I've loved Bricks pizza for a few years now, it is my favorite place for an authentic Neapolitan pizza. The dough/crust is amazingly tender and chewy, the toppings are high quality, and it's cooked to perfection in the brick oven. We've tried several of their specialty pizzas and all are amazing, my personal favorite is the white arugula. So when we saw a Groupon for a pizza making class, we absolutely bought it and I am sooo glad we did! It was so much fun and I would recommend it to anyone!! It was worth every penny and a great experience. Pete, who ran the class, was wonderful and taught us a lot about the history of pizza as well as the techniques and ingredients involved. I decided to try a new pizza place today so I decided to eat at Bricks in Lombard and I was happy that I stopped in. You can't miss the copper shelled brick oven when you first walk in and that there is wood burning inside. I have never had wood cooked pizza before in an oven that is good for making bread too according to the manager. Since this was my first time at Bricks, I had a few questions for the staff and they were more than friendly to explain everything as in how the food was cooked for example. According to the manager Peter, the oven cooks pizza at around 600F with the top of the oven reaching temperatures over 1,000F. This cooks their personalized thin crust pizza in about 90 seconds! In this unreal amount of time, the food was at my table in a flash. I couldn't believe it. I have never had pizza, even at home cooked in the microwave, made that fast before! (Did he say, "Microwave Pizza?" Shouldn't Microwaved Pizza be against the law?) The pizza was made with fresh ingredients and colorful to look at while the aroma was pleasant, and the crust was very crispy. The other ingredients, cheese, sausage, mushroom, onion, green peppers, and onions blended well together! This was not a greasy pizza either! It was just the right amount to be filling yet I didn't get a bloated feeling after eating it. The dining area featured benches held up by black pipes. We ordered pizza, salad, and mac & cheese. These are Covid times, so I'm not going to knock anything too hard. The pizza was good, and the build your own salad was a great value with fresh ingredients. However, the mac is what has me writing this review. Their menu says it is made with cheddar and cream, then baked with smoked Gouda and cheddar and topped with bread crumbs. That sounds great, but I must have ordered wrong because I got noodles and velveeta. Velveeta mac has its time and place, but this wasn't it. If that is what they are serving now, I wish they'd update their menu. So, I'm letting you, kind reader, know that's what you'll get. Now you can make an informed decision. I have to give a huge shout out to this location. After a disastrous debacle with Grubhub, Colin at this location went beyond and above to satisfy our order. Our Grubhub driver attempted to deliver one item out of our order and left us by saying this was the order and there was nothing he could do about it. We called the restaurant and spoke to Colin who was not only willing to credit us the entire amount of our order but, offered to fill the order at no cost. When Grubhub refused to send another driver unless we placed the order again, Colin stepped in once more and offered to deliver to us at no charge. I ended up going to pick up our free meal and I have to again thank him and this location for making our night. It's this type of customer service and attention to detail during these times that really makes a difference. Great tasty pizza. Lots of food options . They offer Appetizers,sandwiches, soups and salads. Let's not forget the icecream. I went with the veggie pizza and it was just perfect with the right amount of sauce , toppings and cheese. They have the drink dispenser that lets you pick a bunch of different flavors. We had a blast at the Friday night Pizza making class! The owner Ric is very passionate about the business, where their ingredients are sourced and the art of making Neapolitan pizza. We started by learning the history of the company and taking a tour of their impeccably clean kitchen. Next we saw the prep area and a demonstration on how the dough is prepped for pizza making! We rolled the dough and threw on our toppings for it to be fired. We've been many times to the Wheaton location but never this Yorktown Lombard location. We'll be back! My only recommendation to Brick's is to let customers know your story and your passion for the ingredients you use. It's very interesting and I think customers would enjoy knowing. Thanks for ruining my evening with what you call a pizza. I read all the great reviews and raves, checked out your instagram and even stared the awards you've been given at your entrance. I ordered a magaherita pizza with chicken. I paid for the chicken to be added, I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 16 years and that was not even up to 3 ounces