We spent a little time looking at the fish tank inside the store but no one was around to help us. We ended up just leaving. I've bought a couple quads from these guys before with no problems. Maybe the customer service went downhill since then. Well that narrows my decision where I'm going to buy a side by side. It isn't going to be at Big Valley Honda. Poor customer service. Came in to by parts for an older CRF, parts counter wasn't knowledgeable sent me to Service dept - manager was short, rude & refused to help or allow me to talk to a technician. Claimed there was no one in the building at any time that I could talk to to address my question. Absolutely Ridiculous. Typical stealership gatekeeping, always willing to take your money but they never have an answer. When I asked to talk with a tech (so I could gain clarity on my issue and buy parts from their parts counter) He claimed 1) "My techs don't even check valves" & 2) if he asked a tech to come out and talk to me they would be losing time, a five minute conversation would likely have led to a service appt but now you've lost a customer permanently. If there's no one in the building that can answer a simple question about standard maintenance procedure on one of your most popular dirt-bikes, why would I pay you to work on my machine? Turn your own wrenches or support a small/local business that will support you. read more

Went to them a few months ago calling about a moped. I explained that I am a student and that I needed something small that I wouldn't need to pay insurance every month for because it's way out of my price range and also I didn't want to go through the trouble of getting a motorcycle license. The guy told me they could walk me through my options and set me up with an appointment. Also take into account that I had to call quite a few times to get anyone to answer the call. I get there with my girlfriend and we are looking at the different models. It all seems so professional, he tells me that they have many motor scooters that wouldn't need insurance or a motorcycle license. That I would go to the dmv and get a one time registration and that they might try and say it's a motorcycle but that it's really not and you just have to talk to them and make sure they inspect it. I took his word for it and bought the moped, a 2022 Metropolitan for $3,300. I got a ridiculously priced helmet as they only had overpriced options. At this point I had thought it was a great experience. I then finally after a month of waiting for a dmv appointment I get there and the person helping me tells me that without a doubt that the moped isn't actually a moped and technically considered a motorcycle. That I would need a motorcycle license, a yearly registration, and monthly motorcycle insurance. I immediately called the dealership to figure out what happened. Turns out I was helped by the store manager and he was "about to leave for the day" so I rode my scooter (only goes 40 miles per hour) all the way there and immediately went to talk to him. His employee behind the counter seemed sad for me (I talked to him on the phone). The moment I walked in he was talking down to me, that he never said it was a moped, that he tells everyone that I need insurance and a license and that I misheard him. I don't like using this term lightly but I was gaslit into thinking that I really had just messed up. I then later was on the phone with my girlfriend and was telling her that I felt stupid for not knowing I needed all this and if I knew that I was just going to end up spending $3,300 on a motorcycle I would choose one that would be a little faster that 40 mph. She told me that she heard the same things I did when we were there and that she remembers him telling me that I didn't "need a license as long as you don't get pulled over". Overall this whole situation is awful, I should've read the papers and not trusted the salesman who works here. He comes off as a sweet guy who wants to help me buy a scooter but then completely flips when you call him out on his shit. Now I'm trying to figure out how to afford getting registered, getting the license, and paying for insurance every month. It seems small but I genuinely don't have the money for it. Unless you know your laws and what you want don't bother coming here, there are plenty of other places that would be better for your wallet. read more

