My wife and I have been doing business with Big Valley Honda (BVH) for several years, so we have 'history.' Because we live a long way away (out-of-State), they have stored our motorcycles for us there so we can fly in and ride them whenever we're able. Storing a Honda motorcycle with a Honda Dealer is as good as it can get. If the rig needs a tuneup or any other service, a phonecall or e-mail starts the process. Next step: Show up and ride -- no delay whatsoever. It is WONDERFUL. Our rigs are freshly clean, they run well, and our last trip was flawless -- same as the others. The Staff is very responsive to the customer. In fact, we think they should write the book on Customer Service. They do whatever it takes to please. The ones with whom we've interacted the most, at least recently, are Kathleen Jackson, Office Mgr; M.J. Fisher, Service Mgr; and Justin Cole, Sales Mgr. They are all follow-through folks who get stuff done and are very accommodating. What a dream! The whole store is clean and spiffy (even the rest rooms) and makes us want to return. It pleases us greatly to do business with such folks. If you need some Honda 'toys,' stop by. They don't just handle motorcycles. You have OPTIONS. And, they have gear, too! What a 'candystore.' Finally, BVH is easy to find, being on the immediate W side of US580, only a short distance from downtown. They are close to the #14 city bus route (the stop is on Mill St between Kietzke Ln and US580). BVH is just a few blocks S on the W side of Market St -- very nice building! read more

Big Valley Honda has always taken wonderful care of my family. We have purchased several dirt bikes from them over the past 15 years for both my son and husband. We turn to them for service on those same bikes, including services such as upgrading the suspension from their third party vendor. They are my first stop when shopping for gear and accessories. BVH has also been an incredible sponsor for our local Nevada All-State Trail Riders club, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and use of Nevada trails for equestrians. Their amazing and generous donation of a side-by-side unit to use for marking and unmarking the trails for our events has untold value to our club. I bought my new CRF450L here. Justin made it very simple. We did everything over text and with pictures of the required documentation. This was really convenient for me because I travel on business a lot. He told me the discount he would offer in advance and lived up to that offer. My husband and I just started riding so we have a lot of questions. We bought a 2004 Shadow and want to upgrade various parts of the bike. We have gone into BVH on three separate occasion only to be treated like we were a bother if we got helped at all. Their service department is fantastic. We pulled into Reno on a Friday afternoon with the oil pressure light wouldn't turn off. This was day one of a 16 day trip. We brought it into Big Valley Honda at 9 on a Saturday morning. The service rep explained that they'll try their best but that they usually don't do diagnostics or major repairs on weekends. An hour and a half later they told us the bike has been repaired, a shorted out sensor wire, and the total bill was $60. My son and I were able to catch up with the rest of the group later that afternoon. I would highly recommend this shop to everyone. read more

OK have had a really bad experience with these guys so far I may update the review if it turns out OK but I am doubtful. So my good friend bought a Honda side by side actually two of them a 750 he then returned for a 1000 because the 750 was underpowered. So spent lots of money the new one cost 20k which is insane to me but they like it for hunting and farming duties. The thing has 700 miles on it and only has a 1 year warranty so it will be out of warranty in two months and it stopped shifting and is no longer working. We took it to a local dealer a smaller place and they cannot fix it and have tired to get big valley there next step up to tell them what to do. So far the unit has sat there for 3 weeks broken and cant get callback form big valley Honda. This is not OK for a 20k machine the whole family missed a hunting trip because it was taken in two week early to get repaired and is still sitting there and now might miss the whole season. I call corporate for support and they seemed like they really didn't care got no good feeling from them at all. The only thing they said we could do was take it to the dealer and talk to them they offered very little help other then opening a case. So as it stands we have a 20k side by side off road vehicle less then a year old broken with no one able to fix and the warranty running out. This things has not been beat on by teenager it has been driven by adults and doing what it should do. We had a artic cat before this and it ran for 6 years great before they decided to upgrade and were told by friends that Honda was the best in terms of vehicles and service. Well our experience has been far from that and unless they make this right I would assume they treat all customers like this and just want your money and once your out the door they couldn't care a bit about you. Customer care and service has gone to crud over the years I advise anyone to do there research well before buying any big ticket items it seems as if very few call dealers and the like really care about repeat business. I hope they make this right I will update on what happens but be wary of them. read more

This review could just as easily have been a rant if not for Natasha Wells, the service writer. I recently took my Honda Rancher to the dealership for the addition of a winch and some aftermarket items -- just before the Labor Day weekend. Suffice it to say, the overall experience was a comedy of errors, and -- the Tuesday after Labor Day -- I told the woman on the service desk that I would be in on Wednesday to speak to the manager. When I arrived, Natasha intercepted me, told me she had heard about my troubles, and had intervened to make sure they were fixed. And they were fixed. All my anticipation of a confrontation went out the window. As I loaded my Rancher onto my trailer, I told Natasha that her intervention turned a grumpy customer into a satisfied customer, who would be back. Thank you, Natasha. read more

