I was always under impression that the Ramsey location was the oldest one, but I was wrong, also it's my oldest son and his wife a favorite place to eat. Food and ambience are the same in both locations and it became a place to go during our visits back to the East Coast. During this stop - it was Saturday - the place was packed - Rangers were playing a game two in Ottawa, so we were seated next to the bar and all of the TV's were showing Rangers game (they lost in OT, same as today). Went here last night for dinner and left with a mixed opinion of the Rt. 17 location. The food was really good. The server, Kelsey, was not the best. We had to ask for water a few times and when we did see her, she was too busy talking with other servers. I get it that it wasn't busy, but at least try to act like you sorta want to be there. Nothing on the menu is reasonably priced. For the crappy location, you think they would give us a break. These are upscale prices for what is essentially a crab shack at heart. They cut corners to make money everywhere they can: --The crab cake was too bready --The marg was seriously watered down --The tomato slice on the crab cake sandwich was practically green. I have been putting off writing this review for quite some time now just because of how upsetting the service was the night I came to eat here with friends. We walked into what seemed like a slow night for Biggie's and were given the choice of bar seating or in the main restaurant, we opted to sit in the bar. Once we walked in there were a few other people sitting at near by tables, we waited for our waitress to come over, I tried to place an order for a drink and before my boyfriend or his friend could place their order she was gone. Who does that? Take one drink order and ignore two other customers sitting at the same table. That was my first bad sign. Next was she didn't come back with my drink or to take the other two for about 10-15 mins, but yet she was constantly going and taking care of her other two tables. Finally I had to ask her to please stay until we place our full order. I just don't feel like I need to go through all that trouble to place a meal order. My boyfriend really likes the cheese steaks here in fact I think he hasn't ordered anything else on the menu besides that so they must be good. I always order the crab cake sandwich because its so good I love the crunch on the outside of the crab cake and the soft crab meat center paired with the remoulade sauce. Definitely doesn't contain many fillers which I really enjoyed, just tons of crab meat. All in all I am going to give this location another shot because I'm sure every waitress isn't that rude and I must of just been there at the wrong time. I called to complain and was told the manager was very busy and would call me back as soon as it slowed down. They refunded the additional charge but I never got a call from the manager. This is a typical sports bar restaurant but with an emphasis on seafood. I had the flounder oreganato , which was an extremely thin piece of fish topped with a layer of seasoned and buttered bread crumbs. The fish was overlooked and the bread crumbs made the entire dish mushy. This cost $19.50! The side of crispy crispy sweet potato fries came late, the waiter apologizing saying the cooks had burned the previous batch. The waiter offered no bread, although I saw baskets of bread on other tables. Guess we didn't rate. The menu has a wide range of items including Italian pasta and pizza. This should be a clue that the kitchen is too busy with other stuff to pay close attention to the seafood, which requires specialized attention. If you're looking for good seafood in the Meadowlands area, you'd be better off going to Bonefish Grill in Secaucus. Oysters were big and delicious.. The rest of my party ordered appetizers as well, but none of them were as pleased as I was.. I sampled the fried calamari, chicken wings and some steamers.. All mediocre, the calamari was bland, tasteless and thin, the side sauce was some kind of weird ketchup colored gunk. Steamers were gritty and kinda anorexic looking.. At this point we all reassured ourselves of how highly rated the food was and looked forward to the main courses. Here is where things start to take a serious turn for the worse. Large Walnut shell in one of the salads, person I was eating with bit it.. after we showed and gave it to the waitress she took it away. The floor manager was informed but never came to our table to ask if she was OK or apologize. Shrimp shells in the Seafood pasta entree, think it was called "seafood mania" or something. Again, no consideration to the people who bit them. The