Last night was an unbelievable dinner at Bigfire. We had the bread service with the herb butter and apricot jam. We dined on the vegan mushroom dish as well as the risotto and Mac and cheese. I got the vegan dish and an apple martini. The vegan mushroom dish had layers of flavor and was very yummy. My friend Chris did the steak and the risotto. Our server was Josh and he was fantastic! Bigfire serves up American food in a slightly fancier way. It's located in City Walk at Universal Orlando. Bonus is you can make reservations for this restaurant! I've been here twice and it can get packed so the reservation is the key here. Service has been pretty good on our visits. The restaurant itself is large and open. You can walk by and see the hard work going on in the kitchen which is pretty cool! Food wise, I have had the bison burger and the salmon sandwich. I preferred the flavors of the burger more than the salmon. The salmon was also hard to eat and it fell apart. I ended up eating most with a fork and knife. Drinks are pricey but there is a lot of selection to choose from. My friend who I was with appreciated the selection of bourbon! I would bathe in the mussels sauce. I love mussels and the smell of these caught my attention as we walked to our table and they did not disappoint. I think by the end of it I was drinking the sauce. For the meal I got a pork chop and my husband got the ribeye. The protein was cooked perfectly. The sides on the pork were ok but I could've done with a different pairing. The food was pretty good. Please keep in mind we didn't have any of the main dishes and just ordered sides. With that being said, the portions were very generous. I had the pork Mac n cheese and it was good. The only thing that threw me off was that the pork had bbq sauce and I'm not a fan of the sweet and savory combination. The mac n cheese was good but I did have to add salt and it was a little runnier than I'm used to for Mac n cheese. The loaded fries were really, REALLY good!! I thought it would be similar to the Ale House but definitely not. It had 2 types of cheese, hearty pieces of bacon and sour cream. Our waitress, Iliana, was awesome! No complaints about the service she provided. The kitchen did take a while to prepare our order though. I was getting a bit antsy because I was starving! It was my first time there so I'm not sure if that's their usual turnaround time, could've just been a fluke because of the holidays. This is one of the more expensive restaurants in universal city walk. But if you want a nice place and are not on a budget then this is a great place. We ordered the bread which is a whole loaf. It comes with a peach jam which I thought was very good. I ordered the wedge salad with the half New York steak. The lettuce was some kind of miniature iceberg which I did not find that tasty but the steak was great. I wish I had just ordered the steak. The wife ordered the filet she said it was good but I always question that because she has to have no pink so it has to be very dry but she likes it. The atmosphere was great and very upscale. The water was very attractive and nice. I am sure I would have given it 5 stars if I had just gotten the steak. . read more

Sent two steaks back due to the steaks not being what we ordered (medium rare). First being too done, second too rare. Would have sent the third steak back for being too rare again but didn't want to cause a scene only gave one star back because they did take it off the check. I didn't get why a steak place couldn't get a steak right until I saw that they actually cook the steaks over fire, which probably leads to some quality control issues. Regardless, just be aware that the steaks may not be done to your exact liking. read more

We read very mixed reviews about Bigfire but decided to go anyways. The result? 10/10. Literally no complaints. The food was absolutely fantastic - we had the fondue appetizer (added sausage), & 2 filets with truffle butter along with cocktails. The filets were cooked & seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend adding the truffle butter. The service was also absolutely spectacular. From our table we could watch the giant fire "pits" sear the steaks. We'll definitely be back! read more

Bigfire was very delicious. We started with an order of the brussels sprouts and bread service, which were great as starters. The chicken sandwich was excellent, my wife enjoyed the shrimp, and while the kids steak was TINY (basically a steak nugget) it was genuinely delicious (we had to order another one). The only downside was the service speed. I don't know if it had to do with the fact that we sat outside, but it was so slow that we basically opted to skip dessert and went elsewhere in CityWalk just so we could get up already. I'd still give them another chance because the food and atmosphere was great, just wish the service kept pace! read more

