If I could summarize this review in two words, it would be YES PLEASE. This place was off the chain excellent, and I don't think that is due to the fact that I never would have guessed it. I was staying at the River City Casino and craving Italian, so I decided to give this place a go, and I'm sure glad I did. I happened upon the place about an hour before closing, and there were only two other tables, but customer service was still welcoming and friendly, and the food was great. I had a difficult time deciding what to order, given the menu options (as you can see), but decided to go with the Orecchiette. It was so delicious that I wanted the recipe - a perfect mixture of spice, ingredients, and flavor. Had I not indulged on the delicious assortment of bread that came before my meal with the various oils offered, I probably would have eaten the whole thing and asked for seconds. On that note, the breads were solid as well, and I loved the Chile Flake Olive Oil they had. So, so good. There is no doubt I will be returning here the next time I'm in St. Louis, whether I am staying at River City or not.

This is a tasty spot with great pasta dishes. The service isn't exactly stellar, but it's alright. The mushroom pasta I had was a particular standout. Of all the restaurants in this casino, this was by far my favorite. You can't go wrong with tasty pasta.

Was a last resort since buffet line was 2 hours long and closing soon. Waited for a while here just for silverware and water (which I had to ask for a couple times). This is a case of where the appetizers were the best part. A case of quantity over quality. The risotto balls were the best part. I got the "house special" and was underwhelmed at how bland it was, should've gotten something else maybe.

Pizza anyone or Italian soul food? A nice airy atmosphere in the RiverCity Casino. Lots of seating, relaxed with a limited various, nice food selection and plenty of deserts. We chose to sit at the bar. It was an afternoon before 3pm. So, it was not crowded. My party of 3 chose appetizers and they fulfilled us all. *Caesar salad (half or full order) we chose a full order no protein. *Toasted Ravioli (4 large soft, crispy pieces, topped with grated cheese) and a side of red sauce. *Shrimp scampi...WOW! Flavor city! Citrus with beans, tomato cream sauce. 6 jumbo shrimp (bland taste). I recommend the Shrimp Scampi!! So gooooood. The birthday dessert was a surprise. Yummy marzipan cheesecake. I dislike cheesecake! This did NOT taste like cheesecake. It was not creamy. Which I'm happy about. The graham cracker crust was solid, the filling was thick with a hint of cinnamon. The raspberry sauce, non-crunchy (happily unusual) fruit was very pleasing. And the 14-karat edible gold was a nice touch on top of the light whipped cream. We all enjoyed our short moment spent! Thank you. Check out the desert section pictures

It was a random Wednesday when I stopped in, Mom in tow, for dinner. Thankfully, they weren't crowded and we were promptly seated. Our seat was in the open area, with a view of the main casino walkway. I enjoyed sitting in that space because, well... people watching is great and right up my alley. Neither my Mom nor I were overly hungry, so we decided to share our meal. Let me begin by saying the Sweet Tea here is awesome! It was the right amount of sweetness and the tea wasn't at all weak. Very good. We started our meal with the Meatball appetizer. The meatballs were fantastic! The flavors were robust and the meat was nice and tender. It's a little awkward for sharing because there are 3 meatballs on the order. Next up was our Caesar Salad, which the kitchen pre-split into 2 portions. I love it when restaurants help you out by pre-splitting an order. The salad was very fresh and crisp, but I will say their caesar dressing is a little on the vinegary side, enjoyable still. Our main entree, we went with a pizza topped with sausage, onion and bell peppers. Oh so good!! I love their crust, it's thin and airy, not too thick so that the toppings are the star. Their sausage has an robust sage flavor which is exactly what you want in a house-made sausage. The onions and peppers did their job as supporting ingredients. I wish I could remember my server's name because he was the right amount of attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.

