We had chips & queso, Izri brought some great fruit out (delicious), & I had brunch chilaquiles (YUM)! A friend recommended this place and we decided to visit it, we love trying different places and we absolutely loved the food, the atmosphere and the attentive care not just from our sever but everybody. The food as a Mexican was amazing especially when you know different regions from Mexico and you know each regions have their flavors and staples. It has been a pleasure for my palate to enjoy those flavor again. We always like asking about the background and origins of the restaurants we visit and we always note and comparare details. The flavors just to reiterate.... Awesome! Atmosphere and service totally outstanding, today was our second time and the person even apologized for us not getting the same booth, we were like what??? You remember that and us? Well we are sold and we found the new place for us to invite friend and have family celebrations! Maybe I can not give a Michelin Star but for sure a "Miguelin" star! There's a first time for everything! The Pink Coco Margarita is a must have. I was lucky enough to be the first person Chepa's made this drink for. The coconut doesn't over power the drink and it's not too sweet. The pink color is perfectly pink just like a Malibu sunset. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. read more

My wife and I ate here for the first time ever tonight. We are visitors to McKinney from Louisiana. It's easy to see how they got a 4.5 rating. My beef enchiladas were good but my wife's fajita chicken quesadillas were incredible! The chips brought to the table were warm and crisp, the salsa had a little heat to it and the house frozen margaritas were very good. The atmosphere was nice. The waiters and the bartender were very attentive. I don't know when or if we'll ever be in McKinney again but, if we are, we will definitely be coming back to Chepa's!! read more

You have many better options for "Mexican" food and Tex Mex in the area. I tried the Original Chepas close to my home a few times before, I crossed it off my list. I was next door to this newer location when the lunch bell rang. So, I threw caution to the wind and gave them a try. They pull minor marks on all my key success factors. While overall there is no glaring design flaw in the restaurant, I didn't feel comfortable overall and its kind of dark. The service was friendly but hurried and inexperienced The food is severely lacking and the best way I can describe it is ,least common denominator. Ingredients matter but, so does cooking skill. Seemingly, they come up short on both. I wont return and wish them good luck but, all you guys flowing into town from other parts of the country: Do Not Use This as a Yard Stick to judge the Local Tex Mex ", Mexican Food scene. I love their food and the drinks are good too. Tasty and enough for me to make two meals out of one dinner. I think the prices are very good. I often swap out what goes with the dinners, so if it includes something you don't like just substitute it with something you do like! Getting good Mole, with excellent Service, is very tough in North Texas. So it was an real pleasure finding Chepa's, and sharing a Meal with my Wife, Son, and Grandson. My Wife had the Brisket Tacos, my Son had Chicken Quesadilla's, my Grandson had a Kid's Meal, and I had the Chicken Mole. Food was AWESOME, and the Service was better. I ordered the kids menu and the taco shell was so hard I could barely bite into it got stuck in my throat. Server seemed to have an attitude. My sister who is a vegetarian ordered the kids cheese enchilada. It came with sauce that had meat on it. They did not ask her what kind of sauce she wanted when they took her order. When she addressed it with the server they said that's the way it comes. They fixed it by pouring cheese whiz on top of it or what appeared to be cheese whiz. Was not even hot. The cheese on the inside of the enchilada was not even hot. It tasted microwave. We will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant. We eat Mexican food all the time and came here because of the good rating. We left without eating our meals. The server could tell that we didn't eat our food and did not make any offers. I am so glad a friend told me about this place that is down the street from home. After a particularly crazy week, a visit to Chepa's is exactly what I needed. For all you margarita lovers, you gotta have theirs! I absolutely loved the chamango, and tamarind ones. The are sneaky and pack a good punch. The Molcajete is a must order if you are a party of 2 or more. It is over flowing with meats. The panela cheese, and salsa verde are the perfect accompaniments with the meat and grilled peppers. It comes with rice, beans, guac, and pico (one plate for each person). We had food leftover there was so much. Staff is amazing, friendly, and attentive. I love their chicken mole enchiladas. Not a lot of Mexican restaurants make them, and Chepa's makes delicious mole enchiladas.

Do not wait. You have to go visit Chepas. I had no idea this restaurant existed. From Colleyville and our favorite margaritas there is from Anna's. They are strong but delicious. Chepas has fabulous happy hour Monday to Friday noon to 6:30. $8 margaritas except on Monday it's $6!! We got the fajitas which they serve in large portions. They did a great renovation on the restaurant and has a good wrap around bar if that's your vibe. When the weather is nice, the outside patio is cute too! Go give Chepas a chance. Very close to our home so wanted to check it out. It's a bit of a hole in the wall but don't let that fool you..... the food here in solid. My fish tacos were yum and served HOT .... a real pet peeve of mine. It also came with hot veggies and the whole meal hit the spot. My girl had chicken enchiladas and they were also tasty. I have a ridiculously long list of food allergies and mostly eat at home because of it. But, my husband really wanted Mexican food on a patio with margaritas. This place had been on my list to try for a while and I'm so glad we gave them a try. We were greeted with the door being opened for us and that was just the beginning of the wonderful service. Once I told our adorable server, Ladybeith (I hope I spelled that correctly), about my allergies she checked in with my list and Eli (assuming the owner or manager) came to talk to us. We talked through some options, he doubled checked ingredients, he assured that the kitchen wouldn't cross-contaminate, and they ended up making me the most delightful meal. My husband loved his margarita and beef fajitas as well. For going off menu and all the special attention, dinner was also reasonably priced as well. This will be on our date night rotation from now on! Special mention to all of the staff at Chepa's. Everyone who came to the patio checked on us and were very pleasant. They are a hardworking bunch! We came out here on a Sunday night to have dinner. It was really good. This place reminds me of ZuZu, if anyone remembers that place. The rice was really good and so was the salsa. I don't usually leave reviews, but this earned it. My friend and I went in for margaritas, based on its location. The place quickly became packed. I heard "tortilla soup" ordered a few times, so opted to get some to go. Holy moly! This is the best tortilla soup I've ever had (and I try it everywhere I go). I was excited when Chepa's opened down the street from my house. This is the closest thing to authentic Mexican food you will get, in the McKinney/Frisco area. (Cookies in downtown McKinney is another favorite). I sat at the bar and ordered Alfred's favorite, two CasaAmigos tequila's on the rocks and a Sopaipilla. ($50) All of it was delicious! My only complaint is I wish the flour tortillas were homemade and the chips were thinner. Something, in my opinion, not worth knocking stars off a review. The bartender was amazing, the food was amazing and the food came out hot, fresh and in a timely manner. Definitely worth giving a try, if you are on the fence. read more

I came today for the very first time. I saw the reviews were so good so I was like let me try this place. I got the cheese enchiladas and it was SO good. It was made with love. I also can say I opt to not have meat but I do not mind about refried beans. This place does not have the bacon chunks in the beans which was a lifesaver!!!! I can't tell if they still make it with pork fat but it was good to me. The server we had Izri was very nice and continued to check on us. His work ethic made me think he was the shift lead or the manager. Very nice guy. This is the best service I have experienced in a long time. I will def return They also have a bar and huge tv that is playing football which is great considering the Super Bowl is coming up. I can imagine this will be a CHILL place to watch.