bar "ran out" of Guinness at 5PM on a Saturday night. Nothing stood out about any of the entrees, they were just standard "Bennigan's" fare. Pasta was mushy, chicken was not seasoned.. just mediocre all around. After returning this second time, I will not be giving Biggie's another chance, two meals burned both times. Don't believe the hype, it's nothing special no matter how many great reviews you read or hear. Really chill place with some good eats. The bar is spacious and the service is friendly. I tried their sangria, white with coconut and pineapple, very tasty, but wasn't too strong. The beer was cold. The Thai Chili Calamari was great. The thing I liked the most was the breading on the calamari - perfect, not too heavy, just right. The Tuna Tacos were alright. The Oysters were SO GOOD, I must have come on a super fresh day. The Waffle Fries and Honey Mustard were perfection and I think I gained 5 lbs from just that. We went with my wife on Friday about 10:30PM for something quick to eat. Well I can tell you it's the last time. They advertise Happy Hour specials on drinks and certain food. Asked if they can put the Liverpool match on one of there 2o plus tvs. No problem, they put it on, on one of the tvs in the corner. About 10 min into the second half, I was told they had to change the tv to the Falcons, Titans game. This after I spent 60 dollars in food for me and my kids. I looked around the bar, and then asked the Biggies employee, if u can show me one Titan and/or Falcons fan, I would gladly concede the tv. I was told well these guys aren't fans of the teams, they're gamblers who bet on the games. What kind of shit is that...Should've told me this was gonna happen. I would've went someplace else. Was real convenient to shut my match off after I payed my check. I guess promoting illegal gambling is a better way to go...I will never go there again. The wife and i were in the mood for some Steamers, and I remembered the legendary Biggie's of Hoboken was open on Rt. 17 in Carlstadt. I knew it had a raw bar, Clams, Oysters, etc., and thought the steamers would be a nice treat as it is so hard to get them and get them done right in this area. Parking before 5 PM on A Friday night was no problem, and we were greeted by a friendly and abundant hostess crew who sat us immediately. The place was still pretty quiet at that time. Knowing the reputation but having never been to the Hoboken location, we were Biggie's virgins, noting the beautiful work they put into the interior of this space. I commented to my wife, "they must have dumped a ton of money into this place". There is a separate bar area where you can sit, drink, and eat, and as well as seating at the raw bar. The huge space has booth and table seating as well. A perky waitress named Sarah came to our table, and told us that the draft beers which were normally SEVEN dollars each, were now FIVE dollars each until 7 PM. SEVEN DOLLARS? FIVE DOLLARS for a draft? We each ordered a beer and nursed it for the entire meal. At those upscale prices, one would go broke just having a few beers each. We were perplexed. It got better as we looked at the menu and the raw bar pricing. Were we in the Plaza Hotel Raw Bar or on Rt. 17 in a place called Biggie's? $1.75 each for oysters, where a dozen will set you back $21.00!!! WOW! It was starting to dawn on us how they were paying for this place. If you started with a dozen Oysters, as I usually like to do, and then have an entree at around 15 - 20 bucks, and then some seven dollar beers, your bill would be well over 50 - 60 bucks per person! Yikes! THIS IS BIGGIES! As we came for steamers, we ordered them a $12.00 for a dozen. What we got was a bowl full of Cherry stone clams in a broth of god knows what. I had to ASK for drawn butter as there was none. Steamers are Little Neck clams that are usually served in a big bucket with a dish of hot water or "broth" to clean them, and drawn butter. These were not steamers, and my wife had to remind me, in fairness, that the menu did not say steamers, but "Steamed Clams". They were O.K., not a bad flavor, but they were resting in the "broth" normally used for cleaning them. I would not recommend them if you are looking for traditional Steamers. I ordered the "famous" Biggie's Cheese Steak sandwich. It was O.K. as they go, nothing out of the ordinary, and a VERY thin piece of meat. They must have lowered the price since opening because I believe it is now like $8.95 with waffle fries. The sandwich is basically decent Italian bread, cheese, onions and peppers with a thin steak lost somewhere inside. I've had the best cheese steaks in Philly, and true Hoboken legends like Piccolo's. Nothing