Came in here on a very busy night. Lucky that we had reservations. All the steaks were cooked to perfection. We had the filet mignon, the ribeye, and the New York strip... We order the medium and medium rare and each of our eight steaks were perfect. They were all well seasoned, and the asparagus garnish was not a garnish at all. It was a huge portion. My popcorn, corn soup was delicious. You could definitely pass on the risotto. The pulled pork mac & cheese was amazing. Kind of disappointed in the selection of appetizers and side dishes though. Maybe I'm just used to family style meals, but I really felt like I didn't get to order enough food because there weren't enough options. There was mussels, but it didn't look great. Service was kind of great, even if we were definitely rushed. All of our drinks were only half empty when the refills in a 2nd cup arrived. They definitely made sure we had everything even though they were extremely busy. The open kitchen concept amazed us because everything was super clean and we loved watching the meat being grilled. When I first looked at the place I thought it was not going to be any good but we tried and it was so good! The service was great! I got the beer can chicken and they originally burnt it and the manager said nope we cannot serve that so they made me a new one for free. We also had the s'more tray and it was so good!!! Stopped here after a long day at volcano bay/universal studios. Originally quoted a 10 minute wait for a table, but we were seated within 2 minutes of giving our name. I can't say enough good things about our server Patrick. So friendly. Answered all of our questions. Checked in with us frequently and kept our drinks full. It was so quiet and relaxing. It was pretty busy, but Patrick never let us feel neglected. My 11 year old got the 12 oz steak with smashed potatoes and loved it. All the food was amazing! A premium dining experience! This price point here is pretty high, but I would say this is an upscale restaurant on the Universal Citywalk! By far this is one of the best places to dine out if you happen to be out and about here. Their food here is refined and elevated at every level. Located at Universal Studios Orlando CityWalk is Big Fire, a decadent two story see thru kitchen restaurant know for their cherry and oak burning of steaks. We ordered the fondue to start and the cauliflower with the cheese was a hit. Next was the boneless ribeye and the Dutch oven beef dish with noodles. Steak had a great Smokey flavor from the mixture of woods, cooked well and seasoned nicely. The beef dish was a little hearty and the red wine sauce needed a little more time under the heat but still good flavor overall. The Brussel Sprouts were uncooked and when I explained the problem they just took them away. 25% discount offered on food we could not eat. It was the biggest WTF moment we ever had for a meal. Now this is Elevated American fare. They are well known for their steaks and freshwater cuisine which they are enhanced using different woods, flavoring your meal with smoky goodness!! This is my third time here. The service is on point, something I expect while dining on universal property. Something I really appreciate is that the wood-fire grill is in the very middle of Bigfire, allowing guests to see their food cooked in front of their eyes depending on where you sit. Kids both got burgers that they proclaimed were delicious. My 13 yr old inhaled his before his fries !! I got the seafood boil and OMG it was so much food. And some crusty bread for sopping up the buttery broth. Best part of it were the perfectly cooked mussels. Husband got the Dutch oven beef burgandy. Big fire is central to the city walk in Orlando so gets a lot of people passing by. To start our reservation we sat at the fire outside, and the day before New Year's Eve this was very pleasant temperature wise. Despite the central location I felt a little secluded at the fire and really enjoyed it. I recommend grabbing a drink from the bar and sitting there for a while. Inside, the main floor of the restaurant has a nice open atmosphere and I liked that a lot. We actually ate upstairs which was good but not as nice as the lower level. My wife tried the Apple pie martini (it was sweet and very good) and I had the PBJ. It's mostly whiskey but has a nice flavor that made it nice to sip. Our service was good but not remarkable, neither good nor bad. We had the rustic bread to share, I'd give it a 6. The butter was nice but it could have been more spreadable, and the preserves were nice. The crust of the bread was too hard for my liking and there was a lot of gluten so it was substantial and chewier. For dinner I had the Dutch Oven Beef Burgundy and I thought it was really good. I enjoyed the root vegetables, and the pasta with the beef was a comfort. I might have liked a more substantial sauce but taste wise it was very good. This restaurant is massive! It definitely seems like a well-oiled machine though. For drinks my fiancé and I started with the Lakeside Punch and Big Fire 75. The Big Fire 75 was fantastic; it was a complex flavor and definitely what I would expect From an upscale cocktail. My fiancé's Lakeside Punch on the other hand was more of what I would expect from a standard theme park cocktail - watered down and fruity. I did order a second cocktail later in the meal - the smoked Old Fashioned. This blew my socks off and had not only excellent presentation but a great flavor. Tasted like a campfire! We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizers and they were pretty disappointing. They didn't have much flavor and I think could have been way crispier. Even the paste on the bottom was fairly flavorless. For entrees my fiancé ordered the lamb and I ordered the short rib pasta. The lamb was fine - the meat was cooked appropriately but the grits and veggies could have had more flavor. Honestly, pretty forgettable. The short rib pasta however, was awesome! It had