Bbq beef plate was just shaved beef with lettuce and tomato. $11. My $16 club was decent. Turkey tasted like deli meat. Children's chicken finger plate was $8 and he got one singular chicken finger. I know sometimes they go off weight but that was a little absurd. Overall, we would not travel off of 75 to return here but if you're in the area I think it could be worth another try. read more

I've lived in Lakr City all my life and been a fan of Kens for years. When family came in town of course we thought of Kens for our big get together. When ordering We were disappointed to find out there's no family meal deal. We ordered, were not provided a price. we were very disappointed with the quantity of food received for the 130.00 that was charged. Im unable to post the picture of the food but, we received 1 Togo container of sliced pork (not completely full) 1 Togo container of ribs 2 containers each of slaw and bean 2 single servings of fries 2 gallons of tea. I'm beyond disappointed in Kens and embarrassed that half the family had to eat elsewhere. read more

My oh my was dining here such a pleasant experience! The service was excellent and the food was DELICIOUS! And it came to the table quickly while the restaurant was about 3/4 full! My table ordered two appetizers: fried okra and onion rings. I am not a fan of okra...ever. THIS okra, however, was actually more than tolerable. I found myself going back for more. The onion rings were also tasty and not a pain to eat as the onion didn't slip out with the first bite. For my entree, I ordered the fried catfish with tartar sauce and a side of coleslaw. The catfish was fried to perfection. Seriously. So tender. And the tartar sauce was bangin'! The coleslaw was a little on the sweet side, but that's how it's preferred by many. Another BBQ place that I have frequented since I was a child. There are three locations in Lake City only, from my understanding. And, most of those locations have been around for more than 30 years. So, next time you are driving down I-75 and are in the mood for some good saucy BBQ, give them a try. The location is right off of 441, and there is another location off of 90. Ken's original house BBQ sauce is a distinct mustard/vinegar sauce that no one else has yet to match. It is not labelled as a mustard sauce, so don't get it twisted. Seriously, it is the best BBQ sauce that I have ever had in my life. They still have yet to bottle and sell it. However, you can purchase it there and they will give you a large Styrofoam cup of it. It is great on anything, even just on some toast, but it pairs best with their smoked chicken. They have plenty of great items, but their best item is the smoked chicken. The skin is flavorful and sweet, and the chicken is tender and smoked for a long time so most of the fat has melted away. Don't be one of those losers that just orders white meat, that is lame. Get a half bird, cover it in sauce and enjoy. The only sides that I recommend are the fries and the garlic bread. Everything else is so-so. Don't forget some sweet tea. The last interesting thing about Ken's is that they make their own mayo, and it comes in a squeeze bottle just like the BBQ sauce. My family members have been known to tear up a ton of BBQ chicken on AUCE night and most of it covered in that mayo. To each their own, right? read more

We checked to see if they were open and it clearly showed they were open on Saturday from 11:00am to 9:00pm. We've never tried it so we thought we would give it a try. We drove across town to find they were closed on a Saturday evening. It was about 4:30. A small sign on the door saying they are closed at 3:00 pm. 11-3 on a Saturday? We have enjoyed Ken's primarily the US 90s location for the last 25 years. A few months ago we noticed the prices had jumped such that dinner was now more than several of the chain restaurants by the interstate. The food is good and the service by friends over the years stellar so we continued to patronize Ken's. Today we stopped at the St Margaret's location. When asked for a package price on my choice the waitress told me no can do and shame on the US 90s folks. When she returned she promised to call the manager and asked for a name! No way was I going to give up a friend! My girl was distraught at the waitress's tactics and we will take our business elsewhere. We did notice the potato salad was watery and the beef more fatty than normal. Higher prices and lower quality food - not the Ken's we used to know and love! read more

KEN'S BBQ: I have eaten a lot of bar-b-que over the years and I guess I'm lucky because I don't think I've ever had any "bad" bar-b-que! But Ken's is #1 on my list. There are things that make certain BBQ restaurants stand out for me, for instance: Restaurants that have personable and efficient staff; Employees that actually remember you and bother to know your name; Recipes that make for that consistent taste and flavor that keep you coming back for more. But most of all, I love that you see the owner and their family on the floor, with rolled up sleeves serving, busing tables, cashiering and working along side their employees to accomplish the job at hand. It speaks volumes about the values and commitment of the owners. Also, ALL THE FOOD IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS! Dine in or take out! Barbecue chicken was dry as a bone, ribs were burnt even the French fries. When your fourteen year old chicken eating from anywhere kid can't finish his chicken tender sandwich it should have told me something but instead we finished our prison barbecue, paid and will never return. We tried to mention that it was bad and was given the did you tell your server remark. Our fault for not speaking up I guess but really expected much better from something that use to be a good staple in our town. Actually signed up for Yelp just so I could post a review for others as we walked away feeling robbed of $65 bucks. Horrible customer service at the TO GO window. She was rude and not helpful. I informed her that we had never eaten there and she seemed to have an attitude about it. Wasn't helpful with assisting in my order. After I ordered I had a question for her. See seemed annoyed that I had a question. When I got my food I asked if there was any BBQ sauce and in a snippy reply she said you didn't ask for it. Not sure If she didn't like having a black person at her window or just having a bad day. This place was recommended to us, so we thought we'd try it out. The food was delicious, and the portions sizes were pretty big. The prices were a little high but not terribly unreasonable. The smoked bbq pork had great flavor and was nice and tender. The coleslaw was tasty, and the sweet potato fries were hot and well done. Just OK Saw some positive reviews about Ken's as we were traveling on I-75. Always on the lookout for a good barbecue restaurant, we decided to give it a try. The look of the place, the menu offerings and the quality of the food was kind of like Sonny's Barbecue, but not quite as good--sort of a Sonny's light. Most everything was fine, nothing was particularly memorable. Service was pleasant enough but not very organized. Prices were fair. Best barbecue in town! They have really good sweet tea and really good pulled pork.

I ordered the combination dinner to go. The chicken was very pale looking, so upon pulling it apart, the main vein in the thigh had blood coming out of it. Definitely not done. The ribs I received in my a order were 2 very small ones and a small end cut. They were dried out like jerky to the point of being inedible. The side of okra was so greasy. I had to pour it out on a paper towel so it would soak up the grease. It was very disgusting to say the least. read more
