Very nondescript building. The inside is very clean and orderly, but dated. A bunch of the tables seats were torn or worn. The server at the counter was very friendly and helpful and got our order taken quickly. She was able to resolve a small issue with my gift card not scanning. We had a coupon for two cheeseburgers and fries. I ordered a small soft drink as well. Even with the coupon, it still was $21! Ouch. It took about 10 minutes for our order to be ready, not bad. Everything was cooked hot and fresh. The fries were good, cooked just right. The burgers were disappointing. The bun and toppings were fine but the burger patty was super thin and unseasoned. Maybe change the logo to Home of the Worlds Most Bland Cheeseburger. This place isn't bad, it's convenient and almost never busy. If you want a really great cheeseburger though, try someplace else.

Plate with no foil? To Go?

Just got a togo CB Plate, Plate was in box, no foil, ..Relish was a sweet pickle relish not dill. Lucky I'm a slow driver...check this out. Never happens with Tom Wahls...

Every time I get to come back home to Rochester from Texas, I HAVE to swing by Bill Gray's. I went with some fam on their new special day, great plate Tuesday. You know I HAD to do a burger and some white hots. I got everything! That meat sauce tastes bomb on errrrrrrthang! Everything comes out pretty quick. It's a lil sad because it was pretty empty and quiet. We HAD to top it off with some Abbotts! Rochester staples for sure.

Normally, you come to Bill Gray's for a great burger. It's expensive, but every now and then, you gotta splurge. Today, I ordered a cheeseburger meal (burger, fries, and beverage) for $14.99. They don't itemize on the receipt you get at the register, but they do on the ticket that comes out with the food. When the food was ready, the first thing I noticed was the paltry amount of fries. Normally, the little basket overflows... after all, you're paying $5.49 for them. Now, potatoes cost only about a dollar a pound, so the fact that they're charging such a high amount MIGHT be reasonable IF you received more than 4 ounces on your plate. Also, as I was eating, I glanced at the itemized receipt and realized that rather than charge me for the meal, the cashier rang up each item individually. This means that they charge me more than 10% over what the meal price was and I would never known had I not glanced at the itemized receipt. When I asked to speak to the manager and mentioned both being overcharged and the underwhelming amount of potatoes, I was handed $1.71 in cash, and nothing was done about the potatoes. So, I mentioned that we would just deal with the potato issue on Yelp, hence this review. There's a Five Guys across the street, which is also expensive, but you'll get more fries than you ever imagined.

I have seen the Bill Gray's burger places in a few locations in Rochester and I actually went a few times to the one located next to Seabreeze. I always smile when I pass by as they advertised "the worlds greatest cheeseburger". It reminds me of the movie Elf, where he goes to a coffee shop, which advertises the "world's best cup of coffee". Well, today, I was able to have lunch at the location in Henrietta. It is quite a fun building, laid out like a railroad station with lots of tables and a space in the back, which has some games such as air hockey and video games. We arrived shortly before noon and for such a huge building, there wasn't very much business. It was Tuesday and there are special plates available on Tuesdays, so I ordered the impossible burger with two sides. What I didn't realize is that it is not a burger on a bun with two sides. It is more like what they refer to in Rochester as a garbage plate. so, I got a perfectly done impossible burger with coleslaw on the side and sweet potato waffle fries under, over and on the side of the burger. When asked by the very nice man at he counter what I wanted on the plate,, I told him to give me the works, minus the meat sauce. The dish arrived scattered with relish and squiggles of ketchup and mustard and chopped onions. It also came with a fresh little bun. So, surprised by the appearance, I dug in and have to say I really enjoyed it. The waffle fries were perfectly done, but the coleslaw was too sweet for me. I think coleslaw is something that nobody can agree on. I recall a story about a friend of mine, whose mother lived in an assisted living community. There was such an hullabaloo in the dining room about the coleslaw and disagreement about what constitutes a good coleslaw that the chef took it off the menu. Problem solved. The service was very friendly, and the place is clean. The nice thing about Bill Gray's is that they also have Abbott's frozen custard for dessert. Though I didn't order any after lunch, it is really a wonderful option. It was a splendid meal, and I will return when I am in the mood for the "worlds greatest cheeseburger".

