6 worn out people stumbled into Big Fire after a 9 hour day at Universal. We were hungry, tired and sweaty. Thankfully, it was a slow night and we were able to be seated immediately by the less than friendly hostess (inside). We were not seated in the main dining area which appeared very nice, and was well air conditioned. We were seated in the closed in patio area with the shades drawn and minimal AC. The chairs were hard, but it was nice to have a place to sit down. On to the food... it was so nice to eat real food. The table shared the Sourdough Bread appetizer and the Trout Dip, both were fantastic. We then split the Double Wagyu Smash Burger and it was very good as well. We subbed the fries that were offered with the burger for Fire Grilled Broccolini and those were not good. Others at our table had the fries and said they were not hot or crispy, bummer. We all had water & soda except for 1 Big Fire 75 ($18) that was about 5oz. Good, but not worth $18. Smoked trout dip-really yummy, maybe a tiny bit lemony for some Sourdough bread-great bread and the garlic butter and peach jam that come with it are amazing Hot Honey Salmon-just delicious Wood fired scallops-pricey, but scallops were great especially when you get a little char in a bite, but the corn risotto is the star. Arriving just before 5 pm on a Saturday, my friend and I were trying to beat the rush hour. We were happy to get seated right away by the friendly hostess in their beautifully decorated and open establishment. We had a great view of the water and busy boardwalk. Between the two of us, we shared their Bison burger and Cobb salad with everything on it. The burger was ordered medium but was slightly more on the medium well side. The branded top bun was a nice touch but must have taken sometime to do as the bottom bun was all soggy by the time it got to our table. Fries were salty but a little over cooked since they were kind of dry inside. We enjoyed the salad which included sweet potato, chicken, pork belly, cornbread and more. Craving some crunchy veggies, we were very happy with this choice. Overall, we had a great experience was a very personal and attentive waiter named Loui who was more than happy to provide some personal recommendations in the area. Disappointing experience. Good service kept this from being a lower rating. For this price point ($$$) you would expect better but their food just misses the boat. Three of us tried the chicken sandwich. Two had burgers. The burgers were better, but even that at this price point needed improvement. A big reason for their higher cost is the location being at Universal Studios CityWalk. And maybe because their patrons are generally vacationers from out of the area, so a one and done with less repeat/local clients. Chicken sandwich: Was very dry for the three that chose this. The sauces and toppings were good but that doesn't fix a large piece of dried chicken. Buns look good, but fall apart much too easy. The fries were the highlight. Small wedge fries that are seasoned just right. The side salad is an upgrade but was a great healthy option vs fries. Veggies were amazing too. Burgers were so-so. Same issue with the bun. Parking is a major problem unless you are already at Universal or Islands of Adventure. It is $30/car, but becomes free after 6p so great tip to make your reservation after 6:30p to give you time to walk from the distant parking garage and through the metal detectors. Another tip is to stop by the concierge desk right as you get to the entrance where they can make you a reservation for any restaurant in CityWalk, along with telling you what times are available for every one of them! read more

This restaurant is huge. It has an upstairs and downstairs. The theme in the restaurant is outdoors camp vibes. Everything is smoked. There's a fire in the front of the restaurant and in the middle of the restaurant I got the salmon and mac & cheese both for excellent and for dessert, we got the s'mores yes it's an actual campfire where you can roast and make some more sandwiches. The atmosphere is welcoming and the dining room features a show kitchen where guests can see their food being prepared. During my visit, I enjoyed the catch of the day (grouper) with risotto. I loved the flavor and the lightness of my meal compared to what my family got, which was a little more hardy. The steak was perfectly tender but was a little too salty for our preference. This place is amazing! We made reservations (highly recommend to make one if you can to avoid waiting a long time). Once we checked in we stood outside and kept warm with the fire they got going. We were sat upstairs right above the bar. We made sure not to make sudden movements out of fear of something falling on someone lol. To eat we had the following: Spinach & Artichoke dip: it comes with pieces of bread which is a nice twist instead of chips. The bread has a nice flavor nothing too strong. The dip has a nice Smokey flavor to it and the cheese is nice and crispy. Cauliflower steak: ok this bad boy was amazing. Really awesome to know they have vegetarian options for those who choose not to eat steak. They do put it in the smoker & it really gives it a nice flavor. Comes with peppers, tomatoes and a farro salad. It comes with a grilled lemon and mixed together it tastes like heaven. Our server was seriously the best. I have finally been able to try Big Fire at Universal's City Walk the other weekend! I have eaten at most restaurant in City Walk, so Bigfire was one of the last to try. We did not make a reservation, but walked in a round 530 and were able to sit at the bar. They do have a large bar area which is first come first serve. The decor and ambiance is very unique, almost like a lodge/classic american grill type vibe. They cook everything on a wood fire using multiple types of wood. We started with some cocktails which were excellent. The bartenders were a pleasure taking care of us and were attentive and fun. The roasted mussels were recommended to us to try for an appetizer so we went for it! Wow, those were delicious. No fishy taste - excellent sauce, flavor and freshness. For mains we did a Cobb salad and a burger. Both were very delicious and generous portions. I really liked the burger and we were able to take some of the Cobb to go. overall i recommend big fire there is something for everyone there!! read more