of chicken. Ok..no problem, I get the pizza and I took a bite and it's burnt. I think to myself, okay I might have pick a burnt piece. About 10 mins later, I try two more and they are also burnt. I call to ask, and they say bring it in; after contemplating. I had already previously called to ask why the pizza was burnt, the manager says to come in. I eventually agree to bring it in then I am told that the pizza has something called "leoparding" and it is fully cooked. Again...wow...I've had thousands of pizza in my life and this is what is they fully cooked. Again, I am disappointed because that was the worst pizza I've spent my money on. The manager was accommodating, but let me know that they would not replace the pizza I agreed to pay additional for because of "leoparding". Sad..this was my first and last time there, I am from out of town and this ruined my experience. I was truly excited to try it and waited all day after my project to try it. If you want normal pizza that does not have its crust burnt from being in a wood oven stay away. I have had wood fire pizza even at other establishments but this was horrible. Amidst the many chains of Lombard, our little group was happy to find Bricks! We were drawn in because of the gluten-free options and positive reviews, and we definitely weren't disappointed. We ordered two pizzas and a skillet cookie for dinner after a long conference day at the Westin. Our gluten-free pair told us the gluten-free crust was so good that they wondered if the pizzas had been switched. The regular crust Meatballz pizza was great as well. The highlight of the meal was definitely the skillet chocolate chip cookie, completely with birthday cake ice cream- seriously a great idea! AWESOME sandwiches. I have to be honest and say that my husband and I have not even tried the pizza, because we love the sandwiches so much. The bread is amazing. So far we have had the turkey and spinach, BBQ chicken, the Stromboli and Ric's Club. The ingredients are SO fresh!! All the sandwiches were absolutely delicious, although the Stromboli was unexpectedly ground sausage, and the peppers are VERY spicy. We had to have it remade without them. If you love spicy? You will love this sandwich. We've had 3 or 4 different soups. All are very good, but tend to be a little salty. Just had the bruschetta the other day, and it was some of the best we've ever had. Our group had a blast participating in the pizza making class they offer! The owner Ric told us the history of Bricks and walked us around their super clean facility. After the tour, we began rolling out our own dough and decorating our pies. Once our pizzas left the wood-fired oven, it was chow time. I may not have the best pizza making techniques, but I could tell the ingredients were top-notch and the food still amazing! This was many of our first times at Bricks and won't be our last. By giving Bricks Pizza a 3-star rating, I don't mean to imply that everything about this place is 3-star worthy, so allow me to break down the rating as follows: Pizza: I've had nine different specialty pizzas here so far, and overall they are tasty and made with high-quality ingredients. The crust is very thin, but puffy and soft at the edges. Taste-wise, there is a hint of smokiness infused into the dough from the wood-fired oven. There aren't many fast casual wood-fired pizza places in the area, so Bricks has an added advantage in this regard. Next, the sauce tastes fine, however the runny consistency of it combined with the bit of oil coming from the cheese often results in the entire layer of cheese sliding off of the slice while taking the first bite. As for the cheese itself, I commend Bricks for taking the road less traveled and using imported buffalo mozzarella despite domestic cow's milk mozzarella being a more economical and common option. The difference isn't big, but the cheese here is softer and more robustly flavored than your average mozzarella. In summary, the pizza earns a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Dining experience/service: Inside the restaurant, the style is rustic thanks to elements such as the coarse wood tabletops, brick veneer and wood accent walls. The interior also has a clean look thanks to the restrained amount of miscellaneous wall decor. Also, the staff is friendly, and they bring the pizzas to your table when ready. My only complaint is that the tables and seats should be cleaned more often. The crumbs easily blend in with the color of the table such that they'll look deceptively clean at first glance. So, the experience/service receives 4 out of 5 stars. Price: I wanted to give Bricks an overall rating of 4 stars, but I only see myself getting pizza here when I have their coupons. Without a coupon, their specialty pizzas are around $13-14 each, while their current coupons are essentially a buy one get one free offer. I wouldn't mind if the pizzas cost moderately more than their competitors because I think the ones