We had the appetizer- fondue cheese which was pretty decent. It came with 2 little breads to dip, some jalapeños, baby potatoes, 3 asparagus and I believe okra. This was the only thing that was decent. We ordered the wagyu rib eye and it came with asparagus and cheesy gratin potatoes. Potatoes were good but the steak was horrible. Had a weird after taste and did not taste or look like wagyu ribeye steak. Almost positive they just gave a regular boneless ribeye and charged double the price for it. I had the scallops with the popcorn risotto. The scallops were very grainy so they were not cooked very well. Also, they add on an automatic 18% gratuity even though we were only two people dining. Which we don't mind tipping 20% usually but adding it on the bill automatically doesn't make me want to leave any tip at all considering that in Florida automatic gratuity must be stated on the menu and that was not listed at all on the menu and we were not a party of 6 or more per their own menu. Would not recommend as it is one of the pricier restaurants in universal city walk and yet it is the worst quality food and worst tasting out of all the restaurants we been too. Try any other place in the city walk strip if you are visiting. read more

A very cool atmosphere but has really gone downhill since the 2020 pandemic. Food (3/5): There was a time when I would have rated this a 5/5. Unfortunately, that time has passed. While the wood-fire grill adds some great flavor to the meat, this place has been hit hard with shrinkflation. With that, the quality has slipped a little as well. Service (5/5): Like all restaurants on City Walk, I would highly recommend getting a reservation. Also, make sure your entire party is present when you check-in. I have always been seated pretty close to my reservation time. The staff is always friendly and they are very knowledgeable about the menu. They will make quality recommendations if you are having trouble deciding between a few things. Price (2/5): Here is where the shrinkflation hurts. You are paying prices close to a nice steakhouse. However, the quality is closer to Outback Steakhouse. Yes, you are paying more because you are at Universal Studios. We had a reservation for 3 people at 5pm on a Saturday night. Upon arriving we walked up to the outside host stand to check in and proceeded to be ignored for almost 10 minutes while the host kept speaking into her head set about a specific table being cleaned. We waited patiently for awhile and then when we were finally acknowledged she told us we couldn't be seated because only 2 out of our party of 3 was here. Our 3rd guest was in security on their way but we already knew what we were ordering and wanted to get seated. We were planning to go to HHN and didn't want to wait to order. We told her we would just go somewhere else and she then said she'd call the manager to ask permission to seat us. He came out and never spoke to us. We then were ushered inside to speak to the next set of hosts where we thought we'd be seared but they gave us the same answer that we were on hold. At this time the restaurant was completely dead so it didn't make sense we could sit down. Finally after asking again they sat us all the way upstairs in the corner. Very few tables even seated in the restaurant. The menu had changed slightly since we had been here. The steak now comes with au gratin potatoes and a "garnish" of asparagus. The menu doesn't state it's a garnish but when I asked to change sides that's what was told. The steak also came with an oily sauce on it that completely ruined it in my opinion. The bourbon fondue was good but they did change the dippers from the last time we were here which was disappointing. Over all I felt that this location has gone down hill since it first opened lack of communication with staff, changes in the menu and clearly an empty restaurant. We used to love this place but it isn't the same quality as it once was. The biggest issue I had was the lack of communication with hosts. Food: we ordered the cheese fondue which was absolutely to die for. Their grilled veggies are very delicious. I ordered the elk sloppy joe which the meat was very delicious however the bread had a chemical taste, and the onion rings were cold, thick and soggy. The bacon Mac and cheese had potential, but nothing that gave it a wow factor. Unfortunately everything came out cold. Service: we had Tabitha who was a great server! Very attentive. Ambiance: we went around 5PM and was sat in the second floor which was nice and quiet until more guests came. The sun was also beating down in the windows. My daughter wanted to try this place for a while so I made reservations I have to say I was worried this would be theme park food quality at theme park prices. First you enter and extremely beautiful building the is so clean it shines! The staff was bright and happy and made us feel welcomed. Our server was at our table in a short time followed by more wonderful service! We started with the Brussels sprouts which were to die for. Let me repeat you have NEVER eaten better Brussels sprouts than these. I could have made a