Best place so far for classic breakfast dinning. I have yet to find one equal or better to this classical Gem. I wish we had more of these still around. My roommates and myself frequently stop onto this small diner for a quick meal. The food is very good without being fancy. The staff are always pleasant, and the overall atmosphere is very comfortable. It's nice to know in this day and age of fast food everything, or restaurant chains there is still a small diner that holds on to the idea of times gone by. If you want reasonable meals that are very good this is the place. This little cafe serves food at a very reasonable price. Look, first of all, if you're expecting a five star dining experience go somewhere else. If you want something cheap and probably greasy come here. You won't be disappointed. As far as the service goes I've seen them work slow (when it's slow) and I've seen the servers hustling (when there's a mad rush). No one has ever been rude. It's a greasy spoon type diner and sure it probably could use some improvements but this place has been around for so long that why would you want to change it? Let me start by saying that I have been here alot. Every time I go to the VA, I stop here, but never again. So the food is good, I mean nothing is homemade, it's all packaged pre made food, but heh, it's quick and cheap and tasty. HOWEVER, I watched the cook today, and smh! I watched him put raw bacon on the counter to separate it to go on the grill, and did he then clean it, no, did he then wash his hands, no, did he then atleast wipe them, nope. He immediately, grabbed a cooked biscuit, cut it in half to butter and warm on grill. Literally, whoever was getting that biscuit got some raw pork slim with it. there were a lot of other disturbing things I saw the cook do, but if I don't stop thinking of it, I'm going to be sick. I have never in my life seen so much cross contamination happening in such a short time, the health department really needs to inspect this place. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant for 20 or more years. They are open 24 hours and they have great food. They serve breakfast all day and night and their coffee is great, always fresh. Their hamburgers and chicken fried steak are excellent. Tonight my husband and I went there around 10:00 pm and I had pancakes and he had steak and eggs. Very good!! I want to tell you about their honest employees too. I dropped a small purse while I was getting out of our booth and didn't realize it until I had gotten home. I panicked because it had cash, my DL and 2 bank cards. I immediately called and they told me they had found it. When I went back to get it the cook handed it to me and told me to check it and everything was in it! I gave all of the cash I had in it to Buffy, our waitress and thanked her and hugged her neck for her honesty and for securing it until I got there. 12-11-2019 I have been coming to Bill's Grill for many years. I have always enjoyed playing the arcades up there while my food was being prepared. I have never had any problems with the cooks or servers but today that changed. There where times where me and my friends would come in and we will notice the server being a little aggressive with us and giving us a dirty look like we where not supposed to be there. But the ladies never actually showed their true colors until today. I came in to Bill's grill and I notice that the tables and floors were very dirty. There was food all on the floor. I finally sat a the round table by they arcade room. I politely asked the server could she please sweep underneath the table a little. She stared at me and gave me an angry look. As she was walking over to the kitchen to grab the broom, she started talking loud to the other ladies about me. She was pointed her finger in my direction and kind of yelling. As the server came to my table and started to sweep underneath, She said, "What I don't understand is that their is nothing underneath the table. I don't know what his problem is." After she was done sweeping, I said to her, "Maam, it wasn't that big of a deal. I did not mean to make y'all upset." She started to kinda yell in my face and said, "This is the cleanest table here." But one can see that there was food particles everywhere on the floor. So I told here that was ok, Ill just go somewhere else to eat. Then the server went to the other ladies and started to bad mouth me. And one of the Ladies said that I needed to move around. I got up and I approached the lady at the counter and I asked her polity could I have the managers number. She gave me that angry look and said, You need to move around! If you want to talk to the manager she will call but you need to move around!" And I just said ok. As I walked out the door, the cook lady followed me out side and I believe she was writing down my license plate number. Also, I believe she was either talking to the manager on the phone or the police I wasn't sure. I sat in my car in shock and started to cry. I was thinking, did this really happen to me? Tried this place with some coworkers while out doing a flooring job in Temple. Nice little greasy-spoon decked out old diner style with a very social and very casual atmosphere. Had the double burger, which was a great bite for the price. Lost a star for the fact I had to order a side of fries separate and the gambling machines in the back (just turn the sound off, guys!) but there are many menu items that include free sides and the background slots noise wasn't too overwhelming. If "uppity and refined" is what you're looking for, go elsewhere. Otherwise, this place is certainly worth a visit for a good hot meal and your wallet will thank you as well. read more

It's my First time being here and I love it ! Me & my boyfriend came at 1:36 am and it's nice and peaceful ! They have such a big variety of food on their menu which is fantastic ! None of the cooks wear gloves. Lots off cross contamination. I ordered Chili Cheese Fries. I watched a cook dig chilli out a white bowl that was in the fridge and add it to a clear bowl that was half full. No telling how old that chili was and she just added more on top of the old.After that she put the clear bowl in the microwave to warm my chili Wiped the counter with a dirty rag. Just brought my buddy to have a procedure at V.A. from Rockport. He took me to Bill's and I was happy to see they served breakfast anytime. The waffle was exactly what I have been craving. It was an early morning and I was hungry. It was nice waiteres was nice and frindy and the food was good. That's all that matters.

On my first (and also last) visit to Bill's Grill the entire experience was terrible. I walked in and waited seated for about 15 minutes before a server spoke to us. I ordered tea and my sister ordered coke, our server came back about 5 minutes later with a tea and glass of water.. not coke and walked away. When she came back to take our order she was very nice and I began to hope it was getting better. After that however, about 25 minutes later, our food finally came out. We had ordered a chicken strips plate and a catfish plate. All of the food resembled something you can buy in the frozen section of a grocery store and tasted even worse. The tartar sauce was a scary yellow color, the bacon bits for my baked potato were very brown and smelled more like a dog treat than bacon, and it was all at the most warm, not hot. I do not think that this has anything to do with the staff not trying hard enough but that they are simply understaffed!! They had only one server serving about 8 tables and 1 person cooking all of the food for everyone. I do not ever plan on returning to this establishment. read more
