We had one of the best dining experiences we've ever had in Orlando at Saltgrass Steak House. From the moment we realized we were stuck in traffic and running late, the service was top-notch. Crystal answered our call and was incredibly kind and sweet, reassuring us that they would hold our table. When we finally arrived, she greeted us warmly and seated us immediately. The restaurant itself is beautiful--well-appointed with that classic steakhouse decor that feels high-end without being over the top. Our server, Austin, was fantastic. He brought so much fun energy to the table and was exceptionally patient and attentive with my autistic teen, which we truly appreciated. Now, for the food: Timing: Absolutely perfect. The restaurant was half empty at 5:30 PM, yet we were told there'd be a 30-minute wait -- so we made our way to the bar and got taken care of there instead. Out of curiosity, I checked OpenTable and sure enough, it showed no wait at all. I wouldn't normally make a big deal out of it, but this was either a blatant lie or a sign that the front staff is somehow trained to turn away business. For the past several years, this restaurant has been our go-to spot on Fridays, and we absolutely loved it. Excellent service, great food. We even became members. But everything good eventually comes to an end. We came back today and out of nowhere were told that if we didn't have a reservation, they were not accepting walk-ins. Since when? The restaurant wasn't even full. There was even a time when we tried to make a reservation and were told they didn't take reservations. The person at the entrance was extremely unpleasant and rude. Saltgrass had delicious food and friendly attentive service. I wanted to take advantage of their lunch specials which are served 12 pm until 3 pm. I was delighted to find they have a happy hour menu for drinks and appetizers M-F after 3 PM. I was somewhat disappointed that since the last time I was there the meals come with one side. Soup or salad is an option for an additional charge with an entree. On the lunch menu my pork chop came with fries and a baked potato is an additional 1.99. As a frequent diner I understand the situation with restaurants. Do they shrink the meal or raise the price? Probably the best option is offering sides and salad with a slight additional cost. I ordered the strawberry spinach salad which is an additional $4.99 and worth every penny. The salad had egg, feta, candied nuts and strawberries and they did not skimp on the toppings. Joe was my server who was attentive and provided great service. When I was trying to decide between two entrees he shared his opinion. Since I was the only one seated at the bar in the middle of the afternoon, he also chatted with me. I went with the bourbon pork chop which was an excellent choice and upgraded to the loaded baked potato with extra sour cream. It was happy hour so I got an appetizer of brisket queso with chips to go. It was a big portion and he packed the toppings separate so reheating later was a breeze. I had two snacks from their generous portion. -Service was A++. My food came out of the kitchen quickly but nicely paced. -Food was great. Cooked to the requested temperature and delivered exactly as requested. -The decor is traditional steak house and they have a number of tables. Prior reviews indicate that there can be a wait in the evenings as this is in a busy convention area. -Prices are commensurate with other table service steak restaurants in this tourist corridor. Pro tip: Sign up for the Landry Select loyalty club and get $25 towards a meal on your birthday month. Saltgrass is a part of the Landry restaurant chain. They have many restaurants in the Orlando International drive area. Morton's, Oceanaire, Saltgrass, Del Frisco's, Joe's Crab Shack, Palm Orlando, Bubba Gump's and Landry's. Our server Ed was amazing. I've heard of this pace but never been.We're in Orlando for a convention so this was the last day of the conventions we made a stop here to eat. The place is clean. The staff is really nice. I ordered a watermelon fresco a drink that was delicious. I had a chicken Laredo and which was recommended and I was already looking and it was delicious. Order a drink and my food right away and the bartender was very friendly. I ordered the ribeye and broccoli which was delicious and cooked how I asked. Although the bartender was very friendly, she never checked on me once my food was out. I normally don't really care, but I wanted to order another drink with my meal, but that ultimately didn't happen. Had it been busy? I could maybe understand, but it was dead. My wife ordered a wedge an they brought out their version & it was bla, no flavor & you could tell they rushed it. My porterhouse was rare & I ordered it medium. Amazing customer service but took a while to be sat because of the busy dinner rush. So I would recommend try to get a reservation earlier in the day. The steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp was succulent. The complimentary bread didn't hit the spot but the butter is delicious. I would recommend to try their fried pickles and peppers. My fiancée and I LOVE salt grass. They never seem to disappoint us. Their steak is the BEST! I love their Mac & cheese-- so much flavor and cheesy. Their mashed potatoes are bomb too! They also have a variety of drinks on their menu. The service is always amazing. My daughter and I had dinner at Saltgrass in Orlando. There was no wait, the hostess was very polite and the restaurant was warm and welcoming. Our server, whose name slips my mind, was very friendly and even complimented my daughter on her tattoos. The complimentary warm bread and honey butter started us out on what would be a lovely meal. We both had the filet and lobster which came with a nice salad and fresh vegetables. We each had an alcoholic beverage and ended with dessert we took back to our hotel room. We usually love coming to Saltgrass, but our service from our server was really disappointing tonight. Although the food was great as always, we got the bill and saw that we were charged incorrectly for 2 things, so we told the waiter. We pointed it out and he said "I'll fix it" and took the bill out of our hands and walked away without us finishing our sentence. Then the manager (who was very nice), came over and was very nice on fixing the charge. Mind you, we did NOT ask for the manager, so I'm assuming the server probably didn't want to interact with us again and sent the manager over instead even though we were not rude, did not make a scene, did not yell, didn't do anything- just pointed the incorrect charges out. After the manager came back with the correct charges, we said thank you and gave our card. The waiter then came back and literally tossed our bill on the table and walked away without saying a word!! We were shocked! I don't want to give his whole name because I don't wanna smear his name on a review, but it started with a S. We were three co-workers getting together to celebrate the birthday of one as well as some social time while enjoying our meal. All plans were easily met, or exceeded, due to some VERY tasty entrees/beverages and superb service (that night by Nicolas). Many things were 'text book' hospitality in all the good ways, but Nicolas would still go a bit extra to make us feel welcome and taken care of. My choice for meal was the Steak Wedge and it was quite filling. Crisp wedge with perfect toppings and steak slices that were the perfect temperature and tenderness. Would easily order it again with hesitation. The house cabernet (Dark Horse) was great for the pairing. Based on this visit I can very easily recommend this location to others. As we were enjoying our bread, I had a White Cosmopolitan, and my husband got the Midnight Rider; both were absolutely delicious! For the main course, I went with the filet, and my husband chose the ribeye, both cooked to medium-rare perfection. The staff was super friendly, especially our server, Sam. This was my first time enjoying a meal at Saltgrass. Our waiter Keagan informed us about the restaurant and how it works, a unique experience. We had cocktails and proceeded to order our meal. Saltgrass was wonderful find right near our hotel. I had the bacon wrapped fillet. And it is probably in my top ten favorite steaks I've had. Melt in your mouth deliciousness.