meal of these! The menu has several items for you to choose and not too many. . Next came our entrees. My daughter had the cheese burger and it was cooked to perfection! I had the Cobb salad. It was a typical Cobb salad but was crisp and fresh. Bigfire has become one of my favorite restaurants in Citywalk. The mussels are some of my favorite of all time. Full stop. My goodness they are addictive. The steaks are great as you might expect, but it's not all they do well. It's a very cool experience to walk in and see the actual fire they are cooking over. Mg family and I had a great time at Big Fire. Started with the Bourbon cheerse fondue which was quite good. I got the Beer Can Chicken which was a huge portion and delicious. Note that it comes over Brunswick stew which has pork in it. Fortunately I don't mind eating pork, but I can see somebody being surprised. Someone in my part got the cauliflower steak. Know that is is pretty much just grilled cauliflower. We were expecting it to be more marinated and it really wasn't. The steak, burger, and Fries were also all delicious. The service was quick. We made a reservation at this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday after seeing an advertisement while staying at one of the Universal resorts. We arrived about ten minutes early for our reservation. It happened to be a cold night for Orlando, around 45 degrees, and we were seated in the bar area right by the outdoor entrance. We did not requested bar seating and didn't realize we wouldn't be in the main dining room. With guests frequently coming and going through the bar door, it was quite chilly and very uncomfortable throughout our meal. Our server was also the bartender, who was managing a full bar in addition to serving tables. He did his best under the circumstances, but service was understandably slow. After being told there was an hour and a half wait at Toothsome Emporium, we were so grateful to be seated right away here after a long park day! The restaurant is huge and has lots of tables. I saw some people complaining about smoke in other reviews, but we sat upstairs and there was none of that! If you're sensitive to that, maybe ask for upstairs seating?? I tried the raspberry lemonade cocktail. You really couldn't taste the alcohol at all, so a good option if you like a sweet/tart drink. We shared the cheese fondue as an app and really enjoyed it! It comes with lots of dipping options. My favs were the shishito peppers and cauliflower. For my entree, I had the BBQ shrimp. I really enjoyed it! I didn't find it to have a lot of BBQ flavor. To me, the sauce had more of a chipotle flavor and the combo of that, corn, and cojito cheese reminded me of Mexican street corn. The cornbread it came with was delicious, but I wish it wasn't sitting in the sauce because it got soggy really quickly. The coleslaw was not my fav and I only took a bite. Smoked trout dip-really yummy, maybe a tiny bit lemony for some Sourdough bread-great bread and the garlic butter and peach jam that come with it are amazing Hot Honey Salmon-just delicious Wood fired scallops-pricey, but scallops were great especially when you get a little char in a bite, but the corn risotto is the star. This restaurant is huge. It has an upstairs and downstairs. The theme in the restaurant is outdoors camp vibes. Everything is smoked. There's a fire in the front of the restaurant and in the middle of the restaurant I got the salmon and mac & cheese both for excellent and for dessert, we got the s'mores yes it's an actual campfire where you can roast and make some more sandwiches. A lovely visit with a second floor view looking out on city walk. This place is pricey even for the area, but we both enjoyed our meals. We started with the fondue and it came with perfectly roasted veggies and some bread. Definitely good to share between 2-3 people. For entrees I got the seafood stew. I think it would be delicious with some sort of starch (instead of or in addition to the bread) to bulk it up a bit. Orzo, rice, something along those lines. Otherwise the flavor was light and savory from the variety of seafood. My bf got the lamb shank. Usually I'm not a huge fan of lamb as it tends to be gamey, but this lamb was cooked perfectly and I'd order that again for sure. I would forgo the drinks and get them elsewhere as they're not worth the price in my opinion. Walked up to Bigfire at park close which is a big ask. It was about an hour wait for a table, but we managed to grab a high top at the bar where everything I had was great, including the service. Our server was clearly experienced. I especially enjoyed the cheese fondue app and the s'mores dessert. I got the filet and it was an all-around tiny dish, but that's exactly what I had expected / wanted, esp to have the cheese and s'mores too. Arriving just before 5 pm on a Saturday, my friend and I were trying to beat the rush hour. We were happy to get seated right away by the friendly hostess in their beautifully decorated and open establishment. We had a great view of the water and busy boardwalk. Between the two of us, we shared their Bison burger and Cobb salad with everything on it. The burger was ordered medium but was slightly more on the medium well side. The branded top bun was a nice touch but must have taken sometime to do as the bottom bun was all soggy by the time it got to our table. Fries were salty but a little over cooked since they were kind of dry inside. We enjoyed the salad which included sweet potato, chicken, pork belly, cornbread and more. Craving some crunchy veggies, we were very happy with this choice. Overall, we had a great experience was a very personal and attentive waiter named Loui who was more than happy to provide some personal recommendations in the area. I was with a relatively large party and ordered a New York Strip m doom rare. After a really long wait the food for my party arrived. However my food was as not brought out. After waiting about 15 minutes for the waiter to come by I asked him about my meal. He then disappeared for awhile, and eventually came back to the table. I told him not to bother bring it out as most of my group was almost done and this point. He said the kitchen said it will be ready in 45 seconds. Well five minutes later the steak arrived. I cut into it and it is blue, not even rare, blue. I showed the waiter and he asked if I want him a o have it brought back and cooked more, to which I said no, take it away. No manager came by to apologize, nothing. Basically a big f u. The ambiance was fine. Update: I tracked down the manager and he did not know about the situation. Disappointing experience. Good service kept this from being a lower rating. For this price point ($$$) you would expect better but their food just misses the boat. Three of us tried the chicken sandwich. Two had burgers. The burgers were better, but even that at this price point needed improvement. A big reason for their higher cost is the location being at Universal Studios CityWalk. And maybe because their patrons are generally vacationers from out of the area, so a one and done with less repeat/local clients. Chicken sandwich: Was very dry for the three that chose this. The sauces and toppings were good but that doesn't fix a large piece of dried chicken. Buns look good, but fall apart much too easy. The fries were the highlight. Small wedge fries that are seasoned just right. The side salad is an upgrade but was a great healthy option vs fries. Veggies were amazing too. Burgers were so-so. Same issue with the bun. Parking is a major problem unless you are already at Universal or Islands of Adventure. It is $30/car, but becomes free after 6p so great tip to make your reservation after 6:30p to give you time to walk from the distant parking garage and through the metal detectors. Another tip is to stop by the concierge desk right as you get to the entrance where they can make you a reservation for any restaurant in CityWalk, along with telling you what times are available for every one of them! read more

This place is amazing! We made reservations (highly recommend to make one if you can to avoid waiting a long time). Once we checked in we stood outside and kept warm with the fire they got going. We were sat upstairs right above the bar. We made sure not to make sudden movements out of fear of something falling on someone lol. To eat we had the following: Spinach & Artichoke dip: it comes with pieces of bread which is a nice twist instead of chips. The bread has a nice flavor nothing too strong. The dip has a nice Smokey flavor to it and the cheese is nice and crispy. Cauliflower steak: ok this bad boy was amazing. Really awesome to know they have vegetarian options for those who choose not to eat steak. They do put it in the smoker & it really gives it a nice flavor. Comes with peppers, tomatoes and a farro salad. It comes with a grilled lemon and mixed together it tastes like heaven. Our server was seriously the best. Came in here on a very busy night. Lucky that we had reservations. All the steaks were cooked to perfection. We had the filet mignon, the ribeye, and the New York strip... We order the medium and medium rare and each of our eight steaks were perfect. They were all well seasoned, and the asparagus garnish was not a garnish at all. It was a huge portion. My popcorn, corn soup was delicious. You could definitely pass on the risotto. The pulled pork mac & cheese was amazing. Kind of disappointed in the selection of appetizers and side dishes though. Maybe I'm just used to family style meals, but I really felt like I didn't get to order enough food because there weren't enough options. There was mussels, but it didn't look great. Service was kind of great, even if we were definitely rushed. All of our drinks were only half empty when the refills in a 2nd cup arrived. They definitely made sure we had everything even though they were extremely busy. The open kitchen concept amazed us because everything was super clean and we loved watching the meat being grilled.