here taste better and are made with better quality ingredients, but $13-14 each is pretty steep, especially for a personal-sized pie. So, I give a rating of 2 out of 5 stars for the pricing. Now, even though many chains like the Domino's and Papa Johns nearby have similar practices, I'm sure Bricks is aiming to be a higher-tier pizza place than those, and am thus holding Bricks to a higher standard as well. Doing the math giving equal weight to each category, we obtain an average score of 3.3 out of 5, which rounds to 3 stars. And finally for some recommendations: of the 9 specialty pizzas I've had, the following are my rankings from most to least favorite: 1. Prosciutto and Baby Spinach - Everything about this is done well. I can't come up with any suggestions on what there is to improve. 2. The Bricks - This one comes in a close second. Compared to all the creative specialty pizzas on the menu, The Bricks uses traditional American pizza toppings that you'd normally order at other chain pizza places. It's "comfort food" pizza! 3. Very Veggie - Pizzas without meat are boring, right? Not this one! The veggie pizza not only was brightly colored, but had a bright taste as well. The various toppings were sliced n' diced to the perfect size. Also, this one felt nearly as filling as the other pizzas. 4. BBQ Chicken & Smoked Gouda - The sharpness of the red onions provides great contrast to the sweet barbecue sauce. However, due to the comparatively basic amount of toppings used, the pizza more quickly became boring after a few slices. 5. White Arugula - Good choice when you're in the mood for white pizza. I ordered this to go and plenty of fresh arugula was provided in a separate container. 6. Classic Margherita - The sauce was too watery/runny and the basil was dry, but overall it was delicious. 7. Sunny Side Up - I enjoy trying new pizzas as this review would suggest, but am not a fan of the eggs on top; I think eggs pair much better with sharp cheeses than soft/mild cheeses. But regarding the pizza, it's not at the bottom of the rankings because I liked everything else about it. 8. Italian Sausage & Peppers - The first few slices were tasty but then the following slices became boring comparatively quickly. Both the sausage and the peppers were mild, so this pizza was asking for some hot sauce to be poured on it. 9. The Big Piluski - Good choice of ingredients but the artichoke chunks are too large. As a result only some slices contain artichoke, but the ones that do are overwhelmed by too much of it. read more

I came to Bricks today because I wanted to try something new. I came right at noon and the restaurant was completely empty, I was literally the only person there- which isn't a reassuring sight to see. I ordered the build your own pizza. I've been to other restaurants like this and I really appreciate when you can see the ingredients. You can't see any of the ingredients at Bricks and the only listing they have of them is on their menu. Bricks had limited topping options compared to similar style restaurants I've been to. Additionally, at many similar build your own pizza restaurants, there is a set price and you can add whatever you want to the pizza. At bricks, you pay for the standard pizza (which is tomato sauce and cheese), but they don't verbally tell you that there is a cost for each additional ingredient. Add $1.50 for each vegetable you want on it, add an additional $1 for each meat you want. So my cheese pizza with spinach and mushrooms ended up being about $13.75 which I think is much too expensive for what you are getting. My pizza tasted good and was made quickly. But it wasn't anything extraordinary. I don't think I will return here knowing that I can order the same pizza at a similar place for less money. read more

This is the newest location of a small local business that started in downtown Lombard. They feature thin brick oven fired pizza, sandwiches and salads. This location also has Kimmer's ice cream, which is made in Geneva. The menu is not too big but is varied, and they have gluten free and vegan options (no vegan cheese but you can get a cheese-free pizza). This location is bright and airy and comfortable. You order at the counter and they'll bring your food out. I've had a number of items from their menu and it's all good. Started coming here once a week and the people in the evening are great but the older lady around noon time is rude and seems like a racist since she had a problem with me for no reason. It's layered with a cheese (no sauce), pieces of crispy prosciutto and mounds of arugula. Then that awesome thin and crispy crust...it's so delicious. It's literally the salty and peppery components that make this pizza my absolute favorite. Also, the caprese salad is my favorite too. The presentation of it gets me everytime. A layer of sliced tomato, then mozzarella, etc. Then drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette and garnished with basil - ooyy it's so good.
