Quick friendly reception on the sidewalk by a relatively new staff person. He was an excellent articulate teacher providing instruction for operating the electric bikes that we rented. We were very pleased to be so well informed before we hit the road for our self guided tour of Monterey. The location next to bike trail on the coast made finding the 17 mile drive a cinch. I had a great time taking my two young kids (3 and 5) on a RadWagon bike tour around Pebble Beach. The reservation process was easy and the staff were great. My daughter wasn't thrilled about sitting on the padded seat so they set it up with a seat that has harnesses (like a carseat). She loved it! read more

Big Sur Adventures is conveniently located at Cannery Row and a great place to start a ride. I was a little apprehensive about the fat tire e-bike as I had not ridden that kind of bike before. The guys at the shop were supportive of trying each type of bike and great with giving instructions to make sure it was a safe and comfortable experience. It was really fun and a super easy way to cover a lot of ground in Monterey and up through 17-mile drive. Justin was my tour guide and his enthusiasm about the city and the life along the coastline was contagious. I recommend this bike rental place and their tours for sure! read more

If you are In Monterey and have a couple of hours, you want to book a bike from Big Sur Adventures and ride it along the coast as far as you have time for. We had 2 hours and went through some of the 17-mile drive, and it was a gorgeous and exhilarating experience. Best to book your bike a day or so earlier, especially on the weekends. I am not a regular bicyclist so we won't with the electric bikes. Fabulous experience! read more

We had a nice bike ride and the bikes worked without a problem. I dinged them a star due to the fact that we were charged an extra 1/2 hour, despite that fact that I noted our departure time on my watch as we left. Their records said that we left 15 minutes earlier, which was when they wheeled the bikes out of the shop. There was a 10-15 minute orientation to the workings of the bike before we left, so we were essentially charged for that time. I'm OK with that, but I would have budgeted our time differently if I had a clear understanding of what time they were using to calculate our total time. read more

This place was awesome!!!! My husband and I take trips to Monterey multiple times during the summer months and this place will definitely be my go to place every time. There was another place we tried that was an electric bike rental last year in the same building and were sad when they went out of business. These bikes are way better and the prices are what will keep me coming back... For hours of fun it cost $60 for both my husband and I. They have great customer service and the bikes are well taken care of as well as they give you a full explanation on how to ride them before they even start your time. You can ride the coast with these bikes which is the best way to see it. read more

I hadn't ridden a bike in close to 30 years - and this electric bike was fabulous. The staff was super nice and gave me a really wide seat so I could stay comfortable with my fat ass. I figured it out pretty quickly because of the great instructions given when we rented. We really enjoyed our hour riding and watching the beautiful views of the bay. I was too chicken to leave the bike path - although we tried it, the stress of knowing how weird and wild the drivers can be on Ocean View Drive was too much and we turned around and got back on the bike path. I booked the special pacific coast trail tour for 59 for my sons and I. On the day of, one of my sons got sick, and they didn't hesitate to refund me for his tour. The tour was really interesting and scenic - although quite cool. I would definitely recommend wearing warmer layers and gloves. The bikes were in great condition, and the people were super friendly. My 13 year old and I both got the step throughs, and we are both about 5'1. Very easy to use and comfortable to ride. Highly recommend this for anyone seeking to get outside and do something a bit more special in Monterey. read more

The staff is quite nice and the price is fairly cheap for an all-day rental. However, I do think their regular bikes could be much better quality to go up steep hills. The e-bikes seem to be good, but the non-motorized bikes are cheap and heavy so if you'd like a better road bike experience, I'd see if there's another option to rent a higher-end bike. That being said, they provide lots of helpful guidance, maps, and a phone number to help you out in case of a flat tire or any other mishap en route (thankfully we didn't have to make use of this). read more

Fantastic service, and located very conveniently right by the coastal trail, so you can hop right on and bike for miles of scenic coastline. They make sure everything is working that way it's supposed to, give you a bike lock and helmet, and make sure the seat is customized to your height. We rented bikes there today for 3 hours. Super nice guys who explained everything in detail, bikes worked great and rental prices were very fair and less than we saw at other places.
