Atmosphere - The restaurant has a stark feeling. The dining areas are chopped up into different pieces. The booths are made on wood and are extremely hard. Service - our server was very good. She was pleasant and attentive. Food - I ordered a cup of chicken and rice soup and a chef salad. The soup was very bland and there was very little chicken. The chef salad is offered in half and full size portions. I ordered the full size and it was huge! The picture does not do justice to the size and the generous amount of protein and other toppings. It was very good. Overall Value - This seems to be the only true restaurant in the area (every else is pretty much fast food). We stopped for dinner on Friday night and found it to be fairly empty so we were seated quickly. Rustic atmosphere with exposed pipes, etc. the seating is extremely uncomfortable as they are hard wooden benches. It was good we got in and out so quickly because I couldn't have sat there much longer. Our server Emily was very good. The menu has lots of options so there is something for everyone. I settled on the Italian melt with a side of Chicken and Rice soup. The soup arrived in minutes and was very hot. It was basically a bowl of rice in a broth. Very little chicken and not much flavor. The sandwich followed quickly after that. The combination of the meats and cheese on grilled bread was good and I particularly liked the marinara on the side. This place is cute and our server Debbi was great. Good recommendations and the food was tasty. Soups made in house loaded potato was great very creamy and full of potatoes. Nice place in Live Oak that always looks busy when we pass by. The restaurant itself takes up the corner of a large strip mall that has a decent amount of available parking. Two stories of wood and black iron make up this cozy place that can get rather loud due to the openness of the building. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly during a busy lunch service. Our waitress was very friendly and had our drinks on the table not too long after we sat down. My husband enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich and side of garlic home fries. My grilled ham and turkey with bacon was good, but unfortunately, the bottom slice of the toasted bread was soggy as it soaked up all the juice from the meat. The seasoned french fries were delicious and we both left feeling content and full. I'd definitely go back again with the idea of avoiding grilled bread and trying a wrap instead. read more

Great service.... I wanted the food to be good so bad!! Went with the biggest steak they had! Flat top cooked steak (ribeye), terrible cut of meat, full of gristle and I'm not sure they even seasoned it. Ran out of vegetables, settled for corn. Very disappointed....now to find another place to eat. P.S.- spend the money on better cuts of meat, your customers would rather pay more for quality than be disappointed with the meal. read more

Although it was very loud and a server dropped a tray which made a very loud unsettling noise, the service was excellent. The portion size was real good. This is probably our favorite place to eat in Live Oak. The food is always good, fresh, and they give you decent sized servings for the price. And for those of you who love a ranch dressing, especially for dipping French fries, their ranch dressing is delicious. The service has always been good and I literally have no complaints. We had our waiter "Jessica34" walk off with our debit card from the front register where we were to pay our bill. She disappeared for quite a few minutes where we could not see what she was doing. Got home checked account and noticed two new charges made around the same time on the afternoon we ate at The Gathering Live Oak. There was an "unauthorized" subscription for a monthly weight loss program charged and also another charge for my restaurant bill. Called the manager "Tim" explained what I had discovered, only for him to completely deny it happened and very rudely and disrespectfully put the phone down on me. Be careful of using a debit/credit card at The Gathering, we went for the 1st time and had our card compromised by the waitress. Instead of charging our card up front at the register she disappeared into the back with our card. Later on that afternoon after our lunch we checked our banking account and noticed a charge fir a subscription to a weight loss company that we did not authorize. Phoned and spoked with Manager Tim, he denied his waitress would do such a thing and out the phone down on us, very disappointing and no manners to try and fix the problem he has with this waitress and the name of the restaurant read more