The staff here have always been helpful and friendly. My husband was looking for a used Honda motorcycle and the ones on the floor were not his style. The salesman took the time to talk to us and find out what we were looking for and it turned out he had something that had just been traded in that was waiting for service. We had to wait a little bit for the service to be completed but ended up with a bike we love without any hassles. Even financing was easy. It was such a pleasant experience after going to a different brand shop on South Virginia and dealing with a rude, non-interested salesman. read more

Their website invites you to setup a service appointment online. After three attempts to contact via website and email, I received no reply and gave up. Maybe I am being too critical, but if you create a web page to schedule service appointments, shouldn't somebody be monitoring web service requests and following up ? I can not comment about any other aspects of BVH, but will likely take my business elsewhere. read more

My fiance and I came to Big Valley Honda from California to look at their products and services. There was maybe 1 other customer at the time and what looked to be 3-4 men on staff at the time. So, we went about looking at bikes and helmets. We're new to riding, and there was a sign saying something about people talking to two staff members if they've always wanted to ride but didn't know much about riding. We looked at their small assortment of what looked to be all the more expensive brand helmets (compared to the Kawasaki store down the street) and small selection of jackets. They had a few bikes and a large selection of gloves. For that, I will give them the 1 star. However, not once were we ever approached by one of their staff members. Even after the other customer left, they seemed to be standing behind the counter talking to each other and acting like we weren't even there. It's sad because I know they noticed us, even after my fiance literally stood at the counter reading a sign, and they still didn't acknowledge him. Really such a waste of time. Maybe we didn't look like common riders or maybe they didn't think we were there to spend money but it definitely was a waste of time. We were definitely ready to spend thousands of dollars at this place and maybe a few bikes, but their customer service was so off-putting that I had to sign up for yelp just to write this. read more

Recently I just got back into biking and was in need of a helmet. I was hesitant of going to the dealership since I've always had bad experiences with dealerships. Big Valley Honda was a completely different experience! With the expertise of T, he spent quite a bit of time with me and found me the right helmet. T has been racing street bikes from the early 80's and he is a wealth of knowledge. There was no upsell here... just an interest in motorcycles and helping me find the right fit. I can also say the rest of the staff I met, Colton, Chad, and Bri were all very helpful and nice to deal with. I highly recommend this place if you want relaxed but professional service from guys who ride and care about you finding what you're looking for. read more

Went in to buy a quad for my wife and a bike for myself. After 20 minutes of looking around and waiting for some help nobody even recognized me. I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in the door and had 20k in 100$ bills and ready to buy. I was the only one in the store from what I can tell. Employees were talking about their weekend and when I Finnaly got tired of waiting I approched a guy in a qute honda shirt, I said excuse me, he looked up from his computer and looked back at the computer like I wasn't even there. I bought my 2006 VTX 1300 from Twin Falls, Idaho because they were $2500 LESS than BVH best price. SO I cannot speak to whether buying a bike is good, bad, or whatever. BUT... I have ordered parts and got service on my Honda there and can say, don't. Not if you like your ride. During a 5000 mile valve adjustment they fried my wiring. I had LED lights attached to the gas tank (of which they were informed) and a simple single disconnect for them. They ripped the tank off shorting the wires and frying a good chunk of my lighting and LED circuits. When I asked why they didn't do what EVERY service manual says first thing - disconnect the battery - they said no one ever does that! They argued, defended the stupidity of it all, and then tried to charge me for ruining my bike. I paid them parts only and have never been back. read more

Dishonest Dealer I brought my honda goldwing in for service Sep 2014. When I got my bike home I found gouges in the right saddle bag. I contacted they and they said they did not do it. The gouges were not there when I brought it in and were there when I got it back. They are declining all responsibility. They replaced the rear tire and brakes among other work. Do not take you bike here. I do not know if it fell of their jack or they dumped it but they did do damage and will not admit it. What else do they do wrong and hide. They should get zero stars but it will not let me. read more

UPDATE: I talked to the manager about the situation and he advised said they will fix an issue on my bike for free which saves me a pretty penny. Thanks to the manager, this review went from a 1 star to 4 stars Stay as far away from this place as you can. I was referred here by a friend who says they do a quick and great job. They did the exact opposite. I needed a 16000 mile inspection done. They Said that my bike would be done one day, then the next then it was done two days later than what it was originally said to be done. Don't promise someone their bike will be done by end of day Wednesday if I dropped it off in the morning(which I did) then get it to them on Friday. Plus they put parts on their that I didn't agree to without telling me but said it was okay because it was lower than my quoted price. So just because it's lower makes it automatically okay to put parts on without my consent? Not cool. I will never bring my bike here again and tell my fellow riders to do the same. I got the bike back and it was smoking they said the oil filter had a malfunction which is bullshit. So I drop it off at 11:40 and they gave me the bike back at 5:30. I called them out on not doing it first since they messed up on it already and they said they did. So it took you 5 hours to take the bike apart and change the filter and you say I'm a top priority. On Saturday May 19, 2012 My son and I went to BVH to get some information on the Honda ST1300, the VFR 1200, and the CBR1000. We entered the store around 1pm, we went to the area of the new bikes and began looking at the above mentioned bikes. We waited and waited and waited for a sales person or someone representing the store to contact us. I looked for a representative in the sales office and throughout the floor. We were wandering around the store for around 30-45 minutes. None of the staff even acknowledged our presence, or even said hello. I guess they don't want to sell bikes. I'll go to the Kawasaki dealer, at least they acted like they wanted our business. read more