I ended up suggesting Cibare for a family birthday dinner since I have been wanting to try it and once you're in St. Louis Hills it's not that much further. There were five of us and we were seated immediately when we got there at about 5:20 on a Monday evening. Our server was Sarah and she did an excellent job. We shared the Calamari Fritti, Neopolitan Garlic Cheese Bread, and a Calabrese (TOMATO SAUCE, LOCAL SALAMI, MOZZARELLA, FRESH OREGANO, CHARCOAL OIL) Pizza for appetizers. We also devoured the bread service. On the table was extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Calabrian chili pepper-infufed oil, and parmesan cheese. Yes, that bread went down very easily! The Caesar salad was a very generous portion and I really liked it. The lettuce and dish were properly chilled. I ordered the small portion of the Lasagna which I really liked. It was a pretty classic preparation but it was done well. Other orders were the Chicken Parmesan, Pork Pizzaiola, Shrimp Fra Diavalo, and another pasta with the spicy arrabiata sauce. We were all very pleased and I think four out of the five of us had to go boxes for our entrees. At this point some of us walked to the other side of the restaurant so we could look at the dessert case. We ordered 2 cannoli, 1 pecan sticky bun and butter pecan gelato for the birthday boy, Limoncello Bundino, and a Chocolate Bundino. We were there and we just went for it! No turning back! My cannoli was served on a small scoop of vanilla gelato and garnished with some sugar cookie pieces and fresh berries. The garnish would have been a great dessert all by itself. I have to say the one thing I did not think was up to par during this meal was the cannoli. The shell didn't taste fresh or handmade and the filling had very little flavor. The service was good and the space is really amazing. The pizza oven is beautiful. I think this restaurant would be getting all kinds of attention if it wasn't hiding inside a casino in South County. You should really go check this out and see for yourself. I'll be back. *I was too busy eating to take a lot of pictures during this meal!

Went here for dinner with two friends because we all had $20 vouchers! I really like this place as I had been here once before. It was really nice because I got to show two friends this place I enjoyed in the past. Lots and lots of pros for this place. The wait staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and you can tell they care about the customers. The bread box is great and has 3 different type of breads. They also have two olive oils and one balsamic. One olive oil has spice in it. It's good to mix them all together and add Parmesan cheese. Last night we had three dishes. We had Spaghettini and meatballs, a mushroom dish and a beef dish. It was all really good! It was nice that you can get either a half or full order on all pasta dishes. One or two small issues. One of the issues was when the red wine bottle was being opened the waitress chipped the bottle and it took us mentioning something to get it fixed. The water was not very cold. The place was pretty empty and the service was just a little slower for how slow it was. I really enjoyed the freshness of this place, the atmosphere, and the good time I have here. River City Casino is s little bit of a hike but I think you should all venture out to try this place!!!

    Arancinis were really good!
    Les S.

With the tables (wood chairs, no cushions, ave. sized table), flooring (concrete I think, no carpet) and lighting (really brightly lit); the place looks really great, but I guess I expect an Italian place to have slightly more subdued lighting and comfy tables/flooring. Maybe that's just me. Ambience 3/5 Arancinis 5/5 (really good, great sauce) Toasted Raviolis 2/5 (not much filling, hard to chew) Sausage Pizza 4/5 (pretty good but I wouldn't get sausage next time - too spicy for me) Lasagna 4/5 (half order was good sized and friend said pretty damn good) Chicken Parmesan 4/5 (cost a little more but HUGE portion, friend liked it)

    Delicious and vegetarian!

This is my 3rd or 4th visit and the food is always good. They offer salad, pasta, and pizza. I was hesitant because almost everything has meat in it. This dish didnt and it has mushrooms, double win for me.

This restaurant has high quality food and excellent service! The menu is ever changing (while keeping fan favorites) and never disappoints. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in Italian cuisine. Also the chef is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Enjoy this photo of ravioli, it was delicious!

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in St. Louis! Every visit consists of spectacular service and delicious food. My favorites on the menu include the risotto balls appetizer, Bianca pizza, and Canestri al Funghi pasta. Every dish comes out tasting hot and fresh! It's always a fantastic experience dining here.

I was visiting St. Louis for the first time and I wanted to try foods that St. Louis was known for…read more(according to online research) and toasted ravioli kept popping up. Being from the Bay Area in California, I had never heard of toasted ravioli so I added it to my itinerary. I found this place on Yelp and saw that Guy Fieri (another Bay Area native) had featured it on his show so I settled on Anthonino's. I walked over from the Botanical Garden on a Friday afternoon around 12pm so that I could get a better feel of the streets, locals, surrounding shops, and the Hill neighborhood. The area was very calm, clean, safe and had a sense of pride. I enjoyed the sights and sounds throughout the streets and by the time I arrived at the front door, I was super excited to eat. I was seated quickly at the bar and given a menu and water. The bar staff were friendly and pleasant to talk to and also took my order within a few minutes. The restaurant quickly filled up behind me and it was a lively environment. I really appreciated that the TVs had sports shows on (huge sports fan and was in town to visit Busch Stadium) so it gives you something to look at. I ordered the toasted ravioli and a tiramisu. As a solo traveler, I have to limit how much I can order so this was the perfect amount for me. The food was amazing and I wished that I could have tried more plates. The ravioli had great flavors and texture and the tiramisu was so creamy and fresh. I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself. The customer service from all staff members was amazing! Thank you for this experience :)

While traveling through Missouri, my wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner. I searched…read moreYelp and came across Anthonino's. I also remembered seeing it featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so we figured it had to be worth a try. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but noticed a few open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead. The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.