I paid $350 for a helmet, they shipped it via UPS and it never showed up. Its been a month and Im still fighting for my money back!! They said they would file a claim with UPS, but they never did! So I filed a claim myself. Talked to Mark the parts manager, he told me to file a dispute with my bank! WTF? Are kidding me?! How is this a real dealership? Horrible customer service!! As a 20-year salesman and retail store manager within the luxury sporting goods market, shopping at Big Valley Honda was the single WORST RETAIL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! On July 28, I stopped in to purchase a helmet, goggle and gloves for my new favorite sport. That day, my salesperson, Winston, was very helpful and friendly. I described what I was looking for, my preferred price range and he wasted no time finding precisely the products I needed. I bought an LS2 helmet, FlowVision goggles & Fox Racing gloves. I explained that I was looking for a shop as I was definitely interested in buying a quad at some point. Later that day, I went riding with my friend and noticed during the ride that the velcro wrist strap was defective - the bonding was falling apart. I live out of town but frequent the area to ride with my friend about once a month. I returned to the store today to see what BVH could do for me. Fortunately, Winston was at the counter and remembered who I was. I explained the circumstances along with my receipt (within the 30 day return policy) to request a refund or request for warranty as there was clearly a manufacturer's defect. Winston turned to (what I presume) was the store manager who was standing behind him as if seeking approval and thats when the "customer service" ended as it drove itself off of a cliff. Without taking a second to better understand the situation and without a smile or acknowledgement of my business, the "manager" proceeded to tell me that it was Fox Racing's problem and Big Valley Honda could do nothing for me; I needed to send them to Fox Racing to see if they could replace them. Having processed hundreds of manufacturer's returns over the years, the process is simple. Retail stores call in a defective product to the manufacturer, request an RMA (returned merchandise authorization) and send back the defective product for wholesale credit. I then called out the manager for essentially not being willing to provide customer service for a receipt carrying customer and then asked him if a $40 (retail) pair or gloves was worth a bad review as well as the potential to lose tens of thousands of dollars in lost revenue from me as a customer. What then happened was nothing sort of mortifying. Without taking a single breath to try to calm the situation, in light of store policies in place, that my options were to take it up with Fox and that the defect was their problem and not BVH's. I then pressed the fact that BVH was a retail representation of Fox and what he was suggesting was that I was essentially on my own. Being a retail paying customer of BVH meant nothing at all. The manager then went to the glove rack and find what I assumed was an SKU to process a return. He then spent several minutes looking up info on the stores POS terminal only to respond that he would be willing to sell me another pair of gloves at their cost ($24) and that he would send back the gloves to fox and mail me the new pair "if" Fox was willing to replace them. Although the replacement pair was similar, they were lacking the key feature of the bad pair that was the selling point for me in the first place. Not to mention I couldn't believe the attitude being thrown my way for such a minor issue. At this point I wanted nothing further to do with BVH. I just wanted a refund, call it a day and move on with my life. The manager then proceeded to tell me that if he was to process a return that it could cost him his job - as apparently there is no confidence in the store's owners to entrust their management to make decisions that can preserve customer service and earn the trust of a new customer. The manager proceeded throw down the gauntlet and tell me that that was all they could do for me - take it or leave it. At this point I reiterated that I was not happy with the store's return policy to which he responded that there is nowhere on the receipt that permits return of merchandise unless it's new, even if it's clearly defective. Without any resolution, the manager immediately pivoted to help ring up another customer's purchase; to which I proceeded to finish voicing my thoughts to Winston that BVH's store policies are horrible and also asserted that my problem was not with Winston (or even the store manager) but with the business itself. The manager then turned from the cash register and told me to stop talking or he'd ask me to leave the store. I refused his offer and with one final statement that the ENTIRE EXPERIENCE WITH BVH WAS UNFORTUNATE, turned around and walked out. Upon leaving, I went down the street to a competitor and asked how they handle defective merchandise for a retail paying customer with a receipt. His immediate response, with a smile, was that "we take care of you, no matter what!" That is the correct response from a true customer service professional. read more

Big Valley Honda is not a bad spot to grab gear for your motorcycle needs! I have taken my CBR-1000RR here for work and they did a good job with it. It was on the pricey side for the work but their service was good. I didn't have any issues here. They have a good selection for motorcycle gear and motorcycles. It's like I'm a kid in a candy store every time I come here. So many cool toys you can buy. I look around and I always find myself going to the street bikes every time. They always have the newest and baddest model of the year here. I will say their prices are okay for them. This facility's pretty big and the have everything from street bikes, dirt bikes, quads, scooters, cruisers, and so much more. If your a motorcycle enthusiast this place is worth the trip and definitely check this place out. My experience here has been good and I have never had any real big issues. This place must be killing it with sales, because they can't be bothered when someone walks in the door. I wandered around the shop for about twenty minutes and was never even acknowledged. There were multiple employees at the parts counter and a couple on the sales floor. One actually appeared to avoid me when I started to walk past him in one of the aisles by the parts counter. The one salesman who was helping a customer didn't say a word to me as I walked past him to leave the shop. I would feel as though this might have been an isolated incident except that this is the second time that I have had the same experience in there. Don't bother calling either, they won't return your call, ever... I would NOT recommend this place for anything, shop around and find a shop that will at least greet you when walk through the door. read more

Very dissatisfied and disappointed. I went to look at a motorcycle and spoke with the sales manager. We had quite a Long conversation about a motorcycle. Pursuant to our conversation he said he had a used one in the back and would I like to see it. I did and liked it very much. He told me to go home and think about it and call him on Wednesday. He stated he was going camping and would not be Back in the office until Wednesday. He said he couldn't sell the motorcycle because it hadn't been paid off yet. He said he would be willing to hold it. I came back later that day with a friend of mine to talk with him, but he had already left for the day. I called him on Wednesday as requested but he didn't answer. I left a message and told him I was interested in the motorcycle and would like to see if we could work something out to purchase. He called the next day and left me a message that one of his prior customers is buying the motorcycle and his wife is also buying one. I called him and reminded him of the conversation we had and his promise he made to me. He stated that I didn't call him earlier in the week. I replied why would I, when you told me you were going camping and wouldn't be in the office until Wednesday. Obviously not a man of his word and is just money driven. I will never do business with Big Valley Honda. If this is the actions of the sales manager, I definitely cannot trust the business. I will spread the word about my experience. read more

