Food was the best hotpot I've had!! I love the self serve and different soup base. The people serving us were very helpful and friendly. The place is small and was kinda warm when we got there mainly because of the amount of people there.

I walked in thinking fast food hot pot and it is right on cue. For about $20, the raw ingredients and taste is really good. Note that you are more or less out in 30min. As you expect, what ever you picked is just blanched with very hot umami/msg soup. It is more of less cafeteria service but the team was smart enough to give a free matcha soft serve to signal times up. The staff is friendly. Ambience is good, esp if you like the buzz. Don't go if you want to hang out. It is not McDonalds at all. For about $20, it is not bad as things are pretty expensive in Vancouver these days. However, this cannot compete for a good bowl of ramen, noodles or udon. You get more food though. Overall, no problem returning, by the way, the line is so long that you absolutely need to register before hand on the website/app at least for now Food highlights: Tomato broth - tasty but you need to prepare for the salt and umami afterwards Raw ingredients - picked different hot pot meats and they are all decent quality. Vegetable is fresh and the volume is very high Soft serve - a bit icy so probably light on cream and high in water (may be just skim milk...)

A fun dining experience where you pay by weight. I like the combo with drink and dessert. Ingredients are fresh and well organized.

We got there as soon as it was opened. The servers were very friendly. I asked for an option that didn't have peanut and they recommended one. Then they went to the back to get us sauces that were right from the container to reduce cross contamination. The ingredients were very fresh and tons of choices and options. The place is also very clean. Would come back to this location again.

Very crowded and not particularly clean. No alcohol served. Good thing is that you can use their online line up system to get your spot before you arrive... Select and pay for your own pot for good for splitting bills.

Love this place. I've never been to the other ones, but this one is super walkable and isn't too chaotic with the wait. Pros: - There's an online link on the website and a QR code by the front door that lets you join the waitlist online. Super handy - ingredients are always being replenished and fresh - service is really attentive - plenty of sauces and condiments to choose from in the back - broth options are super flavorful. They don't skimp - free mini soft serve cone with rotating flavors after diner Notes: - seating is a little tight, especially the tables by where the customers lineup for ingredients - metered parking on 41st Ave and free in the inside residential streets

My first time at big way and I was so excited to try as a hot pot lover! Came on a Thursday at 5 and it was surprisingly busy, but did not have to wait for a table. Each bowl is individualized, so you begin by choosing toppings buffet-style for your own bowl. There is a large variety of meat, seafood, veggies, and noodles to choose from. Payment is then determined by weight. I got the Sa Cha broth, which is described as more savory. It was absolutely delicious. It's also important to make a sauce on the side to dunk your toppings into as well! I think for the price, it is a good deal and fun spot to hit with friends. It is easy to keep your meal under $20 (mine came out to around $16) and it's still very filling. While of course it is not the highest quality of meat, this is to be expected as by the price point.

So so yummy! This definitely satisfied my hot pot cravings! A self-service hot pot destination that charges you by weight. We have been to other Big Way locations, but this was our first time at this one. Exclusively street parking; no parking lot. I was disappointed that this location had some slightly different options for add-ons and did not have Udon noodles. We went around midnight and the place was moderately packed - but there was a table big enough for our party of five. We were instructed to grab a bowl and tongs to grab items from the wall (it looked very similar to a grocery store produce display). The items in my bowl brought my price to a total of 29.85 CAD. I chose the Miso Broth with mild spice. Everything came out looking great! There was also a self-serve sauce bar by the registers. Because of how small the space was, it seemed a little crowded, but the staff organizes and assigns a table for you while you are creating your bowl. Great service from attentive staff who brought our cooked bowls out to our table. When we were done eating, they brought everyone a little ice cream cone too! Big Way is always the highlight of my Canada trip and I can't wait to be back!

I love coming to big way locations but this location is prob my fav because the service has been especially good. Sonia was super helpful with seating us at a table and she provides excellent service everytime! The food is excellent and the environment is good. Bust downnnnn

Our first (and came back for seconds) meal in Vancouver and this hits the spot. The fresh ingredients is a feast for the eyes and the malatang and miso soup were perfect. Even our Japanese friend stated "oishi" only caution, put less ingredients than what you want as it's hard to finish the food.

This was the perfect place post-Ironman triathlon for my bf to really fill up! He ended up grabbing so many ingredients that the server had to bring his soup to him in TWO BOWLS. I too was overzealous and was only able to finish half of my hot pot. The endless amount of veggies, mushrooms and plant-forward protiens available made it all too easy to pick too many ingredients. The restaurant is pretty big and they have some big tables but all the tables had only one pot hot pot which makes it hard for people to eat. I wish they had multiple pots for bigger tables so that it was inconvenient. Other than that, their service was pretty good and they also had a really good AYCE deal for $39/pp! We got their two flavour soup base - spicy beef and tomato soup base. Their meats and veggies were all fresh! They had a massive self-serve bar with sauces, tofu, fried chicken (which was delicious), noodles, bean curd, and other items. It was a good selection! You also get dessert in the AYCE menu with two options - vanilla ice cream and coffee pudding. I got their coffee pudding which was not bad, but it tasted AMAZING when mixed with the vanilla ice cream so I would definitely recommend that.