I purchased a new 2016 Honda Pioneer from BVH that developed an intermittent fuel injection problem that caused the machine to surge after an extended climb. Even though I was well beyond the factory warranty, Layne, MJ and the service techs bent over backwards to track down the cause and get my machine fixed. It was a long and frustrating process but each time the problem resurfaced ( you couldn't make it happen and generate a code) I was received in the shop like a valued customer and was treated with the utmost respect. Layne went above and beyond and submitted the issue to Honda. They agreed to stand behind their machine and cover ALL associated costs! To add icing to the cake, Layne arranged to provide me with a loaner machine during my grandsons' deer hunt. I couldn't be more impressed with the old fashioned service I've received from everyone at BVH and Honda! I would suggest that if you have a beef with BVH, go down there and actually talk to someone face-to-face instead of bashing them on your keyboard. I think you'll be impressed and leave satisfied. read more

This review is for July 2013. Shop: I went to BVH to find a pair of (female) motorcycle gloves and a new helmet. I couldn't find anyone available to help me. They were seriously understaffed and limited in their selection of female riding gear. Service Department: I brought my bike into the service department to fix the constant backfiring I was experiencing. The young man that I talked to was rude, confrontational and didn't seem to care about me as a customer. He listed off a number of random things it "could be" and quote me exorbitant amounts to get my bike fixed. I made an appointment, but was so angry after leaving that I ended up going next door to Street Rider of Reno (to see if I could get an earlier appointment and better customer service). Happily, they delivered both. They were able to see me three weeks earlier than BVH. One of the mechanics came out and quickly diagnosed my vehicle and guided me through the best (and cheapest) options to fix my vehicle when he quoted me. They were very friendly and really seemed to care about me as a rider. BVH has permanently lost me as a customer. Street Rider has my highest recommendation; and gratitude for keeping me on the road during the summer riding season! read more

I wanted to buy a new dirt bike, I went in on a sat around 11 filled out the credit app and headed back to work, the salesman said he would call me in 15 mins to let me know what the bank said. That didn't happen I had to call him just to find out he didn't submit it, he said he would do it and call me in 15 mins that didn't happen again. I went down after work and tells me I'm good to go and I could pick the bike up Tuesday because he didn't have any built and it would take two hrs to get done. It was 4 pm I asked if they would have a guy stay an extra hr to build it he told me no. First off why didn't someone start building one when I was there at 11, second with how expensive dirt bikes are these days you would think they would stay one extra hr to finish the bike so they could make the sale but apparently they don't care about customer service. Ended up leaving and going to Reno KTM and bought a bike they were way more helpful. read more

I had some questions about getting a quad serviced, and was treated with obvious impatience. I was standoffishly told it would be three weeks and then was ignored. I knew from others in my company that it takes a while so I am not complaining about this detail (I understand your clearly under-staffed for your market which is probably a management problem and not the employee's fault). I was appalled at how ignorant the young lady and young man were. I asked questions about the "first come first serve Saturday" and it couldn't have been more obvious that I was an annoyance to them. This is the second time I have went in to this place and came out with nothing in my hands due to my own frustration with the arrogant employees. Advice to management: more mechanics and people who actually have a nice/helpful personality (or at least can fake it). As an consulting recon geologist, I spend a lot of time on my quad. I can't imagine you will perform well long term when you push your customers away to competing business. This time it was a servicing, but there are plenty of other places to buy my next ATV. read more

Took my bike down to get the brake lights fixed on 06/02, they said they wouldn't be able to look at until the end of the week the following week. I called Friday, 06/10, and Saturday 06/11, which I never received a call back. Finally get a return phone call on 06/13/2016, come to find out my bike was stolen Thursday 06/09 night. No on bothered to call me and inform me of this. The bike was worth more than it will blue book for, has brand new tires and extras. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! I have already contacted an attorney and will be going further with action. read more

I bought a used Honda from BVH and at the time it had a ticking noise which I understood to be normal for these bikes. The bike ran great until one day it developed a grinding noise. I took it to BVH to be serviced and come to find out their was a small piece of metal from an old dipstick that had wiped out the bottom end, A couple thousand dollars later, my bike was fixed. I was then told that this was a common problem with these bilkes and the dipstick should have been replaced with a plastic one (it wasn't, it had a metal one). Also the ticking noise wasn't considered normal and indicated a problem with the clutch pack. My issue is that if they, the dealer, knew there was problem with the metal dipsticks (there apparently was a service bulliten issued by Honda) why did they not check to see if the dipstick had been replaced before it was sold (I would have even paid for it). Also I was not informed to the possibility of a major problem by the saleman due to this design flaw nor were they honest about the clutch noise. I probably would have still bought the bike, I just wouldn't have paid as much for it. I tried contacting them about the issues, but I couldn't get any kind of response. For a dealer selling a specialized product, their customer service is deplorable. read more
