We love Big Tujunga!! They literally saved my cat's life when we were ordered to evacuate due to the Eaton fire. My cat is 14 and was frightened and they took him in as a boarder. I was beside myself. Very caring staff. We were so grateful and thankful. Luckily we were able to return home the next day. Thank you!!

Front desk personnel's not competent when giving an estimate & not willing to take responsibility for their error. Blanca called & gave me an estimate of $1,000. Upon getting an itemized receipt total charge to my card was $1,791, more like $2,000 estimate. Significant difference. The only option was to refund the full amount or move forward with the full amount. Not only did they refuse to find a solution but now I have to put my dog through additional stress finding another vet and running multiple test. On top of this, my dogs nails were trimmed extremely short causing her to bleed. Never once did I receive an apology for this. They say they care for your pets but clearly they've proven it's all business with them. Avoid this place if you can!

Our baby girl recovering well from her scratched Cornea. Thanks Dr. Edward!

Our baby girl woke up with an extremely swollen eye last Monday morning and we were turned away from 2 other Vet hospitals in the area. BTVH was nice enough to squeeze us in as a walk in on a very busy day for them, which we were extremely grateful for. They kept her from 8:30a until about 4pm. I thought that was a long time for an eye exam and it made me a little uneasy, as I have major trust issues with animal hospitals from having worked in one for many years. I did however get to speak with a pleasant lady named Ana who instantly made me feel better and allowed me to ask my questions and express my concerns. She was very informative and reassuring. I also got a couple follow up calls from a Dr. Edward who was INCREDIBLY friendly and also reassuring. We are new to the area, but I think we've found our new Vet for both our girls.

A vet that will actually care for your pet in need! They are very friendly. Slight wait at drop off but if that's the worst of what you have to deal with during Covid I will take it. Very tentative. Treated our dog who ripped out her toe nail rite away. Even added some cute hearts on her bandage. They also checked in to see how she was doing.

She broke a nail even their bandages express the love they have for their furry patients.

We have been bringing our dogs to Big Tujunga Vet for years. We live about 30 to 40 minutes away but they are well worth the drive. The service is outstanding, Dr. Ancu is knowledgable and personable. At times that have been difficult both Dr. Ancu and the staff are always so sensitive. Our current dog even likes going there. She runs to the door instead of away from it. I've included a photo of a bandaged foot because our dog broke a nail. Even their bandages express the love they have for their fur patients.

Invoice for an emergency procedure to remove my dog's broken, bleeding nail. I am grateful for the compassionate care my dog received. $491.

Both the techs and Dr Afshar handled our cats with care and skill, and we were given very helpful information on how to handle the weight gain of our chunkier-than-ideal cat who is already an active girl. A sign that makes me excited to continue coming back to this vet was how they recommended brushing our cats' teeth--sounds silly but our previous vet didn't mention it at all and we weren't aware it was a thing (we learn something new every day!)--and this to me, shows that they aren't just there to get the payment of future dental cleanings, but actually care about our cats' overall wellbeing. The exam room was also exceedingly adorable, the purple platforms on the wall for cats to jump up on really delighted me, and even though our cats weren't exactly in a jumping mood, they did seem to at least tolerate (if not enjoy) being put up there while we waited between providers coming in.

I began to think the doctor wanted to be least restrictive but then realized her decisions involved more money. My dog has severe allergies and I continued expressing that the shots aren't working. She then suggested allergy testing costing $500 then shots monthly for $100. I kept requesting apoquel which after the 4th time she prescribed it and finally my dog was relieved. She wanted another visit to prescribe it which I couldn't understand because she told me weeks prior, if the shots aren't working then apoquel will be prescribed so why do I need to come back again? She is super smart, responsive, caring, thorough and kind. When she calls to give test results she thoroughly explains them and next steps. If I email her a question through the website she always responds promptly. Our dog recently developed Cushings disease. They have strong…read moreratings, a busy office, and clearly a large clientele, but after less than two years there, I became deeply dissatisfied with the pricing structure and the way concerns about costs were handled. The customer service was polite but basic. My biggest issue was how quickly appointments seemed to turn into extensive and extremely expensive treatment plans. It often felt like the moment you mentioned even a minor concern, you were presented with a long list of recommended labs, X-rays, and additional testing. I understand diagnostics are important, but the costs frequently felt excessive and overwhelming. One situation especially changed my view of the clinic. After already paying for an initial exam and testing, I was told a follow-up visit for the same condition would cost nearly as much as a brand-new office visit. When I questioned the pricing and suggested starting with lab work first before jumping into more testing, I was treated as if I were being difficult simply for asking reasonable questions and trying to be financially responsible. What frustrated me even more was later learning that some bloodwork could have been sent to an outside lab for nearly half the price, but that option was not presented upfront. Clients deserve transparency and choices, especially during costly veterinary care. The most upsetting part was being told I could no longer return to the clinic while my pet was still in the middle of treatment because management considered me "too disgruntled" over the fees. I found that extremely unprofessional. Questioning pricing should not automatically make a client a problem. Thankfully, I eventually found another veterinary clinic that was a much better fit for me and my pet calm, clean, transparent, and very thorough. They spent time explaining everything clearly without making me feel pressured or financially cornered. I'm not writing this to damage anyone's business. Media City Veterinary Medical Center obviously has many loyal customers. But clients also have a right to speak honestly about their experiences, and mine left me disappointed.