When you see billboards in Rochester for the best fish fry, let me tell you - it is. Price is right and the amount of food along with the quality of fish makes this place the go-to joint for Friday fish fry baby! I would recommend ordering ahead of time for pickup to beat the lines for take out. I have nerve actually eaten inside but it looks clean and taken care of.

    Cool mural inside.

Thank you for the delicious Friday night fish fry. Honestly if you're looking for a good fish fry, this is the place to go. I had never been to this location, even though it's closest to my home, but with the pandemic and my desire for something other than my cooking I decided it was fish fry night. They're known for their garbage plates and burgers I think, but I go for the fish. My friend loves the garbage plate. Ordering with John over the phone was easy. In and out, payment, and pick up even easier, quite a few people waiting in the parking lot for food, so good sign this place is reliable. It's a local chain, above fast food, and worth the value. Only odd thing I noticed there is some funky decor (?) not sure if there's a gym or tree house in the middle of the seating area, couldn't figure it out, oh well, I will definitely be back, thank you again for the delicious fish :)

I come here for two reasons. Garbage Plates, or their version of it; and Abbott's Custard. Both in one place makes it so easy to relive the past while traveling through the area. Cheese Burger Plate, double Home Fries, with everything, extra onions and hot sauce. The hot sauce in this area is something special; meaty, spicy, and Delicious!

They even have veal dogs, Italian pork sausages, and chicken spiedies (grilled chicken cubes in a hotdog bun -- spiedies are an upstate NY invention). I have tried all of these options and they are all fantastic, but I am a purest and love the kosher all beef dog with grilled peppers and a touch of sauerkraut the best. You can also purchase frito-lay bags of chips and bottled/canned drinks. He uses local wieners ...tee hee....from Hofmann's franks based out of Syracuse New York. Lou notes that he thinks that "central New Yorkers prefer the grilled flavor to the classic New York city steamed or boiled hot dogs." This is why he switched to a gas powered grill in 2001. I can't agree more, I love the grill. Lou is super friendly, and he'll chat with you as he prepares your dogs. Its $2 per hot dog. One dog is a great snack, 2 dogs or 1 chicken spiedie is a great meal. Things started off great. The servers are very welcoming! We got some water run over, I don't love that they don't have menus and that you have to use your phone. I understand the "convenience" but it's much more convenient to just have a menu. So, we ordered and the pretzel came pretty quick which we got as an appetizer. Four stars it was very yummy, honey mustard was good, queso was good, too much salt on the pretzel though, way too much salt lol, but it was good. Then there was a bit of a wait for our burgers, not forever but a little bit of a wait. The portions are interesting. The fries are shoe string which I personally think is the crappiest form of fry in existence so that's one strike. One of our fries was normal and one of them was bacon and cheese. It was okay but it's a fairly small portion of fries for a $20 dish. As for the burgers we got a plain burger with mozzarella cheese and we got a double burger with onion rings bacon and barbecue sauce on it. They were both good, buns were good, burgers were good, No real complaints but also not like wow I want this again. A bit pricey for what you're getting especially with the slow service.I would say the burgers are similar if a little smaller than Bill Gray's. Then we had a bit of a stumbling block. At this point it was about 5:40\ 5:30 and they were in full swing for dinner Rush on a Wednesday and very understaffed. After half an hour of waiting for our server to come back, I had to get up and go to the bar to order the milkshake. At one point someone came and cleared our dishes and asked us if we wanted more water to which we said yes and they never showed back up. That's definitely a very strong second strike. Bill came to $72 which seems utterly ridiculous for a couple of burgers and fries, a pretzel and a milkshake even if it's a very impressive milkshake. I don't think it was a $20 milkshake. It had an ice cream sandwich on it, two brownie bites and a cosmic brownie. Frosting along the rim with some little candies kind of pressed into the frosting. It looked great and it was good, I just don't think it was $20 good. $15 probably would have been fair. Even though it took them a while to get our order and to get us our milkshake and I had to go track someone down in order to order it they were pretty quick to take our money when it was time to pay the check. They also do one of those awkward things where they have a handheld credit card machine that they pop your card into and set it down while they stand there and watch you put in the tip which I never love. All in all was it interesting? Sure and she really enjoyed it and that's what it was about. I don't see us going back frequently. Small side note for the colder months it's a relatively small restaurant and the front door opens to the street so every time someone either comes in or goes out a freezing gust of air blows through the whole restaurant so come dressed for cold weather.
