Yelp, ya did me right. Stopped at Big Wally's for a cheesesteak and an egg sandwich during this quarantine and the place is rocking. No entry but their staff is coming out taking orders at cars and delivering to cars phone orders. Both sandwiches were among the best we've had and I can understand why. Ordered half Italian and it tasted great. The only thing is the bread was a little hard on the outside. Overall it was a good sandwich. Plenty of meat anf it was priced right at $7.50. I used to live in this area all my life, and I have no idea how I never knew about this place! Now that I know about it, it is my go-to every time I need a sub. To start off they have the best service, friendly people working extremely hard (yes they are always busy every time I go there!). They pretty much can customize any sand which but they have hundreds of different sandwich options. Within a few minutes you have a great sandwich. 5 stars all around for this place, and looking forward to doing a catering order from here soon as well! read more

Quite disappointed today... Ordered a He-Man Sub with $3 for extra meat.. but I got a Girlie-Man... Paper thin layer of pepperoni.. only standard? level of beautiful roast beef... Where's the "extra meat"... didn't even get a solid amount of lettuce, tomatoes and onions... surely not with extra vinegar requested... Sure it was an hour before closing and many customers in and out. Sounded like they might have a new kid making sandwiches. May have been tired. Three stars thanks to their bakery, best bread ever. When you walk in you wonder why your friends say this place is so amazing. I give myself an extra 10 minutes just to pick a sub because the options seem unlimited! Every time I go I try to get a new sun and everyone I have gotten has been a 100/10. The quality is through the roof and so is the consistency. After you pick your sub make sure you purchase a couple brownies because just like their subs they are through the roof!! I love Big Wally's. I have been going to this place for over 20 years. He's got a large selection of Subs and they are not cheap on the meat. It's small inside but everything is Delicious. Prices are reasonable and they are very nice people there. I would recommend anyone to try any of their wife selections of subs. You won't be disappointed. They make awesome breakfast and lunch sandwiches. We have ordered catering from them as well, the 6 footer was fresh and HUGE. The biggest problem is they are a bit of a disaster in their organizational structure, I used to walk in and order and sometimes I would have to wait 20-30 minutes for 2 or 3 sandwiches. Now I call ahead or the day before and order a sandwich for before I really need it. For instance if I know I need a few sandwiches by 1pm I call and ask for them to be ready for 12:30. I usually wait until at least a second or third trip before I write up a local establishment, but it's pretty obvious that Big Wally's has something good going on here. If there's one thing you can rely on finding in Jersey, it's a decent sub. But rarely do you come across a sub shop that really stands out from the rest. Big Wally's definitely stands out, quickly joining the ranks of my other personal favorites, which include Carluccio's of Marlboro and Defonte's of Brooklyn. Sayreville should be proud. If you're a first timer like I was the other day, you might want to read the menu in advance. Upon walking in, I was immediately seized with information overload. In addition to the big board menu that hangs above the counter, there are sandwich options written across all of the walls in every direction. Things are moving so fast and furiously inside, you might find yourself being asked to order before you've even finished taking the whole scene in. As for the subs themselves, I went with a half "Big Wac." This is Big Wally's version of a cheesesteak Big Mac, complete with pickles, fried onions, thousand island dressing, lettuce and tomato. Talk about a mess to eat, my god. I must have went through 1,000 napkins to polish this thing off. While I was definitely impressed with both the speed with which my sandwich was made, as well as the quality and quantity of the ingredients, this particular combination is just a little too much in terms of competing flavors. When I'm eating a cheesesteak, I want it to taste like I'm eating a cheesesteak. But by the time you pile on all these extra ingredients you all but drown out the taste of the steak inside. My bad. I panicked and ordered the first thing I saw. In reading through the full menu, however, I could see this kind of thing happening with a lot of their subs. I'm not really sure that if you're eating sliced London Broil on a sub, that you really need a layer of pork roll on there too (the "Blade"). Same goes for mixing grilled chicken with London Broil (the "Vac Attack.") But good news if you're like me and like to keep things simple -- Big Wally's has all the classic standards you've come to expect in a sub shop. In fact, I can't think of any combination you couldn't manage to create here, because Big Wally's pretty much has something for everyone -- vegetarians included. I will be back, without a doubt. Only this time I will plan ahead and maybe bring a few of the boys with me so we can try a few different sandwiches in one sitting. If you haven't been to Big Wally's and consider yourself a sub connoisseur or just love a great sandwich, definitely bookmark this place. As many reviewers have said, you won't find a better bang for your buck. And be sure to bring bucks with you, because Big Wally's is a cash only establishment. read more

I've been to Wally's a few times and I must say they never disappoint. This place makes excellent subs. They have a dozens of different subs and each name is unique and some are quite funny. The staff is very friendly and ordering is fast and easy. The wait time, pending on how big your sub is, can vary but is usually very fast.
