You know that feeling when you buy something and instantly want to return it buyer's remorse? Well, coming here gave me drinker's/eater's remorse. The food is overpriced, completely lacking in flavor, and the service isn't much better. I stopped in while waiting for traffic to die down and figured I'd continue my search for a good burger at CityWalk by trying this place out. I only ordered an Old Fashioned and fries, but honestly, if a restaurant can't get fries and an Old Fashioned right, it doesn't give you much confidence in anything else on the menu. So won't be coming back to try the burger I sat at the bar, and the service was slow and not attentive. My group was seated at 9 pm and the staff were friendly! You can tell they're tired, but they still provided top notch service. This restaurant does walk-ins (we waited an hour), but definitely recommend a reservation! It's a nice place to wind down after a day in the parks, but it's not super casual. Definitely date night vibes! I like being able to come from the main entrance and not walk a billion steps to have good food! The menu is on the pricier side, but the food was really good. I got the Rack of Lamb cooked medium and the sauce was phenomenal! It had a hint of sweetness that just elevated the taste! It's probably the best rack of lamb I've ever had! The mussels were also good, definitely eat it with the sauce it comes with -- same with the lobster tail! The filet mignon was pretty average, and the pappardelle was unfortunately a little too salty for my group. The Rocky Road Baked Alaska is really good too, and they flambé it in front of you! Went there Sunday for brunch with some friends. Decided to go with the chicken and waffles on their brunch menu as I was a teeny bit hungover from the night before. When it arrived I was very dissapointed. They served me three mini waffles and one chicken tender cut in half. The server was honestly hesitant to even set it down as she knew something wasn't right. I didnt want to complain to I just decided to eat it. Two bites in and the chicken was so over cooked and dry it was hardly edible. I just sat there while everyone else ate their food. My wife was letting me nibble off of her plate as she didn't think she could eat all of hers. A few moments later a manager came to the table with two more chicken tenders and apologized and said "I think we left some chicken off your plate and wanted to bring it out to you." At that point in time I said I would honestly like to order something else as my chicken was overcooked and th waffles were now cold. He was happy to make that happen and a steak omelet came out quickly. The omelet was pretty damn good too! I applaud the manager for owing the mistake and making it right. What grind my gears is a chef behind the line, the expo, and the server all thought that was acceptable to serve that dish for $29... Just sharing the experience and pictures. read more

Decided to make a reservation here while hitting Halloween Horror Nights this year. What a surprise to find a nice higher end restaurant among the touristy offerings at City Walk. This place has a cabin in the mountains vibe with a very friendly staff. Our server was Mario and he was excellent! I ordered the PB&J old fashioned and asked if it was sweet. Mario acknowledged that it was and suggested their regular old fashioned. I asked if the bartender could inverse the ratios of screwball peanut butter whiskey and the four roses bourbon and he made it happen. A very tasty old fashioned. We ordered the filet mignon (that came with au gratin potatoes and roasted asparagus) and the rack of lamb. We also opted for the grilled shrimp add on. The food was incredible! The cherry and oak wood combination they use to cook their steaks delivers a delicious finish. The au gratin potatoes were the best we ever had. The potatoes were thinly sliced to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Both the filet and lamb were cooked to a perfect medium and very lean. The grilled shrimp were amazing. The Cajun seasoning and smoke from the grill left a truly memorable side dish. Can't express enough how good the food was. For dessert, an Uncle Nearest flight! Presented in a very cool flight board and generous pours. Hope they change up the flight offerings regularly so you can try different bourbons/whiskey on your next visit. You're vacationing at Universal and you want a steak, and good steak without leaving the park area. Bigfire is your answer! At first when I looked at the menu, I was taken back by the prices. Yeah, steak is expensive and this is a resort, but it was a bit much unless I considered it a splurge dinner. But I went and ordered anyway. Then when I really looked at the menu I realized that each steak comes with sides. The filet came with a potato gratin and asparagus. Sure, I could get more sides and pay another $10-20 per, but this was plenty. So honestly, it was actually reasonable given it is steak and this is Universal. Oh, and the steak was great! read more