After reviewing it and realizing she was wrong, she simply blamed her coworker and didn't offer a single word of apology for her behavior. Beyond the attitude, the food quality is a bait-and-switch. The first batch of meat was okay, but every round after that was inedible, greasy fat. They take forever to serve you because they are too busy fighting with customers. The place isn't too busy at late night, but with steady business. Everything is pretty Big Way standard, with the same selection of food and sauce bar. The quality of meat however isn't the best. The beef roll is way too fat with barely any lean meat on it. The sauce bar is also a little dirty compare to the Richmond location. But it was cleaned shortly after. But in other parts of the world the meal is what's important and so is a quick turn around. Guu with Garlic reminded me a lot of the Izakaya restaurants I found under the train lines of Tokyo in many ways, including the amount of time it felt right to stay. The food came out quick, the servers took orders quicker, and the alcohol came out chilled and as nice contrast to the hot food. Looking around and you see the hand written menu on blackboard surfaces on the walls and this feeling of authenticity. The heat of the flames from the kitchen can be felt and seen if you sit at the bar. And the flavors just hit all the right notes. Starting with appetizers, a section izakayas shine at, the first dish we got was their scallop and mayo pizza. With a crispy crunch on the bottom and crust, this reminds you of the flavors of a baked volcano roll or scallop roll you can find in almost any North American sushi restaurant. Just like that dish, it's important to eat it while it's still hot so it doesn't get gross and 느끼 에. Then came the yellowtail tuna "tempura" pieces. Thick pieces of yellowtail tuna flash fried for just the right crisp on the outside with slight pink of the fish inside. It is meaty without being oily or fatty. Great bite. The beef tongue after was interesting. From the color of the sauce it accompanies it you would think it would be heavy in flavor but it is actually light and citrusy. A good cut into the richer tones of the beef tongue. The yaki udon was one of the best I ever had. It was smokey without being overpowering. The beef was thin and tender and balanced well with the mushrooms it also came with. The udon noodles stayed bouncy and chewy which I didn't expect from being grilled. Very tasty and highly recommend this dish. For our final bite we shared a hot stone bowl of their pork and cabbage rice. With the hot stone bowl constantly cooking even after this dish arrived it was imperative to stir the ingredients together constantly for the first two minutes. It allowed for the runny egg to meld with the rice and the crispy texture of some ingredients was a nice bonus. All in all, I loved eating here and if my appetite was bigger I would've tried more on their menu. A solid place to eat with a great atmosphere, if you're looking for delicious food that won't take too much of your time but still lingers in your memories you have to check out Guu with Garlic.

My fellow Yelpers raved about this place when I first moved here, and my kid came here with her school pals 5-6 years ago and also raved about the wings. It's been on my list to come here forever - and last night, finally, I did. It did not disappoint. My kid warned me, there'll probably be a line up waiting to get in (they don't take reservations here. I checked), so we decided to go at an off-time and get an early dinner, around 5pm on Friday. We walked there and, miracle of miracle, there was no line and we got seated right away. (Granted, we got the last vacant table in the place, and when we left after our meal, there already was a line of people waiting to get in). Food-wise...wow. I am NOT one for adventurous eating, so there were dishes on the menu I couldn't comfortably order (I wish I could, but hey, I'm better now than I used to be!). Still, there was lots for me to choose from. And first and foremost, I HAD to try the famous chicken wings. And I can honestly say, they were the best I've ever had: SO SO crunchy and crispy on the outside, and hot and moist on the inside. OMG so so so good. I can't speak highly enough of these! My kid ordered the butter beef. It was tasty and soft ("like butta!"), and the marinade was lovely, but personally, I couldn't get over the...rawness and redness of the meat and juice (which looked like blood to me). For fellow non-adventurous eaters out there, this might not be for you, despite how flavorful it tasted. It was just hard for me to get over how it looked. (I know I'm in a minority here. This dish is one of their most popular and asked-for dishes). We had the garlic dry spare ribs. I love spareribs. These were delicious but a tad too salty and greasy. I brought most of them home and had them today for lunch. I gotta say, they were so much better for me today: less salty, and I blotted off the excess grease. Delicious! My kid ordered a "small" sweet and sour soup with prawns, and wow, it came in a huge black cauldren. I can't imagine ordering a large size. Anyhow, this soup was a stand-out soup - especially for my kid who said she had dreams about it all night (lol)! So complex in flavors - spicy, sweet, savory, chock full of prawns and sprouts and lotus shoots and pineapple chunks and and other delicious stuff.... For me, it was a wee tad too spicy, but wow, even I thought, this is a special soup. So delicious and warming. 10/10. Our servers were prompt and impressively able to efficiently tend to a full house of diners. They got it all down to a science here. One issue of note: my kid had to use the washroom at one point and she left for a very extended period of time. I actually thought at one point that something had happened to her or she was ill, she was gone so long (VERY unlike her). When she returned, she told me it was "quite a hike", around the back of the restaurant and up a flight of stairs, too. I only make note of this in case anyone has mobility issues, know that the bathroom will be difficult (or impossible) for you to access.

We came around 4pm so there was no wait but by the time we left at like 5 there was already a line forming outside. We got the wings and veggie fried rice, and it took a bit of time for the food to come out but that didn't bother us. The portion for the fried rice was MASSIVE and could easily feed 3-4 people. It was good, nothing to standout but a very good classic fried rice. The wings came out after and were hot and crispy. It comes with a lemon pepper sauce on the side, which was super lemony - great if you like that but I wasn't too big a fan of it. The wings were juicy and fresh, though I will say I did expect a bit more flavor. There was only one piece at the bottom that had a generous coat of the seasoning which I thought was super tasty. Overall, good spot! I'm not sure I'd wait super long for it, but glad I got to try.