legendary about this one, sorry. My wife had the basic Cheeseburger, Nicely cooked and flavorful, but they used a standard, flimsy hamburger bun that fell apart when the juices, etc., took hold. She was reduced to finishing it with a fork. As we were finishing, the place started filling up, with many patrons either from Hoboken currently, or living there formerly saying hello to the staff. There was an army of wait staff, and raw bar workers ready to serve a huge crowd they must have been expecting. Now, back to the beers. When we got our check, the drafts were billed at $3.00 and $2.00, so either the waitress had it wrong, or they made a mistake. Either way, those prices are more in line with happy hour pricing, and getting the people in the door. Had we known the true pricing, we would have had another beer or two more. We were excited at the prospect of a raw bar, and good, basic pub grub coming to this area in a place with a known family run reputation. However, these ridiculous prices and lack of quality will keep us from going back. At $21.00 a dozen, I'll eat my Oysters at the Plaza! read more

Formerly North American Lobster Company building (at least from what I can remember), a friend of mine I was with mentioned this place. We sat at the bar area (seated by a super nice/good-looking hostess). The bar area doesn't have a large amount of seating. Plenty of TV's though for the games...The super friendly waitress with a terrific sense of humor greeted us and was amazingly quick/attentive. Thursday's are Miller $2 night. Not a fan so went with my staple of Yuengling which is only $4 a pint(during Happy hour drinks are $2 off -- 4-7pm I think)...very reasonable! We started out with the Thai Calamari (outstanding!!!!) and clams casino (one and done for me since I am not a huge fan). We both loved the calamari and the portion is huge. For a main meal I had the burger (with their famous onions/peppers, cheddar and bacon....mmmmmmm but could only eat half since the calamari took up a lot of room in my stomach). My buddy had the breaded chicken cutlet with broccoli rabe (he absolutely loved it and I tried the BR...it was excellent, cooked just right which is surprising for a bar). We both took half our entree's home which shows how big the portions are. This place is a diamond in the rough. Great service, great food but the parking mayhem was the only downside. However, a little disappointing it ends so early 6:00pm; I have been to the Hoboken location plenty of times while i lived there and I don't recall their happier times but now that I work until 5:30 its a bummer! I went on a Tuesday in the section by the bar. It became pretty crowded as the night progressed, I was surprised to see so many people for a tuesday?! I'm not sure its a regular thing (could be because its the week of new years and some people have off?) They have a nice selection of beers and their appetizers/happier food is the perfect combination of options. I have been to biggies 1 or 2 times prior with decent experiences. However, last night I went to to biggies and got the seafood fiesta. I did not think it was bad but certainly was not great either. I got home at around 6 and by 10 I had severe stomach cramps and threw up everything I ate. I proceeded to throw up and dry heave the rest of the night and had severe stomach cramps and could not sleep. It is the best morning and I still have a stomach ache and have not had any food since. I'm not sure if they gave me old seafood or what happened but I have never reacted to anything like that before. Will probably never eat here again. read more

The chicken on the chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked, not dry at all, and the broccoli rabe, was garlicky, and not bitter at all! Both dishes came with waffle fries, which were good as well! We didn't have any dessert, because we were to full!! The bar menu was pretty extensive! Martinis, craft beer, sangria, you name it, they have it!! The staff was super friendly, attentive and quick!! The ONLY downside, parking sucks!!!! The parking lot is small, and definitely doesn't have enough parking! You may have to circle a few times or park on the side street! I came in today around 2 o'clock for a late lunch. The restaurant was mostly vacant, it gets crowded at dinner time however. Our waitress was kind, and the food came out quick. I had the "white top" which was a fancy name for a French dip, wasn't bad, but nothing out of this world. Served with waffle fries that taste the same everywhere you go. Not a bad spot for a quick lunch, I just thought my meal was average. I'll try something different on my next visit. read more