Our poor experience started before we walked in. There is a small stand outside where you check in, the host behind the desk didn't acknowledge us for 5 minutes. She kept talking into her earpiece without saying anything to us. We were on time for our reservation for three people, but one of our party hadn't arrived yet. She declined to seat us, but we were on a time crunch, so we asked if we could amend our reservation to only two people. She said no, we asked to speak to a manager. They came out, talked to the host for about 30 seconds and went back inside. The manager didn't address us at all, the host said we could wait in the lobby to check in at another hostess stand. We tried to check in at this second desk and they told us that we couldn't be seated since our entire party wasn't there. We went through the process again until we were finally sat about 20 minutes after our reservation. It was a very frustrating start to our dinner. I understand upholding the policy to seat entire parties only, but the restaurant had available reservations and we attempted to amend our party to two. The restaurant has an upscale vibe without a dress code since it's on CityWalk where people are often coming from or going to Universal or Islands of Adventure. Our server was attentive and made sure everything came out well. The food was good overall, but I would get the steak with the chimmichuri sauce on the side next time, it ended up being quite oily. Highlight of the meal was the tableside s'more's! So much fun to roast marshmallows at the table and build your own with Hershey's chocolate, peanut butter cups, graham crackers, and three kinds of marshmallows including vanilla and chocolate made in house. Overall the host and reservation debacle is really dragging my rating down. I would give the host/management 0/5 stars and the food 4/5 if I could, unfortunately that averages out my current 2 star rating. Great cocktail! I am not a bourbon drinker but I tasted a friend's drink and I had to order one for myself. This Smokey Maple Old Fashion was sweet and smokey. The presentation was cool to watch them char the cedar plank, fill the glass with smoke then build the drink. This was so soft, huge, and came with a peach orange marmalade and a soft savory butter. It was a large mini loaf. My husband ordered the scallops that came with corn. 3 large scallops that were perfectly cooked. These sat on tope of a sweet corn relish. I ordered the 8 oz filet, ordered medium plus. It was cooked perfectly. That being said, if you like yours medium, order it medium. I ordered mine medium plus since most places cook medium a bit under done for me. However they cooked it as ordered and it only had a pink middle. No other pink. For dead we had the baked Alaska which was a real treat flambéed table side. Bigfire serves up American food in a slightly fancier way. It's located in City Walk at Universal Orlando. Bonus is you can make reservations for this restaurant! I've been here twice and it can get packed so the reservation is the key here. Service has been pretty good on our visits. The restaurant itself is large and open. You can walk by and see the hard work going on in the kitchen which is pretty cool! Food wise, I have had the bison burger and the salmon sandwich. I preferred the flavors of the burger more than the salmon. The salmon was also hard to eat and it fell apart. I ended up eating most with a fork and knife. Drinks are pricey but there is a lot of selection to choose from. My friend who I was with appreciated the selection of bourbon! I would bathe in the mussels sauce. I love mussels and the smell of these caught my attention as we walked to our table and they did not disappoint. I think by the end of it I was drinking the sauce. For the meal I got a pork chop and my husband got the ribeye. The protein was cooked perfectly. The sides on the pork were ok but I could've done with a different pairing. It comes with a peach jam which I thought was very good. I ordered the wedge salad with the half New York steak. The lettuce was some kind of miniature iceberg which I did not find that tasty but the steak was great. I wish I had just ordered the steak. The wife ordered the filet she said it was good but I always question that because she has to have no pink so it has to be very dry but she likes it. The atmosphere was great and very upscale. The food was pretty good. Please keep in mind we didn't have any of the main dishes and just ordered sides. With that being said, the portions were very generous. I had the pork Mac n cheese and it was good. The only thing that threw me off was that the pork had bbq sauce and I'm not a fan of the sweet and savory combination. The mac n cheese was good but I did have to add salt and it was a little runnier than I'm used to for Mac n cheese. The loaded fries were really, REALLY good!! I thought it would be similar to the Ale House but definitely not. It had 2 types of cheese, hearty pieces of bacon and sour cream. Our waitress, Iliana, was awesome! No complaints about the service she provided. The kitchen did take a while to prepare our order though. I was getting a bit antsy because I was starving! The side of gratin potatoes weren't the best and left much to be desired. They were cold and not very flavorful. My kid ordered the lamb and the farro salad that came with it was hands down the best side I've had in my life. It was warm and had texture while being soft. Service (5/5): Like all restaurants on City Walk, I would highly recommend getting a reservation. Also, make sure your entire party is present when you check-in. I have always been seated pretty close to my reservation time. The staff is always friendly and they are very knowledgeable about the menu. They will make quality recommendations if you are having trouble deciding between a few things. Price (2/5): Here is where the shrinkflation hurts. You are paying prices close to a nice steakhouse. However, the quality is closer to Outback Steakhouse. Yes, you are paying more because you are at Universal Studios. The chicken sandwich was excellent, my wife enjoyed the shrimp, and while the kids steak was TINY (basically a steak nugget) it was genuinely delicious (we had to order another one). The only downside was the service speed. I don't know if it had to do with the fact that we sat outside, but it was so slow that we basically opted to skip dessert and went elsewhere in CityWalk just so we could get up already. I'd still give them another chance because the food and atmosphere was great, just wish the service kept pace! read more