Terrible! Had a 6:15 reservation and didn't get served until 7:30pm! I ordered a salad and my son had a burger. We waited forever to get a glass of water and when we did the glasses were dirty. Stopped here after a long day at volcano bay/universal studios. Originally quoted a 10 minute wait for a table, but we were seated within 2 minutes of giving our name. I can't say enough good things about our server Patrick. So friendly. Answered all of our questions. Checked in with us frequently and kept our drinks full. It was so quiet and relaxing. It was pretty busy, but Patrick never let us feel neglected. My 11 year old got the 12 oz steak with smashed potatoes and loved it. All the food was amazing! I was with a relatively large party and ordered a New York Strip m doom rare. After a really long wait the food for my party arrived. However my food was as not brought out. After waiting about 15 minutes for the waiter to come by I asked him about my meal. He then disappeared for awhile, and eventually came back to the table. I told him not to bother bring it out as most of my group was almost done and this point. He said the kitchen said it will be ready in 45 seconds. Well five minutes later the steak arrived. I cut into it and it is blue, not even rare, blue. I showed the waiter and he asked if I want him a o have it brought back and cooked more, to which I said no, take it away. No manager came by to apologize, nothing. Basically a big f u. The ambiance was fine. Update: I tracked down the manager and he did not know about the situation. My popcorn, corn soup was delicious. You could definitely pass on the risotto. The pulled pork mac & cheese was amazing. Kind of disappointed in the selection of appetizers and side dishes though. Maybe I'm just used to family style meals, but I really felt like I didn't get to order enough food because there weren't enough options. There was mussels, but it didn't look great. Service was kind of great, even if we were definitely rushed. All of our drinks were only half empty when the refills in a 2nd cup arrived. By far this is one of the best places to dine out if you happen to be out and about here. Their food here is refined and elevated at every level. Now this is Elevated American fare. They are well known for their steaks and freshwater cuisine which they are enhanced using different woods, flavoring your meal with smoky goodness!! This is my third time here. The service is on point, something I expect while dining on universal property. Something I really appreciate is that the wood-fire grill is in the very middle of Bigfire, allowing guests to see their food cooked in front of their eyes depending on where you sit. Walked up to Bigfire at park close which is a big ask. It was about an hour wait for a table, but we managed to grab a high top at the bar where everything I had was great, including the service. Our server was clearly experienced. I especially enjoyed the cheese fondue app and the s'mores dessert. I got the filet and it was an all-around tiny dish, but that's exactly what I had expected / wanted, esp to have the cheese and s'mores too. We ordered the fondue to start and the cauliflower with the cheese was a hit. Next was the boneless ribeye and the Dutch oven beef dish with noodles. Steak had a great Smokey flavor from the mixture of woods, cooked well and seasoned nicely. The beef dish was a little hearty and the red wine sauce needed a little more time under the heat but still good flavor overall. Kids both got burgers that they proclaimed were delicious. My 13 yr old inhaled his before his fries !! I got the seafood boil and OMG it was so much food. And some crusty bread for sopping up the buttery broth. Best part of it were the perfectly cooked mussels. Husband got the Dutch oven beef burgandy. Big fire is central to the city walk in Orlando so gets a lot of people passing by. To start our reservation we sat at the fire outside, and the day before New Year's Eve this was very pleasant temperature wise. Despite the central location I felt a little secluded at the fire and really enjoyed it. I recommend grabbing a drink from the bar and sitting there for a while. Inside, the main floor of the restaurant has a nice open atmosphere and I liked that a lot. We actually ate upstairs which was good but not as nice as the lower level. My wife tried the Apple pie martini (it was sweet and very good) and I had the PBJ. It's mostly whiskey but has a nice flavor that made it nice to sip. Our service was good but not remarkable, neither good nor bad. We had the rustic bread to share, I'd give it a 6. The butter was nice but it could have been more spreadable, and the preserves were nice. The crust of the bread was too hard for my liking and there was a lot of gluten so it was substantial and chewier. For dinner I had the Dutch Oven Beef Burgundy and I thought it was really good. I enjoyed the root vegetables, and the pasta with the beef was a comfort. I might have liked a more substantial sauce but taste wise it was very good. The Big Fire 75 was fantastic; it was a complex flavor and definitely what I would expect From an upscale cocktail. My fiancé's Lakeside Punch on the other hand was more of what I would expect from a standard theme park cocktail - watered down and fruity. I did order a second cocktail later in the meal - the smoked Old Fashioned. This blew my socks off and had not only excellent presentation but a great flavor. Tasted like a campfire! We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizers and they were pretty disappointing. They didn't have much flavor and I think could have been way crispier. Even the paste on the bottom was fairly flavorless. For entrees my fiancé ordered the lamb and I ordered the short rib pasta. The lamb was fine - the meat was cooked appropriately but the grits and veggies could have had more flavor. Honestly, pretty forgettable. The short rib pasta however, was awesome! It had tons of flavor and was so good. The sauce was excellent. My only feedback is that it could have had a bit more beef in it; it was very oyster and pasta heavy. When we asked to have the meal warmed up they brought the same cold food back 5 minutes later. All 6 dishes were cold on both deliveries. The Brussel Sprouts were uncooked and when I explained the problem they just took them away. 25% discount offered on food we could not eat. It was the biggest WTF moment we ever had for a meal. I had dinner with friends here before a show at Hard Rock Live. We had a great time! Our table was ready right on time for our reservation, and we had a nice view of the kitchen which I love. The smell of the grill is nicely permeating through the place, so cozy on a cooler night. For drinks we had espresso martinis, delicious! For apps we went with the smoked fish dip and the barbecue chicken flatbread. The fish dip was tasty and fresh. I would skip the flatbread next time. It was really skimpy on the cheese. For our meal we did the ribeye and a few sides to share. My medium rare ribeye was cooked excellently. The sides were delicious including corn pudding and loaded potatoes.
