Vangles has a big following. I could tell there were many regulars eating dinner there. But IMO the food is good not great. Nothing noteworthy. We had arancini and lasagna. The people were all nice and they have a great big bar. Perhaps we will give it another try although for the price there are many more places we need to try.

This place was on my list to try for a while and after finally going I can say I really like it and would like to go back to try more menu items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is dimly lit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were able to reserve a table and get a booth. They do not offer complimentary bread, I think it was maybe $4-5 so we passed. The calamari was very good and I tried a piece of the burger and I can both see why people think it's good but also why some may not care for it because it was a bit heavy on the truffle flavor for me but well seasoned. The lasagna was descent the lemonade was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately they don't have paper napkins which was a bummer for us messy folks. Somehow the cloth napkins just don't it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server Ashley was very warm and personable and we appreciated her attentive service.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is romantically lit and has a nice atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We enjoyed the arancini appetizer, the baked lasagna and the braised short rib. The server was friendly but our food came out really slow. In fact, several tables who sat and ordered after us received their food first.

We went to Vangel's for my friend's birthday and reserved the space in the middle of the restaurant. It was my first time there and I thought everything we had was absolutely delicious. Some of us haven't seen each other for awhile, so we were yapping a lot to catch up, but our server was so patient and attentive. There were 12-14 of us.

It was our first time here, the food was delicious and the service was great! We started with the Brussel sprouts appetizer. It was a large enough portion to be shared with four. I had the crispy chicken sandwich. Tempura battered chicken. Tasty! They even brought me a birthday dessert on the house! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing I didn't like or couldn't understand is why they had a large screen tv (and on) in the dining room of such a nice place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] With ourselves and the two tables close to us, two were celebrating birthdays and one an anniversary. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd say leave the big screen tvs to the bar side. Not the dinning room! Decide whether you want to be a fancy place for milestone dinners or a sports bar, but not both.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We came for dinner and we were amazed!! The ambiance is great for a date night. A girls night out. Or perfect for a happy hour after work with friends. At a table or at their spectacular bar. My husband and I visited for a date night. He had an old fashioned and I an aperol spritz. Both were great with nice presentation. We had the Calamari for a starter which I didn't get a picture of. We ate it too fast. It was delicious! I had the Airline Chicken and it was divine. Probably one of the most delicious and original dishes I have had quite some time. The chicken was perfect. The flavor of the noodles etc!! 100! My husband had the Porkchop which he thoroughly enjoyed as well. We will definitely be back!! 10/10

Brussel spouts and very light wine pour for $14.

Went here last minute for a nice dinner for my wife's birthday. Got a reservation for 5:30pm and arrived. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat us at a table right by the only other tables that were being set and right by the TV in the dining room. I just don't understand why the TV was in the room and on. It was a romantic setting but we were facing this television and it made no sense.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered wine and appetizers and main dishes. The restaurant did have a happy birthday card at the table for my wife when we sat down and it was a nice touch. Food came quickly and everything was very very good. Brussel Sprout app was delicious and the burger was great. I wish they would have served regular fries instead of "truffle" fries as they had too much truffle oil and I would have enjoyed them more without. They also offered my wife a dessert for her birthday and that was a nice touch as well. It would be nice if they had a wine option that was cheaper than $14 a glass, but the wine was decent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If they got rid of the TV, space out the tables on a Wednesday night a bit more and offer a cheaper house wine option our visit would have been near perfect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Owner came over at the end and wished my wife a Happy Birthday and thanked us for dining with them and that was a great touch.

    Coffee old fashioned. Truly unbelievable.

The hostess asked if the patio would be ok and we were delighted to say yes. My wife is using a walker due to upcoming hip replacement surgery and the hostess suggested we use the outside patio gate instead of trying to pass through the restaurant. We sat in the patio and water and fresh hot 2 kinds of bread were placed on the table. Our server, Connor, is so knowledgeable and pleasant. He was patient with us and his wine suggestion was spot on. Great sense of humor and he worked all the patio tables. The food choices were amazing and exceeded expectations. Pricing was comparable with what we expected. The lobster bisque was thick, hot and very filling. There was ample pieces of lobster as well. My wife shared that her pasta was not hard or dry or rubbery but tasted freshly made. Connor shared that the prep starts every morning with homemade pasta. The traditional toasted ravioli were just that, toasted and tasty and the CG shrimp seemed so much more than an appetizer. Meals could be had with just those. I was very satisfied it ordered lasagna anyway. I just had them pack it to go as I was comfortably full. I know there are a lot of choices on the Hill but I assure you this one stands out. Please treat yourself to Charlie Gitto's. Don't wait for a special reason. Any time you eat here will be special

This time, we arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night and were sat at a table in the main thoroughfare. The ambiance was poor and it was so loud that we needed to shout to be heard. We ordered the caramelized cauliflower appetizer which was drowning in cream sauce and so smothered in cheese that it no longer looked like a vegetable. It was too rich for us. They were considerate to give us plates to split the scampi style shrimp, which was well cooked. However, the grilled beef tenderloin and potatoes were very lackluster. We'd asked for medium rare and the kitchen must have been rushing as it was still raw in the middle. We tried to get the server's attention, but they were very busy and we gave up. A particularly strange and rude interaction from our server when collecting the check left a bad taste in our mouths. I was glad to see their popularity but disappointed at how it decreased the quality of our experience. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant time overall. If you are planning to go, I recommend choosing a less busy time for a better experience.

The toasted ravioli were small and tasted like they might have come straight from the freezer. The salad was probably the best part--they are known for their sweet Italian dressing. My chicken spiedini was nothing special, with flavorless prosciutto and a piece of cartilage in one bite. My wife's entrée was swimming in a bowl of sauce. Even the bread in the basket was smashed. The drinks were just OK, not fully mixed. The ambiance wasn't much better. It was noisy, with a constant parade of traffic passing right by our table. Our server was just OK. The oddest part of the evening was the table busser, who would literally throw plates and silverware into his tub. Every few minutes, he'd clear another table, crashing everything around. When he reset the table next to us, he actually threw the plates onto the table like he was trying to break them. It was so absurd that we laughed out loud. We started with the toasted ravioli, and it may have been the best I've ever had. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Our party of four was thrilled with every entrée. I ordered a veal dish with a side of pasta, and it was absolutely outstanding. Everyone else ordered pasta dishes, and there was plenty of "oohing" and "ahhing" at the table with every bite. The portions are huge, so we're all looking forward to enjoying the leftovers. Service was friendly from start to finish. Our server was warm and attentive, although things moved a little slower than expected, and it took a while for our entrées to arrive. That said, once the food hit the table, it was clear the wait was worth it. The restaurant has a wonderful history and old-school charm, though the dining room could probably use a little refreshing. We also stopped at the bar before dinner, and unfortunately that was the biggest letdown of the evening. The presentation and flavor of our cocktails were surprisingly disappointing--they looked and tasted more like drinks from a budget hotel bar than from one of The Hill's iconic restaurants. Thankfully, the incredible meal more than made up for the cocktails. With so many outstanding Italian restaurants on The Hill, we've been fortunate to try many of them, and Cunetto House of Pasta has firmly earned a spot in our personal Top 3.
