Very knowledgeable, caring staff. Unbelievable quality service. If you must shop or purchase at Bikestop I highly recommend Chris. Unfortunately the owner Ross did not provide the same level of courtesy and respect his employees do. I am 57 and ride gently. I test rode the bike on their lot, and owned it less than 24 hours. I rode it less than a few miles on a paved road near home to discover it didn't perform as expected. I brought it back cleaner than it was at delivery. I thought agreeing with the owner to cover 6-10% was more than generous for the hassle and any tiny expenses, but when I arrived back to return the unit the owner got more involved and changed the terms. Chris my sales person vouched for me, knowing my character and the overall situation, but it wasn't enough for the owner Ross. According to him there is no return policy on bikes. He made an exception for me, and kept 15% of my money on a return instead of the agreed 10.. In that conversation with him, Ross whined about loosing money via credit card fees and taxes. Furthermore he went on to say that the transaction was "painful and inconvenient" indicating he was still doing me a nice favor by returning 85% of my money. As the conversation unfolded, I suspect Chris took some heat for the level of service he had provided. Chris over delivered and under promised, not the other way around. In the end I was surprised to learn the owner was more interested in the restocking fee, knowing good and well the bike could be resold as brand new (no different than the lot rides myself and others had taken). He would not consider the idea that future business and relationships are more valuable than restocking fees. I am on my way back to the Trek shop to purchase a unit from them. Trek understands this concept. In fact, they offer a 30 day, no questions asked, full refund in the event a unit doesn't fit well or perform to expectations. I'll also be purchasing a second bike for my wife, parts and gear. Provided it goes as good business should, I'll be referring businesses elsewhere. If Ross can ever grasp value in changing his policy to a more consumer friendly one, I'd love to work with his staff and his outfit in the future because I like supporting my local shop. Until then, I'm afraid I'll have to hand over my hard earned money to corporate giants. What a shame. read more

My bike was damaged traveling to Missouri from Ohio. My bike shop called Ryan at the Blue Springs shop to discuss parts and time to repair before we started riding the Katy Trail. They were even willing to transfer the part to the Lee's Summit location to help me out. That is service above and beyond. It turned out that we found a different repair that fit our timeline a bit better and they wished me a great trip. Would be glad to use them if I lived in the area. The bike had not been ridden in over a year. It needed some repairs and a tune-up. In three days the bike was ready to go. When I went in to pick it up, the tech checked a few things and was not completely satisfied with the repairs. He asked me to leave it with him a while longer. A couple of hours later he called and said it was ready for pick up. When I went in to get it, he said "No charge" per the owner. THAT is customer service. I'll be a customer for life. BEST BIKE SHOP IN THE AREA!! When it comes to bike shops I'm very particular. Ross, Ryan, Kris and the whole gang at Bike Stop are great!! Very knowledgeable on bikes, repairs and what's happening in the market. They are approachable and NOT elitist like a lot of bike shops have a tendency to be. I have purchased bikes, had several repairs done, upgrades and some rebuilds on some of my existing bikes. Superior service and honest pricing. If you're just getting into cycling or are into competitive cycling they have the knowledge and experience to help you achieve your needs. Great group over there and they even have shop pups!! Greatest shop in Missouri. I have had the experience of shopping at some amazing shops in both KC and STL having lived in both cities but BikeStop goes above the rest to take care of their customers. I would not be cycling today had Ryan not helped me pick out a great bike for commuting on my college campus in 2012. Today, I'm more involved in the sport as a racer and I can always count on Ryan and Kris to have my bikes in mint condition so I only have my fitness to blame after a race. I brought two bikes in for repairs, both purchased on the West Coast. These folks treated me as if I had bought from them. I got my bike completely tuned up and they helped me solve two problems: hauling my step through on a bike rack (they had a "Lobster Claw"), and because of a prosthetic elbow, I have a lot of pain, so they are going to get me fixed up with new handles bars with a better position. My other "bike" is actually a "Trikke." I needed new brake levers and cables. A lot of shops have turned me away because they weren't interested in learning about the Trikke. The folks at Bike Stop were glad to help and got on line to learn about both of my "toys." It's so rare to find people that really love their customers, but the folks at Bike Stop get it. I bought my bike here about three years ago. It's a fanciful bike and I love it, Amy did a great job on selecting the bike that was right for my needs. The store has a large selection of helmets, bike locks, bikes, and other accessories, as well as an excellent repair department. Brought my old Cannondale in for a tune up. They were world class all the way. Ryan was super knowledgeable and welcoming and gave me he confidence that my bike would get fixed up right. I got the call that my bottom bracket needed to be replaced and they explained if they ordered it would take another week for the part to come in. Frank took upon himself and rode his bike to the other shop to get the bracket for got my bike done early. Couldn't have asked for a better experience and a way to win over a customer for life.