tons of flavor and was so good. The sauce was excellent. My only feedback is that it could have had a bit more beef in it; it was very oyster and pasta heavy. I had dinner with friends here before a show at Hard Rock Live. We had a great time! Our table was ready right on time for our reservation, and we had a nice view of the kitchen which I love. The smell of the grill is nicely permeating through the place, so cozy on a cooler night. For drinks we had espresso martinis, delicious! For apps we went with the smoked fish dip and the barbecue chicken flatbread. The fish dip was tasty and fresh. I would skip the flatbread next time. It was really skimpy on the cheese. Maybe it was a fluke but we were in their almost (2) hours. It took over 45 minutes for our appetizers to come --- cheese fondue and the roasted brussel sprouts. Overall, our experience here was good...but not great. The food was amazing for the price (city walk prices tend to be a little on the higher end as it is). The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the slowness of service. And I mean slow. If you aren't on a schedule and don't mind waiting extra extra long for your food it's worth it, but make sure you leave a good extra 30 minutes in your plans for the evening. Absolutely delicious, it's truly nothing bad that I can say about this experience. Down to the service was excellent because they checked on you several times and just about anyone even if they're not sure, waiter, is willing to assist. Now we can just discuss the food. The scallops were absolutely delicious along with the carrots, bacon, and the toast. Excellent portion size as well so once I was finished, I was content not full which is how meals are supposed to be. The place was clean, and everything just came off extremely professional. The muscles were so delicious and fresh, I could have ordered a second. I had the chicken and it was amazing. I'm gluten free and they really went out of their way for me. So pleasantly surprised by BigFire! stopped in for the first time after a very long parks day where we really didn't eat much and was so shocked at how nice it was. I'm not really a fan of the CityWalk restaurants typically. I chose this because it was new (to me) and looked far more upscale than many of the other offerings, while still having food one may want to eat after a long day at the parks. First I want to say, we actually missed our first reservation. We had dinner reservations at 8(ish on a Sunday), and ended up skipping it to get on Hagrids. there was no fee for missing it and they didn't harasses us with calls and texts. Just. a single one 10 mins after to say they ahd canceled our reservation. On our way out, (it was late) we decied to jsut try to see if we could get in not at all expecting to as one quick look inside told us they were very busy despite the day and hour. And to my surprise they actually found space for us. 20 min wait which actually ended up only being 5. Even if we had waited the full 20 there were plenty of seats outside as well as a separate bar to sit at. The man who seated us was pleasant and kind. And asked us all about our day as though it was the first time he had heard this particular conversation (though I'm sure he has the same one with almost every guest he interacts with) Which was so sweet him and so professional. We sat, they had a good variety of items. Seemed like there were kids options as well (though we were a party of adults only). Lots of beer/wine and cocktails. We didn't get any as we were exhausted and truly just wanted waters to hydrate. We ordered and food came out quickly. I had the burger and it was very good. I ordered medium well and it was a bit pink for me but I was so hungry I didn't care. I typically would have asked to send it back but again, SO HUNGRY and I was the only one with any issue at our table. Check came out fast. Let me start with the positives: You can get easy reservations through the app and the restaurant is in the middle of the area- easy to find if you are new or visiting this area. Love that parking is free after 6pm, so we enjoyed the evening immensely! Dinner- it's a pretty restaurant with tons of window areas and views, but if you are a two top you get wall areas- for Dinka with money to spend on a nice dinner we were super sad that the toddlers two tables over had window views ( I took a pic- see below). The food- the fondue is a TOTAL must!! My hubby's pork chop was good and the scallops were also delicious. Our server was kind and we never waited for anything. Timing of service- we received our app, then our main about 4 minutes later..too soon, so the food was just warm. She offered to put the dishes under the heat lamp, but you just shouldn't ever have your food sitting under a heat lamp for any extra time; especially seafood. We had a reservation for a birthday- table of 2. We were sat a table that looked as if it was a last minute idea put in the way of traffic. When asked if we could move we were told an hour wait. (It was only 2 people)Then to top it off the birthday person's steak was sooooo bland and cool by the time he got it while mine was seasoned, warm and tasted awesome. It was some time before our server returned ( at this time I was out of water) I ate the bland steak and gave the birthday person my steak. The waitress came by to ask if everything was good but honestly she didn't seem like she cared so we just continued to eat our dinner as we didn't have time to send back a charred filet mignon. Paying these kind of prices in a restaurant like this holds expectations high. We had a mostly great dinner here, tried the strip steaks and ribeye. Perfectly cooked! The au gratin potato needs some help, a bit underwhelming. We tried the sourdough bread and trout dip for appetizers, both were delicious. Desserts were not so great, the strawberry shortcake made with cornbread was a let down, too dry and not enough strawberries, prefer a traditional shortcake.