We had a reservation for 3 people at 5pm on a Saturday night. Upon arriving we walked up to the outside host stand to check in and proceeded to be ignored for almost 10 minutes while the host kept speaking into her head set about a specific table being cleaned. We waited patiently for awhile and then when we were finally acknowledged she told us we couldn't be seated because only 2 out of our party of 3 was here. Our 3rd guest was in security on their way but we already knew what we were ordering and wanted to get seated. We were planning to go to HHN and didn't want to wait to order. We told her we would just go somewhere else and she then said she'd call the manager to ask permission to seat us. He came out and never spoke to us. We then were ushered inside to speak to the next set of hosts where we thought we'd be seared but they gave us the same answer that we were on hold. At this time the restaurant was completely dead so it didn't make sense we could sit down. Finally after asking again they sat us all the way upstairs in the corner. Very few tables even seated in the restaurant. The menu had changed slightly since we had been here. The steak now comes with au gratin potatoes and a "garnish" of asparagus. The menu doesn't state it's a garnish but when I asked to change sides that's what was told. The steak also came with an oily sauce on it that completely ruined it in my opinion. The bourbon fondue was good but they did change the dippers from the last time we were here which was disappointing. Over all I felt that this location has gone down hill since it first opened lack of communication with staff, changes in the menu and clearly an empty restaurant. We used to love this place but it isn't the same quality as it once was. The biggest issue I had was the lack of communication with hosts. I ordered the elk sloppy joe which the meat was very delicious however the bread had a chemical taste, and the onion rings were cold, thick and soggy. The bacon Mac and cheese had potential, but nothing that gave it a wow factor. Unfortunately everything came out cold. Service: we had Tabitha who was a great server! Very attentive. Ambiance: we went around 5PM and was sat in the second floor which was nice and quiet until more guests came. The sun was also beating down in the windows. My daughter wanted to try this place for a while so I made reservations I have to say I was worried this would be theme park food quality at theme park prices. First you enter and extremely beautiful building the is so clean it shines! The staff was bright and happy and made us feel welcomed. Our server was at our table in a short time followed by more wonderful service! We started with the Brussels sprouts which were to die for. Let me repeat you have NEVER eaten better Brussels sprouts than these. I could have made a meal of these! The menu has several items for you to choose and not too many. . Next came our entrees. My daughter had the cheese burger and it was cooked to perfection! I had the Cobb salad. It was a typical Cobb salad but was crisp and fresh. The steaks are great as you might expect, but it's not all they do well. It's a very cool experience to walk in and see the actual fire they are cooking over. We had the appetizer- fondue cheese which was pretty decent. It came with 2 little breads to dip, some jalapeños, baby potatoes, 3 asparagus and I believe okra. This was the only thing that was decent. We ordered the wagyu rib eye and it came with asparagus and cheesy gratin potatoes. Potatoes were good but the steak was horrible. Had a weird after taste and did not taste or look like wagyu ribeye steak. Almost positive they just gave a regular boneless ribeye and charged double the price for it. I had the scallops with the popcorn risotto. The scallops were very grainy so they were not cooked very well. Also, they add on an automatic 18% gratuity even though we were only two people dining. Which we don't mind tipping 20% usually but adding it on the bill automatically doesn't make me want to leave any tip at all considering that in Florida automatic gratuity must be stated on the menu and that was not listed at all on the menu and we were not a party of 6 or more per their own menu. Would not recommend as it is one of the pricier restaurants in universal city walk and yet it is the worst quality food and worst tasting out of all the restaurants we been too. Try any other place in the city walk strip if you are visiting. read more

