Andrea was super friendly! The cooks are friendly as well. When we walked in we felt welcome. And the ambiance is good. The inside of the restaurant has some very cute decor and is a very relaxing place to grab a quick bite with friends. I got the honey love pizza and it was a pretty good oven pizza. The crust is delicious and the sauce was nice as well. This was a great combination of toppings. The spice from the pepperoni countered with the spicy honey was amazing. I thought the pizza could have used a little more cheese, the pepperoni could have been crispier, and the spicy honey could be drizzled thinner. I love wood fired pizza. I love the chewy crust of a perfectly cooked brick oven pizza. Bricks Wood Fired Pizza does brick oven pizza some of the best in the area. First, we should look at the layout of Bricks. It is not a sit down Italian restaurant or pizzeria. It is "fast food" pizza where you order at the counter and wait for it to be cooked then go home or bring it to a seat and eat there. For "fast food" pizza, this is the best. I love the thin crust because it allows it to be chewy, but not doughy. The crust is the best part. You can make your own or have one of their per-designed pizzas. I got the classic sausage and it was very delicious. The pizzas seem a little pricey, but the ingredients are fresh and the pizzas are big. I will get one for myself and it feeds me for two days. You are basically paying for two meals! I got their salad too. The lettuce appeared crisp and fresh which is all you can ask for in a salad from a "fast food" pizza restaurant. Good afternoon Foodzies, we just had a great time at Billy's Wood fired Bricks pizza in Lombard. 2770 highland ave. The restaurant has a rustic look with wooden table tops on top of galvanized pipes fitted together as the frame for the tables. We attended a pizza making class given by Peter, who was outstanding. He was personable, knowledgeable and had a great demeanor. Also there were Carlos, Samir and Conner. They added to our wonderful experience. We sampled their margarita pizza and their 4 cheese pizza. Both were fantastic, also their fresh bruschetta, it had a light balsamic and fresh tomatoes and basil. We learned a lot about what goes into making pizza from the region on Naples in Italy. We also were told that all of their ingredients is authentic from that region. The pizzas are cooked in a huge pizza oven which weighs 2 1/2 tons. We were then allowed to make our own pizza under the tutelage of Carlos their master pizza maker and Peter. Glenda chose to make her pizza with chicken, ham, mozzarella and tomatoes. Great choices the flavors worked well together. I went a little wilder. Choosing sausage, spinach, bacon, goat cheese, prosciutto and mushrooms. It may sound weird but it was wonderful. We highly recommend trying this class out, we think you'll love it. Oh, by the way it comes with a complimentary beer, wine or soft drink. I give this place 5 stars. However, the food itself I would give 3 stars. For this being the Chicago suburbs, if you are going to create pizza, you need to beat the surrounding competition (Lou, Giordano's, Gino's East). In that regard, I was kind of disappointed. Chicago is known for pizza and hot dogs, and I cannot say that this pizza says "Chicago." It was good, but not great. I like how chicagoland can have other pizza options besides deep dish. Bricks Wood Fire Pizza would be a great hipster place for a date night! They were gracious enough to host a yelp elite event and after trying their pizzas, they're pretty ordinary. I found their BBQ chicken and Smoked Gouda pizza a little on the sweet side and their artichoke pesto pizza was a little too greasy (pesto pizza is my absolute fav). However, they have a prosciutto and baby spinach pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese and a sunny side up pizza that sounded so interesting!! These I will have to come back and try. I haven't found interesting pizzas like that in a long time. I am a bigger fan of their appetizers. Their bruschetta and pretzel and beer cheese were delicious! As were their arugula salad with grape tomatoes, little mozzarella balls and avocado (like all my favorite things in a salad). They do have an option where you can make your own but they charge per topping, which is kind of a bummer. The staff is super friendly and service was excellent. I recently had the pleasure of ordering from these folks. It was a dreary, rainy afternoon and I was hungry for some good old comfort food! This place has comfort food in spades! (Think Potbelly's on steroids) The sandwich was better than average because of the included ingredients which seemed fresh and plentiful! On to the noodles: This is where you can get comfortable with their true artistic comfort foods. We ordered the Creamy Pesto noodles (big yum!) and the buffalo chicken mac and cheese and wow, were both of these dishes delicious!
