled cheese with cauliflower, the salmon sandwich with blackberry barbecue sauce,cauliflower au gratin, macaroni and cheese. It was all over the top fabulous. We scraped all of the plates clean (except for a few small take home items). We enjoyed everything! Did we have room for dessert? Well, duh! Of course! We took our server's recommendation and ordered not one, but two desserts, since we couldn't decide which we wanted the most and they all sounded fabulous. The coconut chocolate mousse pie with amaretto whipped cream was my personal favorite, But my gal pals liked the pecan brittle ice cream sundae with caramel and chocolate sauce (that was pretty good too!) in all it was a delightful outing. I took the time to go to Blue Sky Café in Webster Groves because I heard about their roasted cauliflower sandwich. Considering I work with quite a few vegetarians, I wanted to try out this lunch special and see what it was all about. I went to the café on a Saturday afternoon after the lunch rush and was quickly seated in a nice cozy corner spot. I quickly took in the café and its décor, and it was neat and clean, with appropriate décor for a local café. I was quickly greeted by a server who brought me my requested water with lemon and asked for my order. I ordered the roasted cauliflower and cheddar grilled cheese sandwich and asked the server what he suggested for a side. He suggested the coleslaw as a side. The roasted cauliflower and cheddar grilled cheese sandwich also had fresh baby spinach and red chili mayo on the fluffy, buttery brioche toast. This was a delightful sandwich that had me wanting more. And I didn't feel guilty about the grilled cheese because of the cauliflower and spinach! The red chili mayo offered a great hint of heat and was a welcomed compliment to the melty cheese. The coleslaw, which I am not a fan of coleslaw overall, was outstanding. So, for me to say it was good, it was good! One of the best coleslaws I have had. It was not swimming in liquid and still had some crunch, and also was colorful and flavorful. A definite win. It was a little pricey to me at $12.50 to have no meat protein but hey, it was a different lunch that was filling and delicious. Herbivores and carnivores unite! We celebrated our anniversary here, what a great choice. The wine list is varied with some good value price wines like Klinker brick (under $40) and higher end wines near $100. We were celebrating so we went Pieper Heidsieck Brut. Not too long of a list though. It was also nice to see they had several Rosé wine choices along with 5-6 sparkling bottles. Highlights of our meal included locally sourced Ozark Mountain mushrooms on bruschetta bitch were totally fantastic and almost worth licking the plate to the chilled beat soup which was bursting with a bright reddish pink color. The chilled beet soup is a great summer sale and as a creme fraiche drizzled on top of it which plays well with the tart sourness of a beet. Our dinner was delicious and delightful. The real star was the Mushroom Gnocchi dish my wife ordered. Amazing! Gnocchi was perfectly cooked and he mushrooms and sauce was rich and creamy. Overall we liked the locally and in some case "farm to table" ingredients, enjoyed the quaint and colorful dining room, and felt the service was friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Came here for brunch on a Saturday. The food was quite good, but the older woman who waited on us was very rude. She literally pulled the menu out of my dining partners hand while she asking questions about the food. She also abruptly told me, when I arrived at 10:25 for my 1030 reservation, they weren't open yet so I stood in the cold atrium for a while. When we asked for syrup for pancakes she seemed very put out. I totally get that being on opening shift for a restaurant is stressful, but it doesn't make a great impression to have the person who is the server act like it's a hassle to wait on you. If my reservation is for 1030, then when I walk in at 10:25, it would be really nice to be offered somewhere to sit down with the total understanding that no one will get to me until 1030. If someone orders pancakes, I don't think it's unusual for them to ask for pancake syrup. Good food, but there's a lot of other places with much more pleasant wait stuff, not sure if we will return. read more

Been here quite a bit and it is always good. I can't say that I've had a bad meal here. Each time I try something new. Tonight I had the tenderloin cooked med rare. Each bite was so tasty and tender. My husband had the lamb burger with goat cheese which he really enjoyed. Most of their food items are locally sourced and you can taste the quality. Service is always prompt. The only thing I would say is that portions are small so if really hungry order a salad or small plate. The prices are worth the quality. read more

Came in for lunch about a week ago. Food was very good, as usual. I have to say that our waiter, Jim, was surly. It was NOT crowded. When we were not ready to order within 30 seconds of sitting down, he punished us by not returning for quite a long time. Each time something was brought, I thanked him, and was polite. Waiters can have a bad day. Since it was not crowded, and this was a business meeting, we stayed after the meal and dessert for another 30 minutes. Many empty tables. We were never offered refills of water, and he never entered the room again until we asked for the bill. When I stay at a table longer, and the waiter continues to make the time pleasant, I expect to pay far more than 20%. It is only fair. That did not happen. He was unfriendly and snarky. To be clear, if it was crowded or they were closing, we would left much sooner. read more

The latter is a favorite in the right time of the year. We have always had a great meal here, even on the odd occasion of showing up without a reservation and dining in the bar area . Went here for brunch with my daughter while we were out geocaching in the area. It is lovely on the inside and outside. Our server was very nice and friendly. I ordered the hazelnut cold brew with cream and the spinach goat cheese frittata. My daughter got the open faced ham and cheese. My drink and her sandwich were very good. My frittata? Not so much. I wanted it mostly for the goat cheese, which sadly was barely dusted on the top. It was really bland, even with the aioli generously drizzled over it. Had a great experience the first time we came to this restaurant. This time, not so much. I wish I had the name of our server but she was so rude. I don't think it was us as it seemed she was rude to everyone. Group of ladies behind us had a different server who was friendly and told them about the specials and the changes in menu. Covid is over. I know the restaurants struggled but now it's time to up your customer service. Get rid of employees like this or retrain them. read more