We made a reservation at this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday after seeing an advertisement while staying at one of the Universal resorts. We arrived about ten minutes early for our reservation. It happened to be a cold night for Orlando, around 45 degrees, and we were seated in the bar area right by the outdoor entrance. We did not requested bar seating and didn't realize we wouldn't be in the main dining room. With guests frequently coming and going through the bar door, it was quite chilly and very uncomfortable throughout our meal. Our server was also the bartender, who was managing a full bar in addition to serving tables. He did his best under the circumstances, but service was understandably slow. Note that it comes over Brunswick stew which has pork in it. Fortunately I don't mind eating pork, but I can see somebody being surprised. Someone in my part got the cauliflower steak. Know that is is pretty much just grilled cauliflower. We were expecting it to be more marinated and it really wasn't. The steak, burger, and Fries were also all delicious. The service was quick. They seemed to be going for a camping theme, but make it fancy. So the interior was very nice and the food went well with the atmosphere. read more

Would have sent the third steak back for being too rare again but didn't want to cause a scene only gave one star back because they did take it off the check. I didn't get why a steak place couldn't get a steak right until I saw that they actually cook the steaks over fire, which probably leads to some quality control issues. After being told there was an hour and a half wait at Toothsome Emporium, we were so grateful to be seated right away here after a long park day! The restaurant is huge and has lots of tables. I saw some people complaining about smoke in other reviews, but we sat upstairs and there was none of that! If you're sensitive to that, maybe ask for upstairs seating?? I tried the raspberry lemonade cocktail. You really couldn't taste the alcohol at all, so a good option if you like a sweet/tart drink. We shared the cheese fondue as an app and really enjoyed it! It comes with lots of dipping options. My favs were the shishito peppers and cauliflower. For my entree, I had the BBQ shrimp. I really enjoyed it! I didn't find it to have a lot of BBQ flavor. To me, the sauce had more of a chipotle flavor and the combo of that, corn, and cojito cheese reminded me of Mexican street corn. The cornbread it came with was delicious, but I wish it wasn't sitting in the sauce because it got soggy really quickly. The coleslaw was not my fav and I only took a bite. We also shared a side of Mac and cheese and it was delish! We were too full for dessert, but the make your own s'mores looked really fun! I look forward to trying it next time! read more

The food was absolutely fantastic - we had the fondue appetizer (added sausage), & 2 filets with truffle butter along with cocktails. The filets were cooked & seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend adding the truffle butter. The service was also absolutely spectacular. From our table we could watch the giant fire "pits" sear the steaks. We'll definitely be back! read more

I think it would be delicious with some sort of starch (instead of or in addition to the bread) to bulk it up a bit. Orzo, rice, something along those lines. Otherwise the flavor was light and savory from the variety of seafood. My bf got the lamb shank. Usually I'm not a huge fan of lamb as it tends to be gamey, but this lamb was cooked perfectly and I'd order that again for sure. I would forgo the drinks and get them elsewhere as they're not worth the price in my opinion. Only challenge is we couldn't leave the restaurant after passing on dessert. They made us wait for 15 minutes while something was broken with their computers to print a check.