Because of the cost, I needed some time before bringing my second cat in. During that time my second cat had a medical emergency -- a urinary blockage. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where the bill escalated quickly since everything was out of pocket. The emergency vet suggested that to save money, they could give me my cat's urine sample so my regular vet could run the lab tests instead of running them at the emergency hospital. I immediately called Holistika Vet because they were the only veterinarian I had an established relationship with. I was extremely distressed and crying because the emergency vet had told me there was a 50% chance my cat might not survive and that follow-up with my regular vet would be important. The receptionist told me it was their policy that they could not see my second cat because he had never been examined there before. I explained that I understood the policy but asked if they could at least run the urine tests (which I would pay for) to help us understand what caused the blockage. Unfortunately, I was told they could not do that either and that the tests would have to be done at the emergency hospital. The conversation felt very cold and unsympathetic during a moment that was extremely frightening for me as a pet owner. Fast forward to February 2026 -- I scheduled an appointment for both of my cats. A few days before the appointment I received an email canceling it, stating they would no longer see my pets because I had given attitude to the receptionist during the emergency call months earlier. I went in person to speak with management to explain the situation and my perspective. I was told they had no record of the conversation but were still refusing future care. For me, the most disappointing part of this experience was the lack of compassion during a very serious emergency and the refusal to even run a test that could have helped guide my cat's care. Thankfully, I have since found another holistic veterinarian in Glendale, California who has been incredibly supportive.

Before Hillcrest, we had another vet for years - it could take days to get appointments, recommendations were unclear, and I always felt rushed. One of my dogs had chronic pancreatitis and we were constantly on medication, in and out of ERs, and felt helpless. Finding Hillcrest a few years was a relief. Dr K immediately recognized that my dog had serious food allergies - we changed him to vegan food and he hasn't had to be hospitalized since . They are kind and compassionate but straightforward and honest and will love your pets like their own. Dr K provides very clear financial estimates before proceeding so anyone complaining about cost knew what they were agreeing to in advance. Our dogs are our babies and I trust the folks at Hillcrest completely with keeping them safe and healthy.

My dog has formed a small lump in between one of his paws & it was leaking puss. I went ahead & called Hillcrest & the receptionist was able to get me an appointment for the next day instead of having me come in as urgent. Once I was with the vet, they looked at his paw & concluded that this might have been caused by a fox tail. I tried to explain that I didn't believe that was the case since I had not walked my dog around the neighborhood yet nor were there any foxtails by my home. They were pretty convinced this was still the case despite me mentioning maybe an ingrown hair or some other cause. The vet didn't really listen to my opinion & instead recommended my dog either be given medication or go under the knife. Personally, recommending surgery was a ridiculous suggestion in my opinion. It felt scummy. I went with medication, bandaging & cleaning his wound. It totaled to about $403. In the end, the bandaging they did on my dog gave him a new wound that required me to take him to a different vet 2 weeks later. Turns out, the initial lump was just a symptom of my dog having allergies! Condensed Version: -Staff: Super friendly & accommodating. -Veterinarian: They could do better in listening to the owner, especially before jumping to surgery. -Location: Parking in the area was terrible. -Price: Expensive, $403, they kept insisting I buy certain things despite me saying I already had something similar. -Overall Impression: I appreciate the staff willing to accommodate us at the last minute. However, my dog developed a NEW wound due to their bandaging so I had to take him to a different vet. Recommending surgery was a big red flag to me, turns out, it was just allergies! I would have a hard time returning back in the future.

The last thing you want when your fur baby is suffering is to reach voicemail after voicemail. Hearing a compassionate human voice on the other end of the phone brought me so much comfort. She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too. The first photo is the day Oliver met Lilo as a puppy, their first photo together. The second was taken just before the veterinarian arrived to help Lilo pass. This is not my first review of our beloved Dr G, and I just recommended her to 6 more people again just these past 2 weeks. I always say to people I give her card to: "you will discover she is an Earth Angel - if she moved to a different town, I'd take my pup there... When you find a great vet, they are Gold! She's not only compassionate, present and knowledgeable, but also she does not oversell." Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth. At her Chatsworth location, I love that she's created a lovingly cozy "home environment" for the euthanasia experience. That it so needed during that deeply emotional time, and more veterinary offices ought to follow her example. I found her many years ago when I was dissatisfied with a busy veterinary front desk in Sherman Oaks, after they had made errors in my first dog's chart. Unfortunately he passed, and I learned that finding the RIGHT professional truly makes ALL the difference. So yes, I drive from Sherman Oaks. Gratefully so :) I am thankful that my cherished pups are her patients. Her ethics, her care, her kindness, her knowledge, her integrity - she's our number 1!!!