The duck bread entree was seared to perfection and cooked exactly how it was meant to be cooked. The Panna Cotta was a seasonal masterpiece. I did have one issue: I ordered a Barr Hill Vodka Martini at a premium price, and it had a strong taste of Juniper. I alerted the staff and they were very apologetic and understanding, unfortunately the manager assured me it was Vodka and didn't acknowledge the possibility it tasted like gin. I'm guessing bartender failed to rinse the shaker properly after the previous gin shake, resulting in a vodka drink with a strong gin flavor. The staff kindly replaced the drink with a lower quality vodka that helped satisfy me. The situation was resolved, but I walked away feeling misunderstood and dismissed by the owner. I will be back and I do recommend this restaurant. :)

We ordered a bottle of Amarone and enjoyed it with the whole meal. For starters, we ordered the polenta with Italian sausage between the two of us. We could only exclaim about how creamy the polenta was. It was extremely hearty, with some vegetables and thinly sliced Italian sausage. I'm glad that the Italian sausage was thinly sliced because otherwise it would have been overpowering for my palette. The next dish that my daughter had was technically a Caprese salad, which was tomato and mozzarella. She didn't like the red onion, but had asked for balsamic vinegar on the side, which she added to the salad, and when I tried the balsamic vinegar, even I realized that it is one of the best that I have ever had. My daughter went with the gnocchi, and said that it was among the best that she had ever had. We shared a veal and mushroom risotto between the two of us, and it was perfectly moist, the veal was not overpowering, and it was perfectly cooked. The veal just simply melted in the mouth. My osso buco came on a saffron risotto, and the osso buco was fantastic, tender, and simply delightful. I enjoyed the marrow very much, but I almost wished that the dish came with polenta, not risotto. However, it was still magnificent. We took dessert to go, because we couldn't finish everything at all. However, this is definitely not going to be the last time we come here. The ambience was fantastic, very intimate, darkly lit, but still noisy, with people having fun here. Our service was top of the line, with great humor. Give this place a try. You won't be upset, neither will you regret it. Our compliments to the chef, staff, and owner. What a home run.

The restaurant looked amazing, and I was somewhat surprised that they served their regular menu as opposed to a limited menu as many places do on a holiday. My daughter and I both had the salmon meal while her friend tried a special, grouper. My salmon filet was perfectly done and the pasta and fresh vegetables it was served on was fantastic. Tori had an aperol spritz and it was delicious while I stayed with a soft drink so nothing to share there. Both of them enjoyed their entrees commenting on freshness and flavor. For dessert they selected cannellonis and I had a slice of their house made cheesecake and a cup of coffee. Dessert was just as delicious as the entrees were. It is very costly but for a white table cloth dinner to celebrate both a birthday and NYE it was amazing. The service was splendid, our server was a beautiful young lady with suggestions on selections, the bussers were busy seemingly there waiting for you to finish so that they could remove your plate. I hope to return soon on a dinner date that with a lady I would like to impress.

It really is consistently good and we've never had a bad experience here. We started with cocktails and I had the espresso martini. It was very good! She had more of a fruity martini and also enjoyed it. They give you bread which is always a plus, and we started with an appetizer of mozzarella fritti which was fresh mozzarella and fried. Delicious. We also obviously had to get the salad and it was so good with the house dressing. We had the chicken piccata and the pollo Soto. My piccata came with a side of pasta and was very tasty. I loved the lemon and the capers. Our server was kind and helpful. I definitely recommend making a reservation because we went at noon on a Saturday and it was poppin! I'll be back :)

The interior is nothing fancy, but it has that standard charm of The Hill. The service was excellent, we had Katie. She could have told us she went to WashU and majored in waitressing and we would have believed her. Prompt, professional but slightly personable. Good combo. The food was GREAT. We couldn't decide which was better, the Chicken Picatta or the Chicken Speidini. They were both super high quality poultry mixed with a rich and flavorful sauce, yum. Katie even let us make the side shells "pink", by mixing marinara and Alfredo for us. The only reason I'm subtracting a star is that our salads were a bit wilted -- my Mom kept running into some weird looking greens. Regardless, we'll be back.