Walked around the store for 20 mins waiting for a sales person to help me. My husband had already spoke with Justin about me coming to purchase a Rebel 300. I finally walked out because not a single person spoke to me. My husband told me to go back in and try again. So again I walked around and no one helped me. I went up to the counter and asked for help. I told him Justin had helped My husband earlier on. He said oh there he is. Justin looked at me and kept walking away without a word. I went back to the counter and told Then I have cash I want to buy the Rebel 300. He got the finance lady to write it up. When the service guy went over it with me before I took it home he said you should have got a 500 which was true now I am stuck with a bike that is too small. I refuse to go back to them for the 500. Service: BVH has given good service and treated me fairly. There was an issue with a poorly done service. When I returned for warranty , MJ went over and above to remedy the problem. There has been a turnover of mechanics. That being said, the current crew, especially MJ and Darrell, are consummate pros. Sales: the inventory is excellent. We went in to BVH this morning to get a VIN verification on an older bike for title. We were directed to the service dept. When we got to the service dept MJ(?) said she needed the certificate of origin and bill of sale to do a VIN verification. We were not asking her to title the bike for us, just verify the VIN so we can title. VIN verification does not require other forms, it is just a physical confirmation from the bike. No names are even on the form. MJ was rude and condescending and implied we might have stolen the bike. We would have been happy to give her our id's, etc but we did not have the certificate of origin on a 13 year old 3rd hand dirt bike. We ended up going down the street to the Kawasaki dealer, had the VIN verification completed. We also met the great team of guys at the Kawasaki shop in the process. Thanks MJ and BVH - your rude treatment sent us to another dealer that took great care of us. They sold us new riding gear, showed us their shop and completed our OHV form easily. We look forward to having Reno Kawi service all our bikes and our side by side in the future. We will be referring all our friends to Reno Kawi and we will not be visiting BVH any more. read more

Update to my previous reviews. After talking to their General Service Manager about their phone problems I made an appointment. Not surprisingly, there was no record of my appointment when I arrived two days later. Surprisingly the brake repair was quickly made but unavailability of parts halted repair of cruise control. I have driven past Big Valley Honda (BVH) for many years and not even turning a blind eye. That was until my girlfriend and I received an invite to participate at his 2015 Street Vibrations event. BVH was recently acquired by Tony who seems to be bringing a new and vibrant energy to the store. Even though I did not purchase anything at his store, my girlfriend and I had such a great experience working with Tony and his family that I thought I should post a review. While we were at BVH Tony always made sure Danielle and I were doing okay and had everything we needed. He seemed to be doing the same both with his employees and customers. I've owned a Honda Goldwing for about 10 years and in that time I've need service work three or four times and each time I come to Honda they've been unable to get my bike in and I've had to take it somewhere else this is the last time I needed a simple diagnosis and they say they can't get me in till winter I went ahead and bought two diagnostic tools myself did the Diagnostics on the bike and I'm selling the piece of s*** now and I'll never own another Honda again because of this dealership... they're quick to want to try to push a new motorcycle on me but they have no time to do a simple diagnosis on my bike and if I'm going to go to somebody else to have my bike worked on and I'm going to buy different bike Kawasaki Yamaha even a piece of s*** Harley would be better than having to deal with this worthless Honda dealer read more

Essentially, I decided last minute to pull the trigger on the surprise & decided to go with Honda. I called Justin and told him the bike I wanted, it was in stock needing assembly. I should mention this was late on a Friday evening & I needed to pick the bike up and be back home on Saturday morning in a half hour. Everything went smooth! They were waiting for me Saturday morning, I was in and out in 15 minutes with signing a few papers. It's so nice to be able to see trail marked so well using this machine! Last year I was looking for a CRF300LA and Justin Cole put my name on a list (no deposit necessary) that he was making in anticipation of the bike's availability; he thought it would probably be a couple of months wait. Sure enough, about two months later I got a message from him that one had come in and I was next up on the wait list. He was very easy to deal with and the bike was well prepped. A very smooth buying process with no surprises, like the insane mark-ups that other dealers were charging, they helped me load the bike in to my truck and off I went. I throughly checked the bike when I got home over the next few days and didn't find any issues! Nothing loose, no incorrectly torqued bolts, nothing missing. My wife and I have been doing business with Big Valley Honda (BVH) for several years, so we have 'history.' Because we live a long way away (out-of-State), they have stored our motorcycles for us there so we can fly in and ride them whenever we're able. Storing a Honda motorcycle with a Honda Dealer is as good as it can get. If the rig needs a tuneup or any other service, a phonecall or e-mail starts the process. Next step: Show up and ride -- no delay whatsoever. It is WONDERFUL. Our rigs are freshly clean, they run well, and our last trip was flawless -- same as the others. The Staff is very responsive to the customer. In fact, we think they should write the book on Customer Service. They do whatever it takes to please. The ones with whom we've interacted the most, at least recently, are Kathleen Jackson, Office Mgr; M.J. Fisher, Service Mgr; and Justin Cole, Sales Mgr. They are all follow-through folks who get stuff done and are very accommodating. What a dream! The whole store is clean and spiffy (even the rest rooms) and makes us want to return. It pleases us greatly to do business with such folks. If you need some Honda 'toys,' stop by. They don't just handle motorcycles. You have OPTIONS. And, they have gear, too! What a 'candystore.' Finally, BVH is easy to find, being on the immediate W side of US580, only a short distance from downtown. They are close to the #14 city bus route (the stop is on Mill St between Kietzke Ln and US580). BVH is just a few blocks S on the W side of Market St -- very nice building! read more